New users are joining the community at a rapid and growing pace. Page views continue to increase. And as page views increase the market cap of Steem rises.

The key to Steem's future price growth is directly related to the market cap and therefore pageviews. The site's growth potential is enormous and has only just begun.
I only discovered Steemit recently and it has become my go to site for news and information. From a social media standpoint alone the growth potential is huge. Steem technologically and creatively continue to evolve. Steem has multiple developers, multiple platforms and multiple potential uses for multiple audiences.

It is easy to say that prices are gonna skyrocket but, we need to be more objective. I believe 3 digit price will be on the agenda soon, but 1500 per steem seems unreal in 5 years. The crypto boom is still in the early stage but that doesn't mean that we are going to see 1000x increases. doubling, tripling, 10X is more real. Even if prices reach $500 per steem the intrinsic value will be different and lower. Speculation is a thing, that may earn you a perfect life or a disaster.
Yep Post good content to help the site get more members and visitors and if everyone can do that it will continue to grow and most likely our grow youtube and facebook combined. The key combination is how steemit share s revenue with its members and contributors an idea we have not seen much anywhere else as yet.. but there will be copycats coming out I am sure, but if steemit continues to improve their platform to stay the market leader like facebook and youtube and google have done that I can see the price of Steemit continue to go up all the time.. Well, you appear to have stumbled on your price prediction for 2018... any revisions or updates to your original thoughts. I see Steemit continues to grow in number of accounts, and should reach over 1 million soon. I agree with you for the most part, but it will take some time until mass adoption hits. Then.... You are right. In order for Steemit to replace Facebook it would have to change its functions to allow people to connect in different ways. Adding friends, making groups, and chatting with other people are necessary. This is something that onG.Social is addressing and in my opinion is key for the success of a social media platform. Steemit has a bright future as a blog social media platform, but I see onG as a better candidate to replace Facebook.
That is the same thing that was said of bitcoin some years ago when people predicted it was going to replace or outpace fiat money. I strongly believe steemit can replace facebook. I have over 1000 contacts on Facebook and I barely use it now. Steemers! Have faith and keep in blogging and Steem up. There is light at the end of the tunnel

What other comparables are there that may warrant that type of prediction? Reddit is the extreme end of the spectrum, the oustanding success.
How would it compare if SteemIt ends up like HackerNews or Slashdot or Digg?
The price prediction is based on the growth of Steemit, not Reddit. By showing Reddit has 8 billion pageviews monthly I was showing the potential.
For Steemit to achieve the $1500 five year price target it would need to grow roughly to the size of Digg and it's 55 million pageviews monthly.
The potential is there easily for Steemit to do this.

Your argument sounds compelling. What strategies can new members use to help raise page views (since they seem tied to value growth)? Ie, are people coming to steemit posts via search and therefore boosting page views, or do page views need to be grown from within?
We get paid on the first 7 days the article is posted here on Steemit. The upvotes come from Steemit readers and especially followers. Network, comment, post good content and grow your followers.
Steemit grows as a whole through new visits via search engine, which in turn become new members, and in turn new followers and increase the price of Steem.
So we all benefit as the platform and community grows.
I found Steem it through search. It seems to be popping up on google for a lot of search terms. This will help it spread fast.
What would Steems market cap be at $1500?
Bitcoin is trading at $2500 with $40 Billion dollar market cap. Steem current has almost a half billion market cap. Now last year in June 2016 Bitcoin had a $10 billion dollar market cap. Considering altcoins can easily become a multi trillion dollar industry within five years I think the $1500 target is conservative.

Well to be honest they have PROOF OF UTILITY and we use it on the plaform right now. Unlike other cryptocurrencies like Tron who are unproven and built on paper and hype.

Firstly, great work in your post. Has a lot of us thinking.
I'll try have a go at valuing Steem. If you identify the valuations of the incumbents in the space Steem.it wants to disrupt, I think of Reddit and You Tube (at this stage I dont see it becoming a Facebook and it probably shouldn't try to? It could end up doing too much etc..).
Current valuations for (from various sources):
Reddit: ~$1.8 Billion
YouTube: ~$75 Billion
Let's say Steem could replace these two (unlikely but let's just say it does).
That's a total valuation of $76.8 Billion.
76,800,000,000/ 263,516,864 (total steem) = $291.4 (assuming all users move over to steem)
This is best case scenario for overtaking incumbents at current valuations. However, Steem could prove to be more valuable to people so it may overcome this.
If Steem.it just replaces Reddit we could see a price of Steem at ~$6.83 (assuming all users move over to steem).
If Steem.it just replaces YouTube we could see ~$284 (assuming all users move over to Steem (or Dtube rather)).
My pick would be that Steem gets to somewhere in the $100-200 range in the next 5-10 years especially if they focus on developing/marketing Dtube.
A $1500 price for Steem would be a $395.3B valuation. Which could actually happen if Steem was on a global scale but keep in mind this is half the current valuation of Google. Facebook has a $500B valuation and it has a fairly hefty user base (2 billion). This is pretty ambitious. You would need approx. 1.6 billion users on Steem to be around a $400B valuation based on Facebook's data.
This post lays the ground work for true valuation. I think this price is ambitious, but anything in this space is possible. Nice work!
Id love to think cat hit $1000 but how can it reach that price if the supply of their tokens doubles every year which decreases the value of each Steem?

It seems like there’s a pattern when there’s isn’t. Energy doesn’t follow frequency levels we do, and the stock market. Steemit will grow it will reach value their is no pattern. It’s s sequence of random events.
