Steemfest is only three days away! There's a plan for some of us to go out for a run on Saturday morning. I know @bingbabe is up for it. I think I suggested about 7:30 to allow an hour or so before meeting people at breakfast. I get there on Wednesday and I may try for an exploratory run on Thursday morning. I know there are drinks the night before, but I'm not a big drinker.
Today I was up reasonably early and the weather was looking okay. Definitely autumnal, but not too cold. I thought I felt a few drops of rain as I went out, but it didn't amount to anything.
We've just had Halloween and there are lots of pumpkins around. I've seen a few scattered around and assume people have tossed them out. I'd hope it's to feed the wildlife as it's a waste otherwise. I think it's a very small percentage of pumpkins sold in the UK that get eaten and most are sold in the week before Halloween to be carved. Here's one I found along the way. Taking this photo caused Endomondo and Pocket Casts to crash again, so my run log got split. This is an annoying Android bug. I managed to snap my headphone cable. I was listening to Bad Voltage (Linux/geek/tech) and then just started Positively Negative by our own @teamaudio.
I didn't set out with a real plan, but I have been thinking of extending my Sunday runs to get me in better shape for doing another half marathon. I was feeling good, so I headed over to where the parkrun takes place and did part of that course. Endomondo can be a bit dumb. Of course it's my longest run of the month as it's the first. It would be longer if it had been recorded as a single run. 12.5km is not bad considering I did a run yesterday. I've never managed to run many days consecutively. A friend does 4 miles every day, but his body must have adapted to that.
Breakfast was cereal and fruit with some orange juice. I usually have soya milk, but after writing this post I decided I should try other non-dairy 'milk'. This oat stuff is different, but not bad. Definitely oaty.
I encourage you to check out and support some other runners on Steemit:
- @trevor.george is on the treadmill as the weather is pretty bad in New Zealand.
- @run.vince.run is also in New Zealand, but I think he's just visiting.
- @extremejogging has some spectacular landscapes in South Africa.
- @toofasteddie is tearing it up in Barcelona.
You can find many more runners using the #RunningProject tag. This is a fine example of a supportive community on Steemit.

Is it an Android bug or a problem with Endomondo? @bingbabe uses Runtastic and has subscribed to the pro version.
There's others such as Sports Tracker too, all of which have corresponding web apps for all that lovely detail if required.
The fact that is crashes multiple apps suggests it's Android. It doesn't always happen, but then I don't tend to take many photos when I'm running as it involves stopping and fiddling. I ought to take my little action camera with me.
From what I have read in past comments on posts you have to get ready for the challenge by @slobberchops better half.
Pumpkins do end up all over the place after Halloween, as you say most are carved for lanterns and then Disposed of although no always in a responsible way.
A bigger issue fireworks, which have been active a good week now but Friday and Last Night it was constant explosions from 5pm onwards - given Friday we had strong winds it is down right dangerous. They keep saying that sales will be restricted to organised displays but it never happens.
Safe travels to SteemFest - maybe you will find a whole running crew to join in.
I didn't see any spent fireworks. There was a big display up the road last night and another nearby tonight. Our cat didn't like it at all and it's not great for those with horses. I don't see much point in doing it at home as the big displays are much better.
Aww man, that would be fun to join some of you all for a run some day! No Steemfest for me this year, but maybe next year. Looking forward to hear about your experiences there, though. Happy trails!
I'll be up for a run Sat, assuming I can be back in time for Auschwitz.
Now there's a comment I never expected to write!

We should try to get out fairly early. I'm not going to Auschwitz on this trip. Maybe I'll go back with the wife some time.
Hope you have a good time at SteemFest! Looking forward to hearing about it.
The pumpkin looks very shiny, she looks lying on the side of the road.
are you into pumpkins? There are a lot of old ones here too.
😂

I think that is pretty common everywhere that the majority of pumpkins are not used for consumption around this time of year. Maybe the seeds I guess. We used to season and bake them when we were done carving our jack o lanterns as kids. The canned stuff you buy in the store is probably a whole separate world.
