What we've witnessed today has absolutely no precedent whatsoever. So many times we've heard the expression "history in the making" and yet often, that's hyperbolic rhetoric to promote online engagement. This time though, this time its quite fitting.
Zelensky's arrival
Say what you will about the man, but for some reason this whole thing feels like got lured into a trap. Yes, he was not in his "best behavior" and I'm not going to defend his attitude, but the whole thing started with a broken left foot.
I believe one the first questions asked was not so much a question but a critique of his outfit. Either implying he doesn't respect the White House enough to wear one, or that he's just a bum. But after that, for about 40 minutes or so, Zelensky was able to keep the conversation somewhat calm.
Eventually, as we probably would expect, to honest, it devolved into shouting.
Lured and Frustrated
If you ask me, I feel like there was an intentionality behind the direction of the conversation that probably did not come from a good place.
President Trump and his VP made sure Zelensky knew who was the one "begging" who was in danger of being seeing as an ingrate.
Sadly, it worked. President Zelensky's attitude devolved, as his frustration made him raise his voice, and opened the door for the killing blow.
You ingrate!
Vicepresident Vance jumped at the opportunity. If you ask me, he's also working the 2028 angle, but that's besides the point.
You see, when Zelensky showed what can only be described as "entitlement", that gave Trump and Vance the opportunity to mop the floor with the Ukrainian leader, and then claim the higher moral ground.
It was disgusting to watch. A TV show fit for primetime, and not two politicians, two world leaders attempting to find a solution to this horrible war.
I dare to say
Putin has to be smiling today. In my view, this gave him the green light to do as he pleases. Not to say Putin needed Trump's approval, certainly not, but what transpired today might be taken as the beginning of Ukraine's surrender.
Reports that Zelensky was thrown out of the White House like a dog, are filling my feed, and as we know, we are not the only ones reading headlines.
In a million years
I never imagined the US would vote with Russia and North Korea. Alienate its neighbors and allies, to then one day invite the president of Ukraine to the White House to humiliate him in front of the world and send him home.
And it's only been a month and eight days...
MenO
Zelensky came off as a man who is in a serious situation and wanted to get down to serious business. Trump came off as fragile and weak megalomaniac that can't control his own temper if anyone disagrees with him in front of the cameras. He gave it all the PR talk by mentioning the deaths of young people only to expose himself at the end with the comment about good tv. Vance cemented himself as the biggest brown noser in the room (aside from the suit guy) and one of the most hated individuals in the world.
Vance is playing for the 2028 nomination. He's a grifter, hands down. Was he not anti trump first, calling him America's Hitler?
I know very little about Vance, I didn't know he said this, but it's interesting what people are willing to do for power.
Vance's wife is Indian. MAGA hates Indians, they talk shit about them. They've talked shit about his wife. He's pretended not to care, not to listen.
A man who doesn't defend those he loves is a coward.
100% agree. It's very sad though.
This is a diplomatic disgrace. Zelensky has lost touch with reality and the political stature of his opponents.
In a desperate attempt to save face, maintain power, and preserve his life, he tried to push through a cheap show and use rudeness to pressure President Trump.
I took great pleasure in witnessing this humiliation.
However, in the Ukrainian segment of Telegram, two prevailing opinions dominate. The first group curses Trump with the harshest insults, believing he has caved in to Moscow, while the second group rejoices at how firmly Zelensky put Trump in his place.
On the account of Zelensky's former comedy troupe (his previous workplace), they posted a photo of a piano, jokingly implying that Zelensky is once again played the piano with his dick
I'm not defending Zelensky, he screwed the pooch, but I want to know what was the plan here?
Who thought this was a good move?
Trump's comment about it being good TV made my gut lurch.
Perhaps you will find some answers in my last post:

If Ukraine loses the war, it takes a couple of hours to take over Moldova as Moldova has no army (what they call army is only good for demonstration purposes and not more). Then Russia is at the border of Romania a country that has the longest border with Ukraine on land and water. That means Russia is at the border of NATO.
Then what's next?
Looks like Russia has the US's support (no one can deny that) and growing nicely.
What does Trump want?
Vance threw some heavy accusations at some European countries, totally false by the way, when he spoke in Munich.
What does the US want?
Trump wants 50% of the mineral extraction. He's already said it. It's literally a shake down.
The ‘standing ovations’ come from Russia. That already says it all. Dimitri Medvedev used Telegram to spread his assessment (which never differs in content from that of his president):‘And the ungrateful pig got a good slap in the face from the owners of the pigsty. That's useful’
Maybe we can conclude from this that the White House is a pigsty?
Are you serious? is there a screenshot of this?
On Telegram you will find the original, which is even more intense.
It was the United States that was humiliated. Our fellow citizens voted this man into office, knowing what he was.
I happen to know of a few Americans here, expats, that began telling people they are Canadian. I wonder why?
I may be wrong but Meno... 🤔 Man, this whole thing felt like a setup. Zelensky walked in and they just tore him apart. Whatever people think of him, that was rough to watch. I bet Putin’s loving this 👀
Maybe now the Zelensky authorities will stop forcibly capturing Ukrainians and sending them to the trenches to certain death...
you would hardly ever find anything I've ever said in favor of any war... I just don't know how this can be fixed, more so now.
Yeah, this was disgraceful. On the other hand, it's good to have clarity. Now Europeans are scrambling to develop a replacement for NATO. We know we can't count on the Americans to defend us anymore. The sleepy old continent can still get things done when there's an emergency. For example, Germany built five LNG terminals in two years to replace Russian gas.
Putin might be happy this weekend, but a Russian-American agreement doesn't mean the war will end. Europe controls the most significant sanctions and is able to support Ukraine financially on its own. Zelensky isn't the most hawkish politician in Ukraine; if he resigned, there are no pacifists to take over, or Russian speakers who still support Russia after eleven years of war and occupation.
I don't know if I had considered the possibility of another president taking over, and being ten times more hawkish. It's not outside of the realm of possibilities.
That said, and what's more likely, is that the new leader would be a pro russian manchurian candidate. Both situations would be horrible, but for different reasons.
Remember the fundamentals of all market transactions.
It was Zelenskyy who got angry - That means the fundamental fact is this:
Trump failed to make the deal.
To his base, he didn't fail... he put America first. It's painful to read.
Zelensky is not a neccessary party. I'd imagine he less than a month left (or less) to make a deal or he'll be deposed.

Is the only way out for Ukraine to succeed land?
I think the larger issue is NATO on Russia's doorstep. The analogy to that would be the Chicoms putting an Airforce base in northern Mexico.
Parts of Ukraine are or were substantially ethnically and culturally Russian so it's likely some land will be lost.
What is to stop Russia from taking more, after this conflict "ends" simply saying... Oh wait.. this also.
Exactly what I said and if Ukraine fails, Moldova will be taken as well, I'm 99,99% sure of that. Mark my words.
What, Banderaites and Russophobes also seized power in Moldova?😂
Not Moldova, but Transnistria.
Moreover, the people of Transnistria have the right to self-determination!
No, I meant Moldova.
