I will give anyone who can respond to my post with good comments relating to the topic of the week and engage with each other throughout this particular week, a certain SBD amount. As my power has not reached a level where I can upvote handsomely, so I will count your engagements that are good, accumulated it and then I will pay you through my wallet the total amount after the 7-days post-payout done, For example, 0.05 per good comment x 10 comments = 0.5 SBD. Aside from this, you will earn also from my upvote although not much, just 0.03 per upvote (depending on my voting power), but if you accumulate them, it is an easy daily earning for you plus the weekly one. (p/s: I have issues with my voting power all the time, so please bear with me. I will upvote accordingly after I have restored my voting power).

My experience with contests
I love contests, I have participated in many contests. It's the best way to blog when you don't have any idea to write. You got to earn SBD and SP from your contest entry posts while having the chance to perhaps win any of those contests right. I have joined photo contests, drawing contests, meme contests, photobomb contests, googlyeyes, etc etc. I have then understood where my strength lies. All my winnings were related to writing, means not in drawing, memes, photobomb or photography and that's how I then focus my entries on entering writing contests. You could actually analyze the same for yourself. I have no time to participate in any contest now, but I enjoyed the experience. Below is the list of my winning entries with links:

Congrats Shanu...Winning is always sweet....I think there is some similarity in liking between us from the two links I opened. One is Royal Enfield...Its my passion and my weekness too...It is hard to explain the happiness in riding a bullet in early morning time before sun starts it journey in slightly cool weather. Mmm, I didn't know about busy.org!?
I haven't used it but it basically does all the formatting for you, without you having to put in any special characters for the most part. So you can write your entire article on there and then it has a way of moving it straight to steemit so that you don't get any copy/paste infringements.

Hello! Hello! Steemit Topic # 4, hello @inie.kashif, I like to participate in competitions, such as @votovzla, @cervantes, and minor contests, it is a way to stay active and achieve climbing positions, I have not won competitions as such, but I have managed to receive votes in my post.

There's something for everyone, so I hope the HHG members stop by and participate in some of the contests. The numbers continue to grow, and yesterday I had 50 contests listed for the first time ever! That's especially notable because normally I see a dip in the number of contests over the weekend. I think 60 and even 70 contests running at the same time could be coming soon!

is it really possible to fix a bench mark to evaluate the comments. Just my apprehension.
@angelro - The is no need for an apology, as there is no requirement to do so.
(Just as a matter of guidance) - this discussion we having right now - does not get the label ON THE TOPIC - as we are having a discussion on something other than the "topic of the week", which should be content related to contests. Which is really the point of the tag (ON THE TOPIC), to separate discussions relevant to the 'topic of the week' from those which are not. By placing the tag 'ON THE TOPIC' we essentially pre-evaluate our own in terms of quality and relevance to the topic of the week, and thereby direct her only to those comments we feel fit for her to curate. This would save her tons of time and hopefully not have to disqualify any of our comments.
Yes, it is entirely possible to set a standard for evaluating comments. That my dear friend is the business of curation. lol! However, that is not my intent or desire - @ainie.kashif has her own criteria. If it were not possible, then then everything related to this SBDgiveaway would be pointless.

I love competition. There are many advantages to the competition here. For example, it helps you when you can not find the subject, Or you can win a cash prize. You can research to learn new ideas. You can benefit from different views of different people. Also you cancontact new people. I participated in many competitions. But now I do not remember their names. :). I did not win any contest. It's a pity for me. It can also break people's trust. I also said that in our previous activity. I'm busy now, so I can not compete. But if I have a chance, I'm thinking of joining. This is an opportunity for me to communicate with new people. I hope I win a competition someday. Good luck everybody...

If it says ColorChallenge, then it is a Challenge. Most of these tell you what the color of the day is like yellow. So for this you could take a picture of a yellow flower and put it as an entry for the contest. Although some can be different.
Each challenge will list the Rules and that will tell you how to participate.

Hi there, I have participated in 1111 contest it was a nice contest where you have to write about a given subject with exactly 1111 words. It was some puzzling but finally I managed. It was fun to do. I didn't got any price thought. but that didn't matter. I also participated in some challenge, where one challenge was about the 30 day writing challenge. Everyday there was a quiestion which you had to answer in a seperate post. There was nothing to win, but the goal was to 'learn' to write good posts. I learned a lot in this challenge, to write consequent, grammar :) and formatting posts. I will participate in more contests that is for sure !!

