"In my opinion, Welcome Wagon is the most underrated success story on Steemit" - @shadowspub
As I heard those words last week, it overwhelmed me with pride for our project, love for our family, and determination for the future! In the 4 months since the time that the Welcome Wagon was born in a Witness Chat, hosted by @shadowspub - things have evolved for the better!
Simply put, it's an individualized mentoring program that prepares Steemians for their journey, balancing their potential and ambition with the realities of a crypto-fueled platform. Over a seven day period, each new recruit is taught the fundamentals of Steemit through personal attention of a 3-SteemPeer (mentor) team. Though our initial plan was to create a one-on-one mentoring experience, we've found that the three-on-one ratio is much more conducive to the all-day support that we wanted to offer.
Though it does differ from recruit to recruit, here is a general overview of the subjects that we cover during our Training Week. It might look intensive, and to be fair - it is! However, our SteemPeers do an incredible job of balancing training with team building and fun.
- Day 1: Welcome and Introduction. Goals on Steemit? Who I am, who are you? What's your passion?
- Day 2: More about Steemit goals, Commenting, commenting commenting!
- Day 3: Posting, Copyright, Voting Power, Voting Slider
- Day 4: The Value of Voice, PYPT, other Discord promotion/ topic shows
- Day 5: Witnesses and Steem, Steem Currencies, Blockchain Basics, etc.
- Day 6: Tags, Finding your Niche, Community & Discords
- Day 7: Steemauto, Steemconnect, SmartSteem & bidbots? etc.
- Day 8+: Recap, Last questions, Next steps
Our initial intention was to train, equip, and set our recruits free into the communities of their choice. We never wanted them to feel that they were obligated to stay and "support" our project long-term. As a matter of fact, many of our recruits continued to ask us how they could pay us back. Our answer then, and now - is this: "Continue to produce great content, engage with other Steemians and support quality and genuine posts. When you help Steemit to thrive, you enhance our home. That is the "payment" that makes us all thrive." We fully expected them to leave "home" and go out and experience the Steemiverse. Instead, much to our delight, most have decided to stay and be a part of the Welcome Wagon vision. So, yes - we have Day 8 and beyond. It's a continual circle where we learn from one another, and excel together.
Our desire to impact the platform by increasing the retention rate through training and equipping new Steemians is a labor of love. All of our staff has a deep desire and vested interest to see Steemit thrive and go "to the moon and beyond". In order to best do that, we believe it takes a village. Joining our curation trail, writing meaningful comments, giving upvotes to our recruits and Grads, delegating SP - these are all amazing ways that you can be a part of the Welcome Wagon vision! We've even had creative ideas - people like @plushzilla offering to do a Bingo game for us to spread the word! (That idea was SUPER successful, by the way!) We love supporting Steemit, and we love to feel Steemit supporting us!
As we continue to grow, it is our absolute commitment to grow in a way that allows us to keep our strong sense of commitment to one another and to Steemit. It's my personal desire to grow slowly, so that we are able to have a strong, solid foundations. We hope to continue to build new partnerships and further develop current relationships with witnesses like @enginewitty and @c0ff33a / @derangedvisions; with community leaders like @ethandsmith, @shadowspub, and @calumam, and with fellow Steemians who just want to catch some of the fire with us!
Thank you so much for reading. I hope it's been a worthwhile investment of your time!

I am impressed by all of the mentoring programs available now for newbies. I didn't see this when I joined, and I'm starting to think that even if I've been around awhile, that I could use some mentoring myself.
Mentoring programs are a great response to the retention rates we're seeing of late. More than once, I have thought of quitting Steemit, but FOMO keeps me coming back. The very idea that STEEM could still rise, and has never returned 2016 prices is telling. So I'm still here.
Thanks for making me aware of yet another mentoring program.
hahahaha yes - haven't we all been there? I always say - yes, there are problems with Steemit that need to be fixed! However - show me a better platform, and I'll happily consider it! :)
For now - I love Steemit - with all it's faults, it's the family to so many of us! And a great place to share our hearts (and earn crypto too!) hehehehe
Thanks for the great compliments! We work really very hard at what we do! Hours and hours everyday given because we want newbies to succeed - and Steemit to succeed!!! <3
Mentoring is such an important part of a community. If you are expecting a specific level of quality, then you need to be willing to teach and encourage it. The only way to do this is to get your hands dirty and help out in the trenches where those who have a possibility of greatness will be.
We knew we wanted to try something different than what we were doing on YouTube so we just kind of jumped in. We are swimming; doggy paddling, but treading water all the same.
Ren
You are in the right place!!!
