This is the Erasmus Bridge, named after famous Dutch priest and humanist Desiderius Erasmus. The brigde connects the North and the South of Rotterdam, which is divided in the centre by the river The Maas. With it's almost 300 meters in length and almost 150 meters in height, this bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest bascule bridge in Western Europe. The lights make the impressive bridge really stand out at night.
Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #95 - winner announcement!
@jpphotography Asian Sunday entry:
Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. Sigiriya is one of the few places in Sri Lanka that are overcrowded with tourists, despite the hefty entrance fee. I went early in the morning and had about two hours to climb the rock and enjoy the stunning view from the top of the rock with relatively few people around. On the way down, I passed by hundreds of tourists.
7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #95 – winner announcement!
@robbertb Australian Monday entry:
At the borders of an ancient forest on New Zealand's South Island, a lake, formed by a glacier 14.000 years ago, known as Lake Matheson provides an amazing view to Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman. The reflections in the lake are caused by the dark color of the water.
@drmincu Tuesday of Antarctica and world's oceans entry:
Manowar beach, in Dorset, is washed by the cold Atlantic waters. Yet when you look at it you may think it is one of the warm beaches of the Mediterranean. Go there at sunset for amazing views.

This photo was taken on the Alpine border between Italy and Switzerland. We went up throught famous Passo dello Stelvio and then we went on mountain to Piz Cotschen. On the way I took a picture of this scene.
The sunset can be particularly pleasant on a winter day in France. The north wind called Mistral makes everything look sharper, but makes the temperature drop dramatically and freezes your bones.
Amazing Sky over the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias in Valencia
The Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia is one of Spain's most controversial building projects: This architectural wonder went one billion Euros over budget and still, some buildings are already falling apart just years after opening. Nevertheless, this place is now an iconic landmark of Valencia and a highlight of any trip to this amazing city!

Sea of Clouds
If you are on holiday in La Palma, you shouldn’t miss a hike on the highest mountain of the island. This is the Roque de los Muchachos with an altitude of 2400 m. Thanks to this heigth you can step above the clouds and watch them from the other side.
Here you can read more about our hike.
Golubac fortress is located on the south side of the Danube River in Serbia. It was built during the 14th century. In one period of time it was on the border of Ottoman Empire so it has seen a fair share of big battles.
It was a pretty decent sunrise. As i was there only that morning i feel i was a bit lucky.
This is the Transfăgărășan! Dubbed by Top Gear as the world's best road to drive, it crosses the Făgăraș mountain range in Romania, windind through wonderful mountain sceneries. A challenging drive and an amazing place to photograph.

Photo of the Ostankino tower in Moscow. The height of the tower is 540 meters. The Ostankino TV Tower is not just a visiting card of the capital, it is a monument to the grandeur of the Soviet era and at the same time a look into the future of Russian television. From its very construction, the Ostankino TV tower has become one of the symbols of Moscow.
I found an interesting and unique foreshortening on the tower, from the courtyard, as if it was squeezed by houses.

The Logar Valley
One of the beauties of Slovenia is the Logar Valley, a road surrounded by incredible peaks. Cycling through those mountains during the winter provides the body and soul with tons of great energies.
Beautiful green landscape surrounding Marsalforn, a tiny coastal village located in the northern part of the Maltese island of Gozo. The village is known for traditional salt production as there are many salt pans in Marsalforn dating back centuries ago.
Tuscany is one of best touristic region of Italy. Not only for the wine, that is delicious, but also for its landscape and history. Here, near Montepulciano all is met in one place and it was a perfect spot for a lunch break.
That could be typical Baltic summer for a certain days period yearly. And so that was last two weeks a colder weather and frequent rainy periods.
Shot yesterday near the Ferry terminal in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
This place is very close to my house, so when I saw from the window rapidly approaching rainy front just grabbed my camera with tripod and run away.. quickly...
And even more quickly have to run BACK!!!! Not to get completely wet. Well, its few hundred meters away, so came back home almost dry... And all this running adventure was really worth the result
Enjoy it!

The Kugelmuguel Republic located at the Prater Park in Vienna Austria, it is a micro state that has a quite interesting history. It declared independence in 1975, because the artist Edwin Lipburguer wanted to build an spheric house in Lower Austria, and he did not get the permissions from the authorities. Due to that he was sent to jail. In 1982 the spheric house was moved to its present location in Vienna, where it is a touristic attraction.
Tremiti Island is one of the best locations in the whole situated in the southern part of Adriatic sea. San Nicola is the second largest of this archipelago and it from where the photo was taken. It is approximately two hours by ferry from the closest harbour in the Italian mainland.
The Piazza del Popolo in the beautiful and vibrant city of Rome. Here you can watch the world go by and be entertained by street performers. You may also wish to gaze up the outstanding romaneasque architecture.

This photo is taken in my city of birth, Ghent, in Belgium. It shows the 'Geraard de Duivelsteen' ('Geraard the Devil Castle). It is a gothic 13th century building. It served as a defense for one of the ports of the city.
It was named after the knight Geraard Vilain. His nickname was Geraard de Duivel (Devil) based on his dark complexion and hair color.

This photo was taken in Alqueva, an artificial dam in Alentejo region of Portugal. With the dam, the water flooded a lot of nearby fields, creating beautiful landscapes. This day was mostly clouded, but got a little clearer as the afternoon passed, giving this cool setting as we were aproaching the golden hour.
