@gavvet posting under his shill account @steve-walschot to increase #rewardpoolrape

You all think @gavvet is such a savior, eh? Did you realize he's posting under a shill account @steve-walschot where his @gavvet account is the largest supporter?

Now, many complain that I upvote my own comments with ~$4 reward, mainly due to the automated flags I receive, but nobody seems to have a problem with @gavvet rewarding himself with ~$50+/post on his shill account. Isn't this a little hypocritical?

Open your eyes and stop acting like a bunch of fucking sheep just for a few SP. If you want this place to actually receive adoption is following @gavvet really the way? I'd really like to know. If it's now acceptable to start posting under shill accounts and rewarding yourself, game on!

Sort:

I don't know anyone who thinks of him as a saviour, but I know certainly do not.

For a while there, the abuse seemed to be getting lesser and lesser and I really felt that we were moving in the correct direction. Now that the price of STEEM has risen, however, the reward pool draining seems to have commenced again. I'm seeing utterly shite posts make $800+ every single day.

I think these idiots must be severely mentally impaired. They think that upvoting their own shitty posts to the trending page is the best way for them to make money. This is so short-sighted.

The price rise has garnered a lot of attention for Steemit, and it has never been more important for the trending page to be filled with posts worthy of trending. Now all those new people who hear about STEEM and come visit Steemit, will see shitty posts in the top ten and think one of two things;

  1. This website is shit. I don't want to be a part of it.

or 2) This website is awesome. I can make a 1000 dollars for doing something as shit as that??

That's just an invitation for more shitposters to come here, and will seriously hurt Steemit in the not-so-long run.

But if the cunts just played fair, it would dispel any animosity from the community, while helping those who are in need of it, and STEEM will become a place where anyone and everyone would love to spend their time. That would result in them making far more money than they are making through this daily siphoning of the reward pool.

This is the best thing I have read all week on Steemit, thanks SoS. Your father, Satire, must be very proud.

I laughed so hard I got a stomach cramp!

Just to set the record straight... I can use my main or I can use my alt. At these prices my main earns too much, therefore I use the Steve account and what bernie purposely doesn't point out is is that I have been mostly using it for a gamification contest experiment... which he downvotes to 0.00, but he has been slack lately and let a few through.

I upvote them for visibility, If I wanted rewards I could simply post from my main multiple times per day like the #realrewardpoolrapists do.

Lol. You dick.

😁

@cheetah bans plagiators of content.. Why Steemit doesn't have bans for upvote abuse?

How would it detect it? How could you make certain it's detection didn't attack legit people due to flaws in the algorithm. It also doesn't have the power of Gavvet or Bernie's newer accounts.

If some whale gives high payouts to same user for example 5 times in a row (5 upvotes on 5 posts in a row) then some alert comes so admin of a bot can take a look

Sure if it was just a tool to alert a human that might work. A lot of what cheetah does is fully automated, so I thought that is what you were aiming for.

I think that there is no sence that always same whale upvote same author in most cases even without opening post.

It would be nice if they had some kind of TIMER when you opened a post. A minimum amount of time you actually had to be viewing a post before you could vote on it. That'd clear up a lot of that. People would complain, but it would likely stop a lot of that type of activity.

Well said!

There's also

.3) This website is awesome but there is also a lot of shit, so that sometimes I have doubts ...

It is discouraging for content creators like myself to see, as you call it, utterly shit posts on the trending page making hundreds of dollars. I've suffered from "Steemit Depression" in the past, where I don't even feel like posting. I've grown stronger since then.

I can't even begin to imagine how newcomers to this platform feel...

I have learned that when you start to feel this way because high-earning shitty posts, you can balance your feelings by looking for the good posts that have been rewarded. Especially those who you have witnessed working very hard for a while. To see them finally getting what they deserve can be truly inspiring, and even motivational.

I couldn't agree more! I'm not sure what we can do about this though, other than the oh so unpopular downvotes by whales.

A very logical way of looking at it.

Very very true. I'm steeming ahead anyway just because I like to create content and I want to see where this goes. I noticed a scam and flagged it, my votes seem to have gone down ever since maybe it's a coincidence and I'm not concerned because I'm still learning. However it doesn't seem very friendly or long term rewarding to let scammers and steem hungry circles or whatevers abuse, pass over and or chase off genuine content creators.

If I could resteem a comment, I'd do this

Congratulations. Someone who fucking gets it...

I'm new here, but I've already seen that something is odd with the votes and some accounts in general. I got 0.74$ for my introduction post with 18 votes. Maybe it is not the perfect introduction, but this reward is a really great welcome for a new user on Steemit... Thanks for pointing all this shit out and helping the platform to stabilize! I will help where I can ;)

Thank you all for hearing my voice! Here is a HUGE thing regarding Steemit sending data to Google & Facebook while we are surfing here. This should be seen by everyone on Steemit:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemchiller/attention-why-is-steemit-sending-data-to-google-analytics-and-facebook-all-the-time

I'm new here . can someone really vote $50 ?

anyway i think no one should vote on their post's that's just wrong

Yes, some of us can.

