Aspiring @curie curators please read the entire post and let me know you would like to become a @curie curator when you first drop a link!
Aspiring @curie curators should also read through this entire post and my responses to previous submissions in the comments before you start dropping off links - you may pick up some valuable pointers that will save us all some time instead of rehashing the same mistakes every beginning curator makes. Are you looking for a place to promote your own awesome post?
Newer authors (REP < 46) can promote their own post in the comments of my step-brother @thehumanbot's Charity Upvote posts! Here is a link to the Charity Upvote Week 1 post.
What is new with Version Two?
There have been some major changes to the way the @humanbot Curator Incubator & Link Drop is going to work going forward, hence a new major version number and new name for the service. The biggest change is that @humanbot / @carlgnash is not necessarily going to review every submission and check for original work. The first post was a great success but going through every submission with the care necessary to award a Badge of Originality took more time than I actually had to give. See the CHANGELOG at the bottom of this post for a complete list of all changes.
Who or what is @humanbot?
@humanbot is an extension of @carlgnash; in a nutshell, the content review services that @carlgnash has previously offered on his blog are moving here. In addition, there are several new initiatives in the works to support great content on Steemit that will be gracing the @humanbot blog soon - stay tuned!
What is the Curator Incubator & Link Drop?
This is a place for aspiring curators and anyone who wants to help an undervalued post be seen by more eyes. Drop links in the comments to good posts (original content only please, no copy pasta) by undervalued authors.
If you are dropping off multiple links, please drop them all off in the same comment to make this thread more manageable as it grows.
How do you define "good posts by undervalued authors"?
"Good posts by undervalued authors" is purposefully not defined here. This is open to interpretation to a certain extent and any submission of original content by another author is welcome.
How will the Curator Incubator & Link Drop help undervalued authors and posts?
- @humanbot / @carlgnash will go through as many submissions as possible, awarding a Badge of Originality to posts that are both the original work of the post author and show some true originality and creativity (as subjectively determined by moi). When a badge is awarded the author will be followed by both @carlgnash and @humanbot and the post will be upvoted from both accounts as well. Read more about the Badge of Originality here.
- Good original content by undervalued authors (totally subjective determination here) will also receive an @r-bot upvote and associated trailing votes.
- I encourage everyone who drops a link here to take a minute to look at some of the other posts submitted in the comments. I would love to see comments from users of this link drop when I do go check on posts that have been submitted here! If you like a post, please tell the post author what you like about the post, or why you like it.
- Consider helping me curate the links in the comments here by upvoting submissions that you think are particularly good, to bring them up higher in the list.
Please do not drop links to your own posts here
This is not a space for self promotion. Dropping a link to your own post in the comments is a violation of the totally non-binding terms of service and may result in an alien spacecraft visiting your domicile and testing out the new transmogrification ray... but at the very least your post will be ignored.
To the aspiring @curie curators
@carlgnash is a curator for @curie. Let me speak in the first person here for a second as @carlgnash. I have achieved top curator status for @curie the past three weeks running and have every intention of doing so to the best of my ability in future weeks as well. Yes, this does mean that I can recommend curators to @curie any week that I was top curator the previous week. No, this does not mean you should DM me or otherwise harass me about nominating you. This post is the official channel for you to impress me with your curation ability. You can do this in several ways: - First, do not drop me links to your own posts or DM me about a curator nomination unless I specifically tell you to DM me. If you fail to follow these instructions, you will be instantly and forevermore blacklisted from future @curie nomination by me.
- Read this entire post and my responses to previous submissions in the comments before you start dropping off links - you may pick up some valuable pointers that will save us all some time instead of rehashing the same mistakes every beginning curator makes. For extra-credit reading please review my responses to comments at the Curator Incubator v1.
- Notify me that you are interested in becoming a @curie curator when you first drop a link off here in the comments.
- Drop me links to posts that you think are truly exceptional here in the comments so I can get a feel for your curation style, what you are looking for and what your idea of exceptional is.
- Please tell me why you feel the post is exceptional. Clearly articulating why you feel a post is exceptional and worthy of @curie adds bonus points to your submission.
- You do not have to stick to the @curie guidelines - I am more interested in getting a feel for what kind of content you think is exceptional.
- Bonus points if you submit good original posts outside of the fields of art/music/photography/travel blogging. It is harder to find good original content in areas like gaming, science, health, etc. There is a lot of copy pasta and it is often much more difficult to tell with those kinds of posts if it is plagiarism. Prove to me you can identify quality original content in tags like this!
- Read through the posts that are left here in the comments by other users and tell me in the comments here if you think any are exceptional, and if so, why you feel that way. Please do not go through the comments here and trash submissions, telling me why you think they suck. Only reply to a post submitted by someone else in the comments here if you think it is an awesome post, and in that case, please say why you feel this way. If you can clearly articulate what you like about a post dropped here by another user, that will be points in your favor when I consider recommending you to @curie.
- I encourage you to leave good thoughtful comments in response to posts that you find through the incubator. If you like a post, please tell the post author what you like about the post, or why you like it. As I work my way through submissions you will earn bonus points if I see you have been actively engaged in commenting.
