What do you want Hive to be?
Hive is a true community project, therefore, it can be whatever we want it to be. I can express my view and you can express yours, and in combination we will get somewhere wonderful. Personally speaking, that is all that I would like to receive from this 'social-experiment'. It is really that simple.
#POSH Initiative
In the simplest form it is "proof of share". Hive blockchain is now more than 1 month old and the majority of the technical issues are now behind us. We therefore, can focus on the social elements of the blockchain, which is the fundamental goal. Currently, what is needed from all community members is content, and to spread the reach of that content.
Again, I can talk about it from my personal view point. As a stakeholder in this blockchain, I want to support excellent content. Content can't be bought, but it can be supported! There are multiple individuals and projects are thinking along the same line: @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @threespeak and @ocdb pledged that they going to dedicate a % of out voting power to reward engagement on some posts every day. You can find more details here.
What is an Excellent Post and What is Engagement?
I know what you are thinking: here we go into the murky water again! No, it is not that. Instead of focusing of the disagreement, let us focus on something we can agree on. Your definition of good content may differ from my definition of good content, and that is perfectly fine. It creates diversity, which is a wonderful thing. Typically, I have seen that we can agree of the effort. We can usually understand how much time and energy it takes to generate a content.
What I like to add to that is Engagement. I know, that some of you might be introvert. You may want to shoot that "perfect photograph' with a lot of effort and post it with little words or background information. then when someone comments on that post, you may be too busy to respond. Yes, that's possible, and yes that's fine (from my point of view).
But, can I please ask you a for personal favor? Please try a little more, please write a bit more, even if you do not want to. Please respond to comments with more than a few words. Try to "engage" with your audience, even if you are an introvert. This can be learned. There is no other place better than the social media for it. As you are behind a keyboard :)
Commenting on the posts of others, answering your readers’ comments, and asking back a few questions to the reader is engagement.
What are the requirements
First of all, it is not really a contest, so it does not have an end date. It will continue hopefully forever. There 'rules', if you even call them rules are simple, and described in the post here:
- The topic is open. You can post about whatever you want, it just needs to be high quality, just limit it to one post per day that you will be sharing on Twitter.
- On your Hive post, use the tag #POSH and post to a specific community - it doesn't matter which one, as long as it exists and it's got an audience. If you don't know of a community or can't decide where to post, then posting to the OCD community (174578) is for you.
- Share your Hive post on Twitter. Use the most characters on Twitter, make it appealing to the outside users - perhaps describe your post, clickbait, encourage others to read it, you pick - and use the hashtags #hive and #posh.
- At the bottom of your post, invite readers to comment on the post, as engagement MAY get rewarded due to the (challenge link) initiative. At the same time, leave a link to your Twitter Post to show #ProofOfShare - #POSH.
- If you are a video creator, follow the same guidelines but post through @threespeak.
Yes, it seems like a long list, but it really isn't. Just tag it #posh and share in twitter the link of your post. Actually, for someone like me, I don't even have a twitter (yeah, not much of a following), so I will just tag #posh here and post it in OCD community. You can post it in any community of your choice.

There are other initiatives for engagement for existing users and to on-board new users:
- Engagement league by @abh12345, check him out. He is a wonderful spokesperson for Hive!
- Trend this effort by @joshman; check him out here.
- @pharesim 's 2000 HP donation to new Hive users (original and human) here
From my personal point of view, I will reward every meaningful suggestions and interactions on this post. I am willing to invest a significant amount of my savings into hive. I want to invest in you, in us. Please help us succeed.
Couldn't have said it better in describing ideally how the engagement should look like in here and how diverse could everything be, without falling into niches and seeing some types of content hitting the trending page over and over and others stay under the radar for years. It's diversity, freedom of speech and openness towards almost limitless ways of expressing oneself in here that gives true value for such a platform.
We can work on that, and I guess as longs as there will be rewarded users there will be a flow of content, but as you mentioned POSH, such shares on other social media platforms are mandatory to get more exposure for Hive and attract more users, investors and traffic. I don't have facebook but I was sharing on tweeter almost all of my posts since the summer of 2019, but after that Justin Sun thing and the hard fork really didn't felt like doing that anymore. I started again for a few days to share Hive posts and hope to make it a habit again.
I would never write more, if I didn't want that, just for the sake of someone asking and I guess that's one reason why Steem and now Hive are not mainstream. It has to be long to be good is an old and dated narrative in my opinion, and to boost engagement even more I believe we need both bloggers, but tweeters as well in here. Some really don't have the patience to read that much and prefer short but relevant posts that they would engage on. My posts for example have on average over 800 words, because I talk a lot and when I write I have the same bad habit of trying to give to my details of the story, but for an artist or a great photographer I wouldn't ask for too much chit chat, really. I mean... I realize that tons of my posts are worthless compared to some photography ones in here where the author spent hours of work taking the pics and editing and those speak for themselves, but I see your point, although not entirely agree with you on this one.
Bottom line I appreciate your initiative and will follow the guidelines. A matter of fact I guess that my last post would fit in this challenge, although you said it's not actually a challenge and I'm glad you said that because I'm not a fan of challenges. Will take this into account and posh as much as possible.
