Observing Self

in The MINIMALISTlast year (edited)

A recent tragedy, which I'll talk about someday, has made me consider taking photographs whenever I meet with friends. So, here I am after Sunday lunch with my friend Angie. It was lovely to see her and her husband, who were passing through town.
Angie and I both love orange, so I made sure to go red today, and also because I wasn't feeling my usual chirpy self and needed a stimulant.

As exciting as it was to meet up with friends, this will be my last regular Sunday lunch for the time being, as I'm planning to start attending yoga classes on Sundays. The reason is that at this time of year, especially, I must prioritise my well-being by doing what makes me happiest. I've been researching the studio and discovered that the teacher does classes in nearby towns throughout the week, and on Sundays, she's here in my town, so that should be an easy enough wrap-up-warm 45-minute trek to the studio.

"Yoga adds another dimension of colour to my life, and my body has been calling for it."

Therefore, I'll share my progress with my classes as soon as I start.

Time evades us, and today, when I reviewed some photos, I realised that it's been a year since I was making plans for going to Jamaica. So, I reflected on how I feel about myself now compared to then.

I feel like I've grown personally since then; I'm more confident in my decision-making, in better control of and a better understanding of my emotions and what triggers them, and I feel like I'm at a good place in my life where I'm able to empathise and show compassion without feeling like I need to fix others problems for them.

I'm feeling good, with a sense of calmness, and I've become more attuned to recognising others' nervous energies that I do not allow in.

Even though I've been slack with the physical side of my holistic practices of yoga and qigong, I do feel the mental and psychological benefits from these therapies. So, I will make the necessary tweaks with the physical strength and resistance training to improve my overall health.

My mind was unsettled, but I feel better now for writing this because I know I will follow through.

I make an effort to live an active and healthy life, yet I feel many changes in my body, which I think would be worse if I were neglectful, and it signals to me that caring is not in vain.

My body and mind need to be in harmony. I'm getting good rest, eating healthy meals, and feeling good emotionally, so a few yoga classes should propel me deeper into my practice.

I generally prefer exercising outdoors, and with yoga, I need a physical setting that's calming to the mind. So, a studio should be good for a push-start.
Going into the woods during the winter for exercise is unnerving, but I think some short half-hour sessions would be beneficial in addition to these classes that I will attend once a week.

I'm already optimistic about documenting these plans, so I will contact the studio to register for the first free trial class, which I think is a positive initiative for the teacher. It shows that she cares to have her sessions mutually beneficial for herself and her clients. I'm enthusiastic about this prospect, and these mindful goals have made me feel more streamlined.

Is there anything that has been plaguing your mind or that you've been procrastinating that you'd like to share?

Whatever that tragedy that you mentioned implies, you're obviously dealing with it great. I congratulate you for the work that you've put in so that you could be the peaceful, mindful person that you are now. Glad that you're going to take the last few weeks of this year to restore your physical balance! Big hugs!

Thanks for your huge compliment @drrune.
Indeed, it's at these times I'm able to reflect and see that my mindfulness and other spiritual practices are working, so I'll continue to invest in myself.
I appreciate you stopping by 🙏

Have a lovely day!

Hello after your visit to my post with your message of encouragement on my cider vinegar recipe I came to discover your posts. There are so many people on Hive that it's hard to see and read everything. It would take a lifetime hehehe. I agree with you on several things you wrote on your blog. Yes, it is important to freeze every moment with photos of moments spent with family or friends. Life is short and every moment spent with someone is important. Nourishing your mind and body while respecting them as best you can is also important. Yoga is an excellent tool to achieve a symbiosis of the two with this practice. Often in my blogs I talk about time, the past, the present and the future. Everything has flowed through my artistic creation while respecting a sense of the creative process going from left to right, symbol of the progress of time. Yoga reconnects us to these three antiquities which for me are one. The energy that passes through our body and which, through our somewhat crazy life, keeps us in flow. The more energy there is, the more our body experiences the present moment. Yoga helps us achieve this in the same way as certain non-competitive martial arts. Competition has the opposite effect on our minds and bodies. After that remains my personal vision of the action of our life on our body. But since then I have changed my way of thinking and my way of life to match what I wrote above. I felt better. Being different, everyone must find a good balance to adapt to their body.
Thank you for this page of your intimate life which was interesting and allows us to philosophize on this subject

You said so much, so well, and I'm happy that you checked my blog out and that this resonates with you:)))
I resumed my yoga practice at the class today, and I felt so good about it.

That's excellent news about the yoga! I hope the classes bring the peace you're looking for. I completely agree, you owe it to yourself, taking care of your wellbeing <3 actually headed to a yoga class myself in a bit :)
It's great that you have this power of introspection, and that you are flexing it constantly (like any muscle, I think it grows dull if we don't use it in long periods).

PS. So sorry for your loss. <3 I'm sending a warm embrace your way.

