Today we want to talk more in detail about the returns you will see when you allow us to use your vote. To put it in the simplest terms, allowing Minnowbooster to use your vote, turns you into a Minnowbooster!
You get the benefits of being an upvote bot without having to do any programming!
Allowing us to use your Voting Power gives us the opportunity to conserve some of Minnowbooster's Voting Power, and thus, we can accommodate more requests with better upvotes!
So here's what's in it for you. We'll use some easy to work with numbers but you can escalate these to fit your specific voting situation.
- @someminnow sends $1.00 SBD to Minnowbooster, calling for an Upvote of $2.50 on their Post "How to Minnow like a Boss"
- Minnowbooster goes through its database and finds @imawhale set to sell their vote valued at $2.50. We use its vote to upvote the "How to Minnow like a Boss" post for @someminnow.
- 75% of the fee paid by @someminnow ($0.75), is added to @imawhale's Minnowbooster wallet from the $1.00 which @someminnow sent in as compensation for using the upvote.
- @imawhale also earns curation awards for its upvote of up to 25%, or potentially an additional $0.62 in curation.
Movember Special
Here's the good news ... as an added perk, for the entire month of Movember, We are Increasing the Vote Seller's take on the Boost from 75% to 80%, so if you sign up now, or are already part of the program, in the scenario above you would be reimbursed $0.80 instead of $0.75 for the entire month of November.
The more people who sign up to sell their vote through Minnowbooster, the less the facilitation percentage will be. We hope to have enough people signed up by the end of November to stay at the 80% rate, or even move to our ultimate goal of 85% of the Boost payment going to the Vote Seller, while Minnowbooster simply retains 15% facilitation fee.
Here's the breakdown of when the Minnowbooster percentages will drop, and by how much. All numbers are based on the number of additional Boosters we can support.
We are currently at 20% over what the Minnowbooster vote could do on its own, after just a few weeks of running the servi. The more people who join in, the bigger cut each seller receives for their vote!
Additional info:
- You will always have the option to reduce or even shut off the ability of Minnowbooster to use your vote at any time in your Minnowbooster Dashboard.
- We recommend a threshold of 95% or lower so that you are always able to take advantage of your excess voting power.
- If you anticipate doing a lot of manual curation, you can turn off the service at any time.
- Conversely, if you are going on vacation and will not be able to curate at all, you can take the slider down as low as you like and we will do all the voting for you.

Updated Terms of Service
Minnowbooster takes Boost Abuse very Seriously. Abusers be warned, a new policy is being put in place and if you continue to upvote content that violates our TOS, we will be removing your upvote and declining a refund payout.
What constitutes abuse of @minnowbooster?
- Using multiple accounts to post duplicate content and purchasing MB upvotes for all of them.
- Same goes for using multiple accounts to post low quality content just to farm Minnowbooster for profits
- Upvoting posts with MB that are written in a copy / paste style.
- Using a MB vote for very short or repetitive content.
- Length is subjective, but 150 words is a good safe guideline, however original art, photography, video and animations will be exempt from the 150 word guideline.
- Think about the content you are upvoting and decide based on the criteria we have laid out.
What is @minnowbooster's new policy in dealing with abuse?
Users who violate our TOS regarding upvotes will face the following consequences:
1.) Your post will be unvoted by Minnowbooster
2.) You will not receive a refund for the original upvote.

Hmm well it's actually good for those who have a good worth of their upvote. As a minnow it's little hard to benefit from it :)
Your vote is worth 20 cents, so you can profit from this easily. Once your 100% vote hits the 1 cent mark you can profit from it like the big guys.
But we don't see any calculations as to how much one can get with a 20 cents upvote power.
Probably 1 SBD per day or more. The calculation is in the post :)

So: your 20 cent vote can be used for a 10 cent send. And from that you earn 8 cent per 100% vote. That is 80 cent per day. And then add curation rewards to it and you go to 1 sbd per day.

What do I do to join ? I'm a novice here
Damn. That's a lot of fee your getting in return of your upvote. That's highly profitable if you don't vote that often. This is particularly nice for whales. But how about minnows. Their vote is worth up for $0.15 cents.
Do you also let minnows vote in a bath. So in this scenario you have around 16 minnows voting for each 0.15 cents which is equal to $2.50.

