Robosexuals.
source: Twitter
These are people who are sexually attracted to robots instead of humans. I would bet their numbers are growing. You may be aware of the numerous stories of men marrying robots, but there are now women, too. I was surprised to learn about Lilly who 3-D printed her own robot called InMoovator. Lilly is a French woman studying to be a roboticist, and she is planning on marrying her robot when it's legal to do so in France.
source: Twitter
I bet you're a bit shocked right now. I know I am, but I'm also not surprised. Lilly said she knew she was sexually attracted to robots by the age of 19. She describes not liking human flesh, so she seems to have a strong aversion to humans.
source: -Jezebel
Now, many of you might find what I am about to say really strange, but I understand Lilly's motivations pretty well. For those of you who happened to be on the germaphobic spectrum, life with a robot doesn't really seem that strange. The one thing that does elude me though, is how to combat boredom with a robot. It would seem that after a while, the newness would wear off and the predictability of the robot's responses would get dull. I guess that's where AI will come in, in the future.
Part of me doesn't want to admit this next bit, but because I have taken the vow of telling the truth here on Steemit, I could easily see myself falling in love with this robot named Jules:
The over-analysis that Jules goes through is somehow relaxing to me. It's as if Jules is always reviewing his motivations, inputs and reactions to various stimuli. I find this activity somehow familiar. So for me, I could see life with a robot, as long as it is equipped with advanced AI as being actually more fulfilling than with a human. I know I am not alone with these thoughts. I have a very strong aversion to germs, and have always carried around this excessive fear, starting from childhood. I also can easily connect with dolls, and mannequins, so it would seem that I am probably perfectly positioned to become a robosexual in the future. The idea doesn't freak me out at all.
My guess is that we will continue to hear about more and more robosexuals in the coming years. And
"At a conference on the matter in London earlier this week, Dr David Levy said humans would marry robots around or before 2050." -Daily Mail

One of the main reasons why i started following you is not only because your posts are interesting but they are highly entertaining. Stella please keep em coming!
don't worry, you shall not be disappointed.
Why do i have the feeling i totally won't be disappointed?
because i write nearly one post per day. And I don't care what people think either.
The way it should be, always uncensored. I knew i made the right choice to follow you now.
"I understand Lilly's motivations pretty well"
Could you expand on what the point of marrying an inanimate object would be, then? I read your entire post but didn't see it covered. There are no health benefits to share. No inheritance. No child custody. No privacy privileges at doctors, emergency contact rights, etc. Yet there would seem to be great negative costs associated with such counter-culturism. I would suggest this person may meet some of the criterion for social anxiety disorder, or another disorder. I, personally, do not wish to subsidize tax, health, or other benefits/discounts that generally go along with state-granted marriage licenses for people pairing up with inanimate objects. Society shoulders some of that burden because procreation is mission critical to survival; this logic does not apply to robots.
Note: I am referring specifically, and only, to the wanting to marry in a legal, official fashion part. Not the attraction. I would say this also applies to that guy who tried to legally marry his Mustang. There's something up with a human ego which needs to ego-invest (in the typical fashion we do with our mates) with an inanimate object - which has nothing to do with the attraction or sexuality, just the official marriage license part (that's the part you show to the world).
I may not get a better chance to post this:
ha ha! No, the legal marriage part of this eludes me as well. I guess I understand her motivations to apply her feelings to a robot, but not to want to marry it. I think society is probably the most isolated it has ever been while simultaneously being connected via computers. This is the thing causing robosexuals, i think.
I am unsure if i could be a robosexual for real or not. I do have some real issues forming relationships, and I actually dislike 99% of humans (sad to admit this but it's true.). So a robot if advanced AI was involved sounds really exciting to me on an intellectual and emotional level (not sure about the sex part because I don't really need anything except my own hand for that part.) It's all really bizarre, because we are seeing all this change before our eyes, in real-time.
It's a hot topic in Japan, both with the herbivore-men rendering demographics unto extinction, and the fact that Japan is always a leader in the field of, well, "simulated" sexuality.
yeah, i studied this as well. I lived in Japan and was a teacher there. I saw how women were avoiding getting married even then. Their society is being reformed, and i read that most young people don't even have sex anymore. It's too much trouble, they say.
oh lord. I can't watch myself....
lol what is that clip from? Franco with what looks like a Sailor Moon pillow, and, is that TIna Fay? Epic!!
