MINNOW RISING: If You Are A Minnow And Can't Get Upvotes, Learn From A Rising Minnow Star: @sirwinchester

It takes a lot to provoke or impress me. I consider myself to be a critic, a misanthrope when it comes to art, writing and creativity in general. I usually find myself gagging when someone sends me their poetry or half-assed stories. I may appear to be a friendly Orca, but when it comes to art, I'm as cruel as Simon Cowell from American Idol.

I'm continually amazed by the lackluster attempts on this platform. I'm equally appalled by the amount of whining and complaining about no traction. But, I'm a human, and I would have to agree that there exists a mounting problem with supply and demand as far as blog posts go. I do, however, have some solutions for those people who continually see a $0.00 on their reams of blog posts.

I'm going to break things down for you by using the story of @sirwinchester, who happens to be a minnow. He's not an early adopter, an "insider" and he's not colluding with me or anyone else. By the way, "colluding" is an absurd claim, because I am a collaborator. I work with people who like to share and do things together.

@sirwinchester came in alone, I believe with, I'm guessing zero friends, nothing. True, he's an entrepreneur and an artist in the outside world, and he has a following. However, I want you to look at how he managed to provoke me, make me curious and ultimately end up with thousands of dollars on his most recent post. If you look at his posts, you will see that many of them didn't generate money. I think 3 of them did, so 3 out ten is good. And his last post generated the most money and I'll show you why. He's a rising minnow for sure, and I'm following his every move.

Here's the post that generated $2,000: https://steemit.com/steem/@sirwinchester/a-steem-island-adventure-how-the-king-of-the-ocean-destroyed-my-fishing-boat

Ok, let's first start with how he managed to capture my attention in a non-annoying way. Every day I am now bombarded with people who want me to read their posts and upvote them. I am not complaining, as I consider Steemit my place of employment, but it does get a bit tiresome and I don't have time to respond to everything, actually. I am very busy these days, but I'm not an asshole, so I want to help give some tips to help you and this platform succeed.

1. HOW @sirwinchester CAPTURED MY ATTENTION IN A NON-ANNOYING WAY:

He read a Secret Writer post (which everyone knows is my passionate baby) and then wrote the following comment:

"Very inspiring life story - It's amazing how through all of these ups and downs, you still managed to get back up.
But what really shocked me was the fact that when you came to the US, not even Latinos were speaking your native language with you?! They were embarassed.. I can only imagine how that must hurt, especially as a young kid. No wonder this got to you.
So did you finish your College in the end?
For my parents, education has also always been a top priority. It seems like your parents are very good-hearted and hard working people, that really wanted only the best for you.
So all in all, I am very happy to read that you have made it to a better point in your life. Look at it this way: Now that you've seen the bad sides of life, you can appreciate the good aspects even more. So maybe you should see your past as a blessing, and pass your life lesson onto your kids.

And at @stellabelle , this is once again a nice big bait you threw from your fishing Yacht ;) I just wrote a story mentioning you, so you might need to read it to understand this analogy!
https://steemit.com/steem/@sirwinchester/a-steem-island-adventure-how-the-king-of-the-ocean-destroyed-my-fishing-boat"

Let's break down his method:

First, he writes a very lengthy, thought-provoking reaction comment. This shows he cares. He cares about the Secret Writer. Him caring about the Secret Writer makes me care more about him, because I care about the Secret Writers.

Secondly, he has taken the time to write some analogy of me, and has included a tidbit about a yacht. He doesn't say an annoying thing like, "Hey, check out and upvote my post. (I rarely will even check out a post if it's said in this way, that put zero thought into it."

Conclusion: @sirwinchester's thoughtfulness combined with his creativity in giving me hooks like: analogy and a casual, "you might need to read this" approach, make me feel curious, in a non-demanding manner. He's speaking from a position of abundance by giving me the "option" to read his stuff, but he's not desperate. This non-desperate approach is really the reason I followed the link (I rarely follow links in my blog comments.)

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:

  1. Do not appear desperate. (even if you are desperate, you cannot show this. Assume a non-desperate approach)
  2. Operate from a position of abundance and giving people choices.
  3. Use your caring and creativity to pique the curiosity of others.
  4. Don't fake emotions. Use your real emotions to generate ideas and stories.
  5. Pour your soul out.