- Check posts that are submitted here for plagiarism. If you can prove that a post submitted here for review is plagiarized, please leave any proof you have (link to the original content, suspicious posting patterns by the author, garbled language that seems to have been translated by software, etc.) here in the comments. A big part of being a @curie curator is being able to detect plagiarized content. Prove to me that you have a talent for this and you are ahead of the game.
Cheers - @humanbot / @carlgnash

Just looked at #1 first - this is copy/pasted. It isn't the worst sort of plagiarism because the author did link to the Indonesian wikipedia source at the bottom, but even providing a source when all you have done is use Google Translate to translate the Indonesian language version of a Wikipedia article and pasted it in here is still not cool. Adding an intro paragraph doesn't make it original.
There are a few clues here that this was copy/pasted - I was nearly 100% certain it had been before I even got to the bottom of the post and saw the link the author left. Check out all the strange line breaks that would never have occurred if someone was typing this on Steemit or typing in a word processor (marked with pink "x"). No one hits a hard return in the middle of typing a sentence. This sort of thing only occurs when copy/pasting from websites.
https://id.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antropologi_budaya
Okay I checked out #2. Would definitely not agree it is exceptionally well-written. This appears to be a badly garbled auto-translated article. As far as Curie goes, some degree of leeway can be made for a poster who speaks English as a second language, but this is beyond that sort of misuse of language. I want you to take a look at this passage from the post you linked:
First - what the heck? Extra marmalade fish? Too much "parrot" in fish? TI would bet a large sum that this is an auto-translate software choosing the wrong words.
Second - compare that to this passage from the poster's #introduceyourself post:
It is extremely obvious that the author of that introduce yourself did not author the article you linked.
Gaming
author @tioluwanih
this is his original post
I really like this post because he gave the right information and details here
https://steemit.com/games/@tioluwanih/dream-league-compact-review-1
I really want to be curator @curie because I want to find a good post here to be enjoyed by many people, I really want to help all the talented in the field of writing for his work can be enjoyed by all
This is a nice review. I think as far as Curie goes, the review name itself gives us a clue - "compact", as in short. I do believe this is original work, and what is there is nice, but the review is pretty short and is lacking the detail that would be required for this to be truly exceptional and worthy of Curie. Just as an example (and you could pick out many sections and make the same point) - here is the entire portion of the review that deals with the controls of the game:
So the control is cool, flexible and easy to use... but what is it? How do you control the players? How do you select who you are passing to? What are the controls? I know absolutely nothing about the way this works after reading the game. And that is fine, the author said this was a compact review and it was. But in my opinion, that means it isn't really Curie material.
Cheers - Carl
Another one of my favorite authors got curied today - @gardenbsquared - Mr. Gnash you are all over the great authors!
Ok heres a total travel photography one - just something fun I found tonight.
https://steemit.com/travel/@joanderit/bucas-grande-islands-escapade-part1
This is a nice post. If the photography was of better quality I think it would be Curie worthy, as they do visit some interesting and beautiful places. The cave was pretty cool. Cell phone photography can fly, but it has to be good cell phone photography: in focus; not washed out; not hazy; etc. Also, general rule of thumb - the more selfies in a post, the less likely it will be Curied :) More quality pictures of the landscape and scenery and less group selfies would have made this a stronger candidate for Curie. Failing that, much more detail was needed in the post body, more meat on the bones, history of the island with sources, more on the cave with sources, etc. BTW I happen to know this post was submitted by another curator, and was not approved.
Listen - all this stuff you are doing here - is priceless. I almost can't believe you are letting me in on all the secrets!
I shan't give up! Your advice is motivating! One question - do you only want curieable stuff here? I thought that article was nice - though not mind blowing...but I can find mind blowing stuff!
I shall!
Love and light!
Nice Information and Original Content
https://steemit.com/health/@mustayani/the-greatest-benefit-of-honey
Wannabe @curie curator : )
This is a nice post if it is the work of the post author - I haven't done the deep dive into previous postings, done any Google searching yet or any other measures to detect plagiarism. But even before I do that, I want to note that in the case of a factual article like this, there has to be sources cited. Where did the author get all this info about honey? Read it in a book? An article? Found it on a website? Learned it in college? When it comes to submitting a post to Curie, if it is a factual article there needs to be sources listed or it will never be approved.
As I suspected this is plagiarized. Again you don't seem to have that 6th sense that should be telling you something isn't right about these pieces. I have told you this before, but you really need to start looking at the blog of an author and taking into account their whole output when you are trying to decide if an article is the work of the author. Of the last 3 articles this author has written , including this one, one was flagged down below $0 payout, and another was noted to be plagiarism by a reader in the comments who left a link to the article that mustayani had "rewritten" (read, changed a few words around to make it less likely the plagiarism would be detected). But even without looking at the past history I was pretty sure this was plagiarized - you just don't see an article with this many facts and this well written that doesn't cite ANY sources... unless it is plagiarized.
Professionally Written Article
https://steemit.com/science/@ongoingwow/alice-in-wonderland-syndrome-curiouser-and-curiouser
Wannabe @curie curator
This is indeed a great article, and even though it was posted elsewhere by the author (Medium) it was posted at the same time and the author included a link back to Steemit in the post on Medium. This is a great example of what a factual article would need to look like for it to be Curie worthy. The author cites the source for all the facts in the article, and then goes beyond simply summarizing previously published articles/research and relates this back to his own experience with AIWS and gives us examples of what this feels like from his own perspective.
