HOW TO HAVE MONEY

in #money7 years ago

This one is simple, but it can take a lot to actually understand and apply it.

For most of us, we will never be incredibly wealthy, nor will we be amazingly poor. Somewhere, in the middle of all of this, most of us find ourselves. Some of us will have money, while others will be continually broke. There is one simple observation that I've made that may play a bigger role that we would think.

'MO MONEY, or NO MONEY

Have you ever noticed how many "average" people do things like win the lottery, become a sports star, inherit some money, or get a nice raise or bonus, and then wind up completely broke? Have you ever seen people who live "paycheck to paycheck" and then get raises, and still live paycheck to paycheck? Yeah, it happens all the time.

If you think about it for a minute, I'm sure that you can think of some examples of people who suddenly came into some money. A very, very common thing for people to do when they have some money is to act like they have some money. Trust me, you cannot have money and act like it for very long, if you still want to have money. The money will run out.

This is why people who suddenly become "rich" suddenly are no longer rich anymore.

I was never much for saving money before. I lived paycheck to paycheck and managed to spend whatever I made. Far enough in my past, it was all drugs and alcohol, but even after those days, it was always spent on something. Eventually, after marrying @mama-pepper, she encouraged me to begin to save some of our money. After a while, we began to have a nice little savings.

Shortly after we had some spare money saved up, we had some things that we wanted to purchase. I told her that we could not afford the things, because we did not have enough money. At the time, she said, "Well what about the savings?" She wondered why we would act like we didn't have enough money to purchase certain things when we obviously did have the money.

I learned an important lesson at this point in my life.

If you act like you have money, you won't.

It was really that simple. If we put aside money, and acted like we did not have it, then we would still have it. If we acted like we had, that would mean spending it, and then we wouldn't have it. I guess that may be the simplest thing to understand when you are trying to save.

Each time you spend money to act like you have lots of money you have less. Eventually it runs out. This is why people who have made millions in just a few years file bankruptcy.

There was a time this really helped me and made a lasting impact on my life. Hopefully it'll give some of you something to think about.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Good thoughts...:)...

I've only skimmed over this one... but I can tell that I agree with the sentiment...

If you act like you have money, you won't.

Amen!

The fact that you have actually said it is the truth because you talked about economic economic loss, why we lose our image for so much economic country, if the economy decreases, then there will be no image of the country, economic multi-precious economic Everything is left with nothing, so if the economic growth increases the image of the country I think you are right, I agree with you, because economies are economical without a meaningful economy, as many countries have seen economic reasons for this because meaning is everything in life, not just for me but for all the world's people, so I think the economy BADA is important because everything will be better if the economy increases, as if the economy increases in the purchase business I think everything will be good to read or it will be good, so I think the economy is going to come and everything is going on with economics because nothing goes without the economy. It is the right thing to say that I have accepted the word and I can not accept it because you have said exactly your words I feel character because you did not completely say that it was very good to hear me and I want it all Let's see that Paradise is so japi is right because it is just right to say that economy is a thing that you think does not mean you do not have money but you are meaningless, that means everything is available, nothing is wrong in the life, happiness is available. There is no peace, and peace is available in the economy, but we waste money in other sectors in other sectors We are destitute, so we want to say that we have not spent any other work in this study, but hopefully everyone will agree that whatever meaning is such a thing that nothing will be without meaning, so I want to say that everyone will hope to get everyone Thanks, my dear friend, thank you so much for congratulating you for this beautiful comic. I hope you again want to do this. Comments about St and re-do the interview with us that I want to do an interview with you, because it is a benefit for us

If you act like you have money, you won't. Good tips my grandfather still tell me if someone ask you if you have enough money always say No, because it's the only way for you to save them, the same tip you suggest us!

Mate, I think that critter has stopped eating your seedlings and started nibbling $5 bills......

Because when you feel like you have, you will be propel to act like you have, via by spending the like you had

very good advise! forget about your savings, and just let them pile up. This day many want things right away, and use credit to buy it, thus spending 2-3x the amount in the long run.

I only learned recently that saving matters. Gosh, this is the only advice I needed right now. I wish I would have known this earlier!

acted like we did not have it, then we would still have it.

Very big fact.
The title got to me....
How to have money... 💰
Everyone wants to have money.
And sometimes, it feels pretty good to act like you really have money but you're right.
If you act like you don't have money, then you will have it still....
Many times, I've acted like I really had money and I ended up not having money.

Thanks much for the lesson.
Very well received.

Money is funny!

In order to have it, you must have not spent it; you can not spend it for many years, but as soon as it is spent you no longer have it saved.

What is money good for anyway? Its only good for what you can spend it on!

Since dollar cash is based on whimsical government promises, the perverse incentive is that the longer you save the less it is worth!

Most of the paradoxes run and hide when you start talking about value instead of money, but who wants a world without paradoxes ;p

May the Lord's Abundance be ever with you, however much your money happens to be worth!

You can save money and then invest it, so that it generates more money. And if you have saved and invested enough, that its generated interest can be spent without spending the savings. Thus it would be possible to both spend the money, and still have it saved.

This made a lot of sence.

But people shouldn't take it too far to be stingy to themselves, please...

That's right, don't be stingy!

So true and reading your post make me think like I wrote it. I got to thank my wife as I'm sure you do yours. Past was not great and utterly dumb ish at times but we found love and learned. Great post man.....