@sirwinchester's story and how his innate creativity made me an instant fan:

If you analyze @sirwinchester's Steem Island Adventure, you'll quickly realize that he is from a place of immense creativity. His story weaves in humor, tragedy, beauty, reality and personal quirks of the whales and Orcas. And LOVE, let's not forget the love! It's clear that he loved writing this tale and had fun with it! Fun=success!

And, no one that I know of, (yet) has ever weaved in a more amazing story of the Secret Writers. He created a metaphor that is striking and that I may use later for a reward system: the Secret Writers are on my yacht and they are all wearing masks. This is an incredibly artistic and amazing metaphor and as @sirwinchester guessed, it pulled at every heartstring I have inside myself. He knows that the Secret Writer is my baby, it's my raison d'etre and it's the culmination of a long life of trying to find my purpose in the world. The only reason it turned into a business is that Steemit came along. I have severe ADD (i think) and I've failed at the last 5 businesses I tried to create. I think @sirwinchester knew just how passionate I am about the Secret Writer project.

His story was so well-written, and beyond that, so creative, and so full of passion, that I found myself becoming more curious about him. I then looked him up on Instagram, Facebook and everywhere else. I am a person driven by mad curiosity, once someone or something has taken over, I will not stop researching until my eyeballs fall out or I run out of leads. This is both my greatest asset and greatest weakness. It's exactly how I found Steemit though! I am driven by mad impulses one week, only to abandon them entirely the next. Curiosity slave. Creativity slave. They are the same.

Back to @sirwinchester and what really sealed the deal for me in assigning him the RISING MINNOW.
His Rising Minnow status (for me personally, anyway) was achieved not by his Bitcoin millionaire status. No.

His status was sealed in his Instagram writings. Here they are. He is a compassionate, intelligent soul. I'm sure on some subconscious level, his physical beauty is affecting me too. Beautiful, compassionate strong men who possess raw intelligence and creativity are well, how can I say, extremely desirable to me.

Here are his Instagram posts:

There are so many things he has written that really pierced through me, but I will leave you to discover the gems yourself on his Instagram account. The image of him with the snake was really cool too:

I realize people will be harping on the fact that Tony is a talented person already and that he has an advantage because he's already successful. But to discount him in that way, would be a disservice to yourself. Tony's strengths lie in his creativity, compassion and his access to his own imagination. That's why I chose him to be this week's (or month's) rising star. He dances too.......

ps- I wrote to giphy.com to ensure I can safely use gifs on my Secret Writer posts. I'll get back to you on this.
also note: I've got lots of new business ideas for people who are not good writers but who want to make money on Steemit. I'll probably start a new publication called:
STEAL THESE STEEMIT IDEAS (anyone can use the ideas that I put forth on that blog).

Sort:

Thanks for sharing this. I'm new to this platform and am struggling with how to really dive in and get started. I feel like there are so many things I want to put out there. And then it can be like "...wait, what will people think of that tho?" .. "should I be trying to put out some sort of fine-tuned image?"

The money rewards is such a blessing, and such a righteous move from it all being advertising that goes to the centralized websites.. But also a distraction in that it can take you out of your "zone" so to speak if you start thinking about that.

I think it's just a learning curve, getting used to this new way of social media.

What I take from your post.... Is that a maximum of creativity and a maximum of expression is really the best way to use this platform anyways. That there's no "strategy" besides that.. be polite, be genuine.. be NORMAL in how you interact with the other Steemers

Thank you. This is helpful.

The only strategy is to see where you can offer value and present your expression of it. Show yourself as someone that offers value to the community, practice in the comments sections.

If you've found value in the content that someone else has worked hard to present and you can genuinely express that... Thats worth much more to them than your upvote, you'll be remembered for it.

Focus on your process, improving your writing, contributing to others, not the outcomes. It's all about the journey, offering value and lifting people up.

This is one of the few places in social media where genuine expression is more important than social validation.

I like that. Thanks. I feel so inspired right now, lol.

so true.

Agree with every word there!