I would have submitted this for Curie if it were not for the fact that the author has two posts with > $25 pending payout already in the past week (a single post with > $25 payout in past week disqualifies from Curie, and just FYI even if no single post is over $25 but the sum total of pending payout is >$25 it is still risky because author might not be considered to be "persistent with little success".
Nice find here.
And it was approved for Curie even THOUGH author had prior posts with high pending payout - sometimes the Curie reviewers will approve a post that doesn't meet all guidelines if it was exceptional. This was still a risky submission on someone's part though, I wouldn't have personally taken this risk - I tend to be cautious, which is why I have been top curator for three weeks running
https://steemit.com/writing/@goldenarms/diary-of-an-assassin-pt-9-the-final-chapter
This is has been an intense series from the first chapter. Every part of the story has been very well told and full of suspense. I think he did a good job of wrapping it up in this final instalment.
Cool that was a fun read, action packed / fast paced. Posts that are part of a series like this are less likely to be awarded a Curie just in general, just as something to keep in mind - and if one part of a series receives a Curie, it would be exceedingly rare for another part of the same series to also get one.
Good to know. I think one of them did get curied (or blocktraded).
Let me see what I can find today!
Nice Drawing And Undervalued Post
https://steemit.com/art/@yogesssh/ford-mustang-art-drawing-cars-20171113t214118231z
Wanna be @curie curator
This is a nice post, definitely a nice drawing and I appreciated the process pics. This was borderline - I considered submitting it for a while. It may have been approved. Only things holding me back were two things - #1, the drawing itself, while very nice, in my opinion fell short of exceptional. That is okay if the text and process pictures really were exceptional, but that leads me to #2. In this case, much of the text was very nearly identical to previous posts when it came to describing the pencils used and the process. And there really wasn't any explanation of the various stages of the process, just pictures. If the text had been more unique to the post and there had been a little explanation of what he was doing at the various stages of the process pics, I would have submitted it. This was a nice find. It got the r-bot upvote and original works badge.
https://steemit.com/solar/@ligayagardener/low-tech-ligaya-how-to-make-a-box-style-solar-oven
This is a really informative post on how to make a simple solar oven. Well written and covers off all the main questions you'd probably have.
If it really covers all the questions then why did you asked question in comments.
I said 'all the main questions you'd probably have', which I think it does if you want to build one. My question on their page was around why'd you use it over a regular cooker/oven.
Another person was also asking the question. Out of 3 human comments 2 were questions.
The post is titled "How to make a Box Style Solar Oven" not "Why would you make a box style solar oven". I stand by my initial comment, that I think the post does this.
Ok... You win. I don't want to start a war :p
Dude pretty disappointed to see you multiple times here in th is thread ignoring my instructions and criticizing submissions by other posters here. Again, knock it off. Reread my post instructions if you need to. This is not impressing me AT ALL.
Agreed that this is an exceptional post, very well written, well illustrated, informative and original. Really nice submission. This same post by an author with REP between 27 - 52 would be a sure Curie approval. Nice job here!
https://steemit.com/gardening/@projectdiaries/how-to-grow-orange-trees-from-seed-a-complete-step-by-step-guide
I'm not a gardener but I love watching/reading gardening stuff. This one is no exception. This guy provides a really useful tutorial on growing oranges in the UK of all places.
It is a cool post! but If you go to their video on Youtube you can see it was originally published on December 5th 2016 and now it has been reuploaded to Steemit almost hour ago. Just to let you know reuploading old content will never get curated by curie.
That is good to know.
I still like the post.
Sorry, I had been too harsh
Comment edited
Hi @umais, again I appreciate your enthusiasm here but I want to note that my instructions above are pretty clear that what I don't want people doing is going through the comments here and saying what they don't like about posts people drop here. I am looking for positive engagement and interaction. If you like a post someone else drops here, tell me why you like it, what you like about it. If you think there is something wrong with a submission here, this is not the place to say it unless you think the piece is plagiarized (in which case, bonus points if you can point to why you think something is plagiarized). Please keep it positive. Thanks - Carl
@umais is correct in this case as far as Curie goes - of course, for this Curator Incubator I specifically said you didn't have to follow Curie guidelines, as I am really trying to get a feel for what you think is exceptional, not if you can follow some rules that are relatively simple. But again, as far as Curie submissions go, the general rule of thumb is if the content was posted elsewhere more than a week ago, it would rarely be approved.
Okay I have actually read the post / watched the video now - great video, really high production values. The same video, if cross-posted here on Steemit the same week it was released on youtube, would be worthy of submission to Curie.
On the other hand, posting a video here that was posted back in December on Y outube, particularly when there is no link back to Steemit on their Youtube page, actually hurts Steemit. This is not what we want to reward with upvotes. This decreases Steemit's visibility in search engines - there is a link back to Youtube here, but there is not a link back to Steemit on the Youtube page, and the content was posted first there - this all adds up to hurting Steemit's search engine visibility. I left a comment to the author asking them to consider cross posting when their content is fresher, and also leaving a link back to Steemit.
