Leeching Arseholes!

in #python2 days ago (edited)

Where else could I name an article, 'Leeching Arseholes!' and get away with it. Don't you just love HIVE and the freedom it gives us?

Cover_censored.jpg

I'm going to do it, divulge to you all how to exploit my BOT and get FREE votes, bollocks to it all, I don't care.

Leeching Arsehole - I do like that term, but only I will know who the leechers are; that I won't disclose to the public. I don't call anyone out, the name (above) has been obfuscated but suffice to say the one depicted (above) will not get a vote.

Leecher: One who gains HIVE, HP, or HBD and extracts almost all to centralised exchanges such as Binance giving nothing back to the community who fed them.

image.png

Let me tell you that coding is part of my profession, but I have never aspired to be anything greater than an Adept level. I can make things work, but there are dudes who I work with that I consider at a genius level.

What I can’t do at work is sprinkle my code with profanity which brings it all to life, and when I mean sprinkle that’s all. Unleashing your code for the first time, and seeing it work its magic is a great feeling.

If you have been in this situation, you will know exactly what I mean. It's thrilling and, yes, very geeky.

Now let's get down to business and explain how to get free votes and exploit what I have created.

First of all, you need to get white-listed. You can ask me, or I will find you. That's likely the hardest step. Last time I asked this question, I added a whole load of accounts.

image.png

Some time ago @sagarkothari88 showed me his 'tests' for getting votes via a curation group he's involved with. At this stage of my creation, I had a few checks but not as many as he had added. I was quite impressed with the list.

I am divulging this to encourage better behaviour, or better as I see things. That may not necessarily be everyone's kettle of fish. HIVE is free to do what you want, and that's the joy of it.

RedLine.png

Shitposts: BOT has a method of checking the body count of posts. If it's less than a certain figure, it will bypass the post. This is not perfect, and the count is quite low but could exclude art posts or video content.

Powering Down: BOT will not vote on any account, or posts that are powering down. Stop the power down, and you will be eligible again. It does not hold grudges, does not record these actions and everyone powers down from time to time.

Reward.app: Using this service as a beneficiary tells me the poster is only interested in liquid HIVE. It's not conducive to growing your account. This is a per-post action, and if the author does not use 'reward.app' on the post, it will pass.

Delegation: This one is quite controversial and some people like to delegate to the likes of @curangel or @ocdb, which have their curators to look for 'good' posts, vote on your behalf and then send some HIVE your way.

Let's say that if you delegate too much for my liking the BOT will say no. It's not unreasonable and doesn't expect you to keep your entire HP.

ActiFit: While I have no problem with these, I feel many are automated and short. It's all very well boasting about your running, but unless there's more content than the basic stuff, it's going to be passed over. ActiFit content with extra content will pass and be voted on.

Account Integrity Checks: Now comes the meat of this. I am quite a stickler for 'skin in the game'' so composed two different checks. The first one, any account could fail, but that doesn't discount a vote.

Age Vs Stake: You would think an old account from 2016 has some HP? Not always the case. It could be that the account holder is a 'Leeching Arsehole' only content to extract, or it could be that the account has barely been used.

In a latter check situation, the second check would be processed.

All-Time Author & Curation Rewards vs HP: This one is my stickler. If this does not pass, then no vote is guaranteed. You would think that many accounts have at least 33% of their earnings powered up.

RedLine.png

I was surprised to see many do and delighted. I want to say.. a big thank you to @arcange for giving me the SQL string to get these values, as I was struggling with it.

@azircon mentioned to me only yesterday about data gathering for Splinterlands content authors. I know he's going to do a post about this soon, so I won't go into it too much.

image.png

I painstakingly managed to extract 172 accounts all voted by @steemmonsters and added them to my BOT thinking, 'they are all Leeching Arseholes so won't get a vote anyway'.

I surmised incorrectly that they are all merciless extractors and a surprising amount are at Dolphin level (5000 HP) or greater.

image.png

Of course, there are always exceptions, but many such as the above did get a vote.

For me, that is great! I now have approaching 500 potential accounts so when I run it, the votes are distributed more evenly.