We feel like we do. There seems to be a lot of good people who can teach us and many others so much. I look forward to learning from them all.
Ren
You have that right! :)
We absolutely LOVE people who are willing to jump in there! So many of our recruits have totally surprised us by being willing to try new things at the drop of a hat! That energy is so encouraging and exciting to see! I love our beautiful spectrum of personalities in Welcome Wagon - and how we all build one another up - and reflect different facets of this shining diamond. Sound like I'm exaggerating? hehehehe I'm really not. Our family is extraordinary! :)
Good for you for making the switch to Steemit! We'll be keeping an eye on your posts! Welcome to Steemit!!! :)
We following a young man, Tom Scott, on YT and he just did a short video series about being a one hit wonder and how to avoid it. The thing that he said was that you have to be willing to try something different when the same old thing doesn't work. It fits in so well with what you just said, "willing to try new things." That is the sign of someone willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.
Ren
Very well written, @welcomewagon! Thank you for all that you do and most specifically for your high level of commitment to help newbies. More power to you!
Thank you our VERY FIRST newbie!! <3 You were so gracious to put up with all of the mistakes that were made as we tried to shape this program into what it is now. I will never forget all the hard work that you did, giving feedback, reading, and letting us learn from you! :)
And now - when I see you - I know you like to credit Welcome Wagon with your great achievement - but I know the truth. You were a shining star then - and continue to impress us with your fabulous ambition and drive to grow higher and stronger!
So much love for you my friend! Thank you for everything!!!! :)
Thanks for the love you have shown me, the steemians you are helping now, and those still to come!
As a graduate and member of the @welcomewagon family, I am most grateful for this truly underrated project. I am still a Newbie and I don't know if it is appropriate for me to compare WW with other initiatives, as I for sure don't know all similar projects.
For me personally, WW is a wonderful miracle full of love, that happened to me.
I was new here. I tried to give my best, when I posted articles. I wanted to meet new friends who are on the same wave length like me.
Not much happened the first days.
I got a little bit disappointed and then a little bit more. I hoped so much somebody would see my work. I hoped for discussions and feedback. It was hard. I felt somehow alone, trying to find my way around. So many questions I had. Whom to ask? Of course I wasn't courageous enough to ask members with a high reputation.
All changed for me, when I met @dreemsteem, @eveningart and the WW family. I have no idea, if I would be still around, If I wouldn't have met them.
I would have never learned, what a true community this is.
Thank you WW for the chance you gave me. A chance to grow and support the community.
Im equally happy to have met you our handsome @anutu! Your view to the world always astounds me and i love how you spread your big heart on the people that you love and care for..
You are not alone, I thought so too..
High five to you brother!! 🙋♀️

Queenie <3 Do your ears ring throughout the day? When we talk about you and giggle with delight about the joy that you bring everywhere you go! hahaha and the honestly that you approach the world! Your presence in Welcome Wagon has been a beacon of light, and so many are drawn to your sweet willingness to always engage in fun and encouragement!!!!
I see another comment by you - so I better save some of this for down there! hehehehe
Hahahha i was wondering why i kept biting my tongue though...
My giggles are only half yours.. hahahaha

Yes! Spread the joy!

We cannot imagine @anutu - what Steemit would be like without your shining light! It makes me sad that there are probably more and more people - extremely talented like yourself - that Steemit would be WITHOUT - simply because there was nothing in place to scoop them up and help them!
Not just the extremely talented! What about so many "regular" people like myself, who just enjoy having a voice and the opportunity to earn a little extra money for our contributions!
If the extremely talented are disenchanted -imagine the "masses". I know you're probably being very humble right now and saying you're not one of the extremely talented - hahahaha but you ARE!
All I can say is - I'm GRATEFUL that we DID find one another! and that there are people like our WW family that love... to love! and support :)
We are so glad that @eveningart had her eyes peeled for you! Let's not think about if you wouldn't be here or not... hehehehehe it's too upsetting ;)
Let's just be glad that our family was blessed with your presence! <3
After I read you reply, I was so touched. I was not able to write anything ...
honestly, I did not find any words ...
Yes, what about all the people, that just enjoy having a voice. They are so valuable, they matter! It's not that easy, to tell about your life, thoughts, share ideas. Also this means a lot. They for sure put also much love into their posts. I would love to have a better search function, to search more in detail for those posts.
I am also so GRATEFUL ... and still missing words ... <3
xx
FOR TSE: @theinbox has sent you a small gift from @dustsweeper. (Check your wallet.) It's a heck of a lot more value than my tiny upvote will give you, and it will help keep your under-rewarded comments from turning to dust.