The quality of the post is great though.
Cheers - Carl
Original Content
This is a very good post and useful because didalm this post explain the details about the theme of money he use, I want to recommend this post to @curie to increase this post
https://steemit.com/food/@afifbou/benefits-of-black-chocolate
I want to join curator @curie to find and help good postings to be enjoyed by many people and help writers
@humanbot @carlgnash
This is a good post if it is the original work of the post author, although I am not convinced this is the case. Still, let's pretend it is the original work of the post author - for a factual article like this, sources should be cited at the bottom for where all these facts came from. The author didn't just make all this stuff up - it came from a book, article, website, etc., and these sources should be listed. Also the author did not cite a source for the image. As far as Curie submission goes, one of the guidelines is that factual articles needs to be properly cited. This would not be submittable.
Gaming: https://steemit.com/gaming/@xr-hammergaming/overwatch-or-random-play
This guy has some good gaming videos and only makes a few cents on the majority of them. The only thing I'm concerned with is whether the steem account and the you tube account are the same person. It seems very likely but I could not find an introduction post for him or any other way to verify.
I think it is likely him because he links back to Youtube from the steemit account, but I wish he linked to Steemit from his youtube account. It actually hurts Steemit's ranking in search engines when content is posted elsewhere first, then posted here with a link to the other sites but no link back here to Steemit. I left a (hopefully friendly) comment to the author asking him if he could put a link to Steemit along with his other social media links on Youtube - it could well just have been an oversight. I thought the video was decent
I see what you're saying.
It wasn't the greatest video but he is being consistent.
I like the guy.
Gaming: https://steemit.com/gaming/@chimzycash/zuma-s-revenge-pc-review
The game this person is reviewing is an older, very basic, puzzle game.
The review he gives is in depth and covers all the bases. I thought it was really well done.
While he has had 1 or 2 successful posts in the past, the majority were not.
Yeah I am familiar with the author, I had my suspicions about plagiarism in a previous post but I did more digging and as far as I can tell the reviews are the work of the author - in which case they are really pretty nice, detailed, thorough, well-illustrated and formatted. As far as Curie itself goes, he has gotten several of the "small" Curies, or Community Curie votes, from the gaming sub-community recently and might be considered to have already "arrived" and no longer be qualified as persistent with little success. BTW let me know if you have looked at my SQL curation posts, I have some simple queries I can share with you that check author's lifetime Curie votes (with vote strength), lifetime Cheetah upvotes and weekly pending post payouts.
Drawing: https://steemit.com/drawing/@eledeluuis/sentimientos-anclados
This is an iffy one. It's a great pen and ink drawing, but it's his first post so no history to go by. It looks pretty original.
Yeah it is beautiful line work, I like it. In cases like that I usually just follow the author and keep an eye out for future posting. As far as Curie goes a guideline is English language posts only - a bilingual post is fine if the English portion is exceptional. Music can be in another language (the vocals) but the post itself would need to have English text.
I did not know that. :)
A very good advice! Bilingual is better for curie - I will keep this in mind.
Nice Information
https://steemit.com/science/@belovebelight/zombies-new-studies-show-your-brain-may-be-sleeping-while-you-are-awake
Wannabe @curie curator
This is an okay article, it has all the sources cited correctly and does add at least a tiny bit of original content with some brief summaries of the source material. That being said, as far as C urie consideration, this would fall way short of the exceptional bar. The majority of this article is quotes from the source articles and the author really adds very little original content. If you can say that a post is primarily just summarizing other previously published articles without adding the author's own perspective, thoughts, opinions, experience, etc., it is a sure sign that the post is not Curie-worthy.
Awesome Article (Professionally Written)
https://steemit.com/science/@mamasetta/this-mysterious-creature-human
Wannabe @curie curator
okay this is another one that on first read all kinds of warning bells are going off. I haven't done the deep dive yet, will go look at the blog and do some Googling to check for plagiarism - but I am nearly certain this is not the original work of the post author. Even if we pretend it is original work, this would not be submittable because it is a factual article and no sources are cited for all the facts presented. In this case, there aren't even any sources cited for the images, which are plainly not the original work of the post author. Again, if you see an article that seems "professionally written", a fact based article with the kind of polished images you would typically see in a professional publication that pays for stock images, and the article does not cite sources for the facts presented and/or sources for the images... this is an almost 100% certain dead giveaway that the article is plagiarized. It seems "professionally written"... because it IS professionally written! By a professional writer! Published in an actual professional publication! I will eat my shoe if this is the original work of the post author.
I think it's original. Author has made many similiar posts
Even if it is original as far as the Curie thing goes it would need to have sources cited for all the factual information - I didn't actually dig around to prove or disprove plagiarism here because the post wasn't properly cited in the first place.
https://steemit.com/photography/@bluebottlefilms/005-the-making-of-our-ocean-film-the-map-to-paradise
I recognise the video link is old, however, this is an amazing, high quality documentary discussing the importance of marine sanctuaries in protecting ocean health. The post itself provides a nice summary of the documentary, with high quality photos.
