What do you do on a hot 30 degree Celsius day? Of course many go swimming and just so do the animals to cool off in the heat.
We fill the birdbath with fresh cold water three times a day and after each fill different "customers" arrive for a quick cool off!
This little Cape White Eye was the first after the lunchtime bath refill.
Let's have a look at him!
At first he tested the temperature of the water!
Then he moved himself into a diving space!
Plonk! He was in for about half a minute!
Jumped out with water splattering off his wings!
A very vigorous shake clawing onto a branch to prevent himself from falling out of the tree!
And then he sat and looked at me hoping for some applause 🤣
Finally, this was the first customer at the afternoon water change and she has just had babies. Thirsty work methinks!
I will show you more about the female squirrel tomorrow. She is known to us as "Squirry" and she had another batch of babies.
She is also the one that jumps around on us looking for nuts in our pockets. But more about her tomorrow!
We hope that you have enjoyed the quick swim by the little bird.
We leave you with this thought below!

And That's All Friends!
All photos are my own, fresh and taken today.
I used a Canon Powershot SX60HS camera!

Cool photos!👍 It is important that animals always have access to clean water in warm weather.
We now have +1C in siberia, but I saw sparrows splashing in a puddle😄not afraid of cold weather!
Oh yes, that's why we refresh the water all of the time.
The birds also bath here in winter and in summer they flip around in the soil to rid themselves of fleas.
Birds love splashing around especially on the hot days, this little white eye is too adorable giving you a show on full enjoyment of water Stephen.
Watching their nest in the Guava tree every day, waiting for a new youngster or two to pop their heads up, but not yet Lady Joan. Funny thing that I see, is that the doves, thrushes and mossies all have dust baths here in the plant beddings. But not the white eyes or the robins,
I also got a glimpse and a brief shot of an African Paradise Flycatcher.
I posted about the African Paradise Flycatchers last year and and hope that they will visit us again.
Blessings and thank you!
Doves take dust bath here, others birds normally go for the running fountain/bird bath in the garden, it's placed under kitchen window and difficult to capture photos of them. Always nice to see them enjoying a swim with extra rocks inside for them to hop onto.
Guava trees around here were all stripped out as supposedly obnoxious plants so we have none in the surrounding area anymore.
African Paradise Flycatcher I photographed just before going on leave I have so many bird photographed still to be shared, never enough time in the day!
Have yourself a good day and hope your back is feeling a bit better.
We have a young guava tree here that has not had any fruit yet.
Mistake is that nobody pruned the tree and it was pushing most of its growth into the the low branches. I cleared the trunk of all the lower branches and now in a season or two it should bear fruit!
Yeah, the Berg has tons of birds and I was thinking that you should have many photos.
Sure to bring you many fond memories.
Blessings!
3 times a day! The critters in your yard must feel as if they are at a swanky spa!
Wonderful photos! I just did a Halloween post that includes a video of my daughters squirrely trick-ot-treater!
Very hot and the water gets steaming hot in that concrete bird bath milady.
A lot of babies around and we like to look after them.
I will have a look at your post and it sounds very interesting.
Blessings!

Even if we had a bird bath on our balcony, I doubt that such beautiful little birds would take a bath in it ;)
Another great post of a beautiful bird, Zac 😀

Good evening Hannes,
Just got back from shooting an ocean sunset, but the clouds messed with the glare!
Not with your cats around hahaha.
Cheers and thanks!
Good evening Zac 😊
Yeah, Mother Nature plays sometimes games with us 😉
That's right, but even without cats the most colourful birds around would be pigeons I believe 😂

Good evening Hannes,
It is always best to view each mishap with humor.
I for one am very quick to laugh at myself lol.
Do you remember the farm where I slipped on the wet grass and hurt my back a while ago?
Well, I am invited to open the police day tomorrow morning with a prayer and a short talk.
Guess where they are holding it? At the same farm hahaha!
Oh yeah, I forget about the pigeons. Shame man, but I will just continue to post birds for you to see my friend.
I can't have your lovely mountains and you can't have my lovely birds.
You know what I will say here 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers and thanks!
I know what you want to say, my friend 😁
Good evening Zac,
I have had a very long day at work and the next time will be the same. I don't have much time for the Hive at work and when I come home I'm too tired for sitting at the computer. So, don't expect much from me for a while.
Well, I am sure you will do a good job tomorrow, but you should watch your steps 😉
Because I am too impatient and too slow for the birds I will keep the mountains and enjoy your bird photos 😊
Cheers and !BEER

.I wonder how small are the baby squirrels. I smile every time you post pics with Squirry
I saw onec of the squirrels carrying a pink little thing in it's mouth, but she was too fast for me to get a good shot. At first I thought it was a little bird, but then I remebered that they don't eat rodents or birds.
Amazingly a short while later she returned and I got her on camera stripping the sunbirds nest for the soft stuff inside.
Then I realised that she was relocating her nest and transferring the babies, as we had many bad rain storms at the time.
Maybe one day I will get a squirrel in its nest!
Aww so cute! I bet that they are really tiny!
Tiny indeed like little rats lol!
Howdy sir papilloncharity! Squirry is still going strong! lol...it's great to see her again and those are such wonderful photos of the Cape White Eye, just beautiful.
Greetings Sir @janton. It's great to see that you remember Squirry and she has just had another bunch of babies.
Glad that you liked the post my friend!
Yes sir, of course. Squirry is my favorite squirrel! lol..I hope you have a great Sunday!
Saw a strange thing today. Squirry is allways into the sea shellls here and we know rhat she gnaws the calcium off them. But today she was trying her best to eat the whole trunk of the Palm tree in our garden. Nipping pieces off the trunk and making a mess under the tree.
Now we will have to find out what vitamins are contained in a palm tree trunk lol.
Very interesting about Squirry eating that palm tree, did you find out what she is missing in her diet?
Nope, Squirry and the senior entourage has dissapeared for the last 3 weeks and there's all new youngsters here doing their thing.
I think that squirrels have a way to find calcium, but the palm tree's contents remains a mystery.
In fact I haven't looked into it lol.
Oh no! Squirry hasn't been seen for 3 weeks? What does it mean?