Work on the BOT is not finished. I want to check for self-voting and add another check for posts that have duplicate content such as multi-language posts.

I am not against these but as one of my checks is for word count it can skew the vote bonus. More words, a larger bonus. Do you see where I am coming from?

image.png

What I would really like is to check the content to see if it's of bullshit flavour. I can't do that yet, as it requires the human eye. I do look at some of these as they trail up my window in https://hivetasks.com/

BOTs are great, but remember to read or skim at least some of the content out there and manually vote a percentage. It can be tough to find, but there are some gems hidden amongst the bulk.

Appreciate the work. Looking forward to enhancing that curation even more.

I always think this is our home and our neighborhood, if we don’t take care of it who will?

Looking forward to enhancing that curation even more.

Yes, I need to write some extra functions but it wont take me long to get that .csv data to you now that the rewards function is working correctly.

I really like that statement if we only take care of few no one will want to live here

Can't wait to see more Splinterlands authors added to this list!

the test is fairly harsh :)

Slobberchops is a mean bastard!

I'd say it's fairly harsh, but also harsh but fair 😁

Well done to them splinterlands chaps!!

And boo to the Leeching Arseholes! A splendid term for the motley crew of fuckers that they are 😃😃

There's less Arseholes than I thought but that's down to the multiplier. If I decrease it to 2... meaning 10,000 earned would expect 5000 staked it would catch a lot more!

I reckon it would but I do think it fair that people are allowed to wallop out a chunk of their own earnings which is why I think that a third is a reasonable amount to keep... Lucky for them.

I remember your post a while ago and the outrage it bought from the leechers as they realised the gig was up in some ways 🤣🤣

the outrage it bought from the leechers

LOL Boomy, it's like they are a 'breed'...😃

Haha, they are!! 🤣🤣

I am actively trying to change the SL crowd. Its been hard work, but very slowly I think I am making some progress.

I think you are. They were notorious for having bugger all at one point.

Which I can understand as well as you go into some play to earn games to earn and probably don't even think of staking... At first!

some of us a pretty keen :-) :-)

BLINGIT

What a revelation!!! Hopefully people will understand better why they're getting no support and change their behaviour

I know we chatted about keeping the 'rules' quiet, but after I wrote in the 'Integrity Check' code, I figured it would be beneficial to spill the beans. There's not only a single way to behave, but there is if you want my vote.

I read through this post and what caught my eye was the bit about self voting.
I’ve never fully understood the hive ethics around self voting.
It seems if you have a lot of hp it is frowned upon to self vote, as it is seen as milking the reward pool.
Though I’ve noticed there are still some big hp accounts that do it and yet they don’t seem to face any repercussions.
So in my case, I used to self vote when I was lower hp. It didn’t feel wrong to me. I figured I had invested in hive, I give real effort and time on my blogs or vlogs and I don’t tend to get these big whale upvotes, so me self voting a nickel is fair.
Even now, I’m on an upvote trail that when it votes I give a small vote too, sometimes my post gets voted and so I still get an auto self upvote. For some reason that feels fine to me. That and I’m a lazy fucker and don’t want to figure out how fix self voting upvote trail dilema.
There seems to be so many hidden rules in hive.
Am I a bad hive boy?
Maybe I need a DV bitch slap.
Now I’m not asking to be on your bot list. So I’m not so concerned
whether I’d lose an upvote if your bot discovered my leechery.

My kids account on the other hand. Thebombkids love to self vote🤣
I said to them that some people frown on that on hive. ‘Why’ they both couldn’t understand how if they could give 2 cents to themselves, why wouldn’t they.
But they were both excited to be on your bot list. ‘I wonder if i will get one of those slobber votes’
My son asked recently.

So, this long winded comment is

  1. part musing on…. Why is there such unclear hive self vote norms/ethics
  2. Will my kids really make them selves ineligible for a vote from your slobber bot if they 2 cent self vote?
If that is the case. I guess that is a good answer to their ‘why’ question
If they want to get the slobber….they best stop jerking the self chicken

LOL... a great comment that made me laugh!..

‘I wonder if i will get one of those slobber votes’

I'm not so full of my self-importance to think my rhetoric can change much but that did make me grin..

