The individual who wrote the program is heavily absent from IRC, community moderation is somewhat needed.

Abuse of IRPG using bots could be compared to rain/faucet siphoning and should potentially be dealt with, however I acknowledge that bans may have been hastily dished out. It's been a learning experience for everyone involved.

The owner of the bot actually told me to try and figure out some way to stop the cheating in the irpg, as well as in the now defunct (for the exact same reason) #gridcoin-games room... hence the creation of GRCB0T.

Its original intent was a tipbot that would be locked to email or some such. I have screenshots of his permission from March of this year.

He would honestly also prefer if we could get a different tipbot running on our stuff, so he could free his resources for other things. :)

So the wording of the vote: "heavily moderated" in particular, are what gets me. i take it the person or persons handing out bans wouldn't feel that their actions have been necessarily "heavy" but necessary? Has this person made any statement about their actions? Is there any way to disable the bot pending the outcome of this vote?

Thanks very much for your answer. I am interested in this vote, quite, and would like to have all the information. Sorry to barrage you with questions.

I put the question up on IRC for community input prior to creating it.

Has this person made any statement about their actions?

Rino has posted multiple times to this thread.

Is there any way to disable the bot pending the outcome of this vote?

We could kick the bot from the channel, but it's not advisable because it'd create a headache for the bot owner.

Sorry to barrage you with questions.

No worries, thanks for posting :)

Ok, thanks again, I'll peruse this thread further.