I've got a story writing contest booked for today.
I think contests are a good way to engage with people on steemit.
Even if you don't win, you still get your name out there.

Hahaha! Actually, the way you and I are chatting right now is not the "topic of the week" we are discussing the new rules. So on these we do not put on ON THE TOPIC.
Also there is a lot of fun also going on with jokes and greeting but the point of the SBD is to reward only high quality content for the topic of the week.
But the real reason for the rule is to help @ainie.kashif to quickly check the post and add SBD and curate. She only count those, that start with ON THE TOPIC.
Even if all your comments are on the "topic of the week" she must still read every one to be sure, this can use a lot of her time. If we use ON THE TOPIC she just ignore the ones which don't have it. Also lots of other people's comments make it difficult to spot what is relevant and what is not.
By putting ON THE TOPIC or Not we pre-evaluate our own work and say to @ainie.kashif, this comment is quality comment for the topic of the week and this one is not. You can check my comments as example, that which has ON THE TOPIC and that which has not. You can also see that how easy it will be for here to count only the relevant items.
Finally, it is important for all HHG member to know this rules because when HHG becomes very big, then we must all help the newbies to understand the rules.

I need to clarify, HHG is not a contest, it is more of a social group where we support each other and newbies. Your are rewarded for comments relevant to the topic. Here also encourage support to the group to be better Steemians.
As you know it is not easy to make a social connection online on Steemit. Many social interactions happen offline in the discords. This is not always good news for newbies. This is why it is good idea to participate in HHG, in order to make the social connection.

The answer is YES and NO. I have never taken an interest in these contests (and in hindsight) possibly to my detriment.
So, while I could not participate with you guys yesterday, I could see everything that was going on. So I did some checking out of all the contests that you put up in the post. So I prepared an entry into the Caption Contest. So literally minutes ago, I entered my first contest. YAY! (I admit that was sneaky, lmao!)
I am also planning to check out, the other contests as well I suppose that ought to keep me out of trouble. :))

I am very anxious about the various contests, because I don't have the right skill skill set for it, I 'm not much interested in photography, I'm not very arty, also I don't do creative writing too much. Also the the contests have many professionals in them so It's very difficult to win.
So all the progress I make on Steemit, is by using logic, using the rules, being consistent, not using time consuming posts, just being efficicient to make steem. But it is a mistake, because contests can give you a lot of Steem Power & SBD.

To add what you have said, not only is important not to give up and keep trying. It is important the all our members understand we do Stemmit for the love of it, also then we choose the contests we love. So even though I don't win I am still satisfied. The money is little and it's a bonus, to get paid to have fun. But one day all our fun will add up and pay us well. :)) This is why I have decided from now on I will do lots of contests.

I'm sorry you did not win the contest. But you do not be desperate. If you like photo competitions, you can take more photos. I think photo contests are simpler. Because you do not spend much time writing articles. This is an advantage for you.
Well, so far I haven't participated in any for two reasons. The first is I'm kind of a one-issue-blogger (anyone glancing at my blog will see a definite pattern to what I write about) and there's not a lot of contests that relate to it.
Though I've always thought that I might eventually use this platform to publish some fiction as well, and that brings me to reason number 2 why I've not participated (so far) in any contests: there just don't seem to be any contests fitting any stories I would write, any more than there are for the articles I write.

I get your point, about being a one-issue-blogger and there not being contests related to that. This is probably the best reason why you should participate in non-related contests. By being as specialised as you are, it has the consequence if isolating you. The contest we expose you to other Steemians you would otherwise not meet.
The second reason for doing contests is to test your own skills and talents in other areas, that you may not have thought about otherwise (and the extra SBD and SP incentive helps).
Finally, you have a unique opportunity to develop and create a contest in your subject matter, this will do 3 things;

I completely understand your hesitation to entering into contests. I had the same feeling as I wanted my blog to only focus on my writing. Eventually I saw some contests that tickled my creative side enough that I realized that almost everyone on here likes to participate as part of the fun of being in the steemit community and also that they will know it is not a reflection on my writing.
However I fully support your decision in not participating if you feel they do not speak to you yet. I hope that you will find one that does and you can knock it out of the park!

I have been a bit scared to participate in contests, given the magnitude of competitors that are on steemit. But everyday I have gotten a bit more gutsy and have now participated in three very different contests. I am putting my feelers out to see which ones I like the best, and I love a good challenge that I would normally not put myself up to or write about.