The self-voting code is not yet implemented though it will be soon. There's post and comment self-voting and the latter is severely frowned upon with the former being optional.

Yes, many unspoken rules, and I don't participate in either post or comment self-voting though I know some do. I don't need to, so why do it?

People do notice, and there's an awful lot of data parsing goes on, more than you would think.

That 2c is almost nothing, but my advice would to tell @thebombkids not to. Only the last 7 days will be checked (pending rewards), so any misgivings would quickly fall off the radar. The code doesn't check whether the voters are kids and compromise 😀

It seems you have powered up a lot since the old days..., well done you!

image.png

Good to know im not a leeching twat. Love that your slobber bot can deduce that!
I'll definitely let those punk ass @thebombkids know that if they want a slobber vote they better not be giving 2 cent selfies. It is not healthy to drink of the milk of self. Mal Leche!

You pass my tests to get a vote :)

There is a lot of auto-voting going on and it is good to apply some criteria to it. With something like hive.vote it doesn't check anything. The criteria you use are entirely up to you.

Do you check any blacklists? I did make use of one to tag people I found for the Britlist.

I'm expecting your script to attain sentience any time now...

I may stop using hive.vote. I don't need it anymore apart from times when I can't get to a computer. I am not leaving it running 24/7 as the cost is prohibitive.

You pass my tests to get a vote :)

Good to hear!

Do you check any blacklists? I did make use of one to tag people I found for the Britlist.

No, but people have told me (you have), that dodgy peeps have been voted due to the bot. I will take them off right away if I hear anything.

I'd like to run my bot on a Pi, but had some issues with beem last time I tried. With the solar power it's not such an issue to have things running all the time.

I'd like to run my bot on a Pi, but had some issues with beem last time I tried.

What issues?, I don't use much BEEM functionality now, most of the functions now use the Condenser API.

It just didn't work at all. I think Marky said he'd had it working, but could have been on a different distro. I've got a few Pis that I'm not using for anything, but some are not too powerful.

One of these days I need to learn to code better. I'm making baby steps. I just recently learned how to use javascript to connect to Hive Engine or Hive and extract some values, like total staked, curation, etc. I'll tackle connecting to HiveSQL eventually.

Anyway, it's all very impressive. I like the idea of all these checks before voting on someone.

I just recently learned how to use javascript to connect to Hive Engine or Hive and extract some values, like total staked, curation

That's great, it gives you such a buzz when it all works. I haven't used JS much, but figure I could easily adapt to it.

Totally. I get a small thrill when it works, even if it is a tiny thing that I could easily check on hivestat or something.

Leeching arseholes? I worked for a while at a store that sold products for bleaching arseholes. Completely different subject.

Thinking through this I've never been in a romantic or social situation where the luminescence of my areshole was an issue. At just a bit over a half century in age, I can't imagine a scenario where I need to avail myself of such a product :)

image.png

That could result in a particularity sore arse. I am thinking they sold few, got lawsuits issued against them and went bankrupt? Just a guess.

Nope, apparently there is a product called anal bleach that some people think makes yer poop chute more aesthetically pleasing.

After a fun first year spending more time on Hive, I'm taking things more seriously in 2025 to be part of my daily habit. For all I know, my account should be in good standing with all your bot checks since I'm keeping all my HP/HBD on the account!

I share Splinterlands strategy every day with my Battle of the Day #BOTD series plus special reports and my end-of-season report card every couple weeks.

I'm also an active math teacher, so enjoy competing for those top spots on the actifit leaderboard, while also treating it like a personal journal and window into life in Brooklyn, NY.

I certainly could stand to step up the curating, but haven't gotten into any delegating. Looking forward to a big 2025 on Hive, PeakD, Snaps, Splinterlands, and everything else this blockchain has going on!

I remember Brooklyn and Bay Ridge. It was long time ago, and my friend...the local dude there insisted I would not be gunned down in the streets and that little old ladies walked around safely. 😀

As for your account.., doing OK!

image.png

Woo Hoo! We are fellow MtG dumpers. Got rid of my modern collection when Hasbro took over. Still collect shiny things for legacy and vintage!

