Why do I do this?
The reasons are simple; I would like to give something to the community. As in life, you need to give happiness to receive it. It is not something you search for or look for, that is a waste of time and resources; to be happy is something you get from others and to get it you first need to give it.
I like to learn new things, look from other perspectives, try to be as opened to new ideas and thoughts, hear other people opinions, discuss, engage in talk on a specific topic; all for the sake of self-improvement.

I believe this is from Earl Nightengale, "Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity" That pretty much sums up my thoughts on luck. You can have all the opportunities in the world just fall in your lap, but if YOU are not ready they mean virtually nothing.
On the flipside, Bad luck is sometimes what it takes to prepare us for future opportunities. Whether it is good or bad many times depends on how you look at it.

Ok, luck to me is being in the right place at the right time with the right attitude. Sometimes, we work towards it and persistent and diligent until we reach our goal. For some, maybe it comes easier, but if you don't have the right attitude, it will slip through your fingers.
I'd say the things that fall into place is the 20%, the attitude is 80%.
Working hard is not the same as luck...you need both to succeed, I agree.
I am thinking if I walk past a dollar, I am the right place at the right time. If I wasn't looking down to begin with, I'd not see it. Or if I don't pick it up then I cannot define that moment as lucky because it has no value. Is that making sense? Like there has to be action from me to give it value.
Sure, It is all up to you and what you think of it, not just with luck. Humans tend to give meaning to things that are meaningless, same with "chance"..they call it good luck and bad luck...
Well, since @coinsandchains beat me to the punch with the quote that your question reminds me of (luck is the intersection of preparation and opportunity), I guess I’ll have to be a little more creative!
To me, luck is purely an attitude. Now granted, if you flip a coin, there is a 50-50 chance that it will be heads. Say you have $20 riding on the coin toss being tails. If you win, you’d call that “good luck” but if you lose it’s “bad luck.” But I think this is taking the idea of chance too far. The coin flip results simply are. Your attitude about them is where we get the idea of luck. Luck implies something outside of anyone’s control. But the laws of physics, statistics, and probability govern everything, so as Obi-wan Kenobi said, “in my experience there’s no such thing as luck.”
I have watched gamblers lose their minds at the blackjack table when someone to their right didn’t hit when they were supposed to. That caused everyone to their left to “get a different card than they were meant to get.” In this case you have the opposite problem of “luck” - if they still win it’s good luck but if they lose now it’s the other player’s fault. Really either outcome is pure chance.
Or take Steemit itself for example. Say I spend an equal amount of time on two quality posts and one of them gets Curied and the other does not. There is some chance involved in whether or not a curator sees either post, but so much more is dependent on things that are controlled by other factors besides chance (post quality, subject matter, personal preference, etc.). It is far too easy to say I had “good luck” on the one that got Curied and “bad luck” on the one one that didn’t. It takes all responsibility out of my hands when I chalk things up to luck.
To reference Star Wars again, the droid C-3PO constantly spouted odds. To him, there was no luck either, just probability. A robot would not feel “lucky” at wining the lottery or “unlucky” at being involved in a plane crash. They would simply recognize the relative unlikeliness of each event, with no added emotion coloring their reaction.
So to boil down my argument to a bite sized quote of my own, I would say that “luck is how you fill the emotional gap between chance events and your reaction to them.”

Man, I cant agree with you more about "are" and "is"...just like the chance..when it happens it is, no more no less..
When someone says, "you had luck", it means it happened..
Of course it depends on perception if it will be good or bad, and it is after all just human emotion more than universal probability, that is the reason why I asked this question, as it is interpreted differently because of the different "life path" among humans.

Hm , it's the feeling that things are going smooth , and that my hard work is somehow paying off , you know , in a good way. Again I feel like it's the presence of God in my life that I feel is the biggest luck , ( not meant to be against any non believer ...just what I feel , 😍😍) mainly because I have a lot going on in my life and it's because of him that I feel happy to be alive.... It's also the feeling I got when my mom's mammogram came neg for breast cancer... Many many years ago..and we couldnt afford to recheck everyones oroblems medically because of financial probkems.. but still i am feeling that is luck to me ...and also the fact I met you and the conversation that we had also made me so much happy , and when you said I inspired you.. made me feel more lucky. Thank you brother.. ☺️☺️ for being an inspiration to me , for being such a beautiful and wonderful human .

For me, luck is the last little icing on the cake! Or in some cases, it is the complete cake....
You can do all the work and put in the hours and everything else that is required, but there is always one little last unexpected thing that drops in and just makes it all work (and that is serendipity, or luck!).... or if you are are incredibly blessed in some way, you can put in the minimal amount of all of the above, and somehow a ton of success somehow falls on top of you!
Many people attribute success (not necessarily monetary or work or life or happiness) to personal hard work or deeds. I think that the luck component is often under-rated...