Be honest bernie, mine does't even make it to $10

Why not..... they have the power...

You mean voting on yourself with another account?

It is very disappointing to see as there are people who genuinely could use the support. Some of us try really hard but do not have thick wallets!

It's sad to see things like this happen. Honestly though, I'm busy enough managing just one account...

I feel like you generally downvote those who deserve it, no complaints from me. In my head I see it playing out like this...

I wonder how you know that it is his account. By the transactions in-between the accounts? Or is there something else to it? You are da Steemit police anyway :P.

The Critic methinks!Aha! Thanks @ats-david, I was just about to ask Bernie if he was sure, because I was pretty suye Steve was someone else... Apparently not... More fuel for

Ok I guess I couldn’t have asked for clearer clue :D!

The exact date of Steve-walschot's ragequit was December 6, 2016:

I haven't looked at the accounts, but this is somewhat "public" knowledge, many just aren't aware.

Hi bernie, Can u explain this stuff to me. I am new to this. Thanks Bernie. I posted some stuff. I got a lot of votes but not sure correspondence to the payout. I entered a recent competition
let me know what you think? Thanks, Sunil

Bro whats up with the follow? You are one of the dope whales and I'd much appreciate it :D

Other than that, get em bro! hahah

Wow, I didn't know , I've followed that account a long time ago, back in last july when I joined, then was away from Steemit for over six months.

Yeah, this drainage of the reward pool is quite disturbing, just as were the makeup tutorials making 15K + USD ... Glad you're balancing things with your sub 12hrs flags :)

Keep it up @berniesanders

Sad thing about all of this is that, SP rewards abuse are a problem. But there isn't a way to stop it, the only way is through organically curated content, which needs rewards to grow and it generates a vicious cycle.
I could also be wrong, so what do you think?

Fucking a man imagine if the upvotes where spread out!!! Everyone gets in and earns well. Some like to rape it all for them selfs.

I look forward to a divided Steemit Community identical to Western and Eastern Rome.
So which side are you?
https://steemit.com/memechallenge/@themanualbot/when-two-of-your-favorite-persona-opposes-each-other-gavvet-vs-bernie-a-steem-meme

For myself, I'm sure I'm on the side of the one that knows the value of steemit.

Well I used to like gavvet but if this shitbag is doing this it aint cool, why not spread the damn voting power to all users. trying not to cus but damn. if you are going to have all that voting power don't 100% your self!

Bernie, this is but one of the many multi-faceted gamification flaws of Steemit! Africa already has a terrible record of scamsters from Nigeria - @gavvet is not helping the case for Africa with his pure gamification! If it ain't the Koreans it's the bloody Africans!! Resteemed!!

Bernie, I have to admit it. You're one helluva guy! - At times, I've been wondering what you're doing.. But let's face it. You're straight up, honest and you don't fall for crap.

However, I can't talk about gavvet or if he's upvoting his own posts with alternative accounts, but I wouldn't be surprised. - This has been going on since I first joined Steemit last year. Several people are doing this.. - I don't think it's fair and I literally hate to see the same people among the "trending posts" day in and day out. 7 days per week. - Other authors, like myself, have very low chances to compete against these "top authors" .. And that's a shame.

It was "easier" back in the day, for us "nobodies" , when a single vote by you, dantheman or blocktrades for instance, would skyrocket a post and reward them with a couple of hundred bucks. - I had a handful of posts myself with rewards like that back in the day.. And I've never been more happy online, ever.

Keep up the good work Bernie, no matter what you do, don't stop. - I envy you, I encourage you and I love what you're doing.. Even though I might not agree with you at all times.

Here you go, take $0,01 from me! :)

Just to set the record straight... I can use my main or I can use my alt. Thank you gavvet for your clarification. Like I said previously, I don't have any problems with you, bernie or any other whale or steemian for that matter. - Things just feels kind of awkward at times. It's always great to hear both sides. However, even if you do what you do, for whatever reason it might be, there's still others doing exactly what bernie pointed out in his post. I've seen it multiple times.. - So even if you don't do it for the rewards, others are doing it. - However, I appreciate your reply and I'll use it in my previous post, as I've mentioned this problem in that.

Does being first in the voters list mean they put the most of their voting power into the vote?

If yes, that is very unfair from gavvet doing this, promoting bad behaviour on the platform and stealing rewards from other users. He should do it the legit way as everyone else - by paying for promotion.

Thanks for pointing that out Bernie!

It means that they have the highest voting weight among all listed voters. In some cases a mere 1% vote is enough to make it to the top of the list, in a sea of 100% votes (whale vote).

I'm assuming gavvet isn't voting at only 1%, though, likely 100%.

Yes, you are right.

Wackou gave 25% and is in second position on the voters list.. Trafalgar gave 16% and is forth.