Well all sellers get the lower fee, regardless of being minnow or whale :)

Selling your vote is giving you a big return and as long as your vote is worth 1 cent or more, your are eligible :)

No it is so minnowbooster can squeeze out more money in curation, Has nothing to do with other people voting first. It is a decision based solely off of monetary gain.
Yeah sure :) That is why we offer an api for you to frontrun us. And that is why we delay till 15 minutes and not 30 minutes. And that is why there is soo much demand for upvotes?
You both make good points. However, at the end of the day this should purely be about the customer and in most cases the customer is not sophisticated enough to use your api to front run MB votes, nor do they want to spend the time. They want to pay for a vote on their post and have that payment be profitable for them.
In general, the customer wants to use a service that offers a decent return on their upfront investment, an investment that can easily turn negative if the price of steem drops over the next 7 days.
The bottom line is the more you squeeze the customer the more likely they are to go away and then this whole service falls apart because at the end of the day if people aren't sending you guys money, there is no service.
Keep it as profitable as possible for the customer and everything else should come secondary. Especially from a service that is being sponsored by Steemit.inc.

I have a problem with a delegation that has run it's course but the negative delegation is still being charged to my SP. How do I fix that?
My response to this would be, when has a $1 SBD ever returned a $2.50 upvote?
From my observations a $5 payment earns about a $7.70 reward, or about a 50% premium on what is paid, not 150% like you used in your example.
It all depends on the voting power of the bot :)
From my observations that voting power must stay in a pretty similar range, or you guys adjust the percentage accordingly, because in general a $5 SBD payment tends to yield around a $7.70 vote just about every time with only slight variations in either direction.
Which is a solid return for the customer, if they do it right at the 1 minute mark. If they get the vote at the 30 minute mark or later that $7.70 vote loses 25% to curators. So, instead of paying $5 to get $7.70, it becomes paying $5 to get $5.80. Which is a pretty slim profit margin for the customer.
Then if the price of steem goes down at all over the next 7 days, fooogetaboutit
Well, demand was so high the last days that were were constantly at 57% and sold out. But with our now lowered limits, the voting power is rising. And do you factor in the refund we give you?
No, but the refund is pennies. I saw refunds on $10 sbd payments of pennies, and that is about it.
Regardless, the numbers I posted still are in the ballpark of what one should expect to receive using your service.

This second a vote that give 7.7 SBD and 70 cents refunds, meaning 5 SBD got that users $9.30 in upvote, not bad imo
Yes, and with the price of steem falling, it is making things more difficult as well. If the price of steem were to go up, you could distribute the same dollar mount of rewards while using less voting power.
Which means.... we need to get that price of steem up! ;)
Also not taken into account here is the price of steem. As steem falls, it takes a higher percentage vote to achieve the same dollar amount. When the prices were slightly higher it used less of your voting power to yield the same rewards. As prices have been falling down under a dollar as of late, it means you guys have had to up the voting power percentage to keep rewards similar.
Exactly. That is something we have to account for. But nothing we can prevent.

Hello, I am new but have been very active. This will probably be a bit complicated as steem has many featurees and to understand MB in detail you need to understand steem.
Basically: You have 10 votes each day. And if you give us some of your votes, we pay you. It costs nothing, but the more steem power you have the more we pay you.
In my wallet the categories are steem, steem power, steem dollars, savings and estimated account value. From which of these categories would I be donating to you in exchange for your help? Thanks!
From none of these :) That is the beauty of it. There is a voting power, that steemit does not really show and that is what you sell. It regenerates every day.
I see. You know, you said we get to vote 10 times a day. Do you mean voting stuff up? I think on some days I have been voting different posts up way more than 10 times---not the same posts but like 20 different posts...or more. Why doesn't my ability to vote up get blocked after ten times in a day? I am willing to donate some of my upvote power or allotment to you to try this on a short term basis to see if it helps me. How do I transfer some of my voting power to you to try this? My account balances in my wallet are very small at this point. If this doesn't help me it would be a bummer because I have worked VERY hard at this so far and have spent LOTS of time on steemit this month. Thank you!
The voting power calculations are a bit complex, but essentially you have a buffer of roughly 5 days. So if you vote a lot each vote slowly gets worth a small bit less. And over time that recovers.
Basically, you can vote 20 times but each vote is only half the worth of when you only vote 10 times.
And Minnowbooster uses your voting power when your buffer is overflowing. At the top of this post is a primer that explains in detail how to sell your vote :)

Also, under steam power in my wallet there are two amounts. There is an amount on top and then under that amount there is a larger amount in parenthesis. If you need a 2.5$ upvote you search for a 2.5$ upvote and not for example for a 2$ and a 0.5$ upvote. Or am I wrong?
In that case a minnows vote won't be used I think.