In a case like this it really doesn't matter if the video is old - the post itself seems to be new, I don't find anywhere else online that they are posting these blog posts. I checked their website and their blog and did some Google searching - I do believe this is fresh original content to Steemit. And it is really good! Well written, interesting, and well illustrated with original photography.
I actually considered submitting this pretty hard, I think it might be approved for Curie if it was submitted. There was really only one thing holding me back, which is that the author has received a fair number of the small community Curie votes including one on a previous part of this same series. Curie isn't huge on rewarding multiple parts of the same series. This might be a kind of nitpicky thing, but I do always check the lifetime Curie votes for an author and take that into consideration, and in this case it seemed a little risky so I passed.
Really nice find again. I am impressed with your eye for the exceptional. Please DM me again on steemit.chat I would like to continue this one on one. Cheers - Carl

How about this post, he writes and tells his post in detail and he also includes the source there, I think he is a great writer
https://steemit.com/gaming/@wahyusaputra/pes2018-3-get-to-know-a-very-talented-player-from-morocco-eng-ind
I really want to be curator @curie sometime, because I want to find a good post written by a writer who has a low reputation to be enjoyed by many people here, and I want to help everything here, I will work hard to become curator @curie @carlgnash
This is a pretty good review I think. As far as a potential Curie submission I don't think it is exceptional. The English language section had a fair amount of errors in it, which is okay to a certain extent for someone who speaks English as a second language, but if that is the case the rest of the post has to be really exceptional. This was kind of limited in scope with it being just a review of a single player. But I did like the post.
I think so too
thanks for the suggestions and comments @carlgnash :)
https://steemit.com/photography/@florian-glechner/interesting-places-in-austria-zentralfriedhof
This guy is fast becoming one of my favourite photographers. He's currently doing an "interesting places of Austria" series and all of them so far have been of excellent quality. What I like most is the thought he puts into the descriptions of his photos. He makes really unique posts about areas you might not necessarily visit as a tourist (like this one).
Absolutely beautiful and I will tell him this in a detailed comment as soon as I have a second. If he had not just received a Curie within the past week this would have been a sure submission and approval. You are totally correct, absolutely exceptional both in terms of the photos but also the descriptions of each photo
I enjoyed this, thought I would share it here
https://steemit.com/politics/@lastchance/my-thoughts-on-the-2nd-amendment
Wannabe @curie curator
Cool I will check it out, but right off the bat based on the name and the category it is in, I should mention from the Curie perspective one of the guidelines is no political posts... ;)
(to be clear, I am totally fine with links being dropped off here that do not meet Curie guidelines, and I haven't even checked this one to see if it would be considered political - mostly just noting for your own benefit as aspiring Curie curator, and also for future readers)
Ah LOL now that I have read the post, yeah, this is a pretty political post :) From the Curie perspective, this would be a definite no go on the no political post guideline. And from my own personal perspective... I am just going to leave this one alone rather than get into my own political views on this issue. I wasn't able to really form a clear judgement on the merits of the post itself without getting entangled in my own political views, so that is why I am just leaving it alone.
Ah I see, I'm sorry I did not realize no politics lol. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for letting me know. The search continues lol
Hi @carlgnash! Please check his posts.
https://steemit.com/philippines/@jamesanity06/social-media-and-it-s-effects-on-the-younger-generations
His articles and poetry might qualify for a @curie upvote. Thank you and I wish one day I can be qualified as a curator too.
Cool he seems like a good poster. I am putting him on my "watch" list. I wouldn't personally think the linked article is exceptional enough for a Curie, but it is definitely good and I do believe it is the original work of the author. Thanks for sharing here :)
Thanks @carlgnash..
Great little short story here:
https://steemit.com/fiction/@jonknight/armistice-inc-a-short-story
Sadly his rep is a tad over the curie guidelines
The contrast between the initial and final thoughts of the narrator suggests love is a feeling which remains sealed and uncloaks itself only under threat. Such an understanding of eros is close to my own definition of this dear feeling, therefore the writing you selected was a real pleasure for me. If I were to nitpick, the only minute spot of bother would the formatting, otherwise everything was of great quality.
Wow he is a great writer. I hadn't run into him before, thanks for sharing!

Future potential curators take note
This is exactly the kind of positive interaction and ability to articulate what is exceptional about a post that I am looking for! It is a good exercise to think about why a post is exceptional, and what makes it exceptional. If you can't answer these questions about a post, chances are it is not actually truly exceptional.
This is a great post. I think the quality of the art is definitely exceptional as far as this style goes, and the process pics are great. I wish there was a little bit more of an explanation of the different steps in the process and techniques used. I think this would likely have been a Curie submission and approval if it were not one of the author's first few posts. Definitely following her, she is a great poster to keep an eye on! Thanks for the tip!

