Yesterday I attended the HiveBeeCon meetup in Krakow along with over 30 40 Hivers. Our day started off with a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine in the morning. 19 of us went, but that shall be for another post.
The Kingdom
After Wieliczka we went to The Kingdom for our gathering.
I think the best way to describe The Kingdom is a community. It's run by @hallman
@hallmann and personally I think the ethos behind it runs deeper than the physical venue, which itself is a ultra awesome place. I wish I took more photos of the place because it's so cool. Hopefully the few I did manage to take will give you an idea of the vibe. We even got to read the latest edition of the HiQ Magazine hot from Hivefest Rosarito thanks to @m31 and @lemony-cricket.
My favourite part of the venue is this big wardrobe by the kitchen on the left and toilet on the right. It's a logical place for people to hang their coats and bags. Or so I thought.
Except I couldn't be more wrong!! I opened the wardrobe door and it took me into another world. And I'm not joking!!!
The wardrobe door is a secret passage to another room where you can chill out, have a drink, chat and read or play a game of novuss.
Laurence, the guy in white (I know I spelt his name wrong) Lorenzo came and taught us how to play it properly. Laurence(I forgot his username) but not active. and I was told he has some really good insight into finance and economics, a much needed view from the real professionals on Hive instead of those who generate AI posts to milk upvotes. I think it's great that people who aren't necessarily active in chain are still very much part of the community off chain.Novuss is a board game like billiards and is a national sport of Estonia and Lativa. I shall be visiting both countries soon. I played a game of novuss with Mr @delishtreats (the guy in black) and we made up the rules as we went along because we had no idea how to play. Later on in the evening, Lorenzo is an Italian working in Krakow, he's @lpa on Hive
Meeting old and new friends
The best part of meetups are of course meeting people. I was so happy to see two of my dear friends again, @zirochka and @delishtreats whom I met at HF in Amsterdam last year
Along with @gandalf. None of this would have happened had it not been for him.
@priyanarc I also met last year in Amsterdam, and @mipiano, I'm so happy to meet her at last.

@ph1102, it's great to see both of them together this year.
When we arrived, there were some other people that I didn't know or recognise, but turns out we have crossed paths on the chain before. For example, @jocieprosza. Initially I didn't recognise the name, until he mentioned my postcard exchange. Then I remembered! He was the user who collected stamps and we had exchanged postcards earlier this year. He was there with his wife and his adorable two year old son who's English is better than my Polish 😂. I had a great time playing with the kid. Turns out his wife (the dad not the kid) is also on Hive as @asia-pl. I have seen the username in the past and always wondered why a Polish person uses Asia in their username because for me, Asia is a continent. Turns out Asia is a nickname for Joanna in Polish! I would have never guessed that!
One person I recognised was @evelynchacin who is from Venezuela and I have curated her content from Pinmapple in the past. Then she went quiet for a while (at least on Pinmapple) and some months later she appeared in Poland with her partner and a baby bump. Evelyn is so sweet, and is due to give birth at the end of the month. You can see her baby bump is quite large already. Can't wait to hear of the good news.
Another prospective parent I met is @phortun, he caught an 8 hour train from Prague to attend HiveBeeCon leaving again the next day. I'm so glad he made it as I've been communicating with him on chain for a while, it's always very nice to meet friends in real life.
Evening entertainment
HiveBeeCon doesn't have any presentation, it's more of a get together. I think that's a lot more valuable as we never have enough time to mingle with people.
The highlight of the evening is a piano performance by @mipiano. But before that @growandbow (right below)found a guitar and soon he was jamming away with someone else who I didn't get a chance to meet. I'm guessing they haven't met before either, so I think it's just amazing how two strangers can just get together and start play music together. So much talent on Hive.
Finally it was @mipiano's turn. I'm surprised she said she was nervous as I know she often performs in public. The difference she says, is when she performs in public she doesn't know the people so there's no pressure. But here we all know each other. Ok, I get her point, but she really didn't have to worry at all. It was a superb performance.
For an hoc event, I think we had a very good turnout, in total over 30 40 people attended. You can see the full list in the post below as well as a group photo. Hopefully we will get to see more meetups on Hive.

Livinguktaiwan, the strange games follow you hahaha... I remembered a post where you wanted to beat the little prodigy, without knowing how to play.
So she was nervous... I'm sure she relaxed afterwards if she plays that piano beautifully.
I get very excited when there is a Hivers reunion. I felt the same with the HiveFest, I watched all the broadcasts and read many posts about it.

I read it with a big smile on my face. It's amazing - because I've lived it - how Hive brings people together. When you see them for the first time a very family-like connection is established. Well congratulations to @evelynchacin on the upcoming arrival of her baby. I really enjoy @delishtreats posts that I recently discovered. BTW I just realized I had missed that castle, sometimes I don't get a heads up from my secretary. I already have her threatened to fire her. Nice to see @mipiano and @ph1102 together.