HIVE ON!
No, I am not talking about length for the sake if length. But even in National Geographic level photographs, there are text associated with the photographs. There are text explaining the art work of Cezzane and Van Gogh. Although the later is produced by someone else other than the artist. My point is, an explanation of a piece of art, is not optional; it’s necessary. I hope there is no disagreement here.
No there's absolutely no disagreement. It's constructive communication 😁 and am happy to be part of it. I get your ideas and initiative but not entirely in tune... just about 99%. Curators are as important as creators so thumbs up for the ones supporting any type of content, except spam, in here. A clean and beautiful platform is what I dreamt of for years and tbh it looks quite cleaner than Steem looked like when I joined. It's still on us to polish it even more and to sell it to others.
Cheers!
I've been struggling watching this recent Hive pump, disturbed by the incongruity of the lack of engagement - I doubt very much if it's potential users who have been buying that hive, just speculators, and that's hardly 'engaging'.
It's so quiet around here. To depress you further, yes @abh12345's engagement league is one of the best things on Hive: I came 10th this week after not that much commenting TBH, and worse - I've physically met 3 other people in the top 10 IRL.
That's too smaller world for my liking - that engagement league used to be so much more active. Maybe people are just letting the dust settle with the move to Hive and we'll see a bit more activity come summer?
Stuff like this POSH initiative is badly needed! We do so desperately need new users to come in. Good to see these posts coming out.
I've actually found commenting on Splinterlands posts one the best ways to engage with people, on that note, it was nice beating you the other day!
Cheers!

Good thought @revisesociology; we are generally in agreement. However, this is the way I see it:
Hive rally (I can't use the word pump, I am sorry! 😀), is of course driven by speculation. However, I urge you to think speculation is a good thing. I am using the word in its dictionary means in trading world:
investment in stocks, property, or other ventures in the hope of gain but with the risk of loss.
If we have a market. If we have a product that can be bought and sold in an exchange, we can and we should have speculation. That is what drives the outside engine of this machine. To the inside, however, we need initiatives like #posh. I like to add, #posh is nothing but a desire for better, magazine quality content. I just like people to consider writing articles that could up published in say Medium.
I will also argue, price drives engagement. Also engagement drives price. It is a chicken-and-egg problem.
PS: I don't think beer token works here yet :)
I'd like to think this was a Hive Rally, but I'm holding off until after this crazy powerdown period has passed to make a judgement as to that!
I agree that speculation is generally a potential benefit to the Hive and even necessary to our success, I'd just like to see stable and steady investment, I don't think these wild swings are attractive to the majority of potential investors.
The right kind of engagement should of course boost the price.
I got over optimistic about the Beer call, obviously it's just the token that's migrated not the call function!
Cheers anyway!
Of course it is a Hive rally, but it IS due to speculation. Any speculative rally usually wanes after a while. This one will too. But hopefully, if we keep people interested, each speculation will lead to higher prices and wider adoption. That is the hope anyways.
And at least one more in the 20 :)
It would be great to have more diversity at the top, and hopefully #posh can help with that.
I hope so!
I was thinking about creating some kind of threads where a topic is put in place, or a question and its stays on trending or some other comunity tab, on the top like for a week or at least few days.
User go there and share opinion and engage on the subject and the best ones organicly are put on a top of that thread/topic/question.
Like an open discution on a subject .... pinned on top for a week so everyone can go, comment, engage, vote .... etc ...
Something like reddit? I don't know the technical side of the mechanics, but it has been effective.
For example, I was looking for the acronym POSH, the original post that used it, and I couldn't find it. I found thousands of posts with #posh tag, but not the original. For this many smart developer around here, I think someone might want to step up to the challenge of 'search'.
I will find it for you ... but with quering the blockchain :)
Give me a day
Thank you! A simple tool can be useful for the masses.

I know I mentioned Dan but this is the earliest top level post with 'posh' as the category and looks to be the one.
Cool! We reserve the right to change our view, if @dalz finds an earlier one 😀
I will be asking the hiveSQL owner for a refund if so! :D
This initiative going on is literally, the best in my opinion! Love everything is going on and that people are more connected than ever! Let's keep it like this as much as we can!
You are already in the know; it is important for someone like you to attract others and pay it forward.
I try my best! :)
Fair points!
I love quality content... and I like to consume posts! Sometimes I upvote/downvote, sometimes I comment and sometimes I just read.
But what is content and what is quality... Well, the usual questions.
I'm agree with @revisesociology 's comment... do we need #posh?
@justineh 's last post has also some interesting points.
This is MY HIGH QUALITY #POSH!
Is it or isn't it???
Hugs
Steemitri The Mannequin
To me, whether we need posh or not is a secondary question. But what we absolutely need is content, quality content. Again, as I said on the post, your quality may be different from my quality, as long as it is not abusive, it will be fine to showcase.
I did my first post today as a member of the Hive community and the support I had in such a short time frame was really out of this world. This is really encouraging for a newcomer no doubt! Still exploring, still reading/following creators, this is such a rich and vast community!
