Also, if you BUY STEEM and POWER UP you can REWARD YOURSELF even MORE!!!
Holy FUCK, who would have thought that users may actually BUY Steem and POWER UP if they can earn more for THEMSELVES?!?! What a goddamn novel concept!!!
(And, give out a few votes to others while you're at it...)
So, where did you fall on the n2 and the whale experiment?
I think that solves the distribution issue faster.
We would have a middle class by now and could be raising the soft cap, imo.
No 'real' investor pays 10usd for what 1sp gives, the selfvoting return doesn't add up.
My ideal investors are celebrities, but they wont buy into a scheme that doesnt help the little guys.
Until we gather a big enough crowd to interest them, why would they?
We gather a crowd by rewarding proof of brain, and not proof of wallet, imo.
They are so far from reality... it's futile trying to communicate, radio waves don't reach that far...
I saw the benefits of the experiment but it also annoyed the hell out of me. I don't see a problem with the current voting reward algo.
The problem is that there needs to be a reason to buy Steem and either hold Steem or power up and hold SP. Right now, other than price speculation, there isn't. The attempt at rewarding "proof of brain" has certainly failed here, we're only rewarding those who choose to pay for votes or got in as an early witness to reap rewards in the top 20.
Steemit (as far as I was told) was always intended to just kickstart Steem and get people onboarded. Now we treat it as the end-game for Steem and that's unfortunate.
well there hasn't really been any run away success' on the steem blockchain to warrant any heavy investment. Coinbase adding support for steem is the only thing today that can push us up a level on the log chart but other than that or some breakthrough I don't see it happen....
I have over 2 full and soon 3 full paychecks waiting to be put into steem, and powered up until I get to 10,000 sp. At which point I will have:
Incentive to put more time and effort into my posts
Some lunch money coming in weekly
And the ability to make someones day with a full vote since I know how good that feels...
just waiting for my gut feeling to push me to buy bitcoin to convert to steem to power up
it's a "shitcoin" friend... all in one word...
Right, steempeak crushes steemit's 'minimum viable product'.
Until we can interest more than a few 10's of thousands to play the game, mass adoption is unlikely.
Doesn't the n(whatever) bring back proof of brain?
Perhaps a lower variable than n2 would annoy you less while rewarding rewardable content over less popular content that has to buy their popularity?
Where are you at on letting the blockchain sell sbd?
The procedes could be burned, returned to the rewards pool, or be dedicated to bounties, in whatever proportion stakeholders deem appropriate.
Let's face it, 15m sbd is not near enough to compete in a market of trillions.
Selling sbd for 1usd of steem to all comers gives us a chance to compete with tether and trueusd in the cryptosphere and real usd in the economy.
Converting from a volatile coin to a stable coin gives a reason to hold sbd, and thereby steem.
I dont see anyone that understands the math paying 10usd for what 1sp gives, but i see most of the world wanting to escape this bankster dystopia, if all that wealth is coming to steem/sbd we will need exponentially more sbd to maintain the peg.
Wait..What? I'm totally confused. Mind blown!!
I know, imagine if people thought THEY could earn more by buying and powering up steem....

I wouldn't mind growing my account rapidly, and I would definitely need the money to survive, but I can't afford to invest in Steem. So that's the first problem I have before I could even think about doing something like that.
My second problem, is that I'd rather focus on others. No matter how flawed the system might seem to be, or despite how others may act.
As long as I give I will also get. That's the true power and the real beauty of this system. That's why I have delegated my powers to others, free of charge, for several months. That is also why I am the co-founder of the @asapers, a small, yet effective manual curation team that focus on the newcomers.
That's also why I've launched the "push people to 500 SP"-initiative. It's based on kindness and generosity. We simply give away Steem/SBD/Steem Power to people who're almost at 500 SP, and we do that to build something that can resemblance a real middle class on Steemit.
I've followed you for such a long time Bernie, so I know that you're a good guy, even though you might look like a greedy, selfish bastard from time to time.. But I've seen the real you. And I truly feel that you are a giving person and I've seen you do many selfless things since I got here.
That being said, I'm sorry for how things have turned out here, but I'm not ready to give up. Steemit have given me the opportunity to change my own life, financially, which I'm very grateful for... But during that same time, I have the opportunity to help others too. And that's what I love the most about this platform.
I just wish that everyone would see what I see too.
Good comment and thank you for helping others :)