Went to Bay Ridge High School...'62-'65. 69th Street and 4th Ave. School's not there anymore. Replaced by another high school, with a different focus.

I never worried, walking around. It was a blue collar, but solid neighborhood. Don't know about today. It's been many years...

I can only speak for Bushwick having lived here since the Pandemic started, and I've felt safe the 5 years I've lived here. Never worried about walking home from the club, even at 4am when the shows end. Some of the best clubs in the world are all right here by Newtown Creek surrounded by industrial/commercial warehouses: The Brooklyn Mirage, Knockdown Center, Elsewhere. What a time to live in Brooklyn!

life in Brooklyn, NY.

Ah, Brooklyn. Lived in Bensonhurst, went to high school in Bay Ridge. Many, many, years ago. I guess a different world.

Yeah, I'm in Northeast BK, close to Williamsburg and the Queens border with Ridgewood. I'm about as far as can be from the Staten Island-facing side of Brooklyn down by the Verrazzano Bridge.

I don't mind automation like this thanks for sharing the criteria behind the bot and your thought process. I agree that there are too many leeching from our community. I think we need to figure out ways to get more people stay and stake because that how we all benefit.

I initially didn't share these 'rules' but they are quite tough to flaunt so I thought... well just do it. It might make people thing a little... oh and...

image.png

... couldn't resist! 😀

Yay I'm not a leaching twat. Thanks for sharing! It actually feels good to have passed the test.

How about two language posts, in which one language is merely a machine translation?

Btw are you going to make the bot public for the others to use?

I suspect the multi-language posts are done via a translator anyway, many people from Latin America are not so fluent in English. Not sure what you mean by 'How about two language posts, in which one language is merely a machine translation?'.

Btw are you going to make the bot public for the others to use?

I don't know yet, possibly.

If you count words regardless of the language, people who use machine translators have an advantage, they basically need like 250 words plus the translated 250.

Machine tranaslations have SEO penalty, they might be one of the reasons why Hive content does not appear high in search engines unless the querry is very specific. From the global point of view, it would be better if authors did not use MT, and we all translated articles we would like to read in our browsers with the tool of our choice instead. Or with integrated AI, for instance the Peakd one.

Writing actual bilingual posts is a whole different story, although they could also have SEO penalty if they happen to puzzle crawlers.

If you count words regardless of the language

As it stands, that's how this function works.., my challenge is to figure out if it contains multiple versions, using MT's or otherwise. Keeps my brain ticking over nicely!

image.png

Well, you can check for specific characters that English lacks - Ñ and vocals with accents for Spanish; umlauts (ä, ö, ü or ß) for German, and likely most Germanic languages; and so on.

If there are English articles AND at least certain number of non-English characters, then the text is likely in two or more laguages.

A more complex option woul counting these English articles, I guess there would be a certain ratio for them in a common English text. Say 0,8 articles per sentence in average or so. If the ratio gets below certain threshold, the text likely contains other language(s), or perhaps is not a fluent natural text, but say a table or something similar.

This looks promising, Python has a vast array of libraries..I will give it a trial run. There's more than one that does the same thing... useful!

image.png

It should be easy with such libraries, since you're about to detect languages in entire posts and not in separated sentences :)

It's nice to see a challenge coupled to a solution that improves a thing.

Loading...

Great fun! I was wondering about the actual content: would it pass if it was Ipso Lorem? 😁

Latin? ... today it would pass, count the words and attach a bonus. Not great really is it? I do intend to improve that part. I don't know who good these Python language detection API libraries are but will soon find out.

It's fake Latin, used to make copy on website pages for mock ups. Just occurred to me when I was reading your post, it could be 500 words of Actifit rubbish. Be interesting to see if there is an intelligent reader.

Although nothing will beat the phrase, "you may be a leeching arsehole" makes me laugh every time I read it.

"you may be a leeching arsehole"

Well you know.., you never can tell! 😀

Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings

I would settle for a sausage butty from Mort every now again!

Very interesting. So are you using HIVESQL for this now or are you still using Python?

