I never had a great feeling about WS, and gave up after being invited to a circle jerk.
we have embraced the power of the downvote properly employed.
The problem I see, is that people generally do not like to agree on things, and even in my attempt at trying to be a part of an abuse fighting team, what I felt was a clear cut definition of abuse, is evidently not. So, for the time being I am not using my downvotes at all. I like the idea of collective agreement, not chaotic confusion.
Overall I feel downvotes play a vital role in maintaining the utility and health of Steem, but it would be nice if people could just come to some common grounds on what clear cut abuse is.
Good insight. I welcome you to join us over at @steemflagrewards and be a part of providing feedback as we update our abuse definitions that we reward downvotes against.
I can't say there will be no chaos at all as I believe some degree is inevitable as people with different opinions and values come together. It's a matter of how we manage, cope and deal with the chaos that defines us.
We can mitigate it but we cannot eliminate it much like abuse on Steem. (Which is articulated in the WP)
