Let me spare you the effort: for 500 points you get a $1,8 upvote, so almost a $1 worth of hive (and HBD) into your wallet. It takes about 4-5 days to get that amount of points if you try to max it out. Hope it helped :)

it gives you 1 point for a full upvote but then falls to like 0.9 points for the second full upvote and so on to avoid abuse

I think you can but I wouldn't recommend it. It's better to earn them while doing the usual stuff: upvoting commentating etc
