As a serious investor and business man...
As a community builder and fellow Hive Maximalist...
This behaviour is unacceptable. š
šThis is only some of the total downvotes my account has gotten over the last couple days... what about you? Any of you fine people of Hive getting the same unwarranted treatment?
Everywhere I go I spread positivity and good Wil with every post and comment...
Everywhere I go I hand out #HighFiveās and compound trust...
So what is this?
If this isnāt a form of phycological abuse and miserable unfriendliness I donāt know what is.
If the unfriendlies here on Hive want me to fall in line... thatās not going to work and not what and why Iām here...
As a business man (for over 10 years) I am in business because this is a chance to do what I want to do... not what everyone else wants me to do!
As an investor (for over 10 years) I am an investor because this is a chance to vote for the good things I want to see more of in this world... and Hive has been a radical way to do just that!
Hive has been a chance to exercise freedom and have my voice heard... all while being a community builder, business owner, and social investor.
Itās a chance to exercise good Wil and build trust...
...and its a chance to earn respect one post and one comment at a time.
But what @spaminator has been doing on the Hive Blockchain makes me hesitate and have seconds thoughts to...
- Invest my hard earned money INTO HIVE.
- Invest my time building out my businessās ON HIVE.
- Bring my friends, family, and famous TO HIVE.
- Tell anyone anything ABOUT HIVE.
I am, for years now, someone who cares about Hive as an OWNER. What this means is Iām, every day, spending upwards of 5 hours per. Day promoting Hive (for free) on Twitter, YouTube, and Fitbit... all places I DONāT want to be spending my time... but I absolutely AM SPENDING MY TIME... because I want to bring people here... to bring ACTUAL VALUE to our blockchain... to bring WONDERFUL PEOPLE to our blockchain.
So why is @spaminator spamming my account (and others?) with downvotes to comments and posts that arenāt, in any way, shape, or form, spam?
So why are these actions being taken?
Is this healthy for our social environment?
Are these just misguided people lashing out at the positive world?
I wonder about this actually...
And I worry that unhealthy minds have infected key positions within our blockchain.
And I honestly hope that we as the Hive Community can come together and build our way out of this.
Letās find ways to use DPOS and the community to control negative factors like Spam (and plagiarism to) and build it right into Hives internal code so as to avoid the centralization of power and function around weaker minds.
These are people having stepped into self appointed roles of trust and care and they are abusing that trust and care.
Their original intent was to take actions to maintain the health and well-being of the Hive network... but now they have turned on Hive and itās community of OWNERS and are taking unfriendly actions that are a catalyst to an unhealthy blockchain and an unfriendly one.
This will effect the price of Hive as Hive is only as strong as its community of owners.
So again... what is the purpose behind this rash of downvotes and negativity?
Is this unhealthy minds attempting to signal people to fall in line?
Is this an attempt to censor peopleās free Wil and Voice on the Hive Blockchain?!
Are we not all owners here?
Are we not all striving to create a friendly, welcoming, healthy Hive that is censorship resistant and decentralized?
Do we not want people to be excited and create exciting content here on Hive?
Do we not want people to #JoinUP and tell their friends, family, and famous about Hive?
If so...
- This is the very behaviour that will hurt the health and well-being of Hives Communities...
- This is VERY bad for everyone... new and experienced to this blockchain...
- THIS is whatās going to ultimately hurt Hives price and standing within the wider crypto community...
Outside eyes are watching... and we, as a community, have got to counter if we indeed care.
Are the people on the outside going to want to invest, build, and tell other people about Hive if rouge accounts are going around spreading unfriendliness rather than simply āserving their functionā?
This has got to STOP.
@spaminator has absolutely GOT to answer for their actions as they are outside their scope and clearly behaving badly on and for this blockchain.
If this account (and others) are going to be going around pinging peopleās comments and posts with unwarranted downvotes... they have some explaining to do.
Why are they taking actions that are clearly outside their self assigned role (could *this be where the problem stems?) within our wider Hive community. Since when does the account thatās supposed to identify and alert the community to spam become the account that spreads spam AND unfriendly negativity?!
...and are we, as a community, going to allow and put up with this?
Collectively, I believe that we need to all, as OWNERS, give this some thought and move together against the unfriendly factions forming on this blockchain.
So what are your thoughts everybody?
Will I still be able to talk good about whatās happening on the Hive Blockchain with these sorts of things going on?
Will I be able to get my attention BACK to promoting offchain and liftingUP people onchain?
...or is our current social environment to unhealthy to do ANY of that?
I would love to hear your thoughts and listen to how your feeling about how things are going here on Hive...
Perhaps there is a reason the price is slumping when it should have been risingUP?
Outside eyes are watching... they are deciding if they want to be a part of what we are doing here...
I think that this is a pretty important consideration... donāt you?

P.S. I happen to be on vacation but because I care about Hiveās Health and Iām very concerned about itās current state of affairs and well-being... I have decided to take some time to write this post.
Iām going to tag a couple people I have come to respect (or could possibly be responsible for this debacle) so that they can take a look at and weigh in on (or explain) these actions taken by @spaminator as I believe they need to be accountable for their actions.
@apshamilton
@theycallmedan
@themarkymark
@acidyo
@dickturpin
@guiltyparties
Does anyone know if these accounts are operated by or affiliated with @hivewatchers?
Are they one and the same?
