My 1st week with Alternate Day Fasting - Meine 1. Woche Intervallfasten

English:

I got involved with the so-called Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) through friends and my wife. In my opinion we have chosen the hardest variant of interval fasting.
The plan looks like this: fast one day and eat one day. And in constant change. On the day of fasting only vegetable stock, tea, coffee and water are allowed. On the next day you can eat normally.

However, interval fasting is not a diet.

We have now finished the 1st week and I would like to draw a short conclusion. The most important thing is discipline. The first fast day was no problem, but on the 2nd fast day it was already quite intense. Now I can understand what hunger is. And advertising on TV for food and sweets already hurts. But what surprised me was the view of the scales. After one week, I lost 1.5 kg of weight, even though I always ate normal on the day of my meal and did not give up my beloved chips.

Alternate Day Fasting should have the following effects on the body in addition to weight loss:

  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Change in the metabolism in the body, thereby the body's own healing powers are released
  • The long meal breaks reduce inflammatory processes in the body
  • Cancer cells are supposed to stop growth
  • Supports cell renewal
  • Degreases the liver
  • General weight loss
  • Besides, the interval fasting makes dangerous belly fat melt.

I will stay informing here about my further experiences.

I hope I stay strong.

I have generally heard good things about interval fasting, though it's not something I have done in a while.

Thanks to @seyiodus, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.

Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!

Thank you for resteeming @thedailysneak. I will keep on posting about my experience with this ADF.

Good on you for taking those steps to give your body a break and gain those benefits

Strengthening the immune system
Change in the metabolism in the body, thereby the body's own healing powers are released
The long meal breaks reduce inflammatory processes in the body
Cancer cells are supposed to stop growth
Supports cell renewal
Degreases the liver
General weight loss
Besides, the interval fasting makes dangerous belly fat melt.

I use intermittent fasting to give my body a break where I leave at least 14 hours in between the last meal of the day and the first meal of the next day. That has made quite a difference to me and took a bit to not reach for little snacks in between those hours but now that it's become habit I don't get the urge to snack the same.

I don't know yet how long I will keep this, but to continue after this extreme fasting I will choose this intermittent fasting as well.

Very interesting idea @ikarus56. I know fasting intermittently can be good, I'm curious how this will work out. It seems a bit much at every other day. You'll have to keep us up to date on how this goes. I am very much interested.

I will inform in future posts about my experience.

I have not heard about this ADF option. I'm not sure I could handle this type of eating plan. I'll keep an eye on your progress. 👍

It's much easier as I thought @wonderwop.

A few years ago we tried a variation of this (a mild one) 5 days normal and 2 days a week fasting. It makes you appreciate food more, that is for sure! Good luck, and I hope it brings the benefits you are looking for.

Thanks, @felt.buzz. The 5/2 variation will be following in a few weeks.

Good luck with this. I have heard that there is evidence that it can be beneficial.

Thanks, @toddrjohnson. The evidence I can measure after 10 days now is weightloss and I feel good.

I looking forward to reading more about your progress. Men and women tend to experience weight loss differently, so maybe you could add bits about your wife's experience as well. I've done short fasts of 24-48 hours, but never a sustained pattern of fasting. I do like the way it makes my body feel.

Hey @mattifer, thanks for passing by. I will inform about the progress and report the experience of my wife too.

Awesome, thanks! I'd like to try other types of fasting, but it's hard to find good info about the experience without an agenda.

Wow! Good on you. I don't think I can do that version of fasting. I've tried to fast before and the best I could do was to fast for 18 hours, then I get a 6-hour eating window. I did this for 5 days a week over a month or so. It was tough, but you get used to it after a while. Let us know how you progress.

Hi @cryptocopy, I will inform here about the progress. After this version, I will continue with the 16/8 method.

This is an interesting concept. I might have to give it a try. You also failed to mention another benefit - saving money on not eating on those days!

lol You are right, it saves money.

Fasting is a topic I am definitely actively researching more! There are so many different methods from mild to a bit tougher like what you are doing. I can definitely see the benefits to some, though each person has to find what works for them! I am finding I feel good with @porters method. Since I am so active I can't go whole days without nutrients, but making sure to leave a longer time overnight without food seems to work really well for me currently. I look forward to hearing more about your journey with it!

Thanks for reading, @plantstoplanks. Yes, there are some variations of fasting. After a few weeks, we will change to another one. We are thinking about the 5/2 method. With this, you have 2 days of fasting in a week.
