I decided to stop posting for a while until the flaws are corrected.
It seems useless to be posting quality content and analysis as i'm not inside any big whales vote list and the other users are only trying to make more curation rewards by up voting posts of users who are inside those lists. There is even a tutorial on how to make more curation rewards and of course this comes at the cost of the minnows community.
I see no point in using my precious time for this platform at this moment. The content we post is mostly read by no one, bots are deciding what to up vote or not. Everyone is very selfish here, trying to make as much bucks as they can.
Also the fact that i can't delete my content after 12 hours is a turn off, because if my content makes no rewards i see no point in keeping it here for free. The last fact is that after 30 days you will make nothing as the posts are locked up, so no long term revenue, and i don't like it.
I am close to getting to a similar conclusion.
I came to the platform exhilarated about a system that promised to let good quality content bubble to the top (both in terms of attention and in terms of reward).
What I find is that the "attention economy" here is no better than on other platforms, i.e. as an author one has to spend two thirds of the time marketing oneself, trying to game the system, grouping the whales etc. etc.
It is quite disappointing - especially since a few relatively small tweaks as have been discussed in various threads would probably be sufficient to change the situation.
It does show that Steem(it) has been created and is dominated, by people with interest and talent in fields of technology and economics but not so much in a creative field.
looks like i have seen this video tutorial that you just have to upvote post from users under your following list
Yeah, I see the same flaws. Hive voting etc. A lot of people aren't even reading the blogs, they just upvote what is popular. It's ridiculous. I will miss your analysis of the price though. I'm still wondering how long this platform can survive if most people are not investing.
Really sorry to see you are stopping your posts. I do agree that there are problems that need correcting, and hopefully in time that will happen... It is in beta afterall.
And with any new system some people will always choose to milk the system until its fixed.
Hope to see you back here sometime soon my friend
Will you still be running the URBAN PHOTO CONTEST? I thought that was a great idea. HERE are my entries. If not, that's fine, but I know the only way to be sure not to succeed at something is to quit. You've got a good reputation and quite a few followers (I had 52 followers a week and a half ago). I would recommend branching out, and exposing more people to yourself. Do some more photos, do a reminder for the black and white Urban Photo Contest, put a post in #food about one of your favorite meals and try a little #writing or #poetry. The more people who are exposed to you, the more may choose to follow you, The more options you give them, the more likely you will be to get noticed and the more likely even a whale may like what you are up to.
Obviously it is your choice, but I too, would hate to see you go. Either way, thanks for inspiring me to take some more photographs, @papa-pepper