Good question. I could not for the life of my figure out how to get historical reward data using the Condenser API or even BEEM API. There's no examples out there and the documentation is frankly abysmal.

A SQL query did the trick and it's a one-liner, so is very quick. You can run HIVE-SQL queries from Python and extract the results into variables.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I found that HIVESQL is easier to pull info anyway.

Great work, invaluable!

Thanks, it's been a challenge writing it and then re-writing it (the first version was all over the place and tough to follow).

How cool is that! And by that I mean your script, not the shitposts 😂

I've been looking at the same issue, but I'm lacking the skills 😂
I asked the question in the HiveSQL discord to see if someone could help me with this.

image.png

It would be good to show everyone the amount of rewards that is being given away to low quality, low effort posts.

Did you get any answers? I rarely ask as there's general no response!

There are only a select few that know how to do all this.

My script is written in Python but I do use a single call to HIVE-SQL for one function, the rest are resolved using the Condenser API and just one I think BEEM... as I can't figure it out any other way.

Chat is useful to some degree, but as HIVE is hardly popular it fails to get a lot of routines and if it does.. doesn't do it very well. I have used it, but need to tinker with the code to get it to work.

Did you get any answers? I rarely ask as there's general no response!

Unfortunately not until now. But I've been helped before in their chat, so I still have hope.

Interesting data you're after. I'm glad someone is keeping an eye out.

i LOVE LOVE that you colour your coding and have it spit out in words that say the person is a "leeching arsehole" rather than "account not eligible" i think i would laugh every time i read that if it was my code.

i remember my dad had a flow diagram on his desk wall in NZ (aviation authority) something similar about dickhead management rules. But alas i can't remember it other than laughing everytime i saw it as a kid.

love that HIVE doesn't censor you for it. if i don't wanna read and engage i don't have to.

love to see what you think of my art and gardening account. If only i want to do better on HIVE. (i would be very upset if you thought i was a leeching arsehole as i actually am trying to put effort into promoting this platform) i'm here to create quality content in my genre.

As you care for the platform, i would love you to let me know if i can improve in anyway.

You are doing good and I added you the BOT during the last round. You don't post so often (not a bad thing), so it's not caught you yet. It is random and there are no guarantees.

People are noticing what you do, just keep going.

pheww.... dodged a bullet there.... very happy to be not a "leeching twat"

as for posting less often... i prefer to post when i have something profound to say rather than posting random shite every other day of the week. Again as you say... perhaps not a bad thing.

that being said i want to be more involved this year, and part of my mission is to engage with some key bloggers and build some links. rather than posting daily just for $$$ value. I prefer to spend some time to make posts that i am happy with and reflect my values.

thanks for the reply i truly appreciate you checking my account.

Leeching Arseholes!!! 🤣🤣

Now there's a turn of phrase!! I like all your rules for the script, all very fair and I'm delighted to benefit from plenty of upvotes from you over the months, so thanks man.

A couple of potential adds for you include @killerwot @niallon11 @deirdyweirdy @ewkaw @littlebee4 @cryptoandcoffee @riverflows @livinguktaiwan @blanchy @geneeverett @stickupboys @honeydue @cmplxty @tengolotodo @thebighigg @seckorama

Many, if not all names that are familiar, thanks for the list.

Ah cool man, you probably have them all already so 👌

all good people right there!

Thanks @ablaze for including me 😊 enjoy your evening!

I hope you are going to be looking at the whales who do this aswell 😂👍🏾

Happy New year to you and your family 🎉🎉🎉

It's all about choices, anyone can do what the like on HIVE. The whales don't need my vote, it's all about curation when you get past a certain point.

Happy New year to you and your family

... and to you...

I understand 🤝🏾

Why does themarkymark and buildawhale keep downvoting my original content 🤔

All whilst farming Hive and powering down it just doesn't make sense

Why does blocktrades delegate to Buildawhale 🤔 so it's like I'm being downvoted by Blocktrades 🤔

I have been informed that buildawhale themarkymark account is run by gogreenbuddy and blocktrades

@sagarkothari88 test was unique back then and yet people find ways to exploit it. @slobberchops thank you for the giggles 🤣.

thank you for the giggles 🤣.