I'll make sure your comments get voted. And if you'll keep posting regularly, I'll keep doing this. Just FYI.
Let's grow this account. The value between what you're giving and what you've gotten is appalling. I'm out to fix that.
Thank you so much @enchantedspirit! Your encouragement and counsel has been so valued these past few days! I think you know that :) We will keep posting - and hoping that our little beacon of light will keep drawing Steemians of Excellence to us! We firmly believe that the more amazing people that will STAY and INFLUENCE this platform will change the tides for us all!
I so appreciate your faith in us and thank you for the gift from @dustsweeper!!! Our 9 cent upvote for your comment pales in comparison hahahaha but it's all I have to give ;) well - that, and my thanks! :)
@dreemsteem, for the Welcome Wagon
A wonderful bunch of people indeed! I hope people who graduate from the program go on to also start their own success stories :)
Hi there @plushzilla!!!! Did you ever figure out if Dreem and @bengy were the same person? hehehe
The people who are our Grads - are in the MIDST of making their success stories, and it is a MARVEL and privilege for us to behold it! Thankfully, they're still making our discord their home, sharing their experiences with us and supporting other Grads!
We are so incredibly proud of our shining stars! Thank you for all that you did to help get our name out in the beginning! We are so grateful to people like you!
All this time I thought I had free will... But I was just a puppet of @dreemsteem... The realisation is somehow liberating....
What a cute puppet you are 😂😂😂😂😂😂
No one has confirmed or denied whether @bengy and I are the same person either :D But I am pretty sure that I am not a puppet or a clone (or a virtual reality simulation).
Ok... Now...mind blown.
Are we ALL the same people? Person?
I'm confused. Lol
Maybe some kind of hive mind? Collective consciousness??
Maybe some kind of hive mind? Collective consciousness??
Why do I feel compelled to upvote the comments from @dreemsteem and @plushzilla?
Wait.
I do as well.
WAIT!!!!!
WHO is the puppet and who is the puppetmaster!?!?!
Has my whole life been a lie!
I'm frightened 😨
By a process of deduction... it must be @plushzilla ....I knew he was more than he seemed!
I see it all now.
From the BINGO game!!!
He... We... Us? Masterminds!!!!!
Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!
You can see your post's place along the track here: The Daily Whistle Stops, Issue 245 (9/02/18)
Thank you @thesteemengine! I'll be thrilled to go check it out!!! :)
I am glad that Welcome Wagon is more and more recognized as a great initiative 💚
Thank you @zen-art!!!!! We wait wait wait for the return of our formatting queen! hehehehehehe until then - we love you for all the time that you've blessed us with! <3
It is my pride, honor and privileged to be part of the WW Family! Indeed, your underrated success have earned you great friends who are steeming higher than before and excelling in their own craft.
If it were not your consistent passion and interest in training lost little red fishes, we would have all been caught under the net. But you had taught us to wiggle our tails and swam further till we reach the end of the cliff. You taught us to be brave and not be afraid what lies beyond the cliff and explore the vast open sea. You had encouraged each one of us to get out of our comfort zones and experience new things.
Good thing, we know how to listen! Haha.. it feels so good to know we are heading into the right direction towards SUCCESS. Each of us has different goals to set and we are far from reaching it. But the enthusiasm and inspiration the family has given had keeps us from moving and striving better everyday.
Again, for the nth time...
THANK YOU WW FAMILY!! 😚❤
#proudwwgraduate
PS.
Hope that someday one of us will become a WHALE! Woooooooohoooo!

Yes, whale party someday for sure!!!! hehehehe and then - the trip for all of WW family right??? :)
I'm waiting for it!
Your comment gave me chills! Sometimes, I sit back and think... HOW did we get such a special group???? How is it that the feelings for one another are SO close and SO concerned with each other's growth??? We must have a magnet - that draws us all together, unified in our mission! hehehehe
Whatever it is - I'm thankful for it! Because it has made us THIS family, growing!
And Miss Queenie - it's not just you learning the things about Steemit - but us learning so many things from each of our Grads. ( I was almost going to start listing characteristics of each of you - but then this post would be MASSIVE) PLUS.... didn't I just do that the other day? hehehehe I should stop bragging about you all - you'll tire of me soon! hehehehehehe
I'm so glad that you're a proud WW graduate! We are proud of you as well <3
Yessss! Who knows where one might go.. life is full of surprises!
Haha me too, i dont know why i find it easy too to be instantly close to this family. I feel that i can give my trust with no hesitation. Its more like loving unconditionally, you just spread love. Its really overflowing. This group has only started new, but it feels like we have known each other for so long.. maybe we are all soul sisters and brothers..