The more you become yourself and really start enjoying yourself, the more others will enjoy you too. If you are looking for inspiration, then look at this. @roelandp is my main inspiration here:
https://steemit.com/beauty/@roelandp/the-first-steemit-male-makeup-tutorial-bringing-youtubers-to-steemit-roelandp-is-back

I think people are not used to the idea that being themselves is a good thing. Steemit rewards creativity, helpfulness and intelligence. It does not reward half-assed attempt. Going for it, being a nice person will get you a long ways in here. It's like social media 3.0....the future, baby, the future! Or, you can just be your weird self like @klye or @fyrstikken! WEIRD IS GOOD!

Ya! THATS AWESOME!! It really rewards genuine interaction, whereas like YouTube can be more about clickbaiting and creating drama and tactics like that .. on here that would get sniffed out cause when you have steempower you don't want to reward people who are being jerks and doing that weird stuff, and it's all about just giving real content.

Wow, I was just scrolling through Steemit and then saw my own face next to your article! I'm totally surprised and so honored by this post. thank you for taking the time to write such a long post about me. It's crazy to me, to think that you put so much effort in an analysis of me and my small story here on steemit. The most important part of Steemit for me is to have an outlet for my creativity, and to have a place where I can write down my thoughts and put my feelings into words to manifest it.
A person who's never met me has probably never given me this much credit before and I appreciate this 200% :)

Before I was writing the story, I was reading some of your secret writer posts (which are trending every evening), and I was imagining how your team and your boat would look like in my story. The Yacht and people with masks were what came to my mind immediately. I'm glad that I could make you happy with that idea!

I enjoy your content very much. I don't have to say anything about your writing skills and creativity, I will just say: Queen of Steem!

I'm really happy that you were surprised and found yourself on the Steemit feed! That makes me so happy that I could impact you in that way. You did it though, with that story which was so funny and original. Your quotes though are what really got me. I write sort of philosophical stuff like that all the time, and so I recognize where it's coming from.

Addicts never cease to be addicts. They only change their source of pleasure from destructive to constructive. (I'm an addict, I've just ceased to use drugs.....happiness and pleasing people is my new drug.)
I want to learn how to make gifs. Can you help me?

Not sure about queen status, but artist will do fine:

Again, thanks so much for your kind words!
I love quotes as well, and chose every one especially for that picture. I'm happy you can find so much inspiration from it.

You can make your own gif very easily. for example, visit giphy.com and upload a video of your choice there (must be shorter than 15 seconds) and it will be turned into a GIF that you can download. you can also create a gif from a slideshow of pictures, for example at gifcreator.me :)

I am glad that you've noticed this post.

Admiration is the word that comes to my mind. Respect for the way how you both are able to express yourself, reach to others and touch them. And respect :)

I am looking forward to reading your stories very much.

@sirwinchester I read and upvoted your post last night before going to bed but I was too tired to comment on it then. Your story was 100% pure awesomeness! Great job Sir, it looks like you've gone viral! ;-)

Great! I was enchanted with his post yesterday and I wished I could give him more than one upvote.. Its no wonder you liked his creativity too....

Thumbs up on the new publication...And looking forward to see the idea goodies bag..... I guess we need to create an idea machine tag..

Btw, shdnt altucher be on steemit already?

wow thank you so much for your feedback, glad you liked it!

You're a great storyteller man. Looking forward to more awesomeness.

I guess Altucher has his reasons for not coming in here. I don't know what those are......Thanks, I'm glad to know you liked his post as much as me! He's a real talent!

Thank you again @stellabelle; it is refreshing that an accomplished "steemer" like yourself has both the time and inclination to support up and coming talent. You are really taking the concept of community to another level!! Awesome!!

I was forced to do this as I saw that more and more minnows were displaying their hatred, fear, and despair by complaining about my and others' success on this platform. But it is a much harder game now than before (and I predicted this 2 months ago). I knew it would harder to stand out later, so I kicked my ass in high gear and began mass experimentation with posts, to see what would happen.)
The system is definitely in favor of originality, and it's not an easy formula to understand. It's confusing to people especially since we are used to schools to tell us what to write. There's randomness and also luck involved, but I think persistence and creativity are the two most important assets to focus on.

