Today's run was mostly around the Stevenage cycle paths. Six Hills Way is appropriately named and took out of of my legs after a fairly good start. I went around the sailing lake this time to extend the run a bit. A few people fishing there, but no boats out.
I take some back roads on the return leg. I'm intrigued by these houses that all seem to have suffered the same sort of crack in the brickwork between the windows. Maybe it was a design fault. They are on a road called Hillcrest, so you can guess there's more uphill there.
I visited the outdoor gym again for a brief arm workout. I didn't stop the clock, so that made for a very slow km. Overall it was a good run, but it took a lot out of me. It takes a while to recover, but my legs are generally okay the next day.

Any recent earthquakes around your area? The houses don't look so old, so I'm surprised by the cracks.
It's very specific damage in the same place on each. These look like council houses. Maybe they cut some corners and paid the price.
I don't think we have 'council houses' any more around here. The semi-detached ones from the 60's are still about but many have been bought up when the council's offered them to the residents in the 80's.
Maybe your right, if they are all the same, terrible quality if so.
I think most around here have been sold off, but a lot belong to housing associations. Unsurprisingly not everyone can afford to buy
Get those hills in! ;-)
Male sure you give yourself some good rest after a hard run like that, so your legs can fully recover. That's always my biggest fault - doing a hard run and then doing another one straight afterwards.
Having worked on building sites in the UK back in the 90s, I'm not surprised by the cracks. There were a few houses I worked on that I was surprised they were still standing at all.
Just be glad you don't get earthquakes over there ;-)
I visited Drusilla's Farm down south today, with the niece and nephews, and once you start walking around the zoo, it's a long walk with only one direction, so it counts as a workout. And at the end, there's a lemur enclosure, where you can walk in the pen with the lemurs around you, and a black lemur called Lotfi put it's hand in my trouser pocket to steal the zoo map that was peeking out. He got it but I had to pull it back off him, for fear he'd eat it or something. But it counts as an extra-special workout walk for me anyway, as I never met a lemur before lol.
When your count says 581 calories burned, would I be right in thinking that the actual achievement is less, cos some of those calories would have been burned anyway, just living and breathing? I wonder what the extra calories burned by the exercise amounts to? :0
I assume it's a lot more than I'd burn sitting around. I don't need to lose weight, but then I just had a big meal with pudding. I want to be a better runner
Sounds like a busy day of exercise today @steevc.
Those cracks look very ominous. Are people still living in the houses? 😊
They are occupied. I don't know how long the cracks have been there, but they have been repaired
You don't use @actifit?