The problem is that what we have right now is not bringing in new INVESTORS (buyers) to Steem. Regardless of how good SteemIT may be doing or not doing, we still need someone to buy all of this Steem that is being created every day. Without a reason to invest (most don't invest to give away potential earnings) the price will decline.
I honestly don't care what people think about what I may or may not do with my @xxxxxxxxxx account, they will all see in due time. If I wanted thanks for all of the things I do, I'd change my approach and let people blow me all day.
Everyone delegate 1 SP to @xxxxxxxxxx, just for fun.
I did

steemconnect 1.0 SP delegation to @xxxxxxxxxx.Hi @justinashby! Special squad of highly trained hamsters prepared this delegation link for you:
Thank you I used steemworld.org instead.
True, and I would invest if I could afford it. But, that's because I've been here long enough to see all the great things about this place.
If I just heard about Steemit though, and had money to invest, I'd most likely look elsewhere. I mean, why should I invest in Steem? To actively self-vote and reward myself to get as good ROI as possible short term, or would I use my stake to reward others, in an attempt to make the currency increase in value?
Talk about SMT's or whatever, but I don't find it likely to see a big company or millionaire investors coming to this place and start producing content. I bet they want to be passive investors. So what options are there? - Delegate to bid-bots to grow their stake or curate others?
But would someone actually use their stakes to reward others, meanwhile we have this destructive behaviour around here? Look at the trending pages. Sure, a good way to earn for those who can afford buying the votes... But it also makes it more difficult for others to earn, as they'll get further down the list and are not as likely to be seen.
So, the rich gets richer and the rest of us gets nothing. I do what I do, in an attempt to grow those other users. It's going slow but something happens. We encourage and inspire people who's here already. I truly believe that these people will be more likely to invest something rather than nothing in the near future due to that.
The fact that people like Jerry Scamfield and his knucklehead friends have been sitting on the top of the trending pages for ages, promoting their shitty products is bad advertising for the entire platform... And nothing have been done to prevent it.
I honestly think that we need to cure the disease from the inside, before we can start to daydream about getting investors on board.
But hey, this is just some garbage from a random Swede with ~1500 SP, so why should anyone listen to me? - Thanks for letting me vent for a moment.
rich gets richer and the rest of us gets nothing" - spot on! my own thoughts as well. serious investors are unlikely to participate in this de facto Investment platform (not the "alternative social network" as it supposed to be) - you are right in that.
so, as someone has repeatedly pointed out (or rather quoted comments on her FB group) that it is more like a scam-like / Ponzi model, which depends on constant recruiting of new members and inflow of fresh capital merely to keep such model afloat.@hitmeasap, many good points made! particularly RE: "
that's why I agree with your call for supporting others, i.e. Delegation into real humans, PEOPLE, who would create that Content - not into "bid-bots", as you've rightly pointed out. after all, that's what this whole ecosystem was supposed to be all about: content creation, curation, interacting, socializing, which rewards participants for all such actions. "Blockchain of Mutual Delegation" as I prefer to call it.
Serious question, though.
How do you plan on getting past those gatekeepers at STINC? Or, are you trying something that dodges them altogether?
Maybe I'm way off the mark. I'm hoping it's something that will drive commerce, like ways to spend and burn Steem, versus just the current speculative coin.
I am working out the conditions of the types of projects that can potentially be supported but I will likely exclude those that are steemit-based and favor those like what you mentioned above. We need to build services that utilize the Steem blockchain, not keep relying on "Steemit" to be the sole use case.
Need need to get around STINC, hopefully they see some value in what will be done. If someone does need funding for a project that actually alters the chain and requires a fork, etc. we'll cross that bridge should that time come.
Bernie, I might know a way to bring in new investors. The only problem is: It involves change. Some folks like their comfort zones too much, but this would bring in a lot of outside money, eventually.
Will check it out later today.
It's a long read, juicy bits are the final third.
It's your money. Use it how you want to.
If you want to upvote yourself. Upvote yourself.
If you want to go around and cure great content. Upvote that.
If you're crazy and want to watch Jerry Banfield all day long talking about blowing himself...... GTFO!
Amen.
When you upvote your own content:
You give yourself an incentive to post and hold.
You pull money away from the voting bots and others.
You build your account so it can do more to support others.
And you contribute to the economy.
If everyone only votes for themselves. There is no reason to have a site, just set the blockchain to distribute the rewards to current stakeholders.
It is a balance... I'm fine with everyone doing what they want with their stake, but I also see that coin staking is not helping build the site.
On a purely personal level, I'm of the idealistic mind that would hope to see a Steemit what would simply be a scenario where:
However.
I agree with the points you stated. I'm realistic enough to see that the above scenario I painted is a pretty far cry. There are basically two realistic scenarios here right now:
There's really no need to condemn self-voting as the below scenario takes place anyway.
Also, are we supposed to just get rid of all of the reasons to hold the coin? If anything, there need to be more incentives to power up and stay powered up. The resource credits are a good start, but we need more.
Being able to reward yourself is just a reward by the chain for holding onto your coins. I don't see the problem.
I, however, do find it annoying when certain people - let's call them fulltimegeeks - do the same thing as everyone else on the platform - that being upvoting and downvoting - and act like they're some big heroes of the blockchain.
I downvote, too. Where's my cape?
I want a cape also. Dang it.
We are all fulltimegeeks on this blessed day.
Ken M anyone?
I don't understand that reference.
You're supposed to say.
To which I would reply:
Reference
It's dumb, really. Don't think about it too hard. Check out the sub, tho. It's funny AF
But you said ...
8-)
I still think the concept of voting bots was fine. I just hoped we would have some other attractions to go along with them. :) We should figure out how to rebrand them as gambling devices and we would moon!
I liked @randowhale. It was actually fun. Like, the use of the bot itself was fun. You didn't know what you were going to get, so the fun gamble was worth the few SBDs. The vote itself was secondary.
Yeah... everything is so stale now.
I'd pay money to be able to use Yobby emotes on Steemit, for instance.
Or ConcernFroge:
Concerned Frog is one of my favorites when I'm on Discord.
Okay, sounds good.
Hi bernie. I don't self vote and rather hand my votes out. Yes I am a small account but you can use it as a tool to grow your followers and support base which actually benefits you more.
Hey I remember you from Minds.com! Good to see you here.Think I was mistaken. You have a YT channel by chance?Kudos on the no self voting! You are absolutely right. Our voting others makes the place somewhere where people want to be. It's kind of a "pay it forward" thinking.
Wished more people thought like that. Building communities is the ticket! If I'm not following you already, I will be.