Agreed, I've not really attained the "giddy" height of success that you have achieved; congratulations to you and you're hard work is really paying off. Success has got to be worked at and once you have achieved that success it's even more difficult to maintain that continued level too!!
Well done and thank you again for your support and encouragement; it's is very well accepted and incredibly welcome.

Yay, I was so glad to see you recommending Unsplash! I was a bit consumed yesterday with the idea that many new peeps were kind of unwittingly shooting themselves in the foot by using copyrighted material without realizing, so I put out in the steemit universe several sites I found which were promising and had a Creative Commons Zero license. I'm addicted to new writers so I thought I could help people find resources to promote their creativity (and my reading enjoyment) in a legit way, so we can focus on content and not copyright. Not everyone is a photographer, but everyone has a story, and deserves to tell it.

I think I've figured out what it is that draws me to your work. You like to express your art through synergy and empathy, and you have a genuine appreciation for community. Right now the community is a bit muddied with the noise about fairness and what content deserves what, so how did you decide that this was the right time to introduce Minnow Rising?

I will let you into my secret.
@prufarchy You have asked the right questions today. Have you found the black swan yet?
Finding the black swan is a key to the next layer. The key to getting more answers.
Find it.
Oracles follow curiosity.

If i remember correctly, you have mentioned the black swan before on another post, havent you @stellabelle :) i need to go back and find it!

yes, and not one person has figured it out yet.

Synchronicity kicked in the same day you asked me what it meant to me, personally. I've come across several references to it in my environment because I've been sensitive to it, and it's been simmering.

I found a deep resonance in the idea that a black swan is 'not possible' proven false. A black swan destroys assumption and is the great shaker that moves society along. For better and/or worse, they're the systemic shock that brings change, and they're rare.

stellabelle...
'noth... said!

That's brilliant! Thanks for sharing another creative user that is blazing his own trail and making a big splash (as big a splash as a minnow can make). We should all learn from what you said though. I myself originally thought all I had to do was beg some whales for attention and comment on their content. Not only is that selfish of me, it doesn't provide any real value and there are enough other people asking for views with a simple link attached (I'm guilty of this too). I don't want the steemit comment section to become what I have been calling "link spam." People posting links that have nothing to do with the article is selfish (regardless of the quality of work) @sirwinchester creativity caught your attention because he didn't do what everyone else has done in begging. I will definitely add him to my follow list and to those minnows who are complaining in posts about a rigged system, I urge you to spend time coming up with something creative that catches the eye and you may also be rewarded with a post from an influential person because you add something different that has not been seen before. Having @stellabelle approval is very important, because as the only 9 her reputation is very important and she won't put up with bullshit. A recommendation from her truly means you have done something great. I'm excited to see more from this aspiring minnow (who is now past me in terms of steem power) I'm not jealous, it just makes me want to strive for a more creative unique way to display my passions and heart through posts. There is plenty of money for many to be successful. Keep that kick ass content coming!

thank you, and keep it up my fellow minnow! In no time you will become a dolphin if you continue posting quality work ;)

Thank you sir! It's nice to be in this aquatic journey with a fellow creative spirit. I will definitely take the time to go back and read through your articles when time permits.

simply awesome. all of it.

your breakdown of what about his approach caught your attention. the open admiration & appreciation. his stuff.

a truly inspiring piece, through-and-through. :-)

(and great tips on those free picture sites.)

thanks! I feel like you and I are old friends, since we were on steemit in early days! It's funny isn't it, but soon, there will be millions, I bet. We will see this idea morph into our new lives, and I look forward to the changes.
Steemit is different every day, hence the addictiveness!

Very inspiring story - It's amazing how through all of these up and downvotes, you still managed to find @sirwinchester's buried gem.
But what really shocked me was the fact that he made so much money off it. I can only imagine how much visibility it must have had. No wonder this got to you.
So you think he will keep up the quality in the future?
For me, producing quality content has also always been a top priority. It seems like you are very good-hearted and hard working and really want only the best for your fellow steemians.
So all in all, I am very happy to read that you have discovered sirwinchester's writings. Look at it this way: Now that you've discovered one minnow, you can appreciate the rest of us even more. So maybe you should see your past as a blessing, and pass your life lesson onto your kids.

