I have written about lying before; about five months ago, in a fairly humorous way.
I believe I covered it quite comprehensively in general terms but I want to discuss more deeply the impact lying has upon the family and upon the offender. Some of these considerations can only be perspectives that a person may observe about another.
- Lying makes the liar look stupid. How often the liar thinks that their “story” is foolproof. Yet how many times have we seen THAT backfire. Most people who may be aware of the lie are too polite to directly confront the offender, but how badly has the reputation of the liar been damaged?
- Lying destroys the credibility of the liar. Whatever is told will always “be taken with a pinch of salt”, in other words, it is just like the fable where the boy cried wolf once too often and when real danger presented itself, the community did not believe him to the detriment of all.
- Previous acts and statements made by the liar will be relooked at and other lies exposed. The poor liar’s reputation will be further damaged as old crimes will be found which a hearer may have thought to be truthful. No longer will be benefit of the doubt be given to the liar.
- Restoration of reputation can never really be achieved. The liar will be trapped in a stereotype of a liar. Even when being truthful and sincere, their reputation will stick with them. The poor liar will always be on the run, moving away from their past.
- People will now look at the family of the liar and wonder about the defects of the parent/(s). Did the parents punish the child for being truthful? Did they allow the child to escape any consequences for lies? Sadly, the lying child has brought dishonour to their family, this may be extremely unfair on the parents.
- The victims of the liar often are injured in some way or other by the liar. Yet the greatest victim of the liar is the liar themselves. These poor people live in a fantasy world, where the future holds so much promise. Yet they just never seem to get around to it, doing the unpleasant things in order to succeed. They never live in the unpleasant present, they are never happy in the present. They don’t like to think about the past as it is also painful.
- I was reading in the scriptures (the Bible) the other day and I remembered something about the fate of liars. The Book of Revelations in the last two chapters has some stern words from the Saviour himself. Firstly in chapter 21, the 8th verse.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Then of course in the last chapter of the Book of Revelations, reading from verse 13:
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Wow, pretty stern words. But I got to wondering why? Why is a murderer chucked in the same basket as a liar? Yes I know the concept of any sin disqualifying us from the presence of God, yet could one glean more in understanding?
What is so bad about a murderer? We know it is one of the Ten Commandments (just as bearing false witness is also). I also believe that we are put on this world to progress and learn things, both about God and ourselves. Murder stops a life from progressing. If we commit a crime, a “lesser” crime like stealing for instance, it is possible to “fix” things up, to return that which we stole, to “restitute” the injured party back to the stage they were before the crime of theft was committed.
Yet how can a murderer make things right for the person they have killed? Can they restore life? No, they can’t. Obviously and hopefully, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can help pay the “price” of the crime for the repentant offender, but if unrepentant, the offender is doomed.
So a Murderer kills others.
But a Liar could end up killing themselves?
How we might wonder? Possibly because a liar is unable to honestly repent. They twist their reality into a fantasy and they do not see things in a clear light. Without honest repentance, a person’s progress is halted, we could even say that the liar is already in a state of damnation. Could that be why Christ puts murderers, whoremongers and liars in the same bracket? Because each party damages the foreordained progress of God’s spirit children that have been placed here on earth?
Quite a sobering thought. I reckon I shall have to stop lying, even if it is for fun. A point may come when the convenience of skilful lying could be used by myself in a more serious situation and I could damage my progress.
Remember the “good old days” when a man’s word was his bond? I would like to think that I am like that. How about you?
May you live , healthy and long life, i always pray for your health and wealth.
Wow my dear friend your writing is very good and like a professional writer but photo is very dangerous.
it is a seriously disturbing photo that illustrates graphically the consequences of being a habitual liar (IMHO)
Lying destroy our humanity. It's one of the worst habit of a human. A liar is the curse of society. Even God hates the liar. We should remove this bad habit. Thanks sir @fred703 for talking about important topics.
A wonderful review, my friend and for me a lie has always been unacceptable, because in the end, better bitter truth than a sweet lie! Thank you @fred703
Nice way to put it
i appreciate your life.thanks for share your inportant concept. Thanks sir @fred703
Yes I agree with you..
