My user name Living-UK-Taiwan consists of two countries, both of which happen to be big tea drinking countries. Let me show you some tea from both countries.
Twinnings
Twinnings is an iconic 300 year old brand of tea from England. If you've visited UK or like tea, you may have seen them around. I always get them as gifts, particularly for overseas friends, you can never go wrong with a bit of British'ness can you? This particular box was a present from a friend when she came round for dinner the other month. It's in a lovely presentation box and has 8 different types of tea all individually packed.
My go to tea is also from Twinnings, it's their English Breakfast tea. I took this photo from the supermarket the other day as my stash is tucked away in the corner of my pantry. I always stock up when they are on special offer to make sure I don't run out. Currently, I have 6 boxes, and each box has 120 teabags, that's 720, and will last me about a year 😊
Earl Grey is another popular type of tea, and often perceived as a posh drink. It's infused with bergamont flavour. Personally, I'm not a big fan of drinking Eary Grey, but I have a bag of loose leaf at home which I use to make bread and cakes.

Yorkshire Tea
Yorkshire Tea is another British brand, and I think they're the second most popular brand in the UK. In recent years they've launched some unique flavours like this Biscuit Brew which has a malty flavour. We have a box at home, my husband likes to drink it with condensed milk because he said it's like the Hong Kong style tea he used to drink. When I took this photo, I notice they have another new flavour called Caramelised Biscuit Brew. He said he's going to get a box and try it sometime
Fruit teas
I love elderflower drinks and was very intrigued when I saw this elderflower and pear white tea. Sadly, it didn't live up to expectations. My niece gave me the blue box of herbal tea, she said it wasn't her cup of tea😂. And the jar in the middle is Ukranian apple tea, which came from Ukraine, of course💛 💙
My other tea collection
My Chinese calligraphy teacher in Taiwan is a tea connoisseur, this is part of his collection. When I visited him the other year, he served me a tea tasting session of three different types of tea, starting from the lightest green tea, to the strongest black tea. I remember he told me the price of the black tea, it was... expensive !! And very nice, even though I don't normally like black tea. The bundle at the top right is a type of black tea called pu'er and it a collectors item.
My collection isn't as extensive as his and I'm running a little low on stock. Luckily, Chinese tea last a long time. You only need a small amount for each brew, and I don't drink it every day. Tea drinking is more of a lifestyle, especially when you're drinking good quality tea. It should be enjoyed and savoured slowly in a relaxing environment. One of my favorite tea is called Oolong, and Taiwan produces some of the best due to its high altitude. The higher the altitude better the quality. These two tins of Oolong were presents from my friends from my last trip back to Taiwan in 2023.
And here's a pack of green tea. It's vacuum pack, solid as a brick to keep its freshness. The thing I love about Taiwanese tea is that many come with an air tight tin, not only does it keep the tea fresh, it's also very presentable as a gift. In fact I thnk all my Chinese tea are gifts from friends, I rarely buy them myself. I'm so blessed to have so many nice friends 😊
The Japanese are also famous for their tea. This is Genmaicha, a green tea with toasted rice. That's the brown and white bits. Genmaicha has a nice nutty flavour and balances very well with green tea to give it another dimension.
Snowpea's home
Some of you may know my little girl Snowpea and her bestie Mary. They live with me, specifically on my tea shelf in the kitchen. This is where I keep my day to day drinks. Coffee pods on the left, two more tea tins from Taiwan with more tea inside, and my English breakfast teabags on the right.
Hive Collectors topic this month, but at least I got the tea part. I thnk that still counts. 😅This wasn't quite what @mipiano had planned for her "motivational quotes" from her teabags
Crikey Moses you do own a lot of tea! I must say that I only ever buy one type and yes it is to me the best tea in the UK, and probably one of the dearest, but at around about 7p a tea bag, in the great scheme of things that is cheap! Compared to the fools who gladly pop into one of those corporate coffee houses and pay what £4-5 for a cardboard cup of dishwater.
Tea, best drink of the day.....until that is the sun passes over the yardarm and I crack out the gin!
I think even Morrisons cafe charge you something like £1.50 for tea, so 7p is a steal. I tried the strong one once, but found it a tad too strong because I keep my tea bag in my tea.
On a separate note, I love your fridge. @mipiano look👀!!!
I seeeeeeee, a HUGE collection of fridge magnets 😍
I think that @grindle actually wants to bring them to the Hive Collectors community as his contribution, he just needs to be reminded by us 😁
just give me a gentle nudge and I shall do what I need to do LOL
You keep your tea bag in your cup, LOL what and chew it afterwards? That is weird!
My fridge blushed and said thank you