Steem paying dividends for posting online. Win Win.
You just planted 0.05 tree(s)!
We have planted already 4675.76 trees
out of 1,000,000
Let's save and restore Abongphen Highland Forest
in Cameroonian village Kedjom-Keku!
My Steem Power = 20582.83
Thanks a lot!
I actually don't post as much now. I think I should try to upvote my own posts. Then again, my votes are only worth ~$0.07 each, so I'm not sure if it's worth it.
I am getting double the vote input for curation with my tiny votes, though.
Now, I understand thise 5% votes. Pretty slick.
You have to have a lot of SP and time to make comments to make self-voting worthwhile. It is better to buy Steem low and sell Steem high if you want to earn more.
Difficult situation, but you reward many of us, why can't you make a bonus for yourself?
This is a tangled thing, need to discuss it! Thanks @berniesanders
It s like Try standing inside a bucket.
Now try to lift yourself up.
If others see value in something I create, would hope they would hook a brotha up with a vote but I have a hard time with tooting my own horn.
It's not a popular opinion or one that lends to the acquisition of power but just the way I think. If my content blows donkey dicks, it
don't deserveshould not receive votes so I can learn to be better.Posted using Partiko Android
yah upvoting myself is my only form of income on steemit ;)
But Trevon complained about you upvoting your own content.
I still find that funny now though lol.
Posted using Partiko Android
I always upvote myself, with my small amount of SP, I think I'll earn millions in about thousands years.... hehe
I delegated to @10x 1 SP cause I believe in you.
But self voting is a form of spamming
Posted using Partiko Android
haha, what are you talking about?
LOL. Though this may be true if it's on comment spam.
I think you are confusing that with comment spam.
What? No.
@berniesanders, You give us new concept
Agree better than keeping in Bank. Buying STEEM is an smart investment with large4 benefit. I need to set aside the savings I ve to buy STEEM..