So keep it up..
It's anything but difficult to perceive any reason why individuals mislead others:
to keep their occupations, to evade a contention with somebody, to secure their notoriety, or in light of the fact that they figure everybody will be in an ideal situation for it.
It's wrong, we know, yet once in a while we assume that doing as such is the best choice in an ocean of terrible decisions.
my dear wife never thinks of consequences, makes the immediate moment difficult but clears everything and the long term consequences are not so severe when compared to subtle dishonesty
Great religion @fred703
I like it your every Post. I appreciate your valuable content. thanks for sharing your beautiful life.
It’s easy to see why people lie to others: to keep their jobs, to avoid an argument with someone, to protect their reputation, or because they think everyone will be better off for it. It’s wrong, we know, but sometimes we figure that doing so is the best option in a sea of bad choices.
agreed, I suppose careful planning of what to say. important to keep a reputation of honesty.
Agreed. Your reputation explain that that what you are
Lying is probably one of the most common wrong acts that we carry out (one researcher has said 'lying is an unavoidable part of human nature'), so it's worth spending time thinking about it.
Thanks for sharing this post.i appreciate your life.... I like it this post.
Nice thoughts. Yes it would skew a perception of their own world so it would make it hard to change. Since most lies affect our own perceptions....good thoughts to ponder.
I suppose it also makes it difficult for the ones affected to trust that they truly have indeed changed, so the cause of the lies may never truly be rectified on the victim either.
the tragedy of loss of trust can take many years to rectify, even for the poor offender. I suppose the best route to take is "be a sucker and believe them", but carefully. However is that really trust? Tough one to find the correct way to apply mercy
Many times we believe that lying will bring us solutions and maybe yes but at the moment it is like to get out of step but this eventually brings us more problems than we already had
the sad consequence is indeed the escalation of the situation, of turning a molehill into a mountain
very hart touching blog.
As I was reading this, I remember the Proverb "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out."
You can always make a fool out of one person but you can never fool God.
that is the emphatic truth!!
This is religion fact but I am not support this issue..
So I say that this situation all people their own perspective..
So I agree with you..
Keep it up..
I watch shows like Survivor and the lying and deceit that takes place and it really does shock me. I know it is only a game but these people blatantly lie straight to someones face. The shake hands on a deal and have no intention of keeping it. I don't think I would be able to do that.
What does this sort of behavior teach our children?
So true, I used to love watching it but it made me feel strong feelings of antagonism towards the players. I never watch it anymore. What is good about such a show? all it teaches is hypocrisy and being prepared to do anything for money. It is poisonous in my opinion
@originalwork
fabulous one.

Lying is a bad habbit
Great religion @fred703 sir
I like it your every Post.. thanks for sharing this sir..
police negotiators lie to save people. sometimes it is necessary to do a good deed
interesting situation to point out. It is as you say. From a moral perspective what can I see here? Firstly the police negotiator is dealing with a negative situation, an evil situation created by a criminal or a lunatic. Thus when the police negotiator is lying (a negative act), could we not say that two negatives make a positive? (Joke - I know of the proverb that says two wrongs don't make a right). I recently saw a case where Australian police were on a pedophile site for over a year trying to catch the mastermind behind the site. The controversy was that many criminal acts were being committed without the police doing anything. Hmmm, this is a concept I am passionate about. I will have to put some thoughts down in a blog about this
really nice post
Its really being a motivated speech..
My prayers are all with you @fred703
it's a great theme ..great to share...

So sad my best friend.
awesome concept sir..i like this..thanks for share your inportant concept.
You are right, lying is a crime. Usually when people start lying once then other lies will arise to mendompleng his first lie.like @fred703
God bless you my friend strength and faith so that you recover
just a picture to illustrate a concept, not me. (yet) :)
Lies have short legs, so they say. When you get used to lying, you get a dishonest and false personality, then without realizing it, we implement the lies as if they were our daily bread. Sooner or later the truth comes out, even if we don't want to.
I like that idea of lies have short legs, maybe an excuse for me as I am short. :)
Its tremendous article. heart touching writing. I wish you will be back strongly as soon. God bless you.
Beautiful religion sir