I would be interested to know... as they both seem to have quite official self-granted titles... but they are taking the same sorts of misguided, less then healthy actions here on Hive.
Who is in charge of these accounts?
And heads up everyone... I hope that you all can rethink your votes for the @HiveWatcher proposal as there has been some very serious concerns with this account and itās recent actions and political bias towards certain members of our Hive community. There account has serious considerations and concerns levied against it that need to be addressed. (@apshamilton can vouch for this last statement that I have tabled if you are wanting more information.)
Heads up: Iāll be posting about the issues with @HiveWatcherās as well once Iām back from my vacation and in front of my computer.
As well, @theycallmedan, are you still supporting the @spaminator account with delegations? Iām just wondering as I was reviewing some of the older posts associated with this account.
Perhaps we need to reach out independently and let any delegators know about the misuse of their delegations...
Iām am confident that we, as a bright, smart, qualified, engaged, and friendly community can innovate spam and anti-plagiarism protocols and methods that are better for this blockchain... donāt you?
I am in no way affiliate with Hive Watchers and spaminator has always been a freaking joke.
But I respect you Mark. Thatās why I asked for your attention in this matter.
The account was reported and added to the spaminator 2 months ago. For comment farming. I see that #guiltyparties is sorting out the appeal now
I don't like the idea of Internet police on hive :D
Because if hive userbase base would increase massive, we can't downvote everyone that's stupid or weird. Look at other social networks. Everything that's there "allowed" must be here too. Otherwise, we can stop the social experiment of hive, because we cant change humans by nature :)
Great to know someone so informed and educated in the subject of human behavioral biology and evolutionary psychology.
Could you please define an describe what is human nature please?
Humans by nature ( look at other social media) post 99% useless bullshit. If we give them the feeling they are not welcome, simple they avoid hive.
No user experience = no growth potential = meh investment.
Most people don't care about a 1-5 cent upvote. But they care of a downvote and the feeling behind it.
There are studies around that topic.
To keep it simple, the user must like the feeling to be here.
Edit: and to point 1. If it would be decline by default = user experience ok. If not you show people disagreement. This is nothing people accept in 21 century.
Even a man that's becoming a woman is today a woman. Disagree with it? People cancel you.
"Humans by nature ( look at other social media) post 99% useless bullshit. If we give them the feeling they are not welcome, simple they avoid hive"
HW don't care what content they post as long as it is not an attempt of trickery and fraud through plagiarism identity theft/deception or exploitation like spam.
If you don't like that trickstery and fraud like plagiarism is not rewarded, you can move to other social media and ask them to pay you to post such content.
You can also try Steemit or Blurt. No one care about scamming there.
You have not answered my question. You throw terms and words around that you appear to have no understanding of the meaning of. Could you please define and describe what is human nature, please?
Dafuq are you two on about?
Lol
It appears @spaminator is officially associated with @hivewatchers as it is mentioned in their new HPS proposal. https://peakd.com/hive/@hivewatchers/the-hivewatchers-and-spaminator-operational-proposal#@guiltyparties/qvsczb
I will look into this.
From what I can see @spaminator has gone beserk and is autodownvoting lots of quality content, not just by you by by others.
The only account with a substantial delegation to it is @arhag
You notice how quiet a certain unnamed person is since I mentioned potentially doxxing or taking up legal action as they are my neighbor here in Canada lol, could serve them in person and show everyone their stupid face when they realize who I am.
I actually think Hive Watchers has cleaned up a bit, but this kind of activity was commonly associated with an ANTIFA narrative and a certain unnamed person who I don't want to provide the summons for atm. His attention would draw in that adm account on this matter. Adm is still messing with people and maybe affiliated with HW, but unconfirmed.
The spaminator has not gone berserk and as far as we know it is not downvoting any account that does not deserve to be blacklisted. Stop spreading lies-disinformation again about Hivewatchers and the spaminator.
Just because the spaminator was offline for a few weeks does not mean that these accounts should not receive these tiny downvotes.
Many accounts were blacklisted in the last few weeks while teh spaminator was offline. Finally, the spaminator is catching up on all of these accounts so they can be informed that they were blacklisted.
In the case of wil.metcalfe, he was blacklisted 2 months ago for commenting on farming. The spaminator only now started to marking his posts.
As he explained, he considered his own votes so amazing and valuable that he needed to upvote himself on mass.
Comment farming is not a practice that Hivewatchers has any legitimacy in involving itself in. It is not fraud by any definition and is not listed in the Hivewatchers HPS proposal.
@spaminator IS downvoting accounts that have perfectly legitimate original content (I have personally checked). Something is wrong and you should be taking feedback from the community and not attacking the messenger.
I have advised that comment farming should be removed from Hivewatchers reporting forms and procedures.
As Hive's lawyer I'm formally stating that Hivewatchers is on dangerous legal ground when it asks for HPS money from the Hive community on one basis and acts in another.
Thank you @Apshamilton for taking time and valuable brain juice to weigh into this conversation about Hives integrity and what should and shouldnāt be considered taboo on this social blockchain.
I have left some thoughts in regards to what @logic (and a few other less visionary minds) have been talking about in how comments (people who care comment yes? š) are valued and appreciated.
Again... thank you for your support in this way. It means a lot especially as I am on a family vacation with little time to pay attention to whatās being said here in the comments of this post...
Iām doing my best in the early hours, late hours, in-between fun at the lake with my family. Itās what I can do for now until Iām home and in front of my computer again.