Regret to let you know all that I never came across such vast number of contests though my available time on SM was a constraint. All I heard about a Color challenge competition and something like everyday life story contest. More over it is a new information to me that such Steem money is a reality if one wins a competition. And now i feel as our respected leader Ainie pointed out regarding my Steemit history it may be true that my 6 months gone waste..
But I believe in BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, so let this group may happen to be turning point..

NEVER feel like you have wasted time, as look how far you have come with such limited time on SM and you are at 36! The contests are never going away. Quite the opposite as there are more and more continuing to surface. And you will find one that you can't help but make time for. Proud of you for acknowledging that you can put some effort into finding a contest to participate in. Go in a good way.

Quite a happy news.. after joined in around September i was relatively free from job etc for few weeks and was so active in Steemit and I continued with almost same intensity after establishing a buisiness for my livelyhood. Now with this HHG group Steemit slowly became part of life.
I never noticed few of u peole are having less reputation than me. We will work together to achieve greater heights personally and collectively for this group...

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late comment, where I live we are having lots of problems, blackouts every day, many times a day and when the electricity is back, there's no internet.
ON THE TOPIC.
I like constests, I think they allow you to think outside the the box, you can meet new peoble and they help you to promote the things you do in your blog.
I would like to blog more, add more drawings, paintings, stories and photos, but at the moment, with all the problems I have, contests have been a great help to keep me posting, I make a list of contests I like and for the rest of the week I focus on doing something in my free time, during blackouts with enought natural lighthing or at night with my little reading lamp.
I have participated in the next contests:
State of the Sndbox Cometition: it is about designing the monthly thumbnail for State of the Sndbox. I participated in the last month entry.
Zen Colouring Contest: it is about painting mandalas. I participated in last week entry.
1ra Edicion de #concursadibujaygana / Dibuja y pinta una rosa: It was about drawing and painting a rose.
Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest: It is about taking pictures of abounded things and following the indications of each week. I have partcipated 2 times.
ART CONTEST: It's about drawing and painting what the host asks for. I have participated 2 times and won 1.
Sticky note challenge: this is one of my favorites, is about making art in sticky notes. I have participated 3 times, last week I won and I'm waiting for this week.
Supernatural Writing Contest: it was about writing a story based on a super natural event.

Sad to hear about the power issues that you are facing. It must be not you alone but the whole people in your location. We are helpless other than sharing your pain in this virtual world which may not going to make any difference eventually. But try to find ways to inspire yourself with whatver way it is possible to overcome such adverse issues. Is solar panels a possibilty, just asking.
Any how happy to meet you here and also by reading like many others you too are fond of challenges. I also participated in few color challenges which I may post few links later.

Hello @algelro, thank you for your words, it really helps to have support. Yes, it's in my state and I believe in other states. The blackouts are not consistant, so you never know when they are going to happen, sometimes it just 2 hours a day, sometimes 8 split in different times or sometimes 8 straight.
As for solar panels, saddly it isn't a possibility, my country is facing a ecomonical crisis which is affecting everyone, right now the inflation is 6,500% and our currency is kinda worthless, for example today for me to get 1$ I need 226,317Bs (my currency is Bolivares) and the minimun wage is 549.705Bs and with that amount you can buy an egg carton with 36 eggs and a family has to survive a month with that money. Sorry for the rambling, sometimes I can't hold the frustration.
During the blackouts I read, write and if there's enough light I draw and paint, so at least it hasn't stop me. I also got a few ideas of things I can post.

There is no point in sympathizing which I never likes, so be strong. Every person in this universe is facing some sort of problems. You are belongs to part of America is it.
Many countries seems to be prosperous and shining but you know if you goes to dig up the nook and corner you may see much adverse situation everywhere. Lets Hope for the best and Prepare for the worst.

I am happy to participate in this #HHG4 for my second time in this united community. And since our topic today is really interesting. At first, I was thinking to do blogging only on topics I'm interested to. That's why I started my journey here by writing stories about my experience, travel and life challenges. But for a busy person like me it takes ages before I could finally finish my writings but I wonder why my friends here in steemit can make a post easily and even published many post in a day! And that's where I found out that most of them join dailycontest and photography contest. And they encourage me to join since I love taking photos as well and so I try! I usually join daily contest of @juliank and @kalemandra photocontest. Wow you really need to stop and realize how amazing it is not get recognition in contests when you consider how many people apply. That is so amazing. I feel like that is winning as well.