As for me, @stellabelle, I'm kind of in the same boat as @sirwinchester . The only difference is, my gems have not yet been discovered.
I never wrote a story mentioning you, so you might need to read my post history to understand the analogy.
https://steemit.com/@orly/posts

AM I DOING IT RIGHT?

I think you did it right ;) you have my upvote

This is great, showing a good example and explaining the good points can really help other users that are feeling discouraged and really struggling to get a good start. I'm sure that a lot of people will try to follow the good example that @sirwinchester has already set, without trying to copy him too much.

I hope that more of the "big fish", as you may call users like you, shared such posts that can actually help people understand what is important and give a good example how to do things here on steemit.com in order to get noticed and have a good start on their experience and not get frustrated and stop using and leave the platform because of that.

I for sure haven't given up and will continue to try and be a helpful member of the steemit community as much as I can and like I have been so far, or at least I hope I have been... :)

There is just one important thing to note that some people may not be even thinking about, and that is the fact that there are quite a lot of people here, including myself, that are trying to write in English, but for whom this is not their native language and thus they may not be great at it. I’m getting the feeling that the treatment for everyone here that does not write in his native language, but is trying to write in not so good English is the same ("Oh! This person is bad at writing, don't bother with him, find somebody that can write properly.")... just something for the people that have English as a native language to think about.

I too felt the power and strength of @sirwinchester . One of his first posts was "The hidden power inside yourself: How to achieve your goals by Visualization". Great post. He gives you information without pushing it on you and he gives you feedback with being condesending . He seems to care and it comes through in his writings. You picked a winner in @sirwinchester.

yeah, he has many lessons to share with others. It appears that he has achieved a lot in his life so far. I feel that I can learn things from him, and I think that's why I chose him. He's a teacher, a great asset here. Honestly, if his Instagram quotes hadn't been so fucking inspirational, I may not have chosen him! The "Bitcoin Millionaire" title was actually a turn-off for me. It took more digging for me to find the golden gems inside of him!

I would love to spend a day just looking through your art photos gifs etc. Never cease to amaze me with what you come up with! I wish I was an artistic genius like that.

thank you so much for your amazing feedback. I really do appreciate it!!

@Stellabelle - I am so very impressed that you took the time to highlight someone new and wrote an in-depth piece about him! It gives me hope that others will be discovered. Nothing appeals to a creative person more than recognition. I think that's part of the reason I love this platform. As for myself, I keep low expectations because I write what comes to mind. It's what I do. Anything beyond that is gravy.

As for @sirwinchester - I'll be following his blog and looking for him on instagram as well. Thank you for your recommendations and ideas.

you are welcome!

Thank you yet again. This lengthy introduction to Tony is worth reading to the last word. As is his beautiful story. I am sorry that I missed it yesterday but you saved me from my ignorance .)

Yes, some people have **Talent **. It is how you put this talent to use that makes a distinction! Tony knows how. You know too.

The rest of us - we try and learn and improve, step by step. Patience is a virtue.

By the way - you can toss any of your spare ideas my way. I will catch them and act on them. Thanks a lot in advance.

I toss my spare ideas to fisherman who are ready to catch.

thanks for your kind words! :)

Funny thing how life works, little effort sometimes pay big results and much effort is overlooked! I really took much pride in using my thoughts today in writing I feel a post worthy of views and yet again not hardly any comments. I don't focus on the money but geez not any of you great writers reading and leaving comments? Fk the money, I really desire feedback when I post to become better at writing and it seems my posts are at the bottom of the barrel. Any way nice share I read that guys material earlier and I'm happy he got exposure!

Congratz on being the first person with a rep of 9! Thats a huge accomploshment! I love your posts stella! Keep up the good work.

well, i've been calling myself a social media artist for over ten years, starting with Friendster->Myspace->Facebook->Medium.......so I guess all that 10 years of work is finally paying off in some way.....

I first heard of you in @infovore's articles. You seem cool. Thank you!

Wow!!! Just terrific @stellabelle, thanks for let us know your great analogy, now I have more ideas about my next post!!! in this post I found differents mistakes in my lasts posts, for that reason I will open my soul for the new ideas, and just will fluid my intelect.... is not easy, but I always say:

The Sky is not the limit, the limits are in ours minds

For this reason, I will search more about my skills, I really love the coffee, can you please advise me about how to write my next post?

