Here is the daily technology #threadcast for 8/10/24. We aim to educate people about this crucial area along with providing information of what is taking place.

Drop all question, comments, and articles relating to #technology and the future. The goal is make it a technology center.

Sort:

Technology has its downsides example scam, and other internet enabled fraud.

Would you prefer not to have the internet?

Fire can burn your house down or be used for cooking?

The advantages of internet far out weighs the disadvantages. Still I prefer the internet technology.
Car have accidents but still people drive cars.

Car have accidents but still people drive cars.

Yet people are railing against the development of autonomous vehicles. Amazing how clueless humans can be.

benefits of technology are numerous, for one, I can converse with @taskmaster4450le, and others. Make some passive income through #inleo

You have more than the richest person did 250 years ago.

They would consider talking to someone on the other side of the planet as magic.

There was a time when mobile phones were only for the wealthy, doctors and stock brokers, in the developed countries.

You are on point. Powered by Technology.

That holds true for much of human history. Fire was one of the first technologies that changed society.

technology has improved life to a very large extent.

Think of telephone. Television. Internet. AI

Think steam engine. Tractor. Electricity. Medical care.

Exactly. And the list goes on...

We keep adding to it.

Starship is ready for its 5th test flight, SpaceX says

Do you follow the space race?

I follow StarShip development. If the launch is during work hours. I pause everything to watch.

If you want an image generator that does people well, here is one to try.

Do you fear #technology?

In an aggregate way, because I know that today we are only able to communicate thanks to the technological advances that have occurred over the years.

That is true. People do not realize what is in their hands as compared to 40 years ago.

One thing about getting older, we can see the transition. Younger people do not understand what life was like without certiain #technology.

This current generation doesn't even dream of what the world was like 30 or 40 years ago.

Today they wouldn't imagine what it's like to live without the internet hahahaha...

I was there before the Internet.

There was also a time without in home video games, mobile phones, digital cameras (let alone camera phones), and personal computers.

A good part of all this, I didn't have in my time. It's even funny to remember that despite not having most of these things, we were happy.

This is very interesting:

Inside Xiaomi’s Autonomous Dark Factory: What’s Going On?

In a groundbreaking move that signals a new era in smartphone production, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its state-of-the-art “dark factory” in Beijing. This fully automated manufacturing facility, capable of producing smartphones without human intervention, represents a significant leap forward in the integration of artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced manufacturing techniques.

#technology #xiaomi #manufacturing

Hey @taskmaster4450le

Thank you for telling me to read this news. I found it very interesting and it's incredible how advanced Xiaomi is in this project with the creation of new smartphones without human use.

It is a dark factory. No need for people in it, thus no need for lights.

We could be looking at the future of manufacturing.

I went to check this out and was really excited about what they can do from now on.

It will be a big saving since you won't need to spend on salaries and energy.

It is. That is why it is deflationary. The downside is people lose their jobs.

I have a feeling this is going to happen across the economy. Robotics is going to really cause a lot of disruption in the job market.

Unfortunately, #ai is going to come in first.

That's what I thought about it too. There will be a lot of unemployment, because when these automations become quite common in the job market, I wonder what these people will do to support their families.

I may be wrong, but perhaps Musk already predicted this and he already mentioned something similar as a "social wage" because with machines taking up a large part of jobs, this may be necessary.

The X exodus that wasn't

When digging into the data to determine how large the exodus everyone on Threads is talking about actually is, we oddly came up short.

Over on Threads, the talk of an X “exodus” is blowing up. Anecdotally, at least, people report seeing an influx of new users and other online friends leaving Elon Musk’s X to join Meta’s Threads, with some even deactivating their X account in the process. But while users’ timelines filled with this chatter and various hashtag trends — like “Xodus” and “TwitterExodus” — seemingly point to a massive shift in users from X to Threads over the past week, app store and website traffic data don’t yet reflect any significant changes between the two platforms.

