Your introduction and conclusion in any paper is very important. Ever wanted to start reading something and you stopped because the introduction was bad? Ever read an amazing paper and never shared it with anyone else, or advised someone else to read it because the ending was just not great?
Your introduction of any paper is what attracts the reader and convinces them to read more. Your conclusion should always entice your reader to want to share what they read with others.
Your introduction should lay out your whole paper and show your reader where you are going and what they can expect. Make sure to have a strong introduction, stating the topic and the thesis.
Your introduction always shows how long your paper will be. The longer your introduction the longer your paper should be. Generally you will have one paragraph, but if your paper is longer than 7 pages, have an extra paragraph for your introduction.
When starting you introduction paragraph, add some interesting information about the topic you are writing about. This is a great idea on how to get your readers to read more of your paper. Asking a question is a great way to involve your reader and introduce them to what you will be speaking about.
Make sure that the tone is reflected in your introductory paragraph and hook your reader so they will crave more.
For those of you who just can't get an introduction paragraph out and you getting really frustrated. Step back and just start writing. You can always come back and write your introduction paragraph later. Always avoid Clichés.
End with a bang! And no I don't mean blow up your laptop... Wrap up your topic and anything else you have left in your paper that will need closure. Your conclusion must state the important points again and must make the reader know they are important. If you have expressed a side on a certain topic make sure that this is brought up again with a simple "I believe" or "this is" statement. Make sure that this last paragraph(s) have no new information in them.
There are many different ways to conclude your paper. Here are some:
- Tie back - Where you link your end with the beginning. This would depend on what you had for the beginning and how you personally want to relate the end back to it.
- Statement - Directly state something that links to your thesis and that links your thesis to something bigger.
- Solution - State a solution if you have presented a problem in your introduction.
Things to avoid when writing your conclusion: Do not have to much emotion in your conclusion. Do not re-writ your introduction again or say things you have already said. Never use the words "in conclusion", the reader will know when the end is coming.

As far as yesterdays posts go I have decided that I will not kill myself. Thus I will be working on a new method of doing exercise according to the value. I am not sure what the amount will be today and will have the same statement us. If the amount is the same I will be changing it tomorrow and will then continue doing the exercises as promised.
Just on a little side note for self improvement. I will be doing pushups, situps and squats for the amount of $$$ I earn on this post and will give a short feedback every day at the end of each post. This will be split in equally between all 3. Any not done will carry onto the next day.
Great article as always.. Its important to split the article in several parts chained together to get a good flow and have a pleasure reading.
I see some people just posting tons fo text witch is nasty to read.
Cheers and much love :)
I agree with you. Articles should be structured properly with breaks. Few years ago I read a book on how to write an article in 10 minutes. Author mentioned some nice tips on structuring the article.

Interesting post, but i would love to see input regarding the importance of banners, pictures, starting with a picture/banner etc. Text is good, but i see those 'extra' votes coming when there is a nice structure but followed by pictures, small banners and so on.
Yes this is true when it comes to writing on steemit. This series is just for writing tips in general, so related to articles one writes or papers for assignments. I will do a few specific things for steemit on what I have learnt so far.
You just got the words out of my mouth. Inputs also regarding powerpoint presentation.

I want to make writing here one of my (daily) habits. By writing summaries about interesting topics or just texts in general, I hope to practice more and to become better and better every time. Thanks for the reminder of how important the outline and the structure of a text is! I'll defenitely follow and try to apply next time.
Conststancy is key so just keep writing as much as you can and read and it will help you improve your writing as well as make you want to write more.

Good reading.Thank you very much.
nice article.. thanks
This is great and very inspiring as I think we'd all like to post more with the HF in place. My issue would be with simple grammar skills within my writing! I've been out of school for sometime and although I believe it to be better than lots I run across, it's not where I want it to be. Hmmmmm. I will work on this area for myself and future readers of mine! Practice makes perfect as they say! Enjoyed as always!
Yes practice makes perfect. There are actually thousands of grammar rules and each grammar guild is different. Reading and writing everyday helped me the most. I was never taught these things at school and looking back at school, well lets just say the system is not great.
Great article
yes i forgot about intro and conclusions -- good tips for better writing- i am new and following you for more good content
Very helpful. I like that you keep your posts short and sweet. There help me while writing. Thank you!
whatever is you have stated is right but the most important one is the TITLE that we are using.......If we have a attractive title more people will visit our post or blog or something else that the point where we have to attract the users :)
Yes this is very true when it comes to posting on steemit.
yes but I think not only on Steemit every where the title plays a prominent role :)looking forward for your other posts keep posting innovative posts like this :)
I am trying my best to follow instruction you have penned in this well written article of yours.
And today I am seriously wondering how you gonna do pushups, situps and squats because amount earned already crossed $588, so today i must wish you strength to do these exercises!!!!!
Yeah I will be changing this, I am going to be so sore and at the moment I can't get near 300 pushups a day. I will have to change this.
:) and Thanks for your footprints on my blog other day, but i need continued support from seniors like you, not just in upvote sense but just an eye on my blog and comment sometime also will be highly welcome to me.
Always good to increase your skillset:-) good reading, I will definitely use this in my posts.
Cool advise i may do new intro some day :)
Great article.
I too agree that the introduction is veryyy important in any writing you do. It sets the tone and style of writing the reader is about to experience. And having misleading information in the introduction can have catastrophic results.
Subsequently the conclusion can decide whether the work is just meh, or OMFG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER. Nailing that conclusion is the difference between a masterpiece and a ahhh, it was alrgiht.
Anyways, I'm quite new to this site, so I would appreciate anyone checking out my blog. It's about Fantasy writing, if you're interested in that sort of stuff. :)
Cheers!
I like it I vote you plz you interested in nature and tourism visit my page to support me thanks again

You are very right sir. Great guidance . Thanks resteemed & upvoted your post.
Agreed, introductions and conclusions are crucial to a good article, and the flow in between is crucial. One of my favourite reminders is the fact that the purpose of your first sentence is to make the reader eager to read the next. The purpose of your second sentence is to make the reader want to read the next. And on it goes. Every single word and line should be written with the intention of guiding your reader to your very last word. And then taking action! Thanks for the post.
I believe the biggest takeaway in all of this for many a new writer or blogger is that if you cannot figure out how to start your article, just write :).
More often than not we get stuck in our own heads looking for just the "right" word or words to begin with, instead of focusing on the final goal - to produce a document that people (and bots) like to read!
What you said about "Step back and just start writing. You can always come back and write your introduction paragraph later." is sooo spot on. I learned this in high school as a creative writer and thanks to this method I very rarely, if ever, encounter writer's block. I just write. Then I take that draft, I re-draft, edit, edit some more, then finalize.
With that being said, and myself being a newer fish here to Steemit, @dragonslayer109 could you give us a hint of which types or articles do best here on Steemit? True-to-Life stories? Fiction? Poetry? Reviews? Crypto? With so many things to write about online, what has your experience been as to which posts seem to gain the most traction with the community? I know the community is diverse in many ways, but it is also growing. When I go thru the tags I don't see much that really resonates with me topically, so in many cases I almost feel as though I'm rockin' the boat with the things I like to write about.
Or is it best to just ignore the existing tags that are leading currently and see if blazing a new trail under some new tags is justified?
Thanks for any input or advice you can bring to the table.
Great post. Following.
Congratulations @dragonslayer109
