By the way, my friends and I were punk rockers in the late 1970s. We were a bit nihilistic, but I for one always had hope. I always remained optimistic.

Annihilation is by far the most common of all forms of the word annihilate , which is why I opted for that particular form. The verb annihilate normally refers to the complete destruction of a large object or group of people, but a new fashion has arisen of using annihilate to mean "completely defeat someone in an argument or debate (through superior logic, mastery of all relevant facts etc."

annihilate, nihilism, nil, nihilist

  1. He vowed to wage a war of annihilation against his country's enemies.

  2. Materialism ultimately leads to nihilism and a total rejection of the necessity for moral standards.

  3. Although their initial demands seem quite reasonable, we must realize that they are part of a larger nihilist agenda.
