Lunch time run

in #running7 years ago (edited)

It was raining earlier, but cleared up in time for a colleague and I to go for a run. We have a nice set of changing rooms with showers on site. We set off at a fairly good pace and I managed to keep it up despite suffering sore legs from my last couple of runs.

BTW I'm not sure I believe the peak speed this shows. GPS can glitch sometimes.

We ran along by the main road to the sailing lake and then back down smaller roads to stay away from the traffic noise and fumes. The last stretch was through the shopping precinct and the station. At that point my legs had had enough and I needed to walk/hobble a bit. The other guy carried on. I was able to run a little more at the end. A good, hot shower was very welcome. Then it was a hearty meal of leftover curry heated in the office microwave.

I hope to do the Letchworth parkrun on Saturday, but I may be out late on Friday. Let's see how it goes. I'll definitely try for a run at some point on the weekend.

Run free!

I know you have been working hard at this for a while Steve. Thought this was interesting and perhaps something one could easily incorporate into their running routine.

Mental attitude definitely makes a difference. Interesting that it could affect race performance, but that isn't something I worry about

Just keep at it Brother!

I use this sometimes through difficult parts of long-running races or training and I can confirm it works. I "discovered" it intuitively and it is great to see that it has some backup research and scientific explanations. Thank you!

You're welcome

God on you for getting out. I've been struggling the last couple of mornings - not sleeping well in the heat, and ended up staying in bed.

But the weekend is coming...

I know what you mean about sore legs. I thought I was doing ok on Tuesday, but now I'm hobbling about the house like the old man that I am hehehe

Heat is not an issue here. It was freezing this morning, but warmed up a bit

good job my friend i like the running sport i wish you the best health
have a good day

I'm not sure this is the most valuable comment on this post. Maybe you should let others decide. Your self voting may be seen as greed

For sore legs: pineapples and ginger in all forms and shapes can both help at a bit better recovery (https://www.muscleandfitness.com/nutrition/gain-mass/recover-faster-and-build-muscle-pineapple & https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/17/soothing-sore-muscles-with-ginger/). Run well!

How do you find time to run while at work?! How long are your lunch breaks?!

Seriously, I wish I could find the motivitation to do something worthwhile during my break that isn't eating or browsing steemit ;)

I can take an hour for lunch and then eat at my desk. I know it may be harder if your hours are more controlled. It's just a way for me to get more runs during the day. It's good to get away from the screens for a while. Even a short walk is good.

That's a cool device you must be in great shape

My phone app? Is called Endomondo. I've used it for years. I'm not that fit, but I try to stay fairly healthy. Age is catching me up

I wish I had shower facilities at work so I could add a lunchtime workout or two.

How often do you run? congrats for your determination @steevc

I'm trying to do at least twice a week. There's at least one person I've seen on Steemit who runs every day

choice of good route buddy, you make a good preparation

health is wealth...
try to keep it up..