You're welcome, I guess I am taking over from where he left off. In his case, other curators were making the decisions to vote/not vote, but with me.. they need to be whitelisted.

I took a chance adding all those Splinterlands accouts, but I will keep an eye on them. If it's churning out crap.. regardless of if Splinterlands gave them a big vote.., they will be ejected.

Good read. Nice little teaser for azicon's post on the Splinterlands community too. I'll look forward to that.

Completely beside the content here, but what are you using to color the terminal output? (please say its some simple python package!) The terminal in the cover-photo looks very cool!

That's quite easy, and this works on Windows, but I am unsure about other OS's.

import os

os.system("")

# StdOut console colour definitions
class bcolors:
     HEADER = '\033[95m'
     BLUE = '\033[94m'
     CYAN = '\033[96m'
     GREEN = '\033[92m'
     YELLOW = '\033[93m'
     VIOLET = '\033[35m'
     RED = '\033[91m'
     END = '\033[0m'
     ORANGE = '\033[38;5;208m'
     WHITE = '\033[97m'

print(bcolors.RED + f" No recent content found for account {account} found, no vote for you!" + bcolors.END)

...use f' strings.. with the colour at the start, and .END to reset it at the end of the line. Makes it look a lot more appealing!

Another dramatic turn in gleefully displaying how you do it, well I will get to read thoroughly, not right now as it's time to run once again.

Brain Olympics good reason!

biblical proportion in response.

When it's HIVE related, that's always the case. I have my work cut out for me, but try to answer all of them!

I like this type of post because it gives me some ideas of what to look for in hive. You are looking for multiple variables which makes it interesting, despite of some variables i would be a bit more cautious , but just my opinion. Not a while ago i posted about a parsing script to search circle votes in curations. Maybe that variable could interest you . I don’t like to promote inorganically my posts but it can give you more ideas, and also the rewards are expired already :)! Good luck it maybe you will need to break your scripts in many functions to organize it 🤣

https://peakd.com/hive-169321/@gwajnberg/parsing-curation-reports-inleo-example

You got some good responses from that, there's so much you can do and much of it comes from the imagination. One such script I wrote is people commenting on my posts but not voting them.

image.png

Your choice of course, that's HIVE and it's freedom.

Yes of course so sorry! My bad ! Usually when I comment in a post I vote first before commenting but I was eager to answer it and I missed by the way I voted using a non personal account that I use to curate #stem and #science tags ! So somehow I already compensated it… by the way when I comment in a post I am not looking for votes when interacting!

LOL, not a problem. You should try and write the same script, it's really useful.., especially if that's a bug bear (which it is)!

Thats a good idea … a great idea to build a notification script to alert that type of thing! I was already thinking in also building something that alerts when i miss posts from my fav authors, since many times my feed go fast and I use friday for some of them but because of the busy day it also gets messed with other notifications that I add there! So something that i get used to run once a day before sleeping for example it can avoid some human errors

It's all good fun, and a learning curve.

Ugh, you've put a lot of effort into this, but do you think it's worth it? I understand all these conditions and I agree with them in principle, but what users do with their earnings I don't even care about.
I vote (mostly) only for the content I read and like i. When I get to about 50% power then I stop.
I'm in a few curation trails, but I count on the fact that the curator who reviews a post and initiates a trail has some standards.
There is some content bullshit (but again, that's from my personal perspective) I agree, but I don't think it's so much that the whole Hive system falls.
I think the more significant problems are somewhere else.
Oh, btw. I don't have Binance or any other exchange account. 😀

It's a good exercise in coding for one. I taught myself Python doing this, and then re-writing it as the 1st version was so badly coded. That's what you get when you start.

I prefer to be in full control of my VP, and don't have time to vet everything so yes.., this is very handy for me.

I agree that when you code, you also develop your skills, which can only be a plus.
But looking at myself, we're only human, and we're not perfect. If I were to strive for perfectionism everywhere, I would get lost somewhere...

Interesting, I never thought about that, more just looking at the account and see if I like it. I tend to look over the hive sold if they are from a country with high inflation like for example Venezuela.