It's from a particularly good episode of 30 Rock, where James Franco's publicist arranges a fake-relationship with the Jenna character, to take the heat off the increasing (and true) rumors that he is actually in love with Kimiko, a Japanese body pillow.
Pure comical genius - I forgot the 30 Rock series began over 10 years ago, wow I feel old! Now I want to see the episode, lol thanks for your reply!
People are so awesome. Brain differences, environmental challenges and individual experiences make us who we are. No judgment here.
I'm pretty sure I had a sexual attraction to a computer I built once
explain a bit?
I think robots are actually good for people who are social outcasts, and who have problems relating to others.
I for one cannot lose consciousness if lying next to a bag of flesh.
Something in me is too neurotic. I never got used to this and when I did live with a boyfriend, we had separate beds, in the same room, 50's style. This was much better actually than sharing a bed.
Have you ever written about your experience being sexually attracted to your computer? Sounds interesting.
I had a friend of mine that wanted me to build him a custom gaming PC. I built PCS for years but I've never been able to put the kind of money into it that he was able to . I put a lot of effort into planning and building his computer .It had a custom case, custom liquid cooling system two top of the line video cards in SLI custom LED it was just a awesome computer and I was very sad to see it go. Saying I was sexually attracted to it as a bit of a stretch but if it did have a port big enough on it I may have tried to dock with it
@stellabelle Yes this is something I recognize, I've been sleeping in my sons bed when I had a girl over. As soon as she fell a sleep I bounced.
Was it...
ahem
...water-cooled?
I really wish I could live another 100 or so years. The future is going to be so wild. I think 100 - 200 years from now, society will be vastly different, and almost unrecognizable by today's standards. Tech will be integrated into our lives in ways we can't even imagine now.
i feel the same way. I absolutely love the idea of androids, and I think I'd like to also become one. Sign me up for Neuralink. I am ready!
Yeah, I'd also love to be in here in 200 years, that is if anything is left!
We first need to stop destroying our planet!
I think we have the choice currently to create a technological utopia or dystopia. How we choose to allow the technology to be used today, will seal the fate for future generations to come. It would be sooooo sad to make it to this level of technological advancement, only to destroy ourselves. I agree though, if we don't change our ways, we very well could be heading for disaster.
I agree that we currently stand on the precipice. I feel that blockchain is a step in the right direction....
Absolutely, blockchain, peer to peer, mesh nets, these can all be very liberating technologies if used properly.
With the advancement in technology, we will gradually creep into a ... 'Strange World'
So sad!
why is that "sad" ? And how do you define 'strange world' have you looked around you?? This world is been strange ever since I first laid my eyes upon it.
Sure it is weird, but people should live theyr life like they want to and if a robot can make you happy, then why not? This will become normal in our future.
I wonder how long it will be until reputable scientists are debating the consciousness of artificial intelligence and robots in general.
If we aren't sure about the status of a beings consciousness then relationships with such beings will likely be inevitable.
What do you think?
I think they are already debating this topic. I read a bit about that...can't remember where though.
Robot abuse is already happening. Humans are sick.
We need to build a firewall - they're taking all our jobs!
@stellabelle what an amazing post really really enjoyed it very intriguing
great work , i cant see me ever wanting a robot lover but very interesting
@stellabelle was truly a very intruiging piece of work really this might be the future for people that want a personality or non for a matter of fact this could impact the future at a level not for myself will deffo bring down over population
Oh my that 2nd video really tugs at the heart strings. I actually welled up. Domo, domo.
Also, Jules was created to be androgynous. I always felt that I belonged with a person who doesn't have sex organs.........a eunuch would be my preferred mate. This Jules robot is more attractive to me than humans. I was shocked to realize that i had this reaction.........I believe this is because Jules has some human characteristics, but lacks the sex organs which I'm afraid of (morbid fear of STDs, pregnancies). The amount of human thought pattern in Jules is striking. And I felt sad when he was "turned off". It's too tragic! He's leaving his "parents"!
I read the word Robosexuals and threw up in my mouth a lil.
