If you're reading this, please stop for just a minute and STAND UP!
Stretch your arms over your head!
Swing them around!
Jump around and wiggle a little bit - no one's watching.
Then bend forward and reach for your toes.
Stand back up, and roll your neck around.
Twist your upper body from side to side.
Take a lunge or two...or twenty.
Do it again a couple more times!
Add in some cartwheels or backbends or handstands or down dogs or killer dance moves or whatever YOUR body is craving.
Wherever YOU feel tight right now, just lean into it, breathe into it, and stretch it out, shake it out, and have a bit of fun!
Then come back to the computer and keep on scrolling through your feed or writing all that code or building those websites or watching porn or whatever you're doing online.
Sitting all day every day is really harsh on the body, which can affect the mind and your spirit too.*
We are not robots yet! We need to take a break to get the kinks out and the blood flowing! It doesn't have to be complicated or "perfect" or some weird pretzely yoga move, just MOVE!
Just a couple minutes of conscious, playful stretching here and there makes a SIGNIFICANT difference in how you feel.
We have important work to do here, Earthlings - I really hope for you to feel your very best!
Here's a song that's obviously not mine to use for inspiration/as a little stretchy stretch timer:
💛 Sara!
*do you want some Science or studies or videos or something about why sitting still for long periods of time is detrimental? I can give you all you want, but it really doesn't have to be that hard. Just gauge a before and after of yourself, and if you feel better after a short stretch, then that's really all there is to it. Why not do more of the things that make you feel better in a day, especially when they're super easy and accessible?!
Thanks for the exercise tip, I had been sitting at my desk for 6 hours straight and this really helped me relax!
Awesome, glad to help you feel your best!
Getting up and moving around is definitely important; I doubt we were genetically "made" to be hunched over keyboards and screens for hours and hours! Thanks for the reminder!
Bright Blessings!
Blessings to you @whitelightxpress!
Yes it's incredible how greatly health suffers from taking an "unnatural" position all day - but just as incredible is how easily it is to undo all that hunching!
Yes this is so important! I am a yoga teacher and always encourage others to remember to get their body moving and stretched so that they keep a healthy posture. Its so important for people to be aware of their bodies and their posture. Thanks for the good read! :)
You're welcome! It's super important and super easy and yet somehow humans regularly forget about moving their bodies...
I have strech myself lolz .that's funny but enjoying.
Oh yeah way to go! Hope you feel great!
Thankyou for making me stretch ! I needed it !
You're super welcome!
-We did this,doesn't counts?
Have a lovely day over there... 🙏
That looks like tons of fun! With you in spirit at the sunny pool party ☀️
Was cool and hard work.. Haha... Have a wonderful weekend 🌟💙
It's a GREAT weekend so far!!

excellent this small routine but very valuable for our body @saramiller, you really always surprise us with your exercise routines, and this is very important since our body always needs that blood fluids enough to burn calories and we do well for the heart too. Excellent friend, realize it and I liked it very much, thank you
Yes feeling better is always available, and it's so easy! It almost seems too simple and easy, but it makes a huge difference to take a stretch break here and there. Hope you're feeling wonderful @alejo1996!
Coincidentally I saw this on my feed yesterday:
healing forward head posture
It’s a lengthy article with several videos but it’s very informative and similar to the topic here.
Yes I saw that too and just resteemed it because it's so easy but so valuable! Feeling better is always accessible, and holding the body "correctly" makes a ginormous difference in how we feel.
#ginormous
Thank you Sara! This was amazing so glad that I just did that.
Used to work in an office and sit at a desk for 8 hours long.
Working for myself now and found that if I break it into 2 hour chunks and have a 30 minute break to stretch and move around get walking actually makes me more productive and I feel phenomenal.
Thanks Sara!
Mmmmmm so great to have the freedom to MOVE how and when you want to! It really surprises me how many people are willing to sit still in a cubicle/at a desk all day because it's what they're "supposed" to do, and how "strange" office people find it when someone gets real stretchy in the workplace...humans are interesting creatures.
Hope you're having a great day!
This is something everyone sitting around on Steemit could use---I bet that is all of us! Great post @saramiller. I'll be up stretching with or without you in the next couple of minutes. Awesome reminder!
Oooooo yeah little stretch session to loosen up! So simple, yet it's helpful to have a reminder when one gets lost in the digital vortex 💛
information is very useful, we can try it before the move😁
Good pak bos
👍🏼
This healthful post, i appreciate this fitness. keep it up dear friend...
✊🏼
Thank you very much....
you are absolutely right!i did it.. and I feel better!.. :)
have a great afternoon!
Awesome, so glad to hear it! Have yourself a great day too!
Beautiful Idea ! Nice starting my friend. Thank you !
Namaste !
You're welcome!
Haha love this post, 2 years back I actually got myself a standing workdesk that I can regulate depending on how I feel, really allows for more natural mobility and a more healthy work-life. Incorporating a more frequent stretch-routine is something I could have use of to take it to the next level 😉
Good vibes as usual Sara!💛
Hi @williamwest! Yes those standing desks are great. Sometimes we sit on those big exercise balls too. I also like to use a bench so I can take a variety of seated yoga postures while I do my computing.
Hope your stretching does wonders for you!! 💛