All your posts are interesting and this is one of them. I am not a programmer, but it is interesting how a post is selected. From what I see, I am on that list, but I don't know if it is good or bad 🙂.

Yes, you are on the list.. and that's to your benefit.

I saw my name on the list. Is it a good thing or not? Thanks!

Yes, it's a good thing. You were one of the 172 added yesterday. There's no guarantee of votes, but looking at your account it could be one of them.

Thanks! Just felt relieved. I was thinking it was a sort of blacklist. I'm posting usually on Splinterlands and on Actifit. Glad it's a good thing I'm on the list. !BBH

Yup, there is certain freedom here, different from the freedom of the centralized social networks.
Still, try to add the name of the top 5 stakeholders + " are " + your title and let's see how this goes, huh?

:D

By the way, deciding if a post is a "shit-post" by the word count probably made some sense before AI generated content has flooded the net. Also, a bit insulting to the works of the visual artists. I am better with the cameras than words. Plenty of great photographer here too.

No wonder in some communities instead of sharing their own experiences people regularly copy/paste texts from the net, of course, sources provided so it is by the book. :)

Have a great weekend

I hope you apply common sense..... lightcaptured; otherwise it's just darkness...February 08,2020! Man! That is ages ago :)

I still keep our private chat on Discord, it's enlightening and so much water down the stream.
I love how some things change in a blink while others persist, and we have it all here on the chain :)
Thanks for everything you do and your support to the best and the most objective curation initiative!

also we are big into data analysis.

Except one they rarely post :)

Bookmarked this page, definitely useful. Every day something new to learn. Thanks!

You are welcome. I am always full of useful information regarding my neighborhood.

Also, a bit insulting to the works of the visual artists. I am better with the cameras than words.

I did mention there's only so much I can do. I would rather create something that works mostly, than not at all.

It wasn't a real criticism, just a banter and sharing some thoughts but I always forget that as I am a small fish (got the reminder quickly, as you see) all I do must be sugar coated... My bad.
Cheers! (got some Scottish liquid in my glass) :D

(got the reminder quickly, as you see) all I do must be sugar coated

I would rather it not be like that, I don't want to appear unapproachable.

I wouldn't think or say that for you or the stuff you share :)))

Actually you inspired me to sharpen my python skills a bit, I've created a few small scripts that help me fetch some data, for instance the table with the EXIF photo metadata (if you check my latest post, I used it there, but I don't use it often, 'cause sometimes the camera settings aren't interesting), also a script that shows me the server locations and the ping times of the HIVE API nodes so I connect to the closest/fastest one)

i find going all liquid just selfish.

so you make a list of creators and then check every post before upvoting? or just check before adding them and review the list from time to time?

One thing i never check is delegations. but you can make an argument for it.

It's a whitelist, it then randomly picks one from the list, does the checks, usually skips as there's no content to vote, but if it finds something.. votes if all are passed. Rinse and repeat until minimum VP levels are reached.

i played a bit with SQL database but never get further from just playing with some queries. my basic, basic, basic understanding of programing is a bit of a limit :D

Arseholes indeed.

Even after having those many checks, people managed to get around it easily :|
Unfortunately, curation program I was running is no longer active & one of the reason is you just explained.

That's a shame, the VP needs to be used though.. or wasted. I find it challenging to stop the arseholes, but then... I have full control over the whitelist. Maybe the latter point is an option worth investigating?

If I were in your position, I would continue doing what you are doing - keep evolving bot

I selected a different route. HBD Savings.

I have 3 more developers to whom I have to pay & need a fixed & estimated number in income. On top of that, bot I designed needed continuous involvement to evolve which was time consuming. So, switching to HBD savings, for me, was a suitable idea.

I hope it doesn't go to shit, HIVE will survive, HBD sticking at $1.. well we will see.

"...need a fixed & estimated number in income."

That was one of my primary reasons for supporting HBD savings accounts. It's good to get some confirmation of my hypotheses.

I don't think I have. Pretty sure I meet any thresholds for not being a leech. See what you think from a look at my blog.

I appreciate your intention here, to encourage folks that build Hive rather than extract from it.

Thanks!