Really thanks for everything!!! Greetings from #Steemitcolombia Team.

@stellabelle you truly an amazing person. One thing that annoys me here on Steemit is that most people seem to be experts in respective fields, some are experts in programming, others are Phd doctors, I'm an Industrial Engineering student, I mentioned this in my #introduceyousrself and planned to post about the various courses we take at the university, but since I didn't get upvotes , I didn't post anything, and it annoys me. I want to be a part of this community, I want to succeed as an early adopter, I hate seeing people join in months after me and in a single day their content gets upvoted big time. Forgive my folks, but I had to say it, I feel much better now

Hey Stellabelle,

I really enjoyed reading this post. Your advice is totally spot on, not just for Steemit but for life in general. With regards to people complaining about not making much profit, I think much of the frustration is down to people thinking they can something for nothing. I hope to read more posts like this. If you're interested in self- improvement, I can give you a shout when I start publishing articles on the topic. At the moment, I'm still trying to familiarise myself with the platform.

Best,

Adam

Thanks for your comments. Yeah, it takes a while to learn how it all functions. It took me about a week or two to figure out stuff.

Does the @stellabelle actually get anyone's attention? Does it show up in a feed somewhere? I don't understand why people do that.

Before we moved to RocketChat, I was getting notifications sent to me through steemwatch.com. But as far as I can tell there is no webhook API for RocketChat, so that doesn't work. I'm sure mentions will be built out as part of steemit in the future.

Thanks @bacchist
I thought it was a dormant feature. I guess it can catch the eye of you are strollin down comments. I think it's easierto reply to one of their post.

I don't understand your question.

@stellabelle - he's asking if someone tags you in a comment/reply (like I did at the beginning of this), do you get a notification somewhere that will draw you back to read the comment?
Like the way tagging works in Facebook. Someone drops @stellabelle in their comment and it shows up on your home page and in your notifications.
Hope that helps!

Wow this is the nicest and longest Shoutout I've ever read. I'm happy my first mentor and dance coach for 7 years is getting the recognition he deserves here on STEEMIT. He's a truly inspiring person and I even wrote a post about him a week ago that didn't get any recognition
https://steemit.com/money/@mrs.steemit/5-things-my-first-mentor-taught-me-besides-dance-etc-news

Anyway @stellabelle thank you for your support, the secret-writer and in general you contribution on this platform. When watching your video where you introduced your community and talked about yout daughter, you in a way reminded me of my single-mom who raised me by herself with all her strength and I can tell you now your daughter when she gets older will be so thankful to have you and everything you've done for her, children don't care or feel if you have money or not, but they feel the love and later understand the sacrifices of a mother.
You are awesome, your writing skills are on point and the content is very valuable :) I'm still working on my english writing skills and would appreciate a feedback of you on future posts of mine. Best regards from Germany, xoxo- Uma aka Mrs.Steemit :)

OH, wonderful! This place has helped me feel good again. Years of depression and anxiety, well, it appears that I have gotten out of the bad, dark place through writing.......Self-publishing my first book, Un-Crap Your Life, was the thing that gave me the key! Thanks for your comments and I checked out those videos. Which one are you? blonde hair woman or brunette? Your next post, talk about your life, go deep.....post photos, that's my advice.

That's awesome! I'm the brunette and I already wrote some in depth posts about myself. My first post was a great success: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@mrs.steemit/the-journey-of-a-young-business-woman-part-1-10-random-facts-about-me

After that Post I wrote some more about me and my background:
https://steemit.com/personal/@mrs.shttps://steemit.com/personal/@mrs.steemit/the-journey-of-a-young-business-woman-part-1-the-value-of-somethingteemit/the-journey-of-a-young-business-woman-part-1-the-value-of-something

And my latest post that I just posted is about my exchange year in Connecticut, USA
https://steemit.com/travel/@mrs.steemit/living-the-american-dream-for-a-year-the-best-year-of-my-life

Thank you for taking the time to read this and caring! I appreciate it :)

Thank you for sharing this information to those of us who are less known and are learning a bit more every day on #steemit. I especially like the idea you have to help us with "new business ideas" for those of us who are not good writers. I love reading your secret-writer stories and love the fact you started that and have it available for people to express their emotions and sharing their secrets. It helps a lot to tell someone, especially when you can remain anonymous and read commentary and how people react to those stories. So thank you for doing that @stellabelle Furthermore, your writing makes it so easy and good to read, that i always look forward to see what you have written.

