Ketosis - The Body's Natural Fuel Burning State. An Anti-Cancer & Pro Balance Diet? Plus, Understanding Cholesterol. What Are LDL, HDL & VLDL? Dr. Darren Schmidt Explains...

in #health7 years ago

Here's a couple of pretty important videos for health - in some ways turning the mainstream thinking about diet on its head. Dr. Darren Schmidt is someone I have been watching for a while and I appreciate his direct attitude and ability to explain/teach.. Did you know that 'Doctor' literally means 'Teacher'? I know - most Doctors are not real Doctors since they don't teach anything!

We have been told a variety of confusing ideas about cholesterol from various voices over the years. I don't think many of us really understand it or what the various figures involved mean. Since Darren has already demonstrated to me that he has enough of an open mind and a strong intention to do what work (not what he has been programmed to do), I suggest listening to his excellent breakdown and analysis of what the various figures relating to Cholesterol mean and how to work with them in a truly healing way:

Perhaps even more importantly, his video on Ketosis and how our natural state is 'fat fluid' could turn out to be one of the important understandings that we lack when it comes to staying healthy. The short version is that he is saying that we are nearly all deficient in healthy fats in our diet and are eating too much sugar, carbohydrates and protein. I am certainly aware after using Cronometer to track my nutrition that it is pretty difficult to reach the recommended balance there. I already roughly knew that I needed to take the direction he is pointing to here, but I wasn't aware of why or of how important it might be:

Comments?

What do you think/feel here? Have you experimented with a ketogenic diet? I had mostly only heard of this approach as being useful for cancer patients since apparently cancer cells literally need sugar and if the diet is changed so that we switch into fat burning mode, the cancer gets cleared out!

Let us know in the comments below! Thanks.

Wishing you well,

Darren Schmidt is a crook whom happens to tell the truth most of the time.
A better crook with a deeper knowledge to watch is Dr. Eric Berg.
A real MD, not a PhD in semi medical topic like Schmidt.
Josh Axe says similar things to what Berg and Schmidt say, and is a crook too.
I do believe that Ketosis is healthy if it is maintained a part of the time, but not sure if it should be maintained all of the time.
I also do not know what portion of the time it should take.

What crimes are you alleging they have committed? What is the evidence? What steps have you taken to report the crimes?

Where did I write that they are criminals?
I find this statement agreeable.
Regardless of what they should be accused of, I assume you know enough about the court system to not ask these questions.
And then you asked.
These people blend some dangerous lies in their usually correct preaches.
Adhering to their lies will damage the naive and disciplined adherent's health.
IDNK how much idiots Schmidt and Axe are, or if they plagiarize others' content, but at least Berg is not an idiot, and he recommended (Schmidt and Axe did too, watching one is like watching another in this clique, except that Berg is the best of them) honey, which is clearly against their own preaching against fructose, and recommended his own product which he said himself that contains cortisol, which he should know is bad, and adding it inside food will only make things worse in the longer term, similar to giving insulin to diabetics, except that insulin can save lives in certain emergencies, and Berg's product is not meant for emergency cases.
In Schmidt's case, he dwelved into cookery in addition to crookery, things that Berg would not say.

At some point I came across a book by Daan de Wit. The book's in Dutch, so not really recommendable which is a shame, unless you speak Dutch :). Anyways, in his book he debunks some of the mainstream ideas about food. And he uses a huge database of research to do so, even shows the sequence in which studies have been done, what info made it to the public and what didn't and how lobby industries were involved and all. For me at the time, his story about cholesterol and fats was most surprising. One of his sentences which stuck was that the idea we grow fat when we eat fat is as ridiculous as thinking we'll grow green when we eat green vegetables, lol. Sounded plausible enough ;). Anyways, he does a great job showing how carbs and peaks in blood sugar are at the source of so many of our physical problems, including being susceptible to infections and also for example, the health of our teeth.

The way he put it together was so convincing to me, I actually did change my diet. I eat a lot more omega 3 fatty foods now, after understanding that too much of omega 6 is also a problem. And hardly any carbs, and way more veggies. The main thing that changed was that I started thinking of carbs (bread, potatoes, pastas etc) as not being healthy, understanding they cause those peaks in the blood sugar and are a real problem. Now that I know how I can prevent those peaks by making smart choices in what I eat, and eating more of the fatty foods, I do feel my body feels more saturated and fulfilled by this new way of eating. And energy after meals is more consistent and lasts longer. So good point, thanks for bringing it up here. It's definitely important knowledge to share!!

Since you used videos I'll use videos to respond. However there are sources linked in the descriptions of said videos.

Note: I can't watch the videos in your post right now, I'm only responding to your words. When I do get a chance, I'll check them out.

Thanks for the videos - as a vegan I obviously would be looking for a vegan approach to this and if there isn't one then that's enough for me to know that there is a better way!

Having skimmed the videos you provided, I can see that the bottom two are addressing different aspects of this to the videos I shared. The points made in the top 2 are, I think, addressed by Dr. Schmidt's guidance regarding coming out of keto and then going back into it to correct some of the issues, but I am in no way any kind of expert on this (I am a beginner really) and I would be interested to here his comments on your videos. He is pretty active in commenting so maybe he will if he sees them.

I have done it a few times... It's great for loosing weight, lost my belly fat... I periodically fast too... Drink apple cider vinegar to help with PH levels, litmus test strips to test saliva and urine. have fallen of the band wagon as of late though... I hope to work on my health this summer/fall. It's a cycle. ;)

Excellent, yes, fasting is definitely a great process too. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Cancer is such a terrible thing.. I have seen families devastating by this thing.. Something like dietary measures help a lot. . Hence we should enlighten ourselves early with these things and eliminate this terrible thing from our lives. . Thanks for this sir..

first and the most important is to maintain health then other stuff

Does it also involved the influence of a -keto functional groups, since fluid is concern

everybody should take care about their health....because health is wealth

I began to feel like a medical student while listening to Dr. Darren Schmidt teaching.
Poor me, prior to now, I only know about LDL and HDL, I'm hearing about VLDL for the very first time... Lol
Well, I can see why doctors have to teach now... Smile

I know ketogenic diet to be for cancer patients too, I never know non cancer patients can still benefits from it like this, it seems I should just be reading people's view on this topic.