This is a great post with a really good lesson. I will try to put it into practice so that I can save some money

It really is easy to "have" money you just need to start acting like you want extra money. I am sure everyone has a few things they could cut out of their day to day lives and put into savings or create something themselves instead of buying it. We are all unique and have something unique to offer which can make you more money on the side here on steemit and perhaps as your own small business or full time business. What really separates those from the haves and have nots is action. Do something about it right now this very moment.

Money, everybody wants it. I'm not an exception but most of the time, the cause of poverty isn't always lack of money but lack of financial mentality. Thanks for your financial advice @papa-pepper. Have a wonderful week.

wow all credit to you because i have gotten the tactics @papa-peppper.

me parece muy interesante su pots, soy venezolano, espero contar con su apoyo ya que ando buscabdo una mejor forma de vida, seguinos en contacto sabre agradecer su ayuda ando buscando buenas amistades .gracias y buen dia-

That's the bitter truth, thanks for nailing it! A lot of people are too much accustomed to not wanting to hear of it because it hurts. Thinking of a sustainable future can help a lot, responsibilities like marriage, children can be a motivating factor or a down turn depending on the person in question. In your case, i'm glad that it motivates.

Much love @papa-pepper!!!

Come and teach me how to make money on steemit am the new kid on steemit

this may be a very rich person who tore up money like this.

People make their lives fit their income but rarely do they attempt to make their income fit their lifestyles.

Which is why most people who are poor remain poor, while people who are wealthy remain healthy and why people who suddenly get money end up being where they were before rather quickly.

It takes a deep understanding as for why we do what we do the way we do in order to break out of that.

I have no money... really don't have it but debt, mo debt. no debt and no money. Furthermore, I live from paycheck to paycheck.

You are very sir @papa-pepper if we are acting as if we have all the money in the world, that will definitely make us spend more than we actually budget and that is not a good sign, cause as time goes on, we will be spending more which will drain the account. Thanks for reminding us.
'Blessings'

This so true! People still have the desire to spend the money because they feel they need to live better, keep up with neighbours, friends or family or perhaps they are missing out on that feeling of happiness without the need for many physical things. I am quite happy without being surrounded by oodles of material things. I don't need things to be happy. I have all I need in relationships with family and friends, and life experiences. If you need lots of material things you need a place to store them and soon you outgrow your space and need more. You are never happy or at peace. You need sufficient money to be comfortable. More than that is just a waste (IMHO)

Wow. Thou dost wax exceedingly philosophical today, my friend.

all very true, and good advice.

Maybe this is part of the reason The Good Book says it is "THE LOVE of money" that is the root of all evil, and not money itself.

Hello, papa-pepper. I agree with your advice and experience, but it is valid in a solid economy. In the case of Venezuela with the highest hyperinflation in the world, it is not practical or advisable to save, because money loses its value very quickly. Greetings from Venezuela.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if a person's perception of the value of money influences their savings habits regardless of the economic state of their country.

Want to double your money holdings? Fold it in half and stick it back in the pocket ;-)

There is a difference between being frugal and cheap, I like to expand my thinking and see just how many uses I can get for every item I have.

I see so many people throw away so much that is still useful I enjoy watching you save it.
It gives me hope for the future knowing there are a few still in the world like you...

Thank you so much for that!

This is great. I've really learnt from this.
Thanks @papa-pepper.
I wish you could give me two 50$ notes...lol

That was a big note to be ripping up, you are acting real rich there Papa.
we have tried to save the money for an object [new fridge, stove etc] them gone in and paid cash for it.
There isn't much sense in being the richest bloke in the cemetery.

Yet the success books all tell us to act like we are rich and it will happen! It is so sad see the unhappy rich people who have everything money can buy, yet take their own lives because money did not fill the God shaped void in their hearts!

Thanks for your healthy perspective on money!

Most rich people do not act like rich people you see in social media. A truth not many see.

This is really good advice for people who want to be responsible, Papa Pepper. I am not one of those people. I can help people save money, I can show them how to keep money, but I can't hold on to money at all. I have money then I spend money. I'll take people out to eat. I'll buy silly stuff just to be silly with. I'll give it to people if they are in need of it at the moment. I'm usually broke but I'm always happy. Money and the pursuit of it are anchors and I can't enjoy my life if I'm anchored. I will say this: I am jealous sometimes of people who do have savings for those incidentals that come with life because I never, ever do. That being said, I have been told by many people that they would love to be as carefree as me. It ain't easy to be me but it sure is a lot of fun!

Very true.
We have a little "nest egg", but we pretend its not there. We honestly live paycheck to paycheck, it only goes to bills and food. We dont eat out or go shopping. We buy used or find the best discount if we NEED something.

I would like to grow our nest egg more, but its been too tight to add to it.

Being a self-labeled “compulsive saver”, I really enjoyed reading this post. I wonder if your “Operation Translation” is still going on, @papa-pepper? I would like to make this post (and some others from your blog) available in Russian, Swedish and Esperanto, with your permission.

I had to dig through to find this one cos i know it was a classic...😅

Concerning money, yeah lets say I'm like you used to be and i have come to that point where i don't want to marry first before i get to learn to save.

Well, not having money for long triggers that act of wanting to show you have money when it comes, so my resolution is to control that emotion and keep money even though i have.

Im a fresh university graduate and the reality of lofe sets in really quick so good adjustments have to be made in preparation for any blessings that could just come by.

Thank you @papa-pepper!