How a cybersecurity researcher befriended, then doxed, the leader of LockBit ransomware gang

Jon DiMaggio used sockpuppet accounts, then his own identity, to infiltrate LockBit and gain the trust of its alleged admin, Dmitry Khoroshev.

Earlier this year, an international coalition of law enforcement agencies took control of the dark web site of the notorious ransomware gang LockBit, replacing its content with the now-familiar message from the authorities: “This site is now under the control of law enforcement.” The operation didn’t disrupt the group’s operation for too long, with the gang launching a new site shortly after the takedown.

How to ask Google to remove deepfake porn results from Google Search

Need to remove nonconsensual deepfake porn results from Google Search? Here's how, using Google's built-in tools.

The internet is full of deepfakes — and most of them are nudes.

According to a report from Home Security Heroes, deepfake porn makes up 98% of all deepfake videos online. Thanks to easy-to-use and freely available generative AI tools, the number of deepfakes online — many of which aren’t consensual — skyrocketed 550% from 2019 to 2023.

Of course. Typical.

People who get censored/sanction by others do it to those they can.

It is like with #crypto. Russia opens up to it so as to get around sanctions but regulates it for the citizens.

All governments are the same.

Have you noticed how Hollywood gives a negative portrayal of #technology but are quick to embrace it?

Hollywood has no choice, it must accept.

Even though actors and screenwriters are opposing the technological movement, they know that this will be the future.

Many are opposing #technology but it is ironic, each day people keep feeding it. Unfortunately, they keep pushing more into Big Tech, something that might not be the most beneficial approach.

Chatbots are taking over. The #technology simply keeps getting better and people are getting use to them quickly.

A very good video on the everything code by Raoul Pal.

Here are the key points and why they matter:

  1. Diversification is Dead:
  • Point: Traditional diversification strategies are no longer effective.

  • Importance: Investors need to reconsider how they manage risk and build portfolios, potentially focusing more on macroeconomic factors and market cycles.

  1. The Everything Code:
  • Point: GDP growth is driven by population growth, productivity growth, and debt growth.

  • Importance: Understanding these components helps predict economic growth and inform investment decisions.

  1. Demographics are Destiny:
  • Point: Population trends significantly influence economic outcomes.

  • Importance: Demographic changes can affect labor markets, consumption patterns, and long-term economic growth.

  1. The Liquidity Cycle:
  • Point: Financial conditions and central bank policies create cycles of liquidity that impact asset prices.

  • Importance: Recognizing these cycles helps investors anticipate market movements and adjust strategies accordingly.

  1. Since 2008 Everything is Cyclical:
  • Point: Post-2008, economic and market cycles have become more pronounced.

  • Importance: Investors should be more attuned to cyclical patterns and adjust their strategies to these cycles.

  1. The Business Cycle and GMI Business Cycle Dominoes:
  • Point: The business cycle affects asset performance, with different phases (early, mid, late, recession) impacting returns.

  • Importance: Understanding the business cycle helps in timing investments and asset allocation to maximize returns and minimize risks.

  1. How to Invest Across the Business Cycle:
  • Point: Different asset classes perform better at different stages of the business cycle.

  • Importance: Investors can optimize returns by adjusting their portfolios based on the current stage of the business cycle.

  1. The Four Seasons of Asset Allocation:
  • Point: The macroeconomic environment (disinflationary boom, inflationary boom, stagflation, deflationary bust) dictates asset performance.

  • Importance: This framework aids investors in aligning their asset allocation with the prevailing economic conditions to enhance performance.

  1. Crypto: What Comes Next:
  • Point: Digital assets have been top performers in recent years.

  • Importance: As the crypto market evolves, investors need to understand its dynamics and potential future trends to capitalize on opportunities.

  1. The Super Massive Back Hole:
  • Point: Details on significant economic or market risks that could have widespread impact.

  • Importance: Awareness of such risks is crucial for risk management and preparing for potential downturns.

Conversational #ai is something to pay attention to.

Making Sense of Everything (The Everything Code)

The Everything Code and Macro Thesis:

  • Liquidity is increasing at 8% per year globally, which is the hurdle rate for all investments. With inflation, the hurdle rate is around 12%.