Itās really good that we are breaking ground here though... as I know itās thinking and practices like the ones being discussed that are burning out new people and dragging the price of Hive through the gutter. Maybe not today... with the Hive boost... but why is it that every time Hive jumpsUP the price dumps... could it be that bigger accounts are seeing the writing on the unfriendly walls and fleeing the ship?
This is really about power and control. Itās really about a select few trying to achieve their own ends at the expense of every one attempting to bring good will and good people into this blockchain. Itās disposable that an entity such as the ones we are discussing thinks that it is āprotectingā the integrity of this blockchain... and doing us (the owners of Hive ) a favour.
So again... thank you for assisting me freely! This says a lot about your character.
.
@wil.metcalfe
Besides that... āComment Farmingā is just that... a term or label that one group of minds has come up with to label how another operates their Hive account. I am an owner just as much as any out there. I have REAL skin in the game having sold my fitness studio and invested in Hive above $1. I continue to invest even while Hive has slumped below $1. And I will continue to do so with my financial capital... however! I am on here, the Hive Blockchain, because I believe in a new form of capital. Social Capital. Iām continually investing in the wonderful people here on Hive and have given literally THOUSANDS OF HIVE AWAY to people who deserve it. This is being down with an initiative called #HighFive where I freely give away 5 Hive to further Good Wil on the Hive Blockchain. Iām also GOVING AWAY THOUSANDS OF HIVE within my fitness initiatives. I believe in better ways to human and operate on a completely different mental blueprint than the smaller less invested minds attacking me with their own form of spam... downvote spam... see! We can all come up with terms and labels! Right?
Regardless... Hive has intelligent design baked into it and code is law... not human opinion and conjecture. It is possible to rank comments (your own included) so why is this considered taboo?
This is simply a show where small crabs in the hive bucket are trying to assert themselves over someone (an owner with considerable skin in the game) what they should do with their own account.
Winning is a team spirit... this sort of mentality isnāt winning... itās loosing and Iām not going to stand by idaly while thee @hivewatchers click goes around spoiling Hive with unfriendly ideas and actions.
Enough is enough already.
I concur
Just because some of the posts are legitimate now, it does not mean that the user should be removed from the blacklist.
Anyway, I highly doubt that you can even do a basic plagiarism investigation to arrive at such a claim.
Please drop the names of accounts that allegedly have not abused so they are on the spaminator by mistake.
Where is @spaminator hiding right now if he is not automatic?
Come on, man...he is downvoting while I am writing this. Is that legit?
I have no idea what are you talking about. And why shouldn't it downvote you with its tiny downvotes.
Of course, it will.
It finally is enabled again so it will continue to give you these downvotes as it should have done so since when your account was blacklisted on 15th June.
Who told you that the spaminator blacklist is not automatic?
I think you need to just shut up dude. You're starting to sound like a douche bag.
I think this power is getting to your head mate.
Seriously.
Lol you clearly missed him trip out on me and use adm as well as spaminator to downvote me.
His status as a douchebag is established in blood sweat and tears.
All to prevent spam?
No, no, he is antifa bruh, but what do I know... maybe more than I am letting on, hoping I choke them out with sheer desperation and fear.
If they ever get confident again, perhaps a dog or serving them in person is what I'll do, seeing as they are Canadian I could easily have their name and address released to me by authorities to serve them a notice of intent to pursue criminal charges against them.
It's funny because they think me and the hive lawyer are working together lol, unlike them, we don't need to gang up on anyone to know straight up bullshit and bias when we see it.
I think this is probably one of the most important statements that Hive members need to get through their thick skulls! Interacting on Hive all day long while sitting on a huge pile of [HP] assets telling anyone who will listen: "I work hard to promote accounts and support where possible." is a commendable activity BUT there's a danger it encourages cliques, a potential situation whereby sheep fall into line with what the shepherd has said. It doesn't increase the membership and diversity of the hive platform; it reinforces the Walled Garden mentality that I've seen a lot over the years with communities.
Why would you want to spend your time on Twitter when it's Hive where you earn all that lovely $HBD? Because that's where you get new members outside of the Hive community. Peoples time on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Friendi.ca, Tumblr costs, but sadly nobody sees that or seem to care.
I am in no way affiliated or associated with either Hivewatchers or spaminator, so hopefully, I fall into the "Respect" category? Which is nice and makes a refreshing change. Bwahahaha.
What I find VERY INTERESTING is the accusation spaminator is downvoting legitimate posts or comments? If that is the case, surely that's outside their remit? (Does anyone have a remit on Hive? I certainly didn't vote for any self-appointed protector?) that smacks of vendetta and abuse of position or, at the very least, power. You know, I really hate bullies with a vengeance.
If only there were some sort of independent arbitration on Hive................aw fook, I'm suggesting even more dilution of the Freedom Ethic of Hive. š¤£ š¤£ š¤£ š¤£Thank you Dick for weighing in here. I really appreciate you taking the time to have these constructive things to say.
Iām currently on vacation and managing all this via my cell phone... no small feat to be sure! (Just wait until I get home and in front of my computer! š)
So Iāll give your comment another read (when I squeeze some time out of who knows where! Hahaha!) and comment appropriately.
Thank you again.
Your thoughts are indeed valued and appreciated.
