My Introduceyourself post, finally, my apologies for the delay

Anarcho/capitalist, voluntaryist, libertarian follower of Christ.....Say What?

View Looking Out

This is the view looking outside our store……looking out on the world. You can see my wife Deb’s head in the bottom right. This is lately where I have been spending my time. I would compare this to me reading posts on Steemit. I am taking in the world outside of me. I am reminded of a scene in “Howl’s Moving Castle” an anime movie by Studio Ghibli. The scene depicts an elderly woman in a rocking chair by the ocean and she says something about “just sitting and watching when she grows old.”(please forgive me if there are any fans of this movie if I misrepresent what I remember as it has been a while since I’ve seen it) Although I am only 58, I enjoy looking out of this window and watching the world go by.

View Looking In

This is the view looking into our store…..representing looking into my mind, or what I hope to achieve in my posts. My wife, Deb is inside waving to me. She is also the artist that drew my caricature sketch.

I would characterize myself as an introvert, someone who has anxiety in new social situations, but who is comfortable around friends that I have come to know.

I am an avid reader and I’ve always wanted to write, but I have never taken the time to write, probably because I have a science background and did not spend much time with literature in college or growing up. As an introvert I am more of an observer and rather than speak I will observe and keep what could be spoken…unspoken. Those words/thoughts/observations are up there somewhere and I hope to use this Steemit platform to get some of those things down.

I am above all a follower of Christ. I’ve been a believer for about 10 years. I don’t think I can pinpoint a day that I became a believer, it was just a slow process as I thought things out. I have a hard time saying that I am a Christian as there are to many people who think a Christian is more than a follower of Christ. It is also my hope that all posts and comments that I make would give glory to God, hence my frequent signature of SDG

Soli Deo gloria, as a doctrine, it means that everything that is done is for God's glory to the exclusion of mankind's self-glorification and pride. Christians are to be motivated and inspired by God's glory and not their own.

(I hope to make that statement clearer in my future posts)

I would not consider myself a “Bible thumper”, a pejorative term for someone that beats you up alongside the head with their Bible, in the belief that such thumping will cause you to see the light. I believe the gift from God(my Savior and King, Jesus Christ) is freely given and needs to be accepted freely. I will humbly post my thoughts, my experiences, my beliefs in what I hope to be perceived as non threatening. I would hope that something I write that may offend someone would be brought to my attention in comments and if a resolution cannot be achieved that we part ways amicably. If I come across a post that I believe is objectionable I may comment on it to try and come to an understanding and if we can't come to an agreement I will just move on. It is my hope that I never offend someone to the degree that they would flag something I wrote or commented on.

1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; (emphasis mine)

Anarcho/Capitalist libertarian Follower of Christ...Say What?

I would also consider myself as libertarian (not capital L)(probably had those thoughts, although I didn’t know the term, when I was about 10, about the time that I rebelled when my step-dad insisted that my mom wanted my haircut to be butched, when I usually just got a regular men's cut.... That was the last time I cut my hair until 4th yr of college) and an anarchist. My definition of anarchy is no "earthly" ruler. To all the anarchy members out there I hope that jives with you all. I hope that this Steemit platform will continue uncensored, and that if there are any disagreements that they can be solved by dialog and in a civil manner.

I am looking forward to interacting with people from other countries, already following, Lithuanian, Filipino, Russian, Korean, Turkish Steemers and I've used Google translate to try and communicate on posts that have not been english.

I have 2 adult children (is that an oxymoron?) 1 girl and 1 boy, who is expecting my first granddaughter in September, 3 cats and soon to be 1 dog.

This is probably way to long and I could keep writing, I hope it sounds semi-coherent.

I am a man who has truly been blessed and truly in the Lord I trust.

Psalms 34:8
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

I would also like to thank @papa-pepper for all the posts and advice that he has given, not expecting any repayment, but being blessed by knowing he has helped someone. He truly exemplifies the "Golden Rule," Please consider following him.
I still have to try and figure out steemit chat so he can get my address to send me some chinese noodle bean seeds.

Luke 10:27
So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

Also @rebeccaryan who was most generous with her time spent with a young minnow, as I am sure she does with all the other minnows that swim by her, in the streams of 0's and 1's that electronically zip across the "Steemiverse" of Steemit.

Your welcome, my wife is the artist, I'm just her critic. : )

Congratulations on writing your "introduce yourself post"! It reads wonderfully.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
@sighmanjestah, you look like an accomplished Pharmacist, is that what your science background is in?

Yes it is, I would consider myself an enlightened pharmacist. Semi retired, basically due to economic reasons, not sure if I will keep my license. I maybe would have kept going if Iowa would have done something with MMJ but they are so backward. Iowa has had the ok for MMJ For a few years but nothing in place to allow people access. It looks like actual pharmacies will dispense but only so many and high application non- refundable fees and then there is the issue of supply and only so many growers. Ok , you opened up a can of worms. I'll stop. Thanks again for all you do

Oh my goodness, you are more than welcome. Is your shop a pharmacy and a Christian store?
I'm so sorry to learn this about medical cannabis in Iowa. The plant can do so much good for both people and animals. We so disparately need people who have the knowledge to help people integrate the plant medicine into their lives. One of the hardest pieces is to understand how cannabis will interact with other prescription drugs. We need so much help in this department. No one seems to know or is willing to share what they think. Most times I feel like those folks on multiple meds are left to their own devices when they want to try cannabis.