I used to hate tea when I was younger, but now I really love it. I would love to try some of these more exotic flavors that are out there. I do like earl grey and English breakfast. I also am a big fan of just plain green tea and black tea.
I always got the impression all Americans are big coffee drinkers. You learn something new every day on Hive
No, I can't really stand coffee. I have just never taken to it.
England here
been lookin for a place to purchase some proper good Chinese tea. You know any places?
PS - the Assam Strong and Malty is super nice! I have me a yin yang (a Hong Kong drink, coffee and tea mixed, yum!) tea.
Yo England! Brummie, right?
I used to buy my "good" tea from the old tea shops in NT in HK, they're normally very honest and trustworthy. In recent years I been getting them from Taiwan.
Luk Yu is good, they're available in UK, you might find them in the likes of Wing Yip, if not try online. I actually forgot to include this in my post.

Is that brewing Assam + biscuit together? Gonna tell hubs to try it
That was fun! I liked seeing our collection. That reminds me I was thinking of having a English Tea while there. Do you know of a good place in London?
Yes, you definitely need to do afternoon tea when you're in London! Some top end ones I've heard of are The Ritz, The Worseley, Shangri La at the Shard, Claridges, The Goring, The Lanesborough. However I haven't been to any of these, but they all sound very good!
Great, thanks for the recommendations. I will check them out!
This is a huge collection. Even though we Indians love tea, we typically have only one or two brands. When do you drink all these teas?greetings :)
You guys have the best tea, I believe that's where we get most of our tea from. You even own the second most popular brand in UK!
Earl Grey is delicious, but is also one of the biggest marketing tricks ever. There apparently really was an Earl Grey, and what he'd do was buy the sweepings from the holds of the tea clippers and all the sub-standard bales super-cheap, then infuse it with bergamot oil, re-package it and sell the stuff as a premium product. Clever guy ! 😁

Smart guy!
The thing with Earl Grey is I can never figure out if I should add milk to it. I've tried both, and they still taste a bit odd
Well I like my Earl Grey really milky, but I know a lot of people prefer it unadulterated. I'm not sure there's a "right" way, because people seem to split pretty much 50/50.
On the other hand, I used to drink Rooibus (red bush) tea with milk, but was told it really is better without. So I tried it, and they were most definitely right !

Wow quite the selections of tea you have. I have always been a coffee drinker but I have thought about making the switch to tea. The thought has been going on for more than two years, haha. Maybe I need to buy a variety pack like the twinings you have shown. Go from there and go with the one I like best.
Getting a selection box is a nice way to start, the only downside is you may end up not liking most of it if you're very particular with your tea. Apart from the herbal teas, I've actually never ventured much beyond English breakfast. Herbal ones are good if you want something lighter and more relaxing
Que interesante colección
Thank you!
I didn't even know a box can contain 120 teabags! 😳 Wow, that's a lot and having 6 boxes you indeed can not run out of stock for a year or more! I like fruit teas, and elderflower would be my cup of tea 😁, we also used to make juice from elderflower and it was very tasty.
The Japanese Genmaicha tea looks so good in that bowl, like a little snack :D
So cool to see more types of tea and more collections of tea/teabags! Your Chinese calligraphy teacher would also make a great teapoSt, as you and @duskobgd also did! 😇
I love elderflower cold drinks, but never made them from the plant before. You're so resourceful!
The teabags are very small when there's no envelope, and there are 40 in each of the 3 foil packs inside each box, keeping them nice and fresh.
When I had my tea tasting session with my calligraphy teacher, he served snacks. It was a special tofu cake that was very light and he only served it with the black tea otherwise it would have over powered the lighter flavour tea. So much art in the whole process!
It was my mom and sister who used to make that homemade elderflower juice 😉 I just liked to drink it :))
That sounds like a real tea ceremony :) 🍵
I do like some oolong. I am deeply envious of your chinese calligraphy teacher's collection. I love Chinese tea and Japanese tea too. I am not such a fan of the English ones although I do occasionally like a cup of Yorkshire or tetley just cos it reminds me of my mum who drank gallons of the stuff!
Interesting you like Oolong as well. Do you manage to get any good ones in UK?
I normally have two cuppas a day, occasionally three, but I try not to do that by too often as it stains my teeth. My dad used to drink Typhoon, and I drank that for a while because he did. Hopefully he won't be looking down telling me off for abandoning his favourite drink!
There are a couple of specialty tea shops that I get mine from. I think it is good but I probably have no reference point as to whether it really is in the grand scale of things!
I drink several cups of green tea a day. It weaned me off the typhoon!
No PG-Tips love?, that's always been my drink.
Twinnings English Breakfast! Remember you had to rescue me in Bangkok when I ran out 😁