I laughed so hard when you said 'take a non-desperate approach' . I'm glad that you are taking the time to show us the rising minnows.

Good work!
The main question is, at what poitn does one become desperate? And when do you decide to call him so?
I mean wher is the line between promo and desperate?

Lets say, i see that my posts collect upvotes, but no money. I would then assume that this is where i need to advertise myself in front of the whales.

But i dont think it would make me desperate, as then i understand that the content i write is fine.

Only 3 tags? If we're going for a crowd, why not have a party?

Stealing implies ownership of the ideas, how's that gonna work stella? Will you give refunds if an idea is a flop?

This is exactly what minnows like me need. I don't want to be annoying. I don't want to waste someone's time. Face to face, I know exactly how to avoid those pitfalls. But this site (and actually all social media) is really new to me so there will be a learning curve. This info helped. Instead of simply getting pissed and screaming "leave me alone" you gave examples of replacement behaviors. That is damn good teaching.

Very inspiring post and very nicely written. I love it when creative people get together and push each other to new levels.

That's a great story. I read this whole dialogue. Obviously, @sirwinchester deserves the attention and recognition. It's obvious to me that he spent a lot of effort, before he became what he became in life and in Steemit in particular. Therefore, such recognition is a natural result of labor and talent.

And, @stellabelle, you know, I see you as Big Mama. In a good way. I mean that warm feeling that you make me feel. A Big Woman with a Big Heart. I have rarely met such women in my life. But they always gave me that feeling of home. And I am pleased to realize that the head of Steemit community blogges is now such a big soul. It is a blessing for this project. Thus this community has all the chances to turn into a big family one day. And I hope it will happen!

These are going to be really helpful to people who feel like they are floundering here, or can't succeed doing what they want. I'm excited to see more of your entrepreneurial Steemit ideas. You are the first, and likely the only person here looking at Steemit as a business platform, rather than a lucrative blogging platform. Good job.

Thanks Trevor! How has Steemit been to you so far?

It has been pretty good. I've had a slow period over the last week or so, but I know I'll get back at it!

Thank you @stellabelle This post reminds all of us that comments are as important as post in many ways!

Awesome post! I am tempted to post the link to my latest post, but holding out... ;)

You not posting your link makes me curious about your link that you didn't post.

It was curiosity that killed that cat, no?

Twas just another excellent but blah post about how to make more money on Steemit, and I wagered you would have been mildly insulted. I'll save your indulgence for a post that's worth it. ;)

Lovely chatting!

Thank you for sharing this. There is definitely a learning curve to Steemit, and I'm hoping to get the hang of it. I like the idea of you doing a publication of ideas. I have some of my own that I will eventually be posting on, but I'm not sure if people will be interested. It is my hope to create innovative posts that others read, so that I can interact with people on topics that excite me.

As a new person here I have to say this was one of the more informative posts explaining the dynamics of how things work here (on the social level anyway; I still don't understand all the powering up and down stuff, but I'm letting it come as I need to know it). Thanks

Very good ..I swear this is the best post i have seen with full explanation i dislike the You tube videos promoting channels with millions who are converting from a larger channels i like the fact that your being honest and explaining in detail and promoting another person at the same time. Kudos!

@stellabelle Thank you very much for making this post, it really encou- rages us Minnows to keep Steemin', but in a thoughtful and better way thanks to these recommendations. Truly, being unique and true to ourselves is the key for reaching a greater following and enlightment.

Steemit has made me begin writing, and in my 22 years of life i've never done so. It really is hard for me to post articles everyday, perhaps be- cause I'm a starter. What I do is think of a very important topic, make a concept for a post and then invest my time and soul to fill the post with quality content that aligns with my two main focuses for writing in Steemit: entrepreneurship posts and Discovering Mexico posts.

I would greatly welcome your feedback on my posts regarding these two topics. (You can also visit Mexico one day haha!)
