This strong contrast photograph of the Dragon Tree was taken in Icod de los Vinos, Tenerife. It is not a typical example of this type of tree that people would picture, nor it is in such a place with all the concrete environment surrounding it; but seeing all the light and shadows at that moment indicated only one thing. This tree is an old model and wants to be pictured.
As a whole composition everything fits perfectly. Main subject is positioned in center, somewhat detailed in the upper part but not too much to hold eyes for longer period of time. As we start to notice surrounding space of the tree cables that are attached to trunk, our eyes are forced to move to middle part of the picture. Low amount of sun that is obscured by the bush and emitted from behind created strong contrast where black and white are main sources of coloring. Simplicity in the context of color spectrum.
Nature is always here to help us and give us push when we are stuck. Small digression; it might be inapplicable to talk that way as we are a part of the nature and we are the nature, but modern human likes to distinct himself from almost everything that cannot talk or express the way he does. Here is one of the most easiest ways we can help nature, leave it alone and support it if support is needed. Just give her a hand, don't destroy her thinking it might be a threat to your home as seen in this example. It is your home, we just need to get back to roots; bloody roots.

A spectacular tree indeed, it must have witnessed more history than us.
Fun fact: it can get old up to 365 years... so, surprise, it is not that old as some others are...
That's a cool tree! Reminds me of a Joshua tree.
Just googled it..kind of just this one is a bit more bigger
Amazing picture. At first I thought it was a painting:)
Thanks...

Great shot, and YES, nature is our home, we must respect it. 😊
Always was, always will be.
Utterly beautiful. I like the colors and softness of this photo, Awesome work.
Thanks, softness is one adjective that really describes it. Thank you good stranger(s in the night)
:))
I love the way you described you photo! :) And it's lovely shot!
Thanks, I do my best to explain how why and what I see and reasons for do so...it is hard es English is not my native language...
Many people just drop a photo and let it sit there with no description. That's why I enjoyed something different :)
What is your mother tongue? Mine is Slovak :) Even though I started to forget a lot as I don't live in Slovakia for many years..
Mine is Croatian...so hey there Slavic Bro!
I have a friend from Croatia (she is actually Croatian Bosnian). Her parents emigrated to Switzerland during the war.. I've never been to Croatia but I'm planning to go for a few years already.. I hope to make it there one day!
Be sure to do so, and go through whole country, not just seaside.

What a beautiful shot of an unusual looking tree.
Nice job @psyceratopsb
Gaz
Yeah, it is native to that part of the world.
This strucks me. Leave it alone but support if it needs the support. Hmm... That is a nice photo of an unusual tree @psyceratopsb :)

Yes, in a sense that we don't need to change the nature, but try to live with her...If the tree is threating your house, there is no need to destroy the tree, rather than that try to incorporate it inside your surrounding. Heck it is going to be there longer than you..
Of course we cannot leave nature as per se, we need it, we are part of it...but we don't need to destroy it to satisfy our needs...
Example, I have a bag of chips that is one big bag and inside 6 smaller bags. Why? So that people eat less and control them selfs as its a junk food. But do we really need to put our health ( that is just human will to stop eating or doesn't eat if it is bad food in this case. not life threating) in front of health of the planet?
Thank you so much for your elaborate further explanation. It makes perfect sense!!!

That is a beautiful tree! I am curious...why all the cables? Is it old and needs support, is a new transplant, has it been damaged in some way?
Id say from layman view it is supported so it don't fall on any side during winds. As they can get up to 350years old, and it is not that much...
That's an interesting tree
And thank you for walking us through the thought process of the capture 😊
It was my pleasure to do so.
Nice tree. Where about in Tenerife?
It is written in the first sentence. Icod de los Vinos is the name of municipality.
I love trees
Tree good 🌲

Great shot the dragon tree tells much stories and we should care about and appreciate it. thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend
Thanks for your kind words and good wishes.
What a beautiful tree!!
Dragon tree has a unique structure. Branches are flowing upwards instead of downwards. It look like it’s looking up the sky. It make sense why it’s called a “dragon tree”.
Love how this tree fills the sky with spiky top giving character @psyceratopsb