The art of drinking tea
And it's clear who the master is 👏
😊
There's this saying in our culture which roughly translates to
You drink tea when you have lots of spare time
Your drink alcohol when you're bored
You smoke when you have nothing better to do
I was delighted to see your tea collection. It is extensive and very beautiful too... longlifeteauktaiwan!!!! ☺️😅
💛💙
I'm collecting a lot of new usernames!!
Glad you enjoyed seeing my collection
I think I'll love to go to taiwan by tasting its tea, seems there have a lot of flavour but do there have pineapple flavor tea though? just curious
Taiwan does a lot of fruit tea for younger market, the tea market is very big. If you've heard of it or had bubble tea before, that originated from Taiwan.
Ohh i see, I've heard abouth that, hmm but whats the best taiwan tea you recommend the one that is super exquisite
I really love tea. ☕
And I am amazed to see your tea collection.
You're welcome
That's too much tea! In Turkey we usually prefer black tea, I will check if there are different options for you or I will find some light ones haha. Earl Grey is preferred in my country. I think they like the bergamont flavor you mentioned.
That sounds great!! 💯
What a beautiful presentation of these teas, I used to see the typical presentation in a simple cardboard box haha I must say that tea is the finest hot drink I know 😊
There so many varieties of tea, there must be a suitable one for everyone
I've seen Twinings sold here in the US as well as Earl Grey (my husband likes that, but he's still more of a coffee lover).
I think the Earl Grey became more popular here in the US with "Star Trek: The Next Generation" since that's what Captain Pickard always asked the replicator for: Earl Grey, hot.
I have tried to like tea. I've tried all sorts of tea. I thought, I love peppermint, so maybe I'll like peppermint tea - nope. I don't know what it is about drinks that I don't like. I don't like coffee (not even the smell), tea, or soda pop. I will drink some juices (still not a favorite, but tolerable). My drink of choice is water. My oldest daughter is the same way.
We love Twinings! English Breakfast for me, normally but I do sometimes have an Earl Grey which is the wife's preference. I'm also happy to report that the prices here are only about 10% more than back home. We usually fill shoes with teabags when we visit the UK. 'Every little (space) helps' as they say.

Snap!!! 10% is very acceptable for home products. What do you do about milk? I imagine fresh milk is pretty expensive in Thailand like rest of Asia. I find UHT a lot thinner
It's not too bad here, I think as there is quite a large dairy industry and with massive inflation seen in the UK over the last few years since Covid, I'm guessing we're pretty close. I pay 102Baht for 2 litres which at today's exchange rate is £2.34. Local cheese is an abomination but butter isn't bad, there are many import brands and it comes in at around 124baht for 227g which is £2.85. Lots of yoghurt here which is really cheap.
Today my Weetabix arrived! 190B for a 24 biscuit pack which is a whopping £4.37. I only have a few little treats from home!
Thank goodness milk is still very cheap in UK! Butter has really gone up since Covid, dunno why, since milk hasn't. I'm guessing milk is subsidised to keep the price down. I didn't realise there's a dairy industry in Thailand, and yoghurt as well? Is that eaten by a lot of Thais? It's interesting to find out so much about the eating habits in other countries