Looks better idea
who are THEMSELVES ? :)

How about creating a bunch of accounts and use these accounts to upvote one another? Lol

Completely want to invest my votes to gain more followers and share each other than self vote all the while 😉
With smaller power, self voting did not turn out much...
When I grow powerful it matters. One day will be powerful 🤩

With pleasure!
Best advice I've seen in months!! :D
Buy STEEM, power up and upvote the most that you can, then rewards will start floating in to your account, author and curation rewards!!
Sure will and fuck those people who forces their own rules
Posted using Partiko Android
In that I'm thinking seriously. I'll buy.
well, why not? Everybody is doing it...
I was hoping there would be an /s at the end of that.
Ops. Forgot How sarcasm is hard to be percieved on online writings.
I'm really not very good at buying steem. I would like to learn a little more about this world of cryptocurrencies.
Am I using this bot right? Of course it's ok to vote on yourself! Just gotta vote on others too to spread the love! Your posts are without a doubt the ones with higher engagement rate right now, that photo post alone was wild.

I’ve never applauded myself for singing a song so I won’t upvote myself for writing a post because by writing standard style it’s probably a load of shite anyway! I like the fact that someone so prominent in Steemit agrees because everyone is at it!
hey bernie, do you remember me when we talk on discord :)
Sounds pretty fair to me...
i don't see anything wrong with it. When i make a post i already know who is about to upvote and that is because the majority don't upvote-search manually and the interface isn't helping too.
Thus why i shouldn't upvote a post i took hours too write?
If i don't appreciate myself and the time i spent with at least my 10 cents worth of upvote who will do?
On the other hand though if someone only upvotes his stuff that are single pictures or copy/paste things then i am against it. I really don't even care if he upvotes himself with 100$, in my opinion all he has to do is at the same time to support projects or cast some upvotes to other users too!
Do as I say, not as I do.
A primary central point in most human interactions.
Now that's got damn awsome @berniesanders a win,win is at hand very Great post thanks
Jerry? Is that You?
@jerrybanfield
😁 😂 🤣
(/sarc)
😉
Unfortunately many people are just up voting themselves and not others 😂
I never knew you were a flat-earther...
LOL I'm not, it's a joke.
I’ve always been mixed on this subject... I don’t personally self vote.. well because my 6 cents every 3 days isn’t gonna do shit for me.. but those 6 cents combined with curation initiatives I’m a part of 10x a day could make difference in whether a valuable author stays here or goes back to f%$•book.
I’d say it’s about balance.. we all are essentially sharing the cookies in the cookie jar (aka reward pool for those slow ones) and so it becomes something everyone is concerned about. I think you have to look at how you are supporting others vs how much you are supporting yourself.. otherwise are you helping the platform grow and therefore increasing your ROI?
Now, I think each persons stake is theirs to do what they want with.. but it also means those sharing the cookies can get pissed at the guy eating all of them if they want right?
I don’t expect anyone to give their money away for free here.. and quite frankly I think this idea of a gift society and the entitled cry babies demanding things for free is just dumb. That’s not how the world works, you get what you put in.. and well.. you put some shit in Bernie so I guess you get some back out.
I think that any business man can see how giving everything away for free is no way to build a successful business.. but then again.. neither is eating all the cookies. So.. balance?
Don’t listen to me though.. I just spent a whole day on a post just to give the rewards away to an initiative I believe in.. why? Cause I’m fucking crazy that’s why... oh yeah.. and because I think it helps me get the most out of my investment here, by investing in the future... no matter how small that investment is in comparison to some.
Much Love,
Justine