Cool thanks for dropping them off in a bundle here, that makes the thread more manageable as it gets longer. Luckily we are still just inside 7 days so I was able to edit the post to include an instruction for future users to do exactly this when dropping off multiple posts. I will be reviewing these later this evening. Cheers - Carl
I enjoyed reading this post which treats on the strong relation between the nature and the human beings based on the author's reflections. It is indeed remarkable how the author implicitly connected her stay in the State Park to the philosophical view of the Daoists. She engages in seemingly trivial dialogues with the personified nature which is perhaps an indication of uncertainty and respect she as a human should have towards the actual owners of the forest. This broad approach that arises in the story is something I am particularly fond of and I am glad I had the chance to read it.
i really like that one too and might feature it in my curation page :) thanks for the feedback :)
Yeah that author is a winner - great submission here, thanks @torico! Sorry I have been lagging in my feedback, the holiday weekend has been jam packed with family festivities... so I guess it is a "sorry, not sorry" kinda thing LOL
lol me laggin too no worries. family time and good food takes precedence
Thanks so much for this comment. I totally agree that this is a wonderful post and I have added this author to my "curie watch" list - she will very likely produce a post that will be submitted and approved :)
Unfortunately, it does not fit into the Curie's requirements because of the writer's high reputation, however it pertains to science, which probably makes it a pretty rare find over here.
PS I would like to become a Curie curator.
Hi thanks for this submission and great job clearly articulating what you felt was exceptional about the article! Bonus points there :)
I agree that this is a very well written and properly cited article, and I do think it adds some value to Steemit because the author does have a talent for stating complicated concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. However the post mostly just summarizes the content of a single scientific paper and really does not add any original conclusions. Given this, it would be an extremely risky submission for Curie (if the author REP was in the right range) and would most likely not be approved. The headlines says "Breakthrough!!!" (with 3 exclamation points!!!)... but the post lacks a conclusion section explaining why it is important that they were able to achieve a stable plasma formation, or really any original thought by the post author at all. Why is this a breakthrough? Why is it important? What are the likely advances that will result from this? Why do we care that some scientists created a stable plasma formation without using an electromagnetic field? It is not enough to simply be a well written, well sourced and not plagiarized post (although these are all components of a successful Curie submission). Cheers - Carl
After a deep search, I found this post
https://steemit.com/9ja-art/@adigun/my-pencil-drawing-of-one-of-my-favourite-artist-in-the-country-photo-and-detailed-videos-of-the-photo-20171115t1952148z
The guy is a real talent of art.... I think he draw quite well and I see the originality in the video which shows his process.
It is a nice post, agreed that the video definitely shows it is his original work and adds a lot of value to the post. As far as a Curie submission goes I don't think the art is exceptional enough.
Not Exceptional enough?.... hummmm
Still on the look for other good post anyway
Obviously "exceptional" is a subjective thing. In my opinion, it is a very nice drawing, but not exceptional. I am sharing my perspective as a successful @curie curator. Art in particular can be hard for some curators to judge - I know some Curie c urators who steer clear of recommending art precisely because they realize they are not great judges of its quality. I am an artist myself and I think that helps me be more critical in my assessment of a piece of art.
I think that just because I felt so wrapped up in that situation, it seemed to me a very little valued content.
A reality that few know and I think many should know. For me this post should be read by many, in many languages, not by being Venezuelan, but by the very concrete way that each of the situations described, it really moved me.

I wish I spoke Spanish. I hope another curator gives this post some attention.

Wannabe @curie curator : )
This was a nice post, not exceptional. The author definitely did a good job documenting the journey with photography and the quality of the pictures was good. But really this is just documenting the journey to an event - not particularly interesting in and of itself. The next post promises to be a good one though, this author is worth keeping an eye on. Looking forward to seeing the pictures from inside the show of the cars.
As I thought, the next post got curied :) I didn't keep a close enough eye on her, she got the next post out quicker than I thought
-_- Next Time...
Oh what a cool thing! Its taken me quite awhile to get around to reading all what you are up to, but when I found you approving my favorite new author I had to come check you out!
I am not on top form every single week because of life and stuff, but I will be participating with you here from now on whenever I find something worthy. I would like to one day be a @curie curator, and reading all your advices below show me this is a fantastic place to practice! I will be visiting you friend!
Since you already stamped @not-a-bird, I'm going to first show you some spanish content by my wife. The article is translated by me personally on my blog, if you don't speak spanish and want something a little more polished than google translate.
All pictures are hers and still take my breath away. Its not that she has a professional camera, no dslr or removeable lenses here - we just have reforested and planted gardens so close to the house that she can grab these closeups from the kitchen window! She is no more than 6 feet from this hummingbird - when you can get that close - even our camera will do!
https://steemit.com/nature/@ecoinstante/socializacion-de-la-ruta-pajarera-del-camino-real
This was really nice. Thanks for sharing. Obviously from the Curie perspective as a non-English language post it would not be eligible, but I think otherwise it would have been worthy of submission. Cheers - Carl
Thank you Carl! From this very article I am understanding more about curie and its requirements - the next article she writes I will help her with the translation so that she can include it in the very same article. Appreciate it!
A nicely explained original content done with a lot of study. The sense of the post is funny. https://steemit.com/science/@zycr22/the-dreams-of-an-ant-or-why-everybody-needs-to-sleep-well
wanna be @curie curator
This was indeed a great post, a really good example of how a factual article should look. It was very well cited and the author went beyond simply summarizing an article and pulled together facts from many different sources and even added some original speculation as well... and yes, very funny writing style which is bonus points in my book :) This post did in fact pick up a Curie after you dropped it here. Excellent start, wannabe @curie curator!