Thank you for being one of the good guys here on Hive. š
Yup, I totally see this as that
HTTP is in use instead of HTTPS and no protocol redirection is in place. Be careful and do not enter sensitive information in that website as your data won't be encrypted.
It's also a good habit to always hover links before clicking them in order to see the actual link in the bottom-left corner of your browser.
FFS! This is why Bots are actually crap at this sort of thing. It's a link to a .wav file. Hardly unlikely to be designed to steal your keys. In fact, I suspect the file was created long before blockchain was even invented! What a crock of bollocks.
REVIEW
Sorry 'bout that. I already have a whitelist of extensions. Missed this one, will whitelist it.
Sadly, you caught me at a bad time. I'm currently on a witch hunt for (IMO) bad bots and bad practices from self-appointees on Hive. Sorry if I was a bit aggressive. I get that way when my hackles are raised.
No worries =]
Hive ON
I want to do a post about our interaction. Do you have any objections if I reproduce this thread? Even though it's now in the public domain anyway. LOL
At least they are trying to make things better. This is not something that needs to be flagged up and maybe needs a whitelist of file types. I do think we get too many bot comments generally. They can outnumber the human ones on some posts. Maybe that is more an issue of people not commenting.
"One man's meat is another man's poison." It Seems to me it's yet another example of someone setting themselves up with a cheap way of earning upvotes that requires little or no interaction from the Bot owner. Given fairly soon, Google will block any non HTTPS content; this seems to add little value if you ask me. In fact, I'd argue it borders on spam but worse than that, it highlights accounts for no valid reason, and there are enough morons on Hive with their fingers poised over the downvote button who will drool "They're on a list [any list!]! Downvote them!" #LeSigh
Very few people downvote on Hive. Those who do are likely to get retaliation even if they are dealing with abuse.
Maybe check how much this person is making. Not exactly life-changing and they are likely to get a lot of shit for doing it. The HTTP thing is just one aspect of what they do and maybe not a particularly valuable one. Feel free to downvote the bot comment.
Hi Steve! I do believe we are breaking some ground here in this post and anyone taking the time to read the post and and comments (commenting themselves) is appreciated! Thank you for caring to do so.
Letās all continue to support a friendlier Hive... I really hope that we can do more to address these issues as they are burning out new people faster than they are coming in.
Static and stuck mindsets need to evolve, mature, and change if we are to bring Hive UP to a new level (and bring on more wonderful people).
šI have always said that Hive is the strawberry that sells itās self... And I mean it! š
We canāt let what we have worked so hard to build spoil on the shelf due to less visionary minds stomping through the Strawberry patch.
As an owner I wonāt stand for it and I hope others will see @hivewatchers and @spaminators behaviour for what it is.
Spamming me with unwarranted downvotes doesnāt make Hive a better, more healthy, and friendlier place... so thatās got to be stopped and these people need to explain and answer for the actions they have taken against us... the owners here within the Hive community.
Itās impossible for us to externally promote Hive while fires burn on our very door steps..
So again... thank you for caring to comment ! Both you and @dickturpin.steps.S.
I also sympathize with you
Thank you. What happens to 1 happens to all. Can we let stuff like this slide? Itās only a matter of time before this sort of haphazard policy effects each and everyone here... and when that happens... will we be able to say that we are decentralized and censorship resistant?
Here is the actual link to the above conversation point I have made to @logic
https://ecency.com/hive-150329/@maylenasland/hive-marketing-being-downvoted-by#@logic/qw4poz
Does this guy work for the @hivewatchers and @spaminator overwatch? Does anyone know?
It might be likely that he is part of this 3 man crew of clowns mentioned in one of the latest @HiveWatchers posts:
https://ecency.com/hive/@hivewatchers/the-hivewatchers-and-spaminator-operational-proposal
If you havenāt already... now is the time to fo something about this overwatch we are all finding ourselves under.
If you have voted for the @HiveWatchers proposal please consider unvoting it as it is NOT something healthy for our blockchain.
There are better ways to implement Hive integrity... I have brought this up multiple times in my conversations with these people... but so far they skip right over that aspect of my comments and do not give me a straightforward constructive comment on who the implementation of Hive security could be done better with code built into the blockchain and implemented with the DPOS us Hive owners already have.
We need to build this into the blockchain in a trustless way so as to avoid the negative drawbacks that centralized and error wrought human implementation brings.
So they have their financial and operational proposal, it is very broad in language. It's why I would create an alternative proposal with detailed protocol and jurisdictional scopes defined, this would obviously take time to create, but it creates an operational, procedural, and intellectual backbone to the objections made so that we can have reform. It seems @guiltyparties is open to such a proposed procedural document (which is great) and I think other witnesses and prominent members of the various communities that are powered by Hive would be open to re-thinking things, unless they are looking to maintain a cartel.
There are several in their sphere who give up the game (figuratively speaking) that it is about making sure HIVE doesn't get in the "wrong hands" and protecting their ownership stakes, which can turn into a very ugly situation. Actions that are against Hive overall ToS vs. the rules of a few looking to protect their own interests is one part of the issue.
Deeming the creation of multiple targeted accounts problematic is a scaling issue for Hive (what is considered valuable to those in a particular community may not be for a few). Let's consider the possibility of corporate media organizations who may wish to join and assign accounts to their individually owned affiliates/entities that they own and operate on the local level. Would they be considered "scammers"? Is Hivewatchers going to go off the rails calling Sinclair Media/Meredith Corporation/Tegna/Vox/Tribune a scammer? Is there a faster way to watch this all fall apart than that scenario? They can freely operate on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., but they may want to come here and be a part of this and there is nothing that expressly prohibits them from operating here like they do on those other platforms, but there are interests here that would seemingly oppose this based on their established behavior and would go out of their way to defame and hide their content.