Yes, in fact I enjoyed a lot that little concert though it was not easy in some moments. It's not the same to play for people we don't know and on the other side for people we already feel like being part of a great family, like Hive is 😇
Just mention you are a perfectionist and all will understand. I know this feeling a lot. Though I usually am nervous before, but not during. I suppose before is still thinking: Everything will go wrong. While during: We can't prep anymore. Not that I prep myself with the stuff that makes me nervous like presentations for a larger group can make me nervous. But you know, as I experienced many times, peeps listening to my presentations know so much less. Am pretty sure that is the same with your piano playing and all: You know so much more than most of the listeners.

I know, I know everything, in theory. And then the moment comes, and there are times my heart doesn't even speed up, so calm I am. When I can play on "autopilot" mode. But other times, my fingers just don't want to listen to me. It's not the fingers but the mind that focuses on the surroundings (people, expectations, who listens to me, light, noise, any distraction) and not on music. I did this exercise (countless times) - when I cut off everything else and my mind has to "place" every note in its place and it works. It comes out perfectly, but then again... the control over that mind is the tricky part as the distractions (to repeat: people, expectations etc) make my mind weak in those moments 🤷♀
Anyway, Mr Piano made one recording, just one and I listened to it today. For the first time since one week. Maybe, just maybe it could be even posted on the chain 🤓 I am at peace now with those "not written" notes hahaha
You know, stuff can be eaten or smoked to get you reminded to be 'in' the music, to concentrate better. That stuff from the Spanish Member Clubs should work.

I am so happy to see you again and many others. I felt like I was meeting my Hive family once again. Poland has always been special to me, and I am biased when it comes to visiting Poland. Visiting the kingdom was exceptional, I will visit the kingdom again because I am planning to go to Katowice soon. We finally got the chance to talk more because, in the last Hivefest, we couldn't interact more with each other. Even walking on the street of Krakow with you was a special moment for me, I admire our connection and bonding. I am glad that you finally get to know Asia and Bombell. I hope you will plan to come to the Netherlands soon so that we can meet again somewhere in Holland.
It's great that you're getting around more Priyan, and catching up with people who means so much to you. The world is actually a lot smaller than we think, and we always discover and make new relationships.

Yes, we did go back to Berlin. We arrived yesterday evening. We had a long but good trip by car because of clear highways.

Too bad we had to come back early :( and didn't enjoy @mipiano's great concert but you see, it's a big belly and it was a hard party haha. Exciting to put faces to names you meet online, looked a great event to attend being very casual, also interesting to see people making moves to meetups once again.
This was quite an ad hoc meetup that only started a few weeks ago, and it's lovely how many people came, both from abroad and across Poland
Looked to be fun, relaxed type of meet-up, some work some play lots of sharing.

Wow, It's nice to read things like this. I also just read the orientation that a Hiver posted here that happened in the North side of Cebu, Philippines. These are really happy feelings. Last week I saw someone in the mall I'm sure she is a Hiver but I just don't want to mention its name I wanted to approach her but I'm shy maybe she didn't recognize me so it's really better if there's more so it's not too awkward.😁
It seems there are quite a lot of meetups the Philippines, highly recommend to join one if there is one near you.
Maybe that Hiver would have loved to meet another Hiver in real life as well! Maybe she's like me, when I'm out, I'm not very observant of people around me. Just recently my husband had to tell me my sister was at the other side of the super market, I failed to see her!

That really happens sometimes, sometimes others think we have an attitude because we don't even say Hi but in reality we just don't see them. Maybe ma'am (Hiver I encounter) didn't really recognise me that's why she didn't notice me either. I’ll just say Hi first the next time I’ll see her.😄

Nice to see the photos of some of the users in this great platform. Also learnt somethings about some that I didn't know. Maybe one of these days I will get the time to experience a Hive get together. Must be great to engage and not be behind a screen.
I think there's been a few meetups in America, but with the country being so big, it could be quite a journey for some. But if you find anyone nearby, it's always nice to do a meetup, even if it's two or three of you.
I can understand that from East to West it can make a big difference in travel. Perhaps I'll find more in my region as I branch out some more here.

Glad we got to meet so many people at such a cool place. Gotta push lorenzo to bring more to the chain, and I think he is ready, and has finally understood why "hive" and "community" are always interchangeable.

I think it just shows how much people enjoy meetups on Hive even if they can't be present, and it's a rare chance to see faces to names
The place is impressive, the company is exquisite and besides the talks they could have, I can see that they had a great time in the activities to share laughter. I am also glad that music was present, without music it would not have been the same. I really enjoy seeing these pictures, I respect and admire them, it is good to see that the ties are strengthened and to see people from so many nations united for peaceful purposes. I think these gatherings make the virtual world of Hive more real. These names have physical bodies and existence.

And true, the Kingdom is awesome. Please help me in pushing @ph1102 to create such a place in Spain. I was already on his case last Monday. For some reason, he didn't try the same on me, for Amsterdam, or somewhere in NL.
Hmmm... I didn't drink vodka in Krakow and I remember that conversation very well... 😃 While I do agree that it's a better idea to create a Kingdom close to the sunny beach (than the rainy beach 😂), I did say that you should do it in Amsterdam... and I will support that with all my heart... if I get the official Ambassador place in Spain... 😂