  • The two massive secular trends are cryptocurrency (e.g. Bitcoin) and the NASDAQ, which are both exponential trends based on adoption curves and capital flows.

  • The "magic formula" is that GDP growth equals population growth + productivity growth + debt growth. Slowing population and productivity growth is offset by increasing debt.

  • Debt ends up being monetized through currency debasement. Global liquidity follows an exponential trend like Bitcoin and NASDAQ.

  • Demographics explain economic trends - slowing birth rates and labor force participation drive the debt and liquidity cycle. Government debt is inversely correlated with labor force participation.

  • Central banks use liquidity injections to offset the demographic trends and allow governments to service debts through currency debasement. This drives asset prices higher.

The Liquidity Cycle and Business Cycle:

  • The ISM Purchasing Managers Index follows a predictable 4-year cycle based on the debt maturity and liquidity injection schedule since 2008. This matches the presidential election and Bitcoin halving cycles.

  • The 4-year cycle can be broken down into annual "seasons" - spring, summer, fall, winter - based on liquidity injections and withdrawals. Asset prices follow these seasons.

  • Forecasting the ISM cycle and liquidity allows for forecasting of asset prices, especially for liquidity-driven assets like NASDAQ and crypto. Models suggest a potential peak in ISM in June 2025 and liquidity peak in Sept 2024.

Asset Allocation and the Business Cycle:

  • The business cycle, measured by the ISM, is the key driver of asset prices across equities, commodities, credit, and crypto. Different assets have different lead/lag times to the ISM.

  • A framework of leading and lagging economic indicators can be used to track phases of the cycle.

  • The cycle can be broken into "four seasons" based on the growth and inflation mix: Spring (growth accelerating, inflation falling), Summer (growth and inflation accelerating), Fall (growth falling, inflation accelerating), and Winter (growth and inflation falling).

  • Each season favors different assets e.g. Spring favors tech/growth/crypto, Summer favors commodities and cyclicals. Late 2022 was the transition from Winter to Spring.

  • The current environment in mid-2024 is showing signs of moving from Spring to Summer, with a broadening of cyclical and commodity outperformance.

Crypto Cycles and Outlook:

  • Crypto prices move in cycles around the 4-year halving cycle, with the next major peak expected in 2025 based on historical patterns.

  • The crypto market cap is expected to go from $2.5T today to $10-15T in this cycle, potentially $100T by 2030, based on a continuing exponential adoption curve.

  • Bitcoin can be thought of as a large cap and tends to lead the cycle, while altcoins are like small caps and tend to outperform Bitcoin later in the cycle once the trend is established, similar to how small cap stocks lag the ISM.

  • On-chain data and technical analysis suggest the crypto bottom is in and the bull market is resuming after the 2022 bear market. Altcoins in particular look poised for major outperformance in the months ahead.

The Supermassive Blackhole and Opportunity:

  • Cryptocurrency is the single best-performing asset class in history, far outpacing even the NASDAQ. It is an "alien" asset class in terms of returns.

  • All other assets are being devalued relative to crypto over time due to fiat currency debasement. The "supermassive black hole" means that any money that leaves crypto for another investment is losing value in real terms.

  • The combination of technological adoption s-curves and the liquidity cycle argues that staying invested in the crypto secular bull trend is the best way to preserve and grow wealth in real terms.

  • The "banana zone" is the period in late 2024-2025 when liquidity, adoption, and cyclical tailwinds should combine to produce spectacular returns, potentially a "blow-off top".

  • Overall, crypto represents the single greatest macro opportunity investors have ever seen, and the goal should be to participate in this trend as much as possible.

In summary, understanding the interaction between demographics, debt, liquidity, technology, and the business cycle is crucial for constructing a macro thesis and asset allocation. Cryptocurrency is the asset most leveraged to the mega-trends of technological adoption and fiat debasement. The goal is to participate in the crypto secular bull market in order to preserve and grow wealth in real terms.