Welcome to hive! I did visit your first post. Good job there. Make yourself at home. There is a lot of learn so try and absorb as much as you can. Finally, the most important part, have fun😉
Funny that I replied to your comment on my blog without reading your answer here and I mentioned feeling home, so we're on the same page! Absolutely, having fun is my goal, chores are work and house cleaning, writing is a hobby lol
Lovely post and. cool that I found the POSH Tag. seems to be a great initiative for the community. In general it feels the community is strong here! 💪🏻🔥❤️
We new here and there hasn't been any meaningful comments on any of our article. We are Music Lyrics blog and we need as much engagements as possible but we lacking. Any advice.
You can find our introductory article here
When I click on your video at "introduce yourself" this is what I get:
May be paying careful attention to what you post will be helpful. Also joining a few communities with similar interest is perhaps useful.
Thanks. I didn't know why. Thanks again. I have been trying for hours to link my gmail to 3speak but it's not connecting
Start connecting with others; That is how social media works, and especially here at HIVE. Just posting and expecting users coming to your post, doesn't work like that.
Yeah, I understand but I'm trying to get used to the platform. I just realized that it is a community based platform and which community I choose, matters a lot. I just need some attention to make feel noticed. I'm trying to join as much discord channels as possible. I would like it, if you could invite me to discord and we chat on ways I could get more attention on my blog. Thanks for the comment, it means a lot.
Check in at eg The Terminal: https://discord.gg/XZGPGpz An entire community helping out the newbees with all sort of things. They also have some artists and music fans over there. They even have a radio show.
Thanks @qsounds
cool idea, i will try it out, even though i normally don't mix my twitter stuff with my blockchain stuff, but WHAT THE HELL ... time for more of the real curation and decentralization /// peace !
I didn't know a lot about POSH initiative earlier. I was simply using the tag. Definitely going to be actively engaging - posting - and enjoying my time here.
Also, I love your perspective towards introverts. I only hope you were joking.
Nop, not joking about introverts. Many are on my DM here like 24-7 😀
Are you one too? Just curious!
I used to be. Not any more, though!
Introvertism in sub-conscious:
"Wait till your neighbor says hi to you"
~
A GIF searcher integrated into the comment box would be cool. With automatic source attribution.
Will add flavor to engagement.
Hello, how are you? your post seems to me extremely important and necessary for the community, first of all because I was a year ago active in the platform and I consider that I gave the best in my posts but I was not visible enough for the community, for not using the communication strategies that you are raising in this, post after a year I have returned with a disposition of work and commitment for the platform and I feel much more motivated to continue publishing although my publications have not had many votes, so I am reactivating myself. Defining what is good content is extremely important, create basic criteria, establish certain parameters is necessary to improve even the competitiveness and improvement in the contents of the old and strengthen the development of those who start, the content of this post is a target to encourage the growth of the platform. not only in rewards but in creativity and content development, we could become an online reference for many platforms that are dedicated to attract freelance content creators among many other things, although that is not the idea, but improving the quality of content is key to conquer ground and investors in the platform.
Greetings...
I’ll probably go into more detail when I get around to an entry, but something I feel is of note is the potential hive has to be for citizenry 2.0. One of the first thoughts that occurred to me when I first discovered blockchain was how it could apply to government, then discovered Steem, but didn’t quite get it. Moving forward I’m reminded of a common phrase I’ve heard various educators utter over the years, “communism looks good on paper but doesn’t work in practice.” I feel at least part of that is because people can’t be trusted... but blockchains and smart contracts can. I’m curious to see how government evolves now that arguably every user knows the basics of witnesses and how to delegate to those they trust if they don’t have time or inclination to dive deeper and cast votes individually.
Then there’s the DAO that requires community input to direct project development. Getting the common folk to take an active role in the financial system and government is nothing short of training responsible citizens, which some would argue are in low supply at the moment.
This is fertile ground for many seeds but those are the ones I’m most interested in.
I want to delegate X sp to @user
Where X is the amount of SP and @user is the steem user you want to delegate to. For example:
I want to delegate 100 sp to @azircon
@tipU will answer with a delegation link. Hope this helps!:)
The internet is actually made for introverts 😅 you don't have to meet the person to speak to him. What could be better?
I agree that many posts here lack engagement. Initiatives like this one should have an impact :)
That's a great news about high positive engagement here on Hive. Although like a always say, I am new into Hive community but still I will stay positive and creative as well. I am a geologist too.
Hey! Thanks for helping. It is very important to know about that. Sometimes is complicated to write many lines, interesting lines, however everyday we can learn and practicing, with help of people like You.
Sorry for my english. Regards.
I'm thinking, those of us including myself who're introverts but need to engage as you say in order to leave our mark here, otherwise we can as well not be here at all, we can think that we're doing art. I mean, even true artists don't have all the followers in the world and not everyone understand or even like their art, likewise we can put something out here in the open and say a few words and little by little it's going to become an exercised habbit.
after reading information from you, I like waking up from my sleep, I have been too ignoring involvement in the hive, but you have ended it, now I will be more involved in the hive and start commenting on and appreciating the posts I found
Excellent! I have seen that hashtag and was wondering how to use it, thanks for sharing this information
