A few weeks ago when I felt overwhelmed, starting to have negative thoughts, behind on everything and just losing my overall motivation, I decided to step away from everything. It was refreshing but in the process, I also picked up new things to try and some new self-care tips which I will share later. I also attribute this to the things I learned from burning our recovery and prevention, just a long list of things that I find was very helpful whenever I am dealing with burning out. My tips will be similar to that but obviously with simpler approaches that I experienced. First of all, I learned that if life were symbolized as running, I would be a great sprinter but not a marathoner. I guess you have to ask yourself that question too, are you a sprinter or a marathoner? As you see, the sprinter is great for speed and power while marathoner is great for slow and endurance. What does it have to do with burning out? well you see, from my experience with explosive energy , it invites more responsibility. I find that when I have a lot of energy I make so many commitments, being on top of my game but once my energy drops, I start getting behind everything, don't really achieve the result I wanted, and even fail to deliver my commitments on time. Most importantly, perhaps I made people disappointed when I tried to overcommit that would really just lead me to a long burning out. Also, sometimes, burning out is inevitable, it just bound to happen but obviously it can be minimized too.

I realized very late that many things in life are continuous and it's not a sprint, it's more like a marathon. It's that continuous effort but consistency that matters. It's just like that common knowledge how being smart/genius sometimes does not really translate to success or having more money. I am pretty sure at least in life you know a few examples that fall under that category. I totally have great respect for people who are great with consistency. Not to mention, they are a great pacemaker/pacesetter to me. In sport, it means someone who is in the lead during part of a race or competition and therefore decides the speed or standard of the race or competition for that time. I think that people who are consistent, made me want to stay on top of my game and motivate me to be on their level or even outperform them. In life, professional life and many other things, I think we need a pacemaker. However, of course to minimize the burning out while having these pacemakers around as a sprinter, I remember to go back to the basics, which is sleep, get moving, personal care, and mindfulness.

As much as sleep is important, sometimes I am still losing it. I stayed up late wanting to work more, do something more, just to be productive. I ignored the fact that when I get a good sleep, my productivity would be higher too. I would exactly have 24 hours to spend productively rather than sporadically spending my time without a goal. These days, I try to get exactly 7-8 hours rest and do my best to sleep no later than 3 AM. I know, even yesterday I didn't sleep at all but after talking to my friend, I realized that it's what probably got me to the state I was in. Perhaps, if you are currently burning out, just ask yourself, " have you been sleeping well or have you been sleep deprived?"

The next thing that is new to me or at least something I recently realized is the importance of working out. You don't have to go to the gym though, maybe walking works for you. I prefer mine at the gym because I enjoy working with various weights that I don't have at home. With working out, I find that it helps me think clearer and even was able to vent out my frustration with life and many other things. When I am often about to be burning out, I either first go back to swimming or the gym. Although it does not completely solve my problem, it removes a bit of fog that clouds my thinking. That's my next tip, get moving, whatever that is.

Then, there comes personal care. I don't know how you do that but for me, it's getting that body massage and some feminine self-care. I got my nails done as you can see above and it just adds some joy into my life. Sometimes I listen to songs, discover new things and just go to a cafe and have a delicious lemon pie. Anything that will cheer you up and gets you busy, away from your regular life, just do that. Maybe watch a movie from the cinema instead of the comfort of your room?

The last thing really is about getting in tune with our mind. I find that helping someone, contributing to a cause or simply becoming grateful for what I did was also the biggest thing that really helped me slowly recover from burning out. While helping others, I find that it just turns my day into something better. However, whenever I can't get up from bed, just avoid everything completely, I simply go back to my photo galleries just to look at the things that I did. It helped me feel a bit better and somehow motivated me to get back up, just to go back to certain places, with certain people and experiencing something fun with them again.