🤗😊☕️💐

Controling mind is the hardest part of changing ourselves. Because mind will take us to stop if we did not take action about 3-5 seconds (this is what I learn from motivation video)
Usually I talk with my mind when I do exicerse, simply just talk everything you want need to hear about yourself 😊
I Made plan every day, half week for indoor, and the rest for outdoor.

My body and mind feel in the good harmony now ❤️

Have a great day, Milly 🌸

Psst I wrote this comment while walking in the sunlight 🌞

Hello Anggrek!
Yeah, it takes practice for us to control our minds and keep it where we want it to be. It took me a lot of practice, and before, it seemed impossible. However, my life has been so much better now.

I admire that you can walk and type a full message on your phone and even add emojis 😆
I'm like grandma working from my phone 😂
Have a nice day:)))

I had been planning to look more seriously into a change in career and home, but life took a turn and procrastination might have been the winning strategy for me.

 last year

Hehe, procrastination is horrible. I think you'll get there, eventually though, even if it's smart changes at a time.
Sometimes these things need to sit with us for a while before we put them in action, so don't be too hard on yourself:)))

Easier said than done, being mindful is hard to achieve...so procrastination always kicks in 🤣 yoga is effective in achieving a peaceful mind, to making good decisions in life..but then, it takes self discipline and commitment to achieve the real benefits of yoga meditation.

 last year

Yes, you said that all so well. It does take determination and effort for us to be in control of our minds. However, when we do, there are many benefits to be achieved, as you'll be able to mindfully focus only on the things that matter, and that you have control over.

When you practice yoga with a holistic goal, then the benefits can be paramount.
I hope you're having a great day and all the best for the week ahead:)))

I tried doing yoga several times.. But never been consistent, so obviously, I'm not getting its benefits 🤣.. Really a matter of commitment and discipline.

 last year

The good thing is that you can fall back into your yoga routine at any time. I was inconsistent for years and then I found a good schedule. Somehow along the way, I got deeper into studying the science behind yoga, and I think that elevated my practice overall. That was because I was able to apply the principles off the mat.
I have no doubt that you'll resume a practice at some point:)

Although it is a shame that you don't see your friends on Sundays, you have to prioritize what makes you feel good and also do something healthy for your body and mind, just as you say, your body is asking for those yoga sessions, and It's great that I took advantage of the fact that that yoga teacher will be in your city.
It is good to know how we feel and recognize the shortcomings, and in this case it is about resuming your exercises, to feel good mentally and physically healthy.
I take this opportunity to wish you a happy and prosperous week dear friend @millycf1976

...have to prioritize what makes you feel good and also do something healthy for your body and mind

That's exactly my reasoning, and I think it's the responsible thing to do.
Sundays here is a perfect opportunity anyhow, as I like quiet Sundays outdoors and this will be a great opportunity to do that.

I trust that you're having a great Monday with good weather, I hope. I appreciate your message and wish you a fantastic week:)))

Yes, a sunny spring day dawned here, we have really enjoyed this weather.
Have a great day

Ah, Spring sounds nice :)
Thank you 😊

It's a good time of year to start yoga, heading into the dreariness of winter. Anything that fosters positivity in one's life is very beneficial.

Nothing plaguing my mind at this time.

Real talk!:)

Nothing plaguing my mind at this time.

😆👍

How right you are... I just realized we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and did not take a single photo.
I tend to delete many photos, at least from the phone, as I always worry about available space, but when a friend sends like 10 or 20 photos from their vacation I make sure to keep at least one or two...
As much as I hate Google, it's comforting to know someone keeps all your memories safe, as one day they may turn out to be very precious.

 last year

Yeah, it's important. I was never the type to take photos and then several years ago when I lost my best friend, I suddenly realised that I didn't have even one picture from the many moments of lives.
I agree with you about Google being a lifesaver, and that's a great tip that I could use right now since I recently cleared some photos that I wish I hadn't🤗

Observing oneself is a great upgrade to healthy living and truly your self control and determination is worthy of emulation.
I've been wanting to get my hands on some more handwork that gives me more value, because i love getting more knowledgeable in various aspect of life.
I guess for now, my limitation is my education but i should think when I'm done, I will go for what i truly want and desire.
Glad you shared this post dear @millycf1976 .
It's a great inspiration to me.

Things will all fall into place for you. at the right time.
Just keep believing and doing everything in your power to make changes in your life, no matter how small they might seem.
Have a great week ahead:)

Taking photographs with people is something a kind that I should practice and develop with myself too because I myself is not really into taking pictures.

Actually I started to take pictures when I started blogging.

 last year

Yeah, taking pictures of myself and on outings only started since blogging too.
It's a nice way to freeze memories, as you never know:)
Have a great week ahead!

Giving to ourselves the things that makes us to be calmed is best for ourselves, yoga is a good one in that aspect, and it's great now the teacher do come around town on Sunday, that picture of you and your friend Angie is beautiful.