Another issue is potential for abuse of power given the centralization of it. It opens up the door for extortion, retaliation, heavy shorting, PR nightmares, and other issues that may come from this centralization of power. One person acts poorly, maybe they ask for a sexually compromising image of a female Hive user from a country that has far less opportunity in exchange for removal from a blacklist. That female Hive user needs the HIVE to survive and resorted to begging in appeals on Discord with this self-appointed authority and this is a possible penance. You don't think that something like this won't happen? You think someone won't whistleblow? Do you want to prevent something like this from happening? I know I do.
We need Standard Operating Procedures and operational requirements for tribes and apps so that they can manage themselves. We don't settle disputes on Discord, we handle it here because we should "eat our own dog food."
I am invested in the overall concept of the Hive blockchain, I aim to create my own dApp, token, and tribe. I want to convert traditional sports message board users to come here, it's in my development road map and now I see existential problems that can be damaging.
Tribes/communities/dApps could choose to be stricter on content quality without having to turn to OCD (which is a centralized effort even though 'Decentralized' is in the name). I know I would, but that's just a sample size of ONE. If I saw the type of content I see commonly in OCD in my tribe, it would get a downvote because I just have different expectations. I would have a full set of expectations published for my tribe. The beauty of decentralization is that we can all have different standards and approaches.
I would be honored to draft a new standard operating procedure, it will take time, but it matters. I appreciate feedback and discussing revisions to it.
On a side note to all reading this (Wil this entire message is not directed solely to you):
I am very transparent about the way I operate. I syndicate my content to Hive and I have presently 30 other accounts that ARE DEDICATED to covering individual MLB teams, I put in a lot of work to improving content and ensuring that readers get their daily digest of their favorite teams and I syndicate previews of highlighted sporting events. (We happen to be in a bit of a dead period because it is the MLB All-Star Break.) I am going to be expanding into College Sports, many in the DunkSocial community are very excited about this because they will get College Basketball coverage that they were not getting before.
I made the mistake of not testing a new piece of code a few days ago and my intentions of staggering out posts across all properties turn into one massive spray, which was definitely not my intent. I know very well that I am not going to get interactions if I send everything out in one shot. Staggering out posts makes more sense from an engagement perspective and I thought that the code I wrote was going to do that. I made an indentation error and my program did not do what I intended at all, this error was fixed and now it is operating as intended.
I still wouldn't say I like multiple accounts even though people have demonstrated legitimate reasons for it. I kind of see it like doing the lottery. The more tickets you have, the more chances you have of winning, so I can't get the idea of "Fleecing the system" out of my head. Given there's not a never-ending supply of Hive (for the minute?), that's another factor in my dislike of the practice.
You have me nodding like a demented loon! And the best of it is, it seems to me that some of the individuals are self-appointed. Nobody voted them in or said, "Of course you can walk through the
Blockchainstreets and accuse whoever you like without any redress while your victim, of course, only has one course of action, and that's appealing to you!" Nice work if you can get it.I've never understood this "Begging on Discord"? If I had an overactive imagination, I would say there was a reason for it: The accusation was made on Public Domain, Hive, where pretty much everyone can see, make a comment and follow the 'incident' to a conclusion. I would argue 95% of the Hive community do not use Discord, wouldn't have a clue how to get on there or what to do if they did manage to get as far as the court of the Crimson King. And what is this court of appeal? I'd argue it's a channel populated by friends and supporters of the channel owner where I should think there's little chance of leaving without losing an eye and supporting a broken arm. Talk about being thrown into the bear pit! But of course, that's just my overactive imagination. š
Thank you for taking the time to provide this very in depth and constructive comment! Iām very glad that there are people thinking carefully about how things are going on this blockchain and how they will incorporate Hive into the development of new and exciting ways to implement it. Your careful analyses is whatās needed right now... and I wish/hope that there are more people working on making the Hive Blockchain a better place. You and I are alike in that we both desire to make Hive a destination. I want people to feel as those they have finally arrived... thatās how I originally felt when I became a member of the Hive community. I felt so confident that I shuttered my FB account and began investing both Bitcoin and time into Hive. Itās been quite awhile now since I began this adventure and Iām still excited... although a little concerned by the level of thinking Iām encountering recently. Itās rigged, and small minded in its scale and will not be whatās needed to propel Hive to where it. Reds to be as a successfulcrypto project.
Iām going to give this comment a read through a couple times. You have some real depth here in your comment and I FULLY appreciate that.
Thank you again for adding your voice to this open discussion:
@wil.metcalfe
I get you. I feel you.
I am also one of the top Hive influencers.
What hivewatchers did for me since March?
Shut me up as much as they Could.
Hive people need to start reacting to this ācentralizationā of power. Hive needs a real detox and real freedom.