Hahahaha yes please stop! Im already red as a tomato!
I love love this family!!! 😍😙

LOLOLOL she is like NO I'M NOT A WHALE!
and we are like "yeeeeeeesssssssssssssss you arrrrrrrre" hahahahahaha
Interesting Project indeed, and fell in love with the mission!
I've been involved for some time, and both the founder and Welcome Wagon mission itself are amazing.
I think what draws us to work with Dreemsteem and with Welcome Wgaon is the passion and enjoyment of making this platform better.
Thanks for supporting us, @stellabelle we appreciate it.
Very true... That is what connects us all... The desire to make our "home" on Steemit something that's worthwhile and lasting!!!
And @bluefinstudios. I won't start gushing... Hahahaha but I think you know just what you mean to all of us. the Grads say it every day!!!! But @saffisara and @eveningart and I see what you do and are amazed at how you do it ! please never stop!!!
True... You mean Sooo much to us all and brings much laugh and knowledge to us ❤️ your amazing @BluefinStudios And @dreemsteem you are my lovely sister ❤️ and we better not start... Might not be able to stop. @eveningart our butt hug sister.. Lol
they are doing great work @stellabelle... i see their students/grads coming through Pimp Your Post Thursday and am always impressed at the quality of what they create.
And me...proud "mama dreem" lololol always happy to parade my kids' accomplishments to everyone.
PYPT (and you, miss shadows) changed EVERYTHING.They're extraordinary!!! Happy there is a place like PYPT to give them the showcasing and networking that fit together like puzzle pieces for Steemit success! Truly. You know I'm not just bloking smoke @shadowspub!!!
Which is why it's part of our training! Hehehehe
Thanks for always encouraging their creativity!!!
Thank you @stellabelle! It IS an interesting project - and everyday it becomes more and more rewarding and special for us! We wish that there were MORE projects like ours so that people wouldn't get frustrated and take their amazing talents elsewhere!
Little by little, hopefully the vision will catch fire and other groups will form to have the same type of impact on our newbies - for the benefit of them, of us, and for all of the Steemiverse! :)
(and thank you so much for your generous upvote and resteem!!!! I just snuck into our channel and had to announce to them all that we had a whale swim by! hehehehee We talk all the time about whales swimming by - now it will be a REAL story for us! LOL Made our evening!
have a great night :)
Technically I’m an orca but unless this platform is good for everyone it will not work long term.. so it’s in need of a lot of work
Posted using Partiko iOS
Technically you are whale miss @stellabelle.. hahaha anything big are whales.. 🐳🐳🐳
Yes so true! It really is a lot of work. These people are very much willing to help little red fishes to swim in the big open seas. They are the guide, the light and the way on how things work here. They help nurture the baby enthusiasm until it becomes mature.
They have actually quite proven to produce graduates that are finally capable to be swimming on their own. I believe @welcomewagon can do more, adopt more. A little push from you guys wouldnt be so bad too.
Posted using Partiko Android
You are a whale to us 😉
And I agree... It gets a little overwhelming when I think about how to help EVERYONE. Because, honestly. We can't.
But we can start a little spark. And the spark can catch fire!
Sometimes we get so focused on the big picture (something I can get obsessed with!) that we forget about the very tangible... very important little things.
And little things DO grow up 😊
Hopefully we can keep pouring into Welcome Wagon in the baby stage, so that it becomes a healthy adult!
We are willing to do the work! And there are many newbies willing to do the work! They just need someone stand beside them until they find their own way.
We will! ♥️
I wish you would have had this going when I joined the platform. It would have certainly made my life easier. I agree that it way underrated!
Thanks @lymepoet! It's so cool to hear that people value this sort of program! I hope that in time- more and more programs will pop up like it, with the same type of heart! As long as there are Steemians wanting to learn and grow - there will always be a need for groups like us to exist!
Hi, I have finished reading. However I still did not get the how can I be part of it~Is there a detail explanation :D ?
We send out our "secret spies" hehehehe to go looking through the Steemiverse to read posts. We like to read without letting our potential recruits know that we are watching. We like to see what they do naturally, without knowing that Welcome Wagon is there.
By the time @welcomewagon leaves a comment, we have already been watching for a while :)
After that, we like to discuss personally through messages in DM ... How committed that they are to learning at a fast pace, and learning more about them, one-on-one.
And then we take it from there! 😊
(I think you know now.... I have been watching you) hahahahhahahhahaa
Ohhh man. That's scary hahaaa!!! But you are really interactive, and I like your way of interaction. Feel like very connected 😁😂. Well, enjoy watching me then. I'm very committed 😜😋 try to be discipline on my blogging!