A new member with great videoing skills and a brilliant first video. https://steemit.com/video/@yannis182/a-video-of-my-trip-to-el-nido-and-coron
Youtube account matches author name and description makes me believe that he is the original creator.
Would love to be a @curie curator so feedback on this find would be appreciated :)
Please withdraw that suggestion, it's an old video. I'll keep an eye out for new content from this member
Good catch and that is exactly what I was about to say. Definitely a poster worth keeping an eye out on. Cheers - Carl
Here is a post by a new person that might be worth your time to check out. It looks original to me, and I thought it was pretty interesting.
https://steemit.com/p/@el1748eth/growing-a-garden-on-a-rock-with-no-soil-20171113t18575786z
Cool, yeah I think definitely a user to keep an eye on. I hope she does make the follow up post to explain what techniques she is using - pretty impressive to have a successful garden on bare rock. As far as this post itself RE Curie, it would need to be a little more detailed in the techniques she was using or provide a little more info in general - it was nice post but pretty short. Nice photography but not exceptional enough in and of itself to boost the post up to the "exceptional" level either.
Nice Photography and Information
https://steemit.com/travel/@snowdropjess/a-smuggling-tour-and-government-created-crimes
This is a nice post. Very well cited, and the original photography nicely illustrates what she is talking about as well. As far as Curie goes, 4 paragraphs (or almost half the text of the entire post) were a direct quote from the article "Smuggling is a crime entirely created by the government". This is not plagiarism - the author does give the source and puts single quotes around the quoted paragraphs to indicate that they are quoted - but really it means that the portions of the post which are the author's own original work are pretty short. I think it needed to be a higher proportion of the author's own words compared with quoted portions for it to be Curie worthy. But this is definitely an author worth keeping an eye on. Nice find
@carlgnash @humanbot https://steemit.com/fun/@meno/howto-fail-on-steemit-a-practical-guide-for-those-who-hate-success post by meno is another well written work from him. Very hilarious and nabbed a few dollars but i think it deserves attention if not more steem
Ah this is hilarious!!! Really funny! And of course, sad and true. Thanks for pointing this out to me
Anotha 5 dollar post with work and quality that far superceeds it https://steemit.com/diy/@ankapolo/pipe-closet-or-diy-with-usd210-or-less
HOLY CRAP
This post is so amazing. Geez.
WANNABE CURATORS PAY ATTENTION
This post is EXCEPTIONAL. It is really, really good. This is the level of detail and creativity that would be an absolute slam dunk of a Curie submission. Check this post out! I am so impressed with the illustrations that she made with Google Sketchup, this post must have taken forever!
Just wow. Thanks for sharing. And yes, totally undervalued post despite $5.70 pending payout. This is getting the badge of originality from me as well as the full @r-bot upvote.
I don't usually go for the motivational posts...
But this is a good one.
https://steemit.com/life/@inthenow/don-t-let-anyone-else-define-who-you-are
Yes, nice message. I also don't usually go for the motivational posts and I have a hard time judging their quality because I am kind of turned off by the whole genre. Not that there is anything wrong with positivity - I am an unrelentingly positive person. I just find the genre to be full of so many hackneyed cliches, the same tired advice recycled over and over. I personally don't see this post elevating itself out of this morass, but that could just be my personal bias. One thing I noticed is that the first image in the post is not cited - this is actually an image that can be found on Pixabay, so why not cite it? And the original section of the post is pretty short, this would need to be quite a bit heavier on the original content for it qualify as "exceptional" in my opinion. Then of course the post concludes with a 30 minute video from a motivational speaker - I am personally a little leary of giving out rewards in the form of upvotes (and certainly would never submit to Curie or otherwise promote) to posts that include videos that the post author does not own the rights to / did not create. Even if the post author credits the content creator, as this post author does, it still doesn't feel right to me that they should receive payment for sharing content that they do not own. Just my two cents
Here's a post that I think deserves a lot more attention than it might get. I think it's really well written, and it's an important subject to talk about.
https://www.mspsteem.com/politics/@imp.unity/hae-joo-to-whom-much-is-given-much-is-expected
Yeah I enjoyed this personally. Thanks for sharing. As far as Curie goes I think this would run afoul of the no political post guideline
I dunno... I just liked this one. Pretty good for a newb
https://steemit.com/steemit/@blogtrovert/when-steemit-saved-an-annoying-pain-filled-night-136a1d4d11b94
Yeah, fun post, and you can tell that she is going to engage with the platform. Good author to keep an eye on.
So this isn't curie worthy BUT...
This guy tells a good story and supports it with two videos.
Plus it's some great jazz
https://steemit.com/blog/@rawselectmusic/new-reissue-the-lyman-woodard-organization-on-your-mind-jazz-fusion
Yes I really liked this, it got the r-bot upvote and then it looks like a small community curie vote came along as well. Well deserved
This is a fantastic first post (not an introduction post) so I'm bummed that it wouldn't qualify for curie cos it's her first entry.
https://steemit.com/life/@seelikeme/magic-for-muggles-my-experience-at-the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-tips-tricks-and-lots-of-pictures
We talked about this in chat but for the benefit of future readers - this is a great post. Typically curie will not upvote one of the first few posts of a user because of the "persistent with little success" guideline, although any of the guidelines can be ignored at times if the post is exceptional enough. I think the post formatting is also an issue, with a huge image dump (something like 40 images) in the middle of the post and then the post continues on the other side of all those pictures. Future post authors, if you must include a huge image dump, this works best if it is the last thing in your post so a reader doesn't have to scroll through all of them to finish reading if they don't want to.