Thank you for the supportive comment @Regenerete. I certainly know that you understand this conflict all to well. Letās continue to UP our game, be authentic, caring, classy, and finding ways to build quality into everything we do. This is the way to be impeccable in the construction of our fundamental foundations within the wider community. We can do this... but as you know... itās going to take some chops to reason some sense into certain minds within this blockchain. We must continue to look for ways to evolve grow and bring others of Hive is to be a success and if we are to all win together irrespective of our differences. It all boils down to respect... and I know that you and I both have been feeling a lot less of that all important ingredient. Take heart and keep doing your best to bring authentic quality to this blockchain. We are working for a better more friendly Hive and thatās something worth the effort so long as we keep it classy. š

We all need a healthy environment to win... and so a friendlier Hive is worth talking openly about. š
@wil.metcalfe
This is kind of sad
It is sad isn't it... Imagine I invite my Twitter friend Paris Hilton to Hive... and I did right here š
Or maybe I invite my Twitter Friend Mark Moss...
What are those people going to think when they see people getting ādustedā with downvotes?
Identifying and dealing with bad behavior is important to Hiveās Integrity... but How we implement Hive security matters just as much to the marketability of Hive.
I have been doing my utmost to show Reese aka @guiltyparties (the person running @HiveWatchers & @Spaminator) this and that there are better ways to and processes that would actually improve the friendliness of Hive.
I donāt know if Iām reaching him... but Iām glad you took the time to read this post. I donāt want you to feel to low about the Hive Blockchain and itās current prospects...
Iām here continuing to step into the gaps and do my best to convince people... and thatās why I just launched the @Comet.Ranker! You can check it out here! Let me know what you think!
https://peakd.com/hive/@wil.metcalfe/launching-the-cometranker-service-cometweek
Being mentioned in the same comment with Paris Hilton just made my day. Yeah you reached me, I read your comments, just got to sit down and reply to the latest.
Think what you may... this is actually the sorts of things that are at stake. š
And also... this happened today. The Exodus Team retweeted my Tweet to over 53K followers within #Crypto TODAY!
What this means is there are plenty on eyes on the Hive Blockchain... and Iām not the only one busting moves every day for Hive... we have LOTS of people stepping into gaps and making good things happen.
PR and rapport matter... especially when considering we all have family, friends, and famous that are either already on the Hive Blockchain or are considering coming to this Blockchain... we absolutely can not afford to be thinking small thoughts.
Our social standing on and off the blockchain does matter...
Our reputation within the cryptosphere is standing on teetering legs because of thinking like how you are implementing.
I see what's going on here. It's not easy to have this conversation in comments although there's an update (inspired by your long comments) coming out shortly for hive.blog to help make it possible.
That does sound like one necessary step in the right direction. If we can make open dialogue possible (in the right place) then we can begin to evolve our processes in constructive and collective ways. Iām happy to hear that this is being prioritized. I believe itās critical. Thank you for listening to this aspect of my feedback. Knowing that people in key positions are actually listening... well this goes a long way towards building and maintaining whatās sacred and loved about our blockchain. If we can compound trust with open and candid talk and correctly table our concerns onchain as the incidents happen this is going to do amazing things for Hive.
Reese... I think that you can see by now... I have an undying passion and determination to see Hive and itās people succeed. I know that we can continue to do great things here on Hive TOGETHER!
I have come across in a very straightforward and expressive way and I have done it publicly... not because I want to rip you or anyone else down. Quite the contrary... I want to get real about lifting people UP and making this even more of a blockchain destination!
And I canāt do this alone and neither can you...
We gotta make sure that we are compounding the good things on this blockchain... itās like a garden... in a way it is!
If the healthy plants are strong and they stick together... thereās not much the weeds can do. Sure we gotta weed out those bad elements... but we really need to work on our processes for how we get that done or we are going to end up pulling up the wrong plants or pulling up the weeds and the good plants together! HOW is vital.
@wil.metcalfe
Hi Reese,
I realize that you have attempted to privately connect with me on Telegram and on Discord... however, I believe that innovating a friendlier Hive is something that every owner on this blockchain should have a chance to contribute to in at least a candid and open discussion... here on this blockchain.
Seeing as this isnāt just about how my account was treated but it is about how all of our accounts are being treated by the @HiveWatchers @HiveWatcher and more specifically @Spaminator accounts.
Speaking of which... I am wondering why, if open communication and honest and candid truthfulness is your goal... why is it that you have āignoredā my account? This seems counter productive donāt you think?
Keeping Hive a safe and thriving social environment should be defaulting to a higher and higher standard (thatās how we continue to innovate better ways to human isnāt it?) and this simply can not be done privately off to the side and out of the way in a back corner somewhere. This has got to be done openly... and you should be open to this as you are openly taking a position by ādustingā with downvotes everywhere you go.
We can bring the quality of Hiveās content UP (and the price of Hive will respond positively) but HOW we go about doing this does matter.
Things are pretty busy over here on my end... however! I have given you the respect of my time and attention and I expect the same.
I await your response,
Sincerely,
@wil.metcalfe
P.S. I noticed that you require people to apologize to the Hive community publicly for bad behaviour on the blockchain in the form of an official post from the offending account. Does this same standard also apply to you and the accounts you operate?
Wil, we'll have to connect one comment every few days if on chain. I'm on a project this week. The 'dust' is a warning. It's the preferred method vs nuking someone unannounced like others may do. The dust doesn't harm the chain and it gives people very early warning that something is off.
Yes, if I plagiarize and I get caught doing so I will have to write an apology.
