Starlink equipment has already been installed in Federal Aviation Administration facilities as a prelude to a SpaceX contract, according to government employees, contractors and people familiar with the work.
“The Verizon system is not working and so is putting air travelers at serious risk,” Musk on Monday posted on X, the social media site he has owned since 2022.
The emergence of Starlink as a potential replacement for the Verizon-led effort underscores the extraordinary conflicts of interest inherent in Musk’s position as both a senior White House adviser to President Donald Trump and a business mogul in charge of a sprawling array of companies. It is not clear what role Musk might be playing in helping Starlink parent company SpaceX win such business.
"We're on time with the tariffs, and it seems like that's moving along very rapidly," he said at a White House news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.
While answering a specific question about the taxes to be charged on America's two largest trading partners, Trump also stressed more broadly that his intended "reciprocal" tariffs were on schedule to begin as soon as April.
"The tariffs are going forward on time, on schedule," Trump said.
It was reported Monday that Canada and Mexico were expected to intensify efforts to avoid the tariffs on their exports to the U.S. in talks to persuade Trump's administration that their steps to increase border security and curb fentanyl trafficking are working before Tuesday's deadline.
Earlier this month, Homan told Newsmax that sanctuary cities should work with ICE to arrest criminal migrants if they want to see fewer collateral arrests.
"For the naysayers, the city council who wants nothing to do with ICE, they need to understand: If we arrest the bad guy at Rikers Island, then the alien's safe, the officer's safe, the community's safe," Homan said on "American Agenda."
"But when you release that public safety threat back into the public, what do I have to do? We got to send law enforcement officers in that community, and we will find him."
Homan added that doing things that way will lead to collateral arrests.
Several of the top potential contenders are governors, including Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Gavin Newsom of California, and Wes Moore of Maryland.
Harris is also being mentioned for a return try at the nomination, as well as former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Trump has teased seeking a third term in office, and even with a constitutional amendment being needed for that to happen, Democrats are saying they want someone who can take on MAGA Republicans.
"I think one of Andrew's strongest qualities is that people feel like he's fighting for them," said Democrat strategist Basil Smikle, a former executive director of the New York State Democratic Party. "And that's the uniqueness of this moment. Candidates can't just sell their good governance. They have to be in the fight, and he proved that during the first Trump administration."
Polls in New York City are already showing Cuomo with a double-digit lead over Mayor Eric Adams for the Democratic Party primary. Adams was indicted in September on five counts of corruption and is pushing to have the charges dismissed.
However, some who have worked for Cuomo say he does not have a chance to get a spot on the Democrats' ticket for the White House even if he wins for mayor of New York City.
"There is absolutely no good reason for him to run for president," a former Cuomo aide said. "He's too damaged, and people won't let that go. He also represents the politics of the past. The Democrats can't look back. They need candidates of the future."
Some of the plaintiffs confronted the CIA’s attorneys and said they should be ashamed of themselves, Grumbach added.
“That was sick,” one man said.
“You are really disgusting,” another said.
Kevin Carroll, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said he respects the court’s decision, and will be considering next steps with his plaintiffs, Grumbach reported.
The Justice Department argued last week that a judge could not block because U.S. spy chiefs have the power to terminate them.
Congress vested CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, with the authority to fire personnel when they deem it "necessary or advisable" in the national interest, the Justice Department said in a brief filed in federal court in Virginia.
In most battles the manipular formation proved superior to anything the enemy could deploy, and the Romans were typically able to destroy the enemy's center. Many times the Triarii were not even engaged. When the Romans ran into trouble it was usually due to an undersized or inexperienced cavalry. In the great battles against Hannibal, particularly Cannae, the Carthaginians were able to turn the wings of the Romans and attack the infantry from the sides. In their final battle against Hannibal at Zama, however, Scipio deployed strong cavalry to protect his wings and they were able to resist a flanking attack. The manipular formation also worked exceptionally well against elephants when the Romans created lanes for the elephants to run into so they could not trample the Roman lines.
Hamas said on Thursday the only way remaining hostages in Gaza would be freed is through commitment to the ceasefire.
"We renew our full commitment to the ceasefire agreement and confirm our readiness to enter into negotiations for the second phase of the agreement," the group said in a statement.
There are 54 hostages still held in Gaza. Israeli authorities believe fewer than half are still alive.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen told public broadcaster Kan that Israel demanded that the military stay the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs the length of Gaza's southern border with Egypt.
Israeli troops are supposed to start withdrawing from the Gaza-Egypt border area on Saturday, when the first phase of the ceasefire is set to end.
Within the tribal system, the people were organized by gens and family. Gens is the class of families with the same nomen or name. For example, Publius Cornelius Scipio (Africanus) had the nomen Cornelius because he was a member of the gens Cornelii. His brother was Lucius Cornelius Scipio. Their father was Publius Cornelius Scipio. There grandfather was Lucius Cornelius Scipio. Gens affiliation was fundamental to the power structure of the government – particularly in the Senate, as father, son, nephew, and cousin were all elected to serve.
Hamas had been displaying living hostages and coffins holding hostage remains on stage in front of crowds in Gaza before handing them over, inciting criticism including from the United Nations. The final handover did not include such a ceremony.
President Isaac Herzog in a post on X confirmed the bodies received overnight were those of Tsachi Idan, Itzhak Elgarat, Ohad Yahalomi, and Shlomo Mantzur, all abducted during the Oct. 7, 2023, attack from their kibbutz homes near Gaza.
"In this painful moment, there is some solace in knowing that they will be laid to rest in dignity in Israel," he wrote.
Idan, Yahalomi, and Elgarat were murdered in captivity in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said, while Mantzur was killed on Oct. 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack.
During the fourth and fifth centuries B.C, the Greek cities came under pressure from native Italian tribes. The most notable, the Lucanians, pushed into the foot of Italy and encroached on the land of the Greeks. Many times the Greek cities appealed for help from the motherland against them. Many times Athens or Sparta sent an army, but the cities never realized a permanent peace.
The Romans were not interested in the Greek cities during this period because they were distracted by invasions from the north and Samnite Wars, which lasted until 290 B.C. In 285 B.C, Thurii and Rhegium appealed to Rome for help against the Lucanians. These appeals forced Rome to create a policy for southern Italy designed to prevent the involvement of outsiders, and signaled the end of Magna Graecia as an independent entity.
