Please try to inform yourself via objective, unbiased information and try to form your own opinion, constantly updated/upgraded with new information.
My opinion is that Russia ...
- in its current dimensions ows its existence to pure coincidence, an accident of history (more)
- is the most aggressive state in human history
- is based on Nazi-ideology: (wiki, more info)
- has a population that lacks skills (as a consequence of deliberate policy choices in the 1980s) and is stuffed with propaganda (more info), accompanied by a substantial brain drain
- faces dire times, and loses its ties to each and every state that has a respect for the rule of law
- may end exactly the way Putin allegedly fears for Ukraine: over a longer timeframe, Russia will probably fall into the hand of a western marionette that grants mining rights (oil, gas, other commodities) to western companies while "Russians" will hardly profit from that.
Let's hope for a quick end to Putin's war!

Angesichts von zunehmender Desinformation und teilweise sogar der Verteidigung von Putins Angriffskrieg (auch hier auf Hive) möchte ich Euch bitten, objektive Informationen zu suchen und Euch eine eigene Meinung zu bilden (und diese mit neuen Informationen upzudaten).
Meine Meinung ist, dass Russland ...
- in seinem jetzigen Ausmass seine Existenz einem Zufall der Geschichte verdankt (mehr)
- der aggressivste Staat in der Geschichte der Menschheit ist
- auf Nazi-Ideologie basiert (wiki, mehr Infos)
- eine Bevölkerung mit niedrigen Qualifikationen hat (als Folge bewusster politischer Entscheidungen in den 1980ern) und die mit Propaganda vollgestopft ist (more info), was mit Braindrain einhergeht
- vor sehr harten Zeiten steht und verliert seine Verbindungen zu jedem einzelnen Rechtsstaat
- könnte genau so enden, wie Putin es angeblich für die Ukraine befürchtet: über einen längeren Zeitraum hinweg wird Russland wahrscheinlich in die Hände einer westlichen Marionette fallen, die Schürfrechte (Öl, Gas, andere Rohstoffe) an westliche Unternehmen vergibt, während "Russen" davon kaum profitieren werden.
Hoffen wir auf ein schnelles Ende von Putins Krieg!

I agree with your prognosis for Russia's future, with one minor exception to part of one of your points.
I'm inclined to believe Russia will fall under Chinese, rather than Western, control. The reason is simply that China is the only thing propping them up right now and they are in very much the position North Korea was in for most of the second half of the 20th century. They invaded a neighboring country on a "unification" mission, started a war they can't win, and now their isolated economy is dependent on Chinese life support.
You seriously think that the largest nation on earth, with the largest conventional army in Europe, the largest nuclear armoury, and the largest amount of natural resources can be compared to North Korea!
You are right about one thing: Russia is an Empire.
Moreover it is an Empire that is undefeated by external enemies.
About every 70 years (1917, 1989) it goes through an internal collapse that many in the West mistake for a defeat and try to take advantage.
Did you know that the US and even Australia invaded Russia in 1917.
Russia is now an Empire rising in ascendancy again and is recapturing parts that it lost when it fell apart.
If you think that Imperialism and large scale warfare are outdated concepts "in the dustbin of history" Putin has hypersonic missiles and massive tank armies to prove you wrong.
Anyone in Europe who doesn't want to end up as part of Putin's Empire better get their shit together and arm up and stop wasting weapons by sending them to Ukraine where Russia blows them up as soon as they are delivered.

Russia is an empire that is not in ascendancy but in final decline.
Unfortunately, Imperialism is not an outdated concept at all. I'd expect the reemerging of this "trend" within some countries, such as Turkey, China, Iran or Uzbekistan.

By undefeated I didn't mean never lost a war.
I meant that it was never conquered by anyone else. Moscow has never fallen and along with London (which gave away its Empire) they are the only two undefeated Imperial Capitals I know of.
If you believe the MSM narrative that Russia is suffering badly and its invasion is faltering then it might make sense to send heaps of arms to Ukraine to try to defeat them there.
But what I see is a quite successful large scale high intensity combined arms warfare utilising strategic and tactical manoeuvre to encircle and destroy the Ukrainian Army in the East, to secure the entire Black Sea coast, and to pin down Ukrainian forces in the Kiev and Kharkov to prevent resupply to the large forces encircled in the East (but no attempt to actually take them.)
I see western resupply depots being picked off in bulk by Russian missiles and thus not reaching the front lines.
This is the problem with the West drinking its own cool aid and believing the Ukrainians are winning when they are not. They may be fighting bravely, but they are losing.
It causes NATO to waste resources on Ukraine rather than dedicating them to defensive of actual NATO countries.

As a sometime contrarian and history hobbyist I make a few points:
Russia does not have a monopoly on imperial ambitions.
Point to many nations throughout history and you may see expansionism (euphemism for imperialism).
Russian history certainly supports this. Go back to Ivan III. Go back to Catharine. These figures are no doubt Putin's inspiration. He wonders, why not imperial Russia again? Why not Russia instead of the West? The tension between Russia and the West is not new. Not just the West. Go back to the Russo-Japanese War.
NATO did not create a territorially ambitious Russia. Does NATO expansion poke the bear? Maybe. But the bear has been hungry for a long time. As have other nations in the world.
How will this sort out? Right now, Russia is guilty of the atrocious human rights abuses. Genocide. War Crimes. That is all I know. This must stop. No history, no perceived wrong warrants Russia's current actions. Anyone who justifies these actions is morally bereft.

Like how you make this concisely about resources. It seems that western media propaganda really does narrate the russian image aversively with intent. Like pawns in a chess game, we can watch how history repeats itself with fear mongering. Mineral conflicts, because Ukraine probably has the largest lithium mineral deposits in Europe. Natural gas, second after Norway. Ukraine also has 5% of the earth natural and mineral resources. 20% of the earths proven titanium. The list goes on. I wonder what everyone thinks when the IMF does something like the SAF. Colonialism disguised in covert intricacy and devious methodology that gently lurks into common acceptance. it's interesting how everything can still be justified through the masses suffering of xenophobia.