I like to think it is the icing! That way, if it does not come, then you still have the yummy cake (the experience, and things that you learnt, relationships made).

Not all cakes are sweet! But they are the substantive part! I'm sure there are things that you learnt and experienced in prison that would potentially be part of a new cake!

Luck to me is inherently tied to positive or desired outcomes that are due to chance. The less likely the outcome, the more lucky you are.

Agreed, but negative luck is still luck in its own way.
You are more subjective on this matter. Same outcome for two people, same chance but still; one will be luckier than other because of our perceptions and desires.
I'd say that when a low probability undesirable event happens to you, then you are unlucky. I agree with the subjectiveness of luck. In fact, there have been cases where I thought I was unlucky due to an outcome, then later realized that I was actually lucky. This was because the outcome (in this case, not getting a specific job offer) seemed negative at the time, but later turned out to be for the best.
I know that feeling, happened so many times...
... and somewhere deep inside you knew it is going to turn out great...didn't you? At least thats how it goes for me usually.

Luck for me is when my perspective suddenly shifts and I'm able to see more angles to a situation, person or even a habit. This helps me get rid of clinging to negative beliefs or a pessimistic outlook of life. This perspective change has attributed to a major change in my life too when I was clinically depressed. As it just took a (different) perspective to make me come out of it.
Now that is some luck.

For me, there is nothing like luck. We all living a life that has been written down somewhere by a supreme being. You think you have the power to choose but you actually don't. You can call it LUCK, FATE, COINCIDENCE, or whatever, but the actually fact is that you being played towards a bigger plan we mortals know little or nothing about.
Sorry but I will have to disagree with you. That would be just simplifying things.
Yes you might say it is a plan of something bigger, but still you have a chance to choose. If we are talking about God from books like Bible and Khuran, then there would be no bad deeds and doings. If God has a plan, why would he let someone rape a child? Makes no sense.
If we are not talking about "book God" than I can agree with you, because it all just is.
For me luck is happiness.
When you are lucky you can have and get what you want in life, and when you get what you want in life you are happy.
So I like to think that luck = happiness
Because under luck can go stuff like
Finding love
Getting a job you like
Have normal living conditions
So many people don't have these things and are not even possible to acquire for them.
So if you have these 3 things in your life. You are lucky.
and probably happy aswell.

Haha its Christmas, even that one lol. Just need to be snart and put up my sun shield so I don't scold my hands when its time to leave. However our closest shopping centre parking is primarly undercover in large multi level things. But I'd take the top level if it were the only one available. I did have the perfect carpark = lucky but chsnged it to any at Christmas lol.

In my modest onpinion, luck is something that we work to be blessed with. As I use to say, "Luck is sought".
But the concept of luck depends from person to person, it is usually associated with something good that happened, usually related to money. One type of luck that I really believe, is beginner's luck. I think that happens way to often (with me), but I also think it has something to do with the commitment that we put on the first time(s) of everything we do in life.
Would you say beginners luck is because of "not fully understand" the "game" in this case?
As I have seen people that don't even give their best and still win.

Luck is good karma coming back around to reward me for the times that I unselfishly helped others with no personal agenda. It is also a reminder of to pay it forward when I receive goodness so the positive energy continues to flow through our lives.

@psyceratopsb, Scumbags that get lucky are examples of the dark forces at play. Where there is light, there must exist darkness, so the luck that scumbags experience is evil enabling them to continue to act the way they do. I am not religious, by any means, but this thought just came to my mind when I read your reply.

Interesting question, luck is when a divine appointment meets open eyes. Someone once said we create our own luck by our action. That might be true, but there is always a serendipity element to luck. Something you weren't looking for came your way, and you seized it. The luck was in something desirable happening your way. Because you recognized the opportunity, you took advantage of it. Luck is awesome.

what a great idea! To me, the logical answer is that luck is coincidence happening in your favor, and you being ready for it (which I guess feeds into the coincidence?) But the "easy to parse" answer is that luck is the universe throwing you a bone and seeing if you'll catch it, haha

Indeed! Wish I could take credit for it... but the credit (for making it famous anyway) needs to go to Gary Player (famous South African golfer from the 60s/70s), although he himself credited someone else for originally sharing a version of it with him.
Anyway... the point is: When "lady luck" smiles at you... by all means, embrace it (finding a buck in the streets or whatever)... but otherwise "there is no such thing as luck" (to actually answer your original question) :-)
Most people that "appear to be lucky" have worked damn hard to get there... Go out and create your own luck dammit!. ;-)

For me, luck is a sister of fate. You have no idea when it will happen. But when it comes, you are in for a surprise. It is like getting things the easiest way --> something you dont sweat over nor not hard earned. It is like handed down to you in a silver platter in a snap of a finger.
The danger here is that, your luck runs out. It does not dwell on your side forever.
I like your concept, although he who dares usually has more luck, and trust me I have seen people being lucky all the time.