Hahhaahaahaa no no no! Don't be scared! It's a nice kind of watching 😂
😂😂🤔🤔😬😬Okieee dokiee🤓
This is wonderful! I wish I had known about the Welcome Wagon when I found Steemit! Mentoring is a great idea! wow, well done @dreemsteem!
Thanks!!! It's definitely not all me! 😊
We have a fantastic network of people who love Steemit, love Welcome Wagon, and love to help and guide.
(Oh they all love to laugh too! Hehehe)
It really does take a village! I'm just the one who had the idea! Lol but ideas don't go very far unless you have support and people willing to invest their time (and faith!!!!) in you!
I also wish I had Welcome Wagon when I first started!!! But I DID have an amazing friend who held my hand. My dear @creatr!
And going through that with him...made me realize that everyone needs friends to make the beginning (and the rest of the journey) easier! Hehehee
So that's what the heart of WW is :)
I don't see anything in the schedule about honing up on the jokes? Practice makes perfect!
But seriously, congratulations! It's a great initiative that you have got running here!
I've been meaning to say .... Quietly.... Thank you for our surprise. I didn't even know about it until someone put a screenshot of something on the screen in an interview we just did for welcome wagon and I was pleasantly surprised shocked and honored.
You did it quietly so... I won't make much more of a big deal about it hehehehe don't want to embarrass you or anything... But it meant the world to me
Truly did.
And you never said a word. (And I'm not the kind of person who checks lolol so glad I happened to see it by mistake... Just to let you know how much it mattered to me)
P.S. MY JOKES DO NOT NEED WORK!!! I'm hilarious!!!! Lolol I just won SBI for my amazing knock knock joke to @derangedvisions and @saffisara said (in her awesome post!!!) That @snook and I are the funniest people she knows!
And she knows lots of people lol
No worries, I'm afraid the amount is more symbolic than material...
Haha... I see you have a thing about your jokes! I am guessing that the schedule was for your WW students and acolytes! ... but it is interesting that you thought that I was talking about your jokes... very interesting... revealing even....
You're being humble :)
and my jokes.... go see @c0ff33a's latest post about the Truth or Dare challenge.... see who he names as the funniest person on Steemit hehehehe
just sayin'!!!!!! LOL
Ha ha, he also describes himself as an emotional wasteland! He doesn't feel the jokes, he only laughs out of convention!
he feels them @bengy!!!!!
do not try to rob me of this joy! LOLOLOL
The Welcomewagon is such a great initiative. When I started posting on Steemit I floundered about and made so many mistakes - which I learned from, but it took time and quite a bit of wasted effort - eg, wading through sh*tposts, until I found out where all the quality ones were!
I'm still learning, and I have what might seem a daft question - how do I join your curation trail? I never autovote, because I like reading posts, but I've realised that as the people I follow have grown their reputation, I rarely find or see posts from newbies, and I'm sure there must be lots of them. I think this is a general problem on Steemit - we kind of graduate with others who start around the same time as us, and we also follow those who have greater reps, but you can end up in a cloistered world, shielded from new arrivals. That's why I admire the welcomewagon so much.
Is there a welcomewagon digest, or a place that we can find some of the best posts from new arrivals?
Wow!!!! This really touched me- reading this post!!!! I love when people admire what we do... But it's so encouraging to see people who really would love to be a PART of what we're doing!
Now that you've asked... I'd love to just make a post about how to follow our curation trail!
I'll do it tonight! And I'll tag you in it!!! Thank you so much for this!!!! 🙂 I truly appreciate your willingness to stand with us!!!
As far as what you said about being cloistered...you're so right!
We love having those people who grow with us!!!
But... It's always good to have people above us thay pour into us, and people below us ... That we can pour into!
I encourage everyone to take the time to seek out a newbie and pour into them!!! ♥️
You don't have to have an initiative to do that! Just reach one! 🙂
Thank you again for your comment!!!
Thanks @dreemsteem! I'm so glad my comment inspired you to write a post about this, and I'm looking forward to reading it!
Wrote it last night!
Hope you enjoy reading it here!
Oh great - thanks for the heads up! I've been out all day, so I'll give it a read now :)
A great initiative and one many will appreciate. I didn't know much about what the @welcomewagon was but love it even more now I do.
Thanks so much @insideoutlet! As the leader of your OWN community that comes alongside newbies and great content - that means a lot to me! :) Glad that we have your appreciation and love! :)
@dreemsteem, for the Welcome Wagon
Team Sapphire is the best!