Burning out and problems can be tough but with some small steps and simple approaches, you'll eventually come out of it. So, good luck and don't give up when you have problems :)

Ps : thanks to @incublus for inspiring to write out this one 😀

You have probably listed all the problems that I have (had)... lol... Maybe the main difference is that I'm not a sprinter and I suck in short races... 😃 If I want to get into something, I do get lured sometimes and FOMO, but later on, I tend to explore more the topic, create a plan how to develop it, create a goal, and try to stick to it... If I accomplish creating a habit (daily, weekly), I will probably get there and there's that consistency that I found very important... Of course, if something isn't challenging enough, I probably fail... lol...

Sleep, walk, personal care... suck, suck, suck... hahaha... But, I think I'm getting better with all 3... Before, I would sleep max 6 hours per day (most times 4-5h), and I have no idea how I was able to properly function... Now, I'm a bit better... a bedtime before 2 AM, and get up after 8 AM (6+, and not 6- hours.. it makes a difference)... Daily walks are crucial! Or the gym that you mentioned... That saved me from bigger health issues that were starting to develop 2-3 years ago when I didn't do walks...

You are lucky that you got these things early! Stick to them and take care of yourself!

Have an awesome weekend!

It's problem to many it seems and yes, we're similar on, if it's something challenging. I'd probably quit too😂 just because overtime it gets boring and so-on.

I try to get this early just so I don't get health complications later on. It's expensive to be hospitalized these days. That's why prevention is best than curing it while I can. Have a great weekend with your family!

Am I a sprinter or marathoner?

Hmm, I think it depends on the situation. I don't know it was a good attitude but whenever I got hooked of something, I get obsessed . Won't stop not until I got the result I wanted. Would even deprived myself from sleep🤣.

Then will start to feel burnt out plus headache due to lack of sleep. Will ended up procastinating🤣.

So I guess you are not alone somehow..

😂 the cycle is always like that. I am trying to break that because it's exhausting, I want to be more consistent and be a marathoner than a sprinter 😅. Yeah, It's amazing to always find out I am not alone and there are people who experience something like that out there. So, I feel you on that!

I was reading that yesterday, tried to share it on my twitter but I fell asleep. I'll do that today though, thanks for writing that up and share with us!

😂 ok 👍

It's really different when you work out. It gives you more energy and positive vibes. Self care is really important to be effective with what you do.

What's your favorite self-care?

Facial and foot spa are my favorites..hehe. I also used to do Zumba and sometimes aerobics.

Sleep is a very important aspect of staying physically and mentally fit, and it’s important to get the required amount of sleep. It’s a biological reset for your entire body so that you’ll be up refreshed and ready to handle another day.

As for the gym, I’m disappointed in myself for how long it’s been since I went. I’ve lost all motivation to go and it might be a very long time until I muster the courage to drag myself there. I hope that’ll be soon.

Hopefully you'll get back to it soon. I am trying to fix my sleep as of today. I used to sleep by 9PM but it's been more challenging these days.

I’m actually substituting the gym for jogging for some few reasons, one of which aside the fact that it’s also a stay fit activity, is that it might help fix my sleeping habit.

I've been having trouble getting out of bed these past few weeks. I might try this but I can't trust myself lately not to waste my time on my phone. I think I'll just print some photos and hang them in my room to remind myself of the reasons to get up.

That's not a bad idea at all! I have some of my favorites picture printed and some that I sticked into my journal. It's helping me sometimes. I hope you'll feel better soon and better days are waiting for you😊

I've been sleeping a bit late lately and I think I'm not getting enough sleep, and I haven't been exercising much lately. I think these are the main reasons for me and I need to at least exercise at home to keep my body fit. Thanks a lot for the advice @macchiata. I hope both of us will be in this situation less often.

hmmm maybe you can start from there, fix the sleep and the exercise too.

Exercise is of course very much needed to maintain the condition of our body to stay fit, I myself do not do special sports but every day I do one that sweats instead😅

haha yeah, working out is important!

Life is an on going challenge, and it will be like this till the end...
Downs actually show us how valuable ups are dear.
Keep the chin up and keep grinding! <3

Indeed, the ups and downs are spices of life. They are always invaluable lessons to me. Have a great Sunday!

I hope you are better by now... :)

I am! it has been a great day so far :D

Good to know that dear... :)