It definitely could be a challenge. The pharmacy I started in 1982, and about 2 years ago I just got tired of filling someone's prescription and not even being reimbursed for the cost of the medicine. i.e. Something costs me $100. I fill the script and it runs through the insurance, and the insurance company reimburses me $96 and that doesn't even cover my overhead let alone a profit. It's a big business thing. Really just crony capitalism. So 2 yrs ago I stopped taking insurance and lost about 75% of my customers. I saw the writing on the wall and since pharmacy was my passion I hung on longer than I should have.
Anyhow I totally quit December 31, 2016 went on an extended vacation and we decided to do the Christian gift store/book store/nutritional combo. We have a small town, so not sure how it's gonna go, but if we can make some passive income we will do fine.
Re the cannabis thing, if I wouldn't have to go back to school, I could see going into research, but it is such a political thing. Which is why I feel sorry for you and having to get your grow permit.

Well, I wasn't forced to grow, but wanted to, just so I could have some control over the strains I can ingest and how the plants are cared for.
I was diagnosed with MS in 2004. Never went on any pharmaceuticals. I had a few episodes then found out about cannabis, started eating it, drastically changed my eating lifestyle and I haven't had an attack since.
I suspect an aggressive strain or strains of gut bacteria as the root cause.
I wonder if you could start an on-line cannabis consulting business. There are so many people with multiple prescriptions and no one really knows how cannabis will interact with them. I normally suggest that people should put 4 hours between when they take their prescriptions and use cannabis. There's no guidance being offered. It's the same with other medications for pain. There is no guidance for a person to ween off their pain med cocktails and switch to cannabis. People are just muddling along on their own. This concerns me greatly.

I can see that it would be a concern for many people. The thing that I'd be doing is working for getting rid of as many pharmaceuticals as possible. The other thing is that the pharmaceutical companies have the research dollars and that's probably not a high priority.
So would you say your diet was pretty clean, unprocessed foods. The reason I ask is. Because there is a doctor from Iowa city that got ms and she developed a pretty rigid protocol and was able to Cure her ms. I bought her book to share with a ms customer. I'll have to look it up, it just seemed like such an extremely rigid diet.

Yes. It was fairly clean...I was eating low carb and working to keep my blood sugar levels more consistent but it wasn't until I gave up all grains, rice and a lot of startchy foods that I really felt that my system stabilized. I have been following Dr. Wahls protocol and have read her books.
It is very regimented but my eye sight and my ability to walk are more important to me than being able to eat bread and pasta. ;)

http://terrywahls.com The wahls protocol. Have you heard of it?

Yes. I have been following her guidance since 2011. Between cannabis and healing my gut lining, plus keeping it healthy by not eating foods that damage it, I've been able to slow down the disease process.

Hello and welcome to Steemit! :)
I wish you great time and tons of great posts!
Best,
@velimir

Thanks for the welcome @velimir you look to have a very nice blog. One of the things that is just so amazing about this platform Steemit is the access to a variety of people. are you familiar with I'll get back to you I can't find the post.

It is a fantastic platform, isn't it?
If you want to find someone later, the best way is to press follow button on their profile.
Cheers,
@velimir

Nice intro. Already following and upvoted.

Thanks @goatgarden you look to be active as well. I need to check out your wife's @clickinchicken? I also want to get my wife set up, but she is computerphobic.

I held her favorite chicken hostage and made her join. 😜 We are both a little non tech, but we find steemit is worth the learning curve. One week in and we are consumed by it.

That's so funny, my wife is currently working on an old wooden ironing board, painting a rooster.
I am enjoying this as well, and was fearful that I may become obsessed to the point of not going outside(I'm not fortunate to have an acreage ), but I find that I can walk away from the computer no problem.

Welcome to Steemit @sighmanjestah hope you have a good time here!

Great work!

A good friend of mine once made the point that Christianity is simply a voluntary contract with God. I think that's a great way of laying it out for the voluntaryists out there that have this view that it's somehow slavery to a ruler.
At a much less important level, people sign a voluntary contract with a business as an employee to be ruled. That's their choice. That's their right. On a much larger level when it comes to life in general, there is nothing coercive about a voluntary contract with God if that is how you feel.

Happy to Upvote & Follow! :)

Thank you @joshsigurdson I like this;

Exactly, it is voluntary.

This is why I put the "Bible Thumper" part in my post. I was exposed to a step grandmother who was one of those. In looking back I believe she meant well, but my take on it was that if that's what a "Christian" is, I don't want any part of it. That was when I was 15 or 16 I think. It took me 30 some years to come to a true realization of what a follower of Christ is, and I am just as surprised that I am now a follower. Thanks for your insight.

Welcome to Steemit Brother! Really liked your intro. Pappa-Pepper is a great encourager with all of his helpful posts. Look forward to your blogs :) Already following :)

Thank you @fg4jesus, following you as well.