I just checked your account @b0mbax! Your new! Welcome to Hive! I'm here to be honest... candid is the best way to improve... But I want to also encourage you! There are lots of good people doing good things here! If you ever need someone in your corner or you got some questions about Hive please feel free to ping me! I'm here to stickUP for the new people at every opportunity! š
without smts hive cant be a big thing. 1 token means 1 major opinion and everything else is wrong.
Think about politics. It would end up in Flag wars 2.0
We gotta stop all the internal fighting... come together and realize the answers are all right here... and we should spend that energy promoting externally! But we got to clean this thinkingUP first... Hive isn't really marketable if we don't take these sort of practices seriously.
Thank you for your comment here. It's given me pause to think... You might just be on to something!
This whole right-itis is unsophisticated from the start. There are absolutes! Yes! But most of what us humans are dealing with doesn't fall into that category. We are dealing with the relative. It's time for us to all to mature in our thinking rather than seeking confirmation (bias) we need to seek understanding instead.
Hive is in alpha IMO, I ignore all things for personal use I don't like and point it out non-stop.
Like the converting fee is my enemies today. I don't like the 5% fee from Hive to HBD.
I would already build my own platform on top of hive, but I would need Smts for it and Tokens that can be listed on exchanges.
Hive engine tokens are impossible to list. This makes then for every bigger project useless.
I am also interested in looking more into this. I have had some negative experiences and did some investigation a few months ago. I tried to look into getting some heads together to discuss what is happening. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one and if others are going to pursue this further, I would like to be involved as well.
Unfortunately, I'm on my way out the door as I see this post and thread, so I have reposted on my account for looking into more this eventing when I can get back to it.
I have built this fortress of words... because I know that there are small accounts and new ones as well who, through no fault of their own, have made it onto the unfriendlies downvote ādustingā list.
If myself, and you as well, both larger accounts here on Hive can be labeled (or is it actually libelled?!) like this... and with no formal apology and policy/practice accountability... then we know for sure that unfriendly practices like this are effecting and will effect everyone.
Rather than providing a credible and transparent service that compounds trust on the blockchain... these people think they have oversight over the owners of Hive...
Thank you for taking my words seriously and adding your voice to the other comments in this post!
I appreciate the reblog and the decision to come back for a careful read. Make sure you check out the comments as well as thatās where you really find out whatās happening on OUR Blockchain.
Thank you so much for the support!
Followed! š
@wil.metcalfe
Same. I also get downvotes
Auto downvotes @bigmike420? Have they given you a reason for it? Was there any leadUP?
I am in the same boat.
Britt! You canāt be serious? How is this even possible? I donāt know anyone (other than perhaps @nathanmars and a few others) who are bending over backwards more for Hive than you are and have been all of these years! Truly you are one of the friendliest people here on Hive!!!! How can this even be possible?! What has happened to this place? And what has happened to you?
Is everything ok?!
What can I do to support you right now?
HW is a cancer to the blockchain
I believe so as well... at least in its current state and perhaps with the minds behind it. Can this failed project be reformed? I hope so... but seeing their current proposal go live and get accepted by the community has me concerned. Not just a little... A LOT!
They make coins when they flag you, I see it lot š you are not one user what this problem. And lot big users close there eyes... what means they hands are also in this.
P.S. If you would like to read about how we could keep Hive and itās community of owners clean from all the elements that will bring it harm (Like spam, fraud, identity theft, malicious downvoting, and plagiarism, etc.) I have contributed to @theycallmedanās recent post down in the comments.
There you can read about, how we could make use of our DPOS to collectively do this as a community. Within the comments others have also brought forward even more detailed and already proven ways that other networks are handling the same problems from the groundUP through the use of a randomized jury.
I sincerely think that the answer is within leveraging DPOS and having the solution baked right into the blockchain... this gives our stake something good to do... and it also avoids all the pitfalls of having a central player (whoās human) responsible for something so critical to the blockchains integrity and marketability.
https://ecency.com/hive/@theycallmedan/a-bit-of-a-rant
šHereās the post about that! Let me know what you think!
This is what happened to me when I was in their Discord awhile back. So I made it a memory!
So...
So did they make an error in judgement?! I see you have a pretty great reputation score... so now Iām curious!
I was flagged for plagiarism by some idiot that didn't notice the link to the picture I posted, which is the click image to source function.
I go to the discord and start asking questions on who runs the joint. I ask and ask, no response other than getting asked who I was. I don't change my discord name to match here because frankly @hivewatchers and @spaminator are human controlled. Not algorithmic therefore subject to human emotion when dealing out the stated goals.
If I prod you enough and you the police, I bet you gonna whack me till I dead. So I don't trust self appointed dictators. That's what it is. An organisation that has been mentally created by a human (Stalin was a human, so was Hitler. Am a fucking human.) who are all emotionally easily manipulated. No one is infallible to this human trait. Ask Jordan Peterson. One person I can think of that has qouted numerous other head doctors in history.
So yes. These bitches boot me. Ban me. I avoid them like a plague. I don't trust their judgment because no one is infallible.
Social platforms are rife with all kinds of head fuckers, these guys could be one of them.
Reading how they respond they even sound like they are some kind of government like thought police in my thinking. My crazy haired thought here. Purely speculating.
But I can say this with certainty I don't trust em. Too much power in too little time with noone to answer to. They all like Pontius Pilate washing their butts on the water people are drinking from.