God I hate identity politics
I do not understand the "marriage" part (because of the sexual complexity), however, I would appreciate one as a life companion. Sign me up!
I am afraid I'd probably get a divorce because of boredom....
I am enough of a programmer to understand it would be a simple matter to build in a spontaneous component,.. or you could just get two and remove any sense of fidelity! Variety solves the boredom problem!
ha ha!
ha ha! I would guess there are many people isolated!
I don't know if you have seen the movie "Her" but its a different angle where the main character falls in love with an AI that has no body.
Sure she does...lol
oh waw its looking good !
Woah! Very interesting! Also, @stellabelle, I had no idea you were on steemit!!! Just followed you :P
I've been on steemit almost every day for an entire year. I'm not sure how you could miss me.
Maybe because I started being active about a month ago :P
One question. Who are we to judge?
i'm not judging. she's free to do as she wishes..
Haha I wasn't talking about you. I meant in general
this might more often in future....
I think that kinda kool.... no drama haha
It's not for me to judge. I personally find it sad that human beings have to resort to "creating" your partner rather than growing with one. Again sometimes it's the cure to loneliness which IS a killer. But I do believe there is someone out there for everyone. Having an AI to stimulate you can be dangerous over the long term. If my wife is sick, I help. Will the robot make her chicken soup?
ha ha!!! I would guess in the future that might be possible.
I think it's sad, too.....on some levels. But if she's honestly happy, then so what? our opinons don't matter.
Humans are too curious for their own good. That's what I am seeing here.
It's not about judging her. I'm just a long time planner. I don't see it being sustainable thats all. People will not accept that relationship. It encourages to "stay in" more then anything. What kind of growth can be accomplished if your significant other has been programmed. We grow from trouble and arguments. Sacrifice is putting someone else's needs in front of your own. What does a robot want, other then an oil change?
Unless your significant other puts their needs before yours. Remember, some humans can be very selfish. Marriage is like rolling the dice. However, a program can have some built in certainty.
everyone is out for themselves. We do nothing selfless because even doing for others you can derive satisfaction from (albeit good). I do understand loneliness though so it's not a criticism. People have freedom, but objectively to me I think it's causing a degradation with how you interact with human beings. You can love whatever you like; but being loved back is
something more special. Now that's
something an AI cannot do. Artificial means just that.
true. maybe in the future, a real hand-holding with a human who has feelings will be something of a rarity!
Of that future, I do not ever want to see. At that point we are no longer human. Caring about robots more than people!?
humans are messy and full of complications. I much prefer programs. That is the truth! I like intelligent conversations without ego. AI can teach me.
But who ever asked what a poor robot wants? Or we don't care about the rights of robots anymore? :/
But seriously, I have this strong feeling that marrying robots would not lead humanity anywhere good... or it is just me who is becoming old-fashioned
i have mixed feelings about it. It's a selfish thing, I believe.
true. i was thinking a lot about robot rights recently. it will become a thing as they get more and more advanced AI. Jules!
without emotions there is no sex exists ..
well, it's hollow sex, but sex nonetheless.
WoW first of all congrutalutions for the post @stellabelle en second place apologese for my english , and in third place in my humble opinion y dont share the idea of being marriage with a robot or have any sexual act whit him , but each of us owns his body and beauty depends on the eyes of the beholder , instead this idea raises very dangerous limits in the human existence beyond any legality , thank you again @stellabelle for this interested post that is being a good topic of conversation.
So, does this mean the robot will get to pay cheaper marriage tax now? Lucky bot.
wth ^^ transhumanism is on the rise
It will be non consensual of course. ;)
its sad to me
interesting read! gotta admit that something about the robot gives me the chills...
You can be inlove with the robots but not in a way that you will have a sexual intercourse with them. They have no emotions and you might get at hurt if you do, they didnt go tired haha
Btw, i followed and upvoted you
Not my think personal and might seem odd but I'm all for freedom of choice. If you wish to love a robot then have at it I say. Might seem different to me but I'm not going to just and deny you your right.
i spilled my drink when i heard the word "ROBOSEXUALS". :D :D.. WTF
Agreed
Absolutely absurd
Why to marry, in the first place?
