In real fish life, being a minnow probably is not a very good thing. Minnows are food of the big fish like whale and sharks (but I have read sharks don’t eat minnows) and dolphins, too! But don’t get too sympathetic about minnows because they, too, eat other small species of creatures in the sea.
In Steemit ecology, minnows are very important in terms of their voting power.
Voting power, you say?
They have no voting power! Look!
I am currently holding 0.294M Vests and falls on the $30 line. My vote is worth $0.01 and doesn’t give even the slightest nudge on a post’s potential earnings.
Now, what’s the worth of those who just signed up? If their vote is worth $0.00, what good is their vote for?
Now that there is a good question. And the answer to that is...

Reputation says a lot about how people perceive us, what they say about us. Reputation is NOT something we build IN ourselves but it is something people build FOR us by what they see IN us.
In the context of Steemit, low reputation affects your post’s exposure and the way people see your posts. And ultimately YOU as a person.

When a WHALE flags your post your reputation will definitely suffer it’s not even funny. With malicious intent on your reputation, big players can really put you to the ground.
With the votes of minnows, your situation can be mitigated. This is where we see the collective power of minnows.
There is strength in numbers! This has been true throughout centuries!
