Exercises For Increasing Grip Strength

To perform any exercise with proper technique you need to hold the weights with solid grip but for holding it for too long you need strong forearm. Our forearm involves in each type of weight workout so automatically it gets stronger with other parts of the body but that is true for the beginners as you start lifting heavy weights your forearm lag behind biceps or triceps.Grip plays important role when you perform DeadLifts or Pull-ups. There are some exercise which helps in building strong forearm.
Farmer walk does help in building strong forearms although its a compound exercise. Grab couple of dumbbells in your hand and try to walk with it like you normally do.

Another way is to grab some weigh plates and try to hold them with strong grip try to squeeze the plates as hard as you can while still holding it in your hands.


Another workout that is best to test your forearm strength is standing rope forearm. Grab a plate and a rod and attach both with the rope then try to scroll the rope on rod while stretching and keeping your arms parallel to floor.

What's the point of doing these exercises? I'm just wondering if I should implement them in my routine. My forearms are big and toned, but when I do bench it shakes back and forth like it can't be supported. Does your forearm support you well on other exercises?

I think from what you are describing it might be due to the stabilising muscles in the shoulders, perhaps rotator cuff. But it's normal if you are benching heavy weight to have some sort of shaking. A proper bench setting would have you engage your lats to stabilise your back and provide a solid base for balance, also your surratus plays a role in stabiisation.

I will usually use Farmer walks as a form of conditioning. Not only do they increase my grip strength, but it also helps full me with full-body awareness ,which can help with my lifts in general. I always make it a priority to do some form of grip work in my routine, be that Farmer walks, weighted bar hangs, or even just pinch plate walks. Great observation!

Forearms are my weakness lol It gets worse the more I lift. It's hard to find balance without over-loading them (for me personally).

I have a really good one if you don't have equipment, get a chunk of 2x4 a screwdriver and a 2" wood screw , force the screw into the 2x4 using the screw driver, then unscrew it and repeat in another spot on the 2x4, great for your hands and forearms and you can do it while you watch dank memes on the internet.