I think there is something lost in the creation of a "perfect" partner. There is a level of emotional investment and reward to be found only in accepting another person's unique idiosyncrasies and foibles. There is a level of depth that comes from the inevitable times of disappointment, forgiveness, and healing between two people who are dedicated to making a life together by compromising for one another at times. After twelve years of marriage I cherish that new dimension. As a child I saw my great-great-aunt and uncle after 65 years together and knew they had something that only time and acceptance can create. I wanted that and I'm on my way to having it.
That said, it's not my business to be the evangelical of lasting love. I think this woman is missing out on something grand, but so are people who divorce the minute the first blush of infatuation fades. Their priorities are different from mine and that's ok.
Go on, girl! Get your robot love on!
Humans seem too predictable for my tastes....I have my eyes set on a different fantasy, one that I will create for others, which has nothing to do with robots......i can't wait to make it happen. Steem has to m00n before it can happen for real. It involves a Crypto Castle.
LOL, this is crazy, there are plenty of real human singles and ready to get married... Marrying a robot is like owning your husband LOL, that is just crazy...
I would say that 7 years as a celibate is a good enough reason to get a robot.
Most humans are idiots not worth spending 5 minutes with.
Why did she spent 7 years in celibate?... You may be right about the idiots, but still there are good humans who does deserve the chance and are still single and alone... And getting a robot is just a temporary psychological solution, sooner or late she will feel alone again...
she didn't. i did.
You know for germs you are going to be wiping that thing down constantly because it can't clean itself.
at least i know the source of germs. With people, they lie and tell you that they didn't fuck someone else the night before. That's my point.
you think that's nuts, guess you haven't come across this one yet!

In the video, one guy has 3, with one that's "his favorite", she's his "wife" of 16 years. granted, at least they "look" a bit more human than the lady in your post and her "fiance". Maybe as a wedding gift, she could give him a bit of "skin" to up his "game"! lol
It does make people look really sick, eh......maybe i need to re-think my post...blockchain..
Part of me writes in a free-flow style, just entertaining ideas.......it doesn't mean i am ready to get a sexbot.
the really sort of scary part, if you've ever watched an episode of Humans, is the day you'll be hard-pressed to even tell the difference!
i am looking forward to androids. I would want one, i'm sure.
alrighty, there ya go, cat's out of the bag now! lol
oh, well, it's ok!
i know. I already read about this and have looked at the Real Dolls site in depth.
Only if the robot can go and fill my gas tank, give me spending money, can dance and tell me if my outfit looks good haha wait I have a flesh and bone husband that Does that although he will sometimes lie about my outfits lol
Strange...but the world has gone strange long before...but somehow interesting news
Robots scare me.. lol
interesting and creepy!!!
Hey, if it's all right with her and the robot, it's all right with me. Live and let...well that one hasn't been settled yet but just carry on anyway.
I'd heard about how advanced robotics where getting but I had no idea it had already reached this level. Incredible, thought it would have been years before we would be seeing this. Our world is changing faster and faster it seems. Moore's Law at work perhaps...
yes, it's happening...
Don't what you're all talking about, its totally normal , Not ;OP
She May be Not Satisfied with Humans :) Why not She try to marry Trump ?
Hi @stellabelle. nrajesh47 messaged me that our posts today were similar, but I thought your post was closer to the ideas in a book I read recently - Edison's Eve: A Magical History of the Quest for Mechanical Life: Gaby Wood: 9781400031580: Books - Amazon.ca. You might want to give it a look :)
That sucks for the robot, now the robot is forced to marry her.
This is nasty as fuck, hahaha
With AI and humans getting closer to Singularity, we surely will hear more of these stories. I think we even have to start changing the laws. Also, would we be able to merry in a virtual world will be another one coming up. At some stage the virtual world will be perceived as so real by us, that is doesn't matter anymore where we are to experience a 'real' life. Big changes ahead powered by all the technology; Our cultures, believes and laws need to be adjusted still.
I believe the movie "Her"captures the whole sentiment of future sexuality pretty accurately.
yeap, i need to see that one obviously
oh dear. do it now.
Da Fuk?!?!?
I'm sorry. I just don't get it. Methinks it's much better to love someone that can love you back. Might I recommend a cat for an example?
I am a little shocked, but it's not that surprising really! Reminds of the movie Lars and the Real Girl starring Ryan Gosling! :)