Ohhhh damn! See... this is the failure at due process I have been talking about! The WAY they are implementing this is worse than what they are treating... In fact, itās the classic tale about the medicine the doctor gives his patient being worse than the disease itās self that he is treating. I canāt believe the number of these sorts of incidents that have been happening... are the likes of @HiveWatchers @HiveWatcher and @Spaminator going to be held to the same standard they have been holding (in many cases falsely!) over the owners on this blockchain? Personally... I donāt think they are fit for this role... and this is the sort of thing that needs to be dealt with at a code level WITHIN THE ACTUAL BLOCKCHAIN... all human efforts to police this sort of thing are only going to bring out whatās worst about people... and we donāt want something like this to play out in our home and on our blockchain. Itās disgusting and needs to be seen for what it is... and shut down Iām an adamant about this and I will not back down.
So yes... I can completely understand why you are angry. You and a growing crowd of accounts are beginning to get vocal about this... just like I am.
Yeah I'm really not sure what that's all about. But you definitely summed it up very straightforward and as about correctly as anyone could put it. I agree with you it's definitely know way to be or go about being. But goes to show exactly what we're all up against and facing going forward in a world that just isn't really the same anymore. I'm I guess you would say sorta new to Blockchain for sure and diffently to this form of social media in where I've even went about beginning a new blog myself ruffle 3 or 4 months ago stated just this exact sorta thing that seems to becoming a new norm to life in a sense. Thing's just are not the same anymore and not just so much that as they are more maybe just strange altogether. And after reading your work seeing how I haven't been the most consistent in keeping up with my own work in my today blog I believe it's time to get back to it. It's a blog called today and it's where I guess we all can go and try and figure this exact sorta thing out. Granted I've really gotta do a better job at really getting it going fully and for sure being more consistent with keeping up with keeping it going. This just reminds me of why I really began going about wanting to do it to begin with.
First of all! By the sounds of it, your someone shiny and new to our beloved blockchain! Welcome! š
A lot of people want to hide the problems inherently inside of every opportunity. Not I. I want to constructively address them and find ways to levelUP the way everyone is thinking about the problem(s).
And in this situation... (and others like it on the blockchain) thereās been a lot of glass thatās been broken. As a community of owners we need to take ownership and do our part to cleanUP the glass and innovate better ways to handle things in the future.
We really do want the new peopleās experiences to be wonderful! They (you!) found your way here... and we sooooooooo think thatās AMAZING! There isnāt even a way we can value that because itās invaluable!
So things like this have got to... absolutely got to change... and at a cultural level!
It canāt stay this way if we are to grow and bring more amazing people here.
A friendly Hive is fundamental.
So yes... I address the problems directly... I attempt to give feedback and ideas for how we can do things better...
And I do it for a warm and welcoming Hive Blockchain!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and reply! š
This is so pathetic, it looks as if all our effort are in vain.
Not if I can help it! This place is FULL of freedom fighters! Itās absolutely the most foolish place to behave badly if you ask me! š
Hereās my official counter to what these unfriendly people and their accounts are doing here on Hive!
Iām calling it @Comet.Ranker!
https://ecency.com/hive/@wil.metcalfe/launching-the-cometranker-service-cometweek
Hivewatchers are an annoying, self righteous bunch.
But I can understand how they ended up that way after seeing hundreds of posts like the one above.
More often than not, people know exactly for what they ended up on their lists, but decide to try the public shaming approach about how this is not about themselves, but all the poor noobs out there and how bad of a light this shines on Hive and the whole litany.
We all have seen this before. It is annoying.
Get over yourself.
Honestly... this isnāt about me at all. I donāt have anything to worry about... other than actual miss-handling of incidences from start to finish.
If you take the time to read through the comments and my responses you will hopefully see the bigger picture.
Dealing with the minutiae of Hive Integrity means you have to zoom right in...
But itās when you zoom out that the bigger picture for Hive and itās overall well-being become quite apparent.
An intelligent response to bad behaviour is going to require the right people to zoom in AND zoom out at the same time.
This is the way forward for Hive...
And what Iām seeing from @HiveWatchers @HiveWatcher @Spaminator and @GuiltyParties isnāt it.
Not by a long shot.
We need a friendly Hive thatās still got a shred of marketability left in it.
I have now read some comments and it seems that you have been reward-farming with comments.
I have seen the exact same story countless times before.
You are not the first to try this strategy of deflection and to try and make it about Hive at large, while this was clearly just about your own misbehavior.
There will always be a need for a service like Hivewatchers. It seems that in the process, the people operating it will inevitably let their arrogance take over, just like @logic.
However, your weak attempt at getting back at them just makes me laugh.

This is sad
You were repeatedly reported by the people you commented on for comment farming. I didn't want to start commenting on this in detail publicly because I know it's shitty as hell to find out the people you're engaging with are the ones reporting you. We'll talk about it when you're back.
That being said, everyone gets processed fairly and evenly. When I took over Spaminator and joined Hivewatchers (then Steemcleaners) there was a lot of favoritism. That's done with now. No one can manipulate, threaten, curry favors, or do anything else to change how the process works. Nothing. The project treats all users as equal human beings irrespective of their stake, of who they are, of how likable they are, or anything else.
That being said, criticism of all projects is needed on Hive. Even projects I run. That's how decentralization and accountability works. Feedback always welcome. But the above will always stand. The pillar of open communication and the pillar of equal treatment are constants for both Hivewatchers and Spaminator.