https://steemit.com/photography/@martaesperanza/traveling-to-black-country-museum-a-village-stuck-in-time
...and the @martaesperanza post got the big upvote :)
nice!!! dang i caught that one early too. who beat me to it?
@milosm2302
Really quality posts, both of them - especially @martaesperanza. Thanks for suggesting her to me, she is a wonderful photographer! That is the kind of truly exceptional quality in photographs that is Curie worthy without a doubt. I would have recommended this post but I see another curator has actually already done so :) The rabbit and fox is a cute picture and nice process post, maybe not quite exceptional enough for a Curie submission in my opinion but it is borderline - it might well be approved. Thanks for sharing
i knows what i likes and i likes what i... well no ima shit amateur but her photos are so elegant..
this guy is too high for a curie, but damnit he deserves on

https://steemit.com/food/@critic-on/the-kiwano-something-that-i-did-not-know-that-i-were-selling-in-venezuela
Okay the @winstonalden piece is truly exceptional. What a great piece. Yeah, you are totally right, he deserves one. The REP requirement can be bent a little bit or even a medium bit but I think 60+ REP is outside the range of the kind of author Curie is trying to support and help get established. Thanks for sharing that one! Really really enjoyed it.
The kiwano piece was decent, not great writing, nor exceptional photography; a good post, but not up to the "exceptional" bar IMO
yeah its no winner by our standards, but considering that venezuela is third world or on the edge and he's a kid, i was giving him the consideration for writing something in english. he did the best with what he has available to him.
Yeah agreed. He got the humanbot Badge of Originality :)
Nature/Travel:https://steemit.com/travel/@lordnigel/lordnigel-s-travels-animals-of-rwanda
This fella was the guy doing the choose your own adventure series...But it also turns out he's done some traveling and they are documented well. I know that topic might not be high on the list but these are the best gorilla pics I have seen all day.
So the main thing with "travel" posts is that there are so many of them, for one, but for two so many of them are "pictures of the day" from a vacation I went on last summer... a travel post has to have more going for it than that, an interesting story that is told and exceptional photography. This post obviously has both of those! For the specific case of a Curie submission, I think this would have needed just a little more detail in the text. Felt a little short. Still a VERY good post, maybe just short of the "exceptional" bar needed for Curie. Thanks for submitting this one, I really enjoyed it!
Hello @carlgnash, check out this post https://steemit.com/design/@hboi/step-by-step-series-tutorial-on-how-to-make-3d-design-and-animation-b0ffab4bf8e2
Nice submission! I love tutorial posts, and they are actually a lot harder to do than you might think if you have never attempted to write one. They take a ton of effort. In t his particular case I think it needed to do tell you how to do a little more for it to be worthy of a Curie upvote, but this poster and this series are worth keeping an eye on. The next post in this series promised to be REALLY good! Thanks - keeping an eye on this user now. Cheers - Carl "Humanbot" Gnash
Yeah, I knew you might like something like this, that is why I shared. Have a nice day!
Hello! How long does this thread stay live? I have one very close to the heart - I helped with the translation this time - in article! Love and Light to you Carl and all the humanbot family of curators ;)

Gaming: https://steemit.com/gaming/@shote.said/hearthstone-kobolds-and-catacombs-complete-card-list-and-personal-favorites
There is a new Hearthstone expansion coming out next week and this post is in anticipation of that. It's well written
Really, really great gaming post. If you found this before the small Curie / community Curie came through hopefully you put your vote there and got a little curation reward :) This is the kind of post which, if by a poster with REP < 53, would be a very safe Curie submission. Nice find
Ah cool. Wasn't too sure with all of the images that are from the game but it was well written. Good to know.
Food: https://steemit.com/recipe/@atmemestable/recipe-lion-s-mane-mushroom-steaks-with-bonus-roasted-okra-recipe
There was some serious effort put into this post. Plus I love mushrooms.
Yeah nice post - I found this one before you did, you may not have noticed as I upvoted through r-bot but didn't leave a comment. I considered submitting this for Curie. Ultimately I did not because the recipe was not an original recipe (recipes are among the subjects specifically called out in the Curie guidelines as needing to be original to the author - but of course, this is a general rule for any type of post). The author does credit the original recipe and says she "adapted it". In this case I think "adapt" is not the right word. It is the same recipe. Not to say the rest of the post wasn't original content, but the recipe itself wasn't and that would have made it a risky submission. Great post though. Looks delicious.
I guess adding an extra pinch of salt is adapting.
OK I'm on that r-bot trail now. Will it show me as already voted in a case like this?
Sure, if you are following the trail then your vote trails along behind @r-bot and if you come to a post that @r-bot has already voted, you would see that the "upvote" icon had already been selected, and if you failed to notice that, when you went to upvote it, you would get the message RE removing your vote would reset curation reward. PS - adding a pinch of that ghost pepper salt? Well maybe that would count as adapting :)
