The Reports from the Witnesses 2018-04-15

in #witness-category7 years ago

The Reports from the Witnesses aims to provide the community with a summary of what all the witnesses have been up to. Every week, I collect all of the reports from the individual witnesses and assemble them into a single aggregated report. New witness announcements and witness suspension announcements are included in the report as well.

Witnesses can continue posting their posts to the witness-category and/or witness-update tags, and I will assemble everything I find there. If I miss any reports, just let me know and I will correct it. If you want to direct message me a report via chat, that is fine too.

Historic Reports from the Witnesses can be found here:
https://steemit.com/created/reportsfromthewitnesses

So without further ado, I bring you the sixty ninth edition of 'Reports from the Witnesses'!

Some Notes:

  • Many witnesses do not report every week, and prefer to only report when they have updates.
  • I recommend that you include communication as one of your criteria for evaluating witnesses, but keep in mind - it is not the only criteria. There are some witnesses that prefer to work "behind the scenes", and do not do much as far as reports.
  • For witnesses that are not currently posting any reports, I would encourage you to provide the community with at least some insight into what you are currently working on :)

Remember to vote for witnesses!

Thanks for posting this. As the new curie witness operator, I will, with the help of the curie community, post more updates on what we are up to in terms of technical operations going forward.

Great! Just be sure to use either the witness-category or witness-update tag (or both) when you do your posts, so I will include them in this weekly report.

I am being repeatedly denied my privileges of funds transfers and even from being able to vote.
These are what I Get when I try to transfer funds:

RPCError: plugin exception:Account: stimialiti bandwidth limit exceeded. Please wait to transact or power up STEEM.

and

Transaction broadcast error.

I have almost 60SP and I noticed that users with less SP managed to send during the time when I can not.
Does bandwidth depend only in SP?
What is its recharge rate, or is it monotonically increasing?
What should I do to recharge it the fastest, and what wastes it the most?
Picture view? Picture upload? Vote? Transfer/send? Does a receiver of a send also pay with bandwidth?
Does an account view through a blockchain explorer or an interactive interface also waste bandwidth?

It did help to some extent, but is not detailed enough quantitatively

Your available bandwidth is based on your usage over the past 7 days. It is a factor of: 1. your usage over the past week 2. the amount of SP you have 3. how busy the network is at the current point in time.

You can see your current bandwidth at steemd.com/@stimialiti

You would have to dig into the code to see exactly how much each operation costs. I do not have the answer to that.

Viewing does not cost anything. It only charges for transactions that you submit to the blockchain. Pictures are not stored in the blockchain - only the URLs are, so they should not have a very big effect.

It is very good to know that they are publishing the witnesses and I see that you put on the list to @valorforfreedom and @intelliwitness two great people very kind and great.

Thanks for this, ideal. I'm currently researching all the things that make a great Steemit witness. Lots to learn and apply to good use!

Thank you, I will :)

This initiative is very interesting.

Now we can see all the proposals and choose the one that best serves us.

I leave a suggestion to create a platform for this purpose.

Thanks for the support

You encourage witnesses to publish reports weekly or monthly? I think you are saying it is encouraged, the more the better. I am thinking about becoming a witness someday. Are witnesses required to start projects or to help with projects? I am guessing maybe not required but encouraged and I see that witnesses helped with applications for example, like Dtube, Dlive, Dtube, maybe even Busy.org, and others, I am guessing. That is good. Thanks for sharing. I'm Oatmeal.

Here is a guide with some info:
https://steemit.com/witness-category/@timcliff/guide-to-being-a-good-witness

Technically nothing is “required” but there are lots of things you can do to be a “good” witness vs. a “bad” one :)

@TimCliff, thanks for the link about how to be a better witness. Thanks.

That is not my bot. Why would you think it is mine?

every time I see new witnesses committed to improving our community, very interesting initiative, congratulations to the new witnesses in particular by @markangeltrueman, thank you for being part of the improvements of the steemit community. and thanks to @timcliff for always keeping us updated.

Hi @timcliff. I know you <3 Steemit, and understand it's in bad taste to post unrelated links in the comments, But I want to let you know about this scam. Just trying to bring it to the attention of whales.

Hey @timcliff! I just started searching for witnesses to find out who I wanted to vote for. I wanted to let you know I just put in my first vote, and I voted for you! Keep up the good work. :)
