I've Paid £53.23 on electricity for my car since the start of 2019

in #partiko5 years ago

Based on the data in the image here, and a price of 16p per kWhr, I've spent £53.23 on fuel for the 8 months and 15 days so far.

How much have you spent on fuel this year?

Very nice.
What kind of car do you have?
I'm using public transportation most of the time.
Can't wait until cars drive themselves.

Hey @isnochys, here is a bit BEER for you. Enjoy it!

!BEER is supposed to power me! It would be wasted on a car :D

Hey @bluerobo, here is a bit BEER for you. Enjoy it!

I spent more on the decal than I probably have spent in 2 years on fuel.

You probably didn't spend that much on maintenance either.
That would be an interesting post for all the fossil car fans ;)

I've spent almost nothing on maintenance. It's really a trivial cost with EV's. Insurance is my biggest cost other than up front, at under £300 per year.

That's impressive. I probably spend around 20 per week on fuel but am all over the city. Public transport would probably be more expensive and take longer. I would like to go electric but the long range driving I do would take some planning.

In a year or two take a look out for Hyundai Kona EV's on the second hand market. I think they would have no problem with long trips and are ultra cheap to drive.

Cheers will do. Hope you are getting on well and if you are ever back and up for a pint, or coke let me know.

I will admit that I have a very short commute.

Oops, best if I read all the graphic.

Super cheap!

£0 in petrol, but more than €50 on trans and buses, and way less miles covered sat on those.

You don't pay several thousand pounds before you get on a bus up front though.

Very true. I’m ok with public transport, cycling, and walking for reasons like that.

An electric Steem mobile would be nice though 😁

I have spent more than that, but I p only really use the car at weekends since I changed jobs and can use the train. I'd love an electric car, but we shall have to see what we can afford. My little Hyundai has started playing up a bit after over 115k miles

The new electric Mini is cheaper than a petrol Mini. Second hand Leafs are also very affordable. They have an irrationally high depreciation. Just get a Leaf Spy to be sure of the cars state of health.

Not heard of that app before, but looks right up my street. Found a load of Leafs on sale around £9500. Will consider it.

I do not have a car but l think it is much better to get one. Cos l have spent a lot on cars every day l pick the public transport vehicle. We still do here in Ghana. Thanks for asking though

I'm fairly sure I've payed a lot more than that to run my car for the year. Probably by a couple of grand but it's a really pretty car so i'm ok with that.

That is awesome! Electric vehicles can help us to fight against the problem of global warming. But, it must be taken care of that the required electricity should not be produced somewhere else by burning fossil fuel.

I agree. In Isle of Man it is mostly Natural Gas, with a small fraction coming from renewables. However even natural gas power plants is better than burning petrol in your car, only if it's fully coal powered is it comparable.

As the local grid gets greener, so will my car.

Definitely natural gas is much cheaper and cleaner source of energy. Have a great time!

How much have you spent on fuel this year?

Zero since I only use public transport. This question is apropos especially with what's been happening in the Middle East lately...

Wow!!! That is really cheap in your ends. I have spent close to $250 on fuel for this past 8 months on my car in Nigeria. Though I use it a lot, so that might be the reason.

Excellent to read this. I'm just about to move into the world of all electric.

In two days time in fact!

Very nice, congratulations! What is it if I may ask?

Only a second hand Renault Zoe to start. But it was a cheap entry point to electric cars and will cover at least 90% of our trips.

Hopefully will be able to move on to something newer and with longer range in a year or two.

Sounds great! The only thing I'd avoid about the Zoe's is the weird battery lease thing. I have heard a few cases where that became more of a nuisance than it was worth. I think most Zoe's are sold in full these days though.

Yes that was a hangup for me, but keeps the price down.

In fact for older cars it in effect acts as an extended warranty on the batteries as they swap out if performance drops below 75%.

And as an added bonus you get free roadside assistance included so I can drop our AA cover that saves another £150 (3 months of the battery lease).

Sounds good. It is a really good car. Will save loads in fuel.

If you can, get a granny cable and keep it in the boot for emergencies.

Sadly, I don't know the exact amount I have spent on fuel this year. I probably should track my expenses better. I just took a trip to visit my 93-year-old grandpa and I spent more 80 USD on the trip down and back.

My dad has a hybrid car and gets great gas mileage and lower gas expenses. With the size of my family, I don't think I can afford anything electric at this time (even from the second market).

This is exactly the reason they expect the transmission from gas to EV will accelerate when people realise that the daily expenses on fuel suddenly drop. We will have to build a lot of windmills here in Denmark the coming years and that means very cheap electricity in the night.

not bad. conngratulations

You brought the car with you to Isle of Man?
