Running back to back

As promised yesterday, I was going to run again today and I managed to do it.

A picture of my course that I took a while back. Conditions were not this nice today!

I felt ok after yesterdays' run, but the weather did not relent. It was grey, cold and it had been snowing last night. In the first 2 kilometers I also had wind in my face. All this made for a horrible surface and plenty of puddles.

I did not expect to repeat yesterdays' results. Despite feeling good and having a fantastic first kilometer I started feeling some pains after about 2,5 km. This lasted all the way and really stopped my momentum. When I finished the 5km under 25 minutes, I was well surprised and very happy about this result.

This was a fantastic experience running back to back and I feel I can get used to this. I will improve the distances slowly over the coming months towards the marathon and once I can pick up the routine I'll also start running 3 days in a row.

As you can see I improved on almost every kilometer, except the last one where I was suffering.

The next couple of days I might not be able to post as I'll be very occupied, but I will do my best if I get a chance.

I keep finding out that many people have not heard of the @runningproject or its bot @isotonic, so if you're a runner and want to be rewarded, just join our community. It's easy and quick and the 1 SBD or Steem is earned back in no time as you get an upvote on EACH post, not just the ones about running.

Keep running and stay fit!

Faster and faster!

Before you know it, I'll be flying 😉

Good run and perfect promotion!!!! Thanks man!
(you look so busy nowadays :-( )

Anytime, I did say I wanted to help. If this is all I can do, then so be it.

Is the pain from the side of the stomach? If so, do you have any techniques to get rid of it?

It was something else, but it's sorted. I think it had a lot to do with yesterday's post.

Good work! Don't be in a hurry to run 3 days back to back. 4 sessions a week should be plenty for a marathon. For me, I did Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; as do most of my athletes.

At the moment I don't have any of them running more than 4 days a week, although some are doing additional cross training, like swimming, cycling or gym work.

Thanks. This is really good to know. My only issue is to balance my family life with work and training. For this reason lunchtime runs suit me best. I was given the below training schedule, what do you make of it. The numbers are in kilometers, so in week 1 you'd be training about 25 kilometers and then work your way up to the event, with the heaviest week at 64 kilometers, 4 weeks before the big event.

A few questions:

What pace/effort is each of the different runs at? You need to run at different effort to stimulate different training responses.

What is your goal time? What are some recent times for 10k or half marathon?

What volume have you been running leading up to the plan?

I think I can see the logic behind it but with the answers to the above I'd be happy to offer more feedback.

To be honest, finishing is the goal, the pace is irrelevant to me. I don't know what the pace behind this plan was in mind. I was told it's aimed to learn to run on tired legs.

In general I run 10km in about 55 minutes, I've never ran more than 13km at once and this program apparently could help me with building this up.

What do you mean with volume? In general I run 3 times a week and I want to ease into 4 times a week as I mentioned in my post that I did yesterday. Before I will start with this plan.

Would it be easier to chat offline? I'm on discord: wolfje#6587

Wow! Respect - this was running with effort! Amazing pace!

Thanks!

Good post @wolfje.thanks your post very nice

impressive submissions, warm greetings from the gayo plateau

Thanks, can you send me some of that warmth? LOL

Last post on my blog you will get something warm, ha ha ...
thank you for the support

I wish I was fit like you. I think I manage 1 km of running... Beautiful scenery, I'm in love with Switzerland :-)

It starts with 1km. I couldn't even do that when I started. I did some post about how I got into it. If you want have a look at them. I really took it slowly and feel free to ask questions, both here and on discord.

Thanks I will check it out. However it’s the hills that keep me from running 🏃‍♀️. And also the cold weather... I have two excuses already... 😂

Hills are not an excuse. Where Iive it's very hilly and I love running there. The ground is better and easier, the air is fresh and yes the hills make it more of a variety and a challenge. Make excuses why you have to run and before you know it they'll dominate your life instead of the excuses against it.

Great scenery to enjoy while you run, great progress on your stats !

Thanks bud, I hope I can pick up the pace again.

Good luck and a lot of perseverance for You. I'm preparing now for triathlon :) I will follow You and check how are You doing with Your training ! :)

WOW a triathlon! Where are you going to do that? How much time do you spend training for it?

I will do that in my country, Poland, but still don't know exactly when and where, it depends on whether the preparation goes without injury, I already have some problem with a knee, but I hope it's nothing serious... I gonna make between 6-10 trainings/week ;)

Good luck bud! A triathlon must be gruelling. If you're suffering too much, maybe take te pace down a bit until winter is over, the hard surfaces and cold probably don't help either. You can pick up the pace again once it's starting to get warmer again. For me it's all about keep moving now, maintain the momentum and get myself prepared for training in Spring/Summer.