That means they get most of the curation rewards for not voting early when the post was posted. 100% means they voted early making more potential rewards to the author. But still wackou & trafalgar influenced more of their voting power thats why there on the top among others.

Thank you manualbot! :)

So gavvet voted early to make himself the most. Can we know how much reward he gave himself?

The sad thing is I sleep 3hours daily trying to think of what to write and some people will just post something weird and you will see $700+ for it.it's like no one really reads thise posts. They look at the name, rank and hit upvote. While those who write their hearts out, get pennies like 4 votes because of their ranks. How will the newbies with talents grow when some individuals are out to rape the system dry simply because they can? Is that not the worst form of corruption? I wrote a post on it when someone practically stole my work. Hell! I know of some people who got frustrated and left steemit because of this...It is really bad...This is like beating someone and expecting the person not to cry. I have no beef with anyone and not everyone does it, but to those doing it, you are hurting the system. We won't grow if you act this way.

The funny thing is a lot of these people who bleed the system dry came from penury and you would expect them to understand the feeling of having nothing, but no! they choose to hoard it all. Sometimes I sit down and wonder, if @ned had chosen to be selfish, will this steemit vision even exist? I am a young man of 23 with dreams to reshape his community and dreams. While my age mates are thinking of porn, booze, parties, sex and what not, am thinking of how to reshape the world. I am having difficulties because some people have chosen to misrepresent what this community represents. It is not fair tho like I said , some steemians are still good.

I know steemit is supposed to be uncensored but maybe just maybe some tweaks needs to be made so shit like this wint happen its called a rape tunnel that this fools are doing . #rapetunnel

Just imagine if all the super power users would acuatlly care for tgis place than to just fill their pockets and than when its time to cash out they leave all of high and dry. I am not complaing just pointing out some views that woukd help this place.

oh, It's scam.

upvote and rs 4 u....

good stuff for catching that

I d like to point out that deliberate inner adversities drowned many flagships in the past, whatever side they fought on. Please reward good content that people invest time and fiat money in, all else is quite pointless.
Greetings, @velimir

@berniesiries your is genius man....!I will follow you and all your friends

We need to have a long tail, and we only will have one when the short tail is fair. And when the short tail is fair, the long tail will also be fair. Therefore the short tail shall be fair!

This is all way over my head. I think I just sat down at the grown ups table...😳🤑 I still don't quite get the steem thing completely.

I think people have a problem with it. Some of us simply may be unaware it is happening until someone like you or OTHER investigators points it out. I believe in equality. You've been bashed for this in the past, and I don't believe @gavvet deserves special treatment. I know there has been other investigators pointing out gavvet activity back in the August-September range when prices were high like now. I didn't know it has resumed.

Yet that doesn't mean people have it in for you and not him. Well, perhaps there are some of those. I am not one of them. Thanks for the heads up.

I believe you two sould stop looking at each other.
Perhaps it should not be made possible anymore to vote for yourself. (I don't anymore)I do not see any difference between upvoting your own posts and using alt-account @berniesanders @gavvet

This is something I have been wondering about. Would it be possible to just put a solid limit on the value of a post. I don't know what number would be good, may $200 or $250. I mean really short of a cure for cancer does a post, any post, really need to go over $250?? Would it not be better for the excess to be spread through the community?

In his defense, he did inspire one of the funniest comics to ever hit the walls of steemit. (Though you might have to know the backstory that took place in a comment section to get this...or at the very least remember a certain series of posts pertaining to the punchline..)
https://steemit.com/funny/@mynameisbrian/steemit-troll-a-comic

That's the best I got. Not my saviour.

About the htooms thing...why? Just that, just why? I've never had a problem with you, and actually in many cases I do understand the motivation behind what you do. And you might have a great reason, I just don't know what it is.

I've noticed a trend on people talking as if whales are a hindrance, well by this time next year as long as I continue my level of dedication my husband intends to invest enough in my account that I will be one of these loved/hated/feared/envied creatures. So for it to still be viable and continuing to grow is pretty damn important to me.I agree with @son-of-satire one hundred percent, and since I love this platform and not only do I want to see it succeed, I actually need it to.

Depsite everything that's happened, you're still here and well-invested so I'm guessing it's important to you too.

seems like a plan
can we all do that?

That's disheartening to hear :-( Steemit is a well thought out program, with many investors in time and effort. Cheeta is cool for 1, Someone will come up with solution to this problem.
I watched before my very eyes, just the other day a guy I was checking out through a response to me was at

1 reputation point ?

He had lots of money from curation or purchase, his comments and reply's indicated problems with others, and I watched as his post etc were disappearing from everywhere ? his response to me kept fading out and coming back. I un followed and moved on.
Apparently there are steemit police at work, probably a necessary evil in the end ?

Different people do things different ways. All we can do is work on evening things out as many have and are it seems. Thinking it will all balance out over time. As we all share value (STEEM) with ourselves and others.
