I've always been a skinny bastard. As long as I can remember always been this lanky, gangly, ectomorphic whispy looking thing with very little muscle mass or fat so to speak of.

KLYE's Starting Specs & Weight

weightstart.png

  • Height: 6.0 feet
  • Weight: 125.6 lbs
  • Build: Ectomorphic / Slim
  • Health: Room for improvement
  • Cardio: Room for improvement

At 6 foot tall and a somewhat ridiculous 125 pounds in weight I'm certainly not your classical idea of male attractiveness that's for sure. I've got freakishly long limbs to begin with but my lack of muscle and body fat make me look even more alien. Don't get me wrong.. I know plenty on here would sell their left nut to be slim like me but at 28 years old this current body that I've got simply put looks far younger and undeveloped in comparison to what it could be.

~Warning:~ If you are sensitive to skinny white boy partial nudity please avert your eyes!

Excuse the white boy partial frontal nudity sprinkled with pubes above. But as you can see I've got plenty of room to build muscles. I've started to formulate a workout plan which I'll save for another post but my target is 160lbs while maintaining <10% body fat. It's going to take a ton of exercise, good eating and persistance to hit / maintain this goal, but it's what I want.

Some debate within myself if I should do one day of exercise, one day off repeat.. Or create some type of blitzkrieg plan where I work out a little bit each day. Fitness gurus of STEEM what is the best method for gaining lean muscle mass while still leaving me energy for the day to day? Any advice is welcomed and will be considered!

Tonight's goal is 60 pushups in sets of 20 x 3 with a few minute break!

( I wrote this post yesterday but only just got the chance to upload it! On to @tippy coding )

You need to lift weights!

Pushups are great for muscle toning, but you'll likely not bulk up on bodyweight exercises alone.

However, you can try this modified pushup to further stress your muscles:

Instead of both hands flat on the floor, try lifting the palm and a few fingers of one hand up off the ground

The more fingers that are lifted, the more weight will be transferred to the other arm, and you'll end doing fewer reps, but at a higher intensity.

Eventually, you'll be doing one-arm pushups.

Good luck!

I was not lifting much of anything for a long time (as clearly visiable by lack of arms) and just got a hold of a adjustable weight set so will be utilizing that.

Thank you for the share of exercise! I will try that out here shortly!

😄😆😆😆😄 i am like times 3 of you klye.....but nice physique man

Your plan ultimately relies on your goal and your resources. You want to gain 35 lbs and maintain low body fat. At your height, you've got lots of room for growth.

Exercise is a key component, but if you're a "low appetite" person, much of your effort will be in eating. Do you get enough protein?

Do you have other goals? Like some improved sport performance, cardio goals, flexibility?

Do you expect to have other resources? Gym, weights?

I've got very little appetite naturally and stimulate it with Cannabis most the time. As for proteins I likely over eat on them actually.. Huge fan of carnivore esque diets.

As for body goals I can jog 1KM currently but would like to push that to 10KM by end of summer (without stopping). Sports aren't my bag and never have been. My flexibility is that of concrete.. I should work on that too.

I've been gifted some dead-weights and an old bowflex apparatus to train on from my parents. May debate gym membership later once I've maxxed out what I can do at home.

125 LBS... I can't remember the last time my scale read that amount. Not since I was younger.

I've always been pretty much just bones and lankyness as long as I can remember.

I used to be too, then I went through a (7 year) phase where I religiously went to the gym and got surprisingly big. I have since quit, but no longer am I just bones. Unfortunately while the muscle mass left, the total mass doesn't seem to go away like it used to.

Moral of the story, lift some weights.. but try not to end up a fatass like me :)

Unzips...............

Just the tip? :D

No, just the tippy

Good luck! Ive got a brother that is 6'7" and weighed about 160 for the longest time so I know the ectomorphic body type lol. He was able to gain weight finally as well. The key is going to be eating enough food. I'm guessing you probably have a very high metabolism already and working out is just going to ramp it up further, so you'll need to increase the amount of calories you eat drastically! Not an expert, just sharing what I've seen.

Extremely high metabolism... Back when I did more physical type labour I could eat nearly 4000 calories a day with little to know gains. It's kind of ridiculous.

I believe it! My brother was a D1 Basketball player in college and they had him eating around 7500 calories a day. It still took him 4 years to put on about 30 lbs! Unfortunately for me my metabolism slowed down right around the age of 21...now I can gain weight like it's my job.

Hahaha, your self description is the funniest I have ever seen anybody write. Good on ya @klye. Just be consistent with whatever exercise you start with and you'll see the results in a few days. Best of Luck:)

I certainly don't try and hide my own thoughts about myself.. I sort of chuckled too. It sums my current shell state up nearly perfectly.

Not sure if you run but I have been meaning to make a steem club on the app Strava. There have been some other steemians looking to join up.

Hope to see more of this when we get the community feature. Steemians coming together to get healthy!

I've recently taken up jogging actually in order to try and get my heart and lungs healthier. Never looked into Strava will have to check it out.

Great app that lets you be social with your runs. Tracks your pace and distance and can help you set goals. Connect again if you like the app and your status would really help promote a steem community on Strava!

Have you thought about High intensity Interval trainmen @klye?

I'm not familiar with this method!

You will get ripped really quick! The premise is that you do intense excerises for a minute at a time and then rest for a minute then increase intensity for another minute or 2 then rest, so on and so forth! Look into "Insanity!"

Ooooh. I started experimenting with something like this... with a intense pushup routine..

Still suck at it but gettting stronger..!

wooohooo!

I'm the one on the ground aren;t I?

Yeah and the money is the upvotes you are getting

i swear man i was walking home from the store just now and i thought about doing something like this cause its time for me to get in shape...you posting this confirmed my synchronicity

Some speculate that we all tap into a collective unconscious mind.. This could be an instance of us both tapping into the same wavelength / thought. Not sure if it's a valid theory but it's cool to think about.

i think its valid man... they call it the akashic records, i believe there is a collective consciousness that we all draw from....there are too many coincidences in life to chalk them up to just happenstance..anyway goodluck on your fitness journey bro! im right behind you.

"akashic records"

Why the hell is that word so familiar. hmm.

i dunno? lol....maybe cause akashic records are real

resteem for you

Thank you very much. <3

Excellent work dear friend @klye congratulations for this initiative, you have a lot of reason what you say, how many prigiamos to keep us like this. I tend to get fat, so I live taking care of myself at meals and dieting, I used to live in gym, now at 48, I do not visit one.
Many good luck in the challenge of the day.
Have a good night

I did the whole gym thing a bit when I was younger but focused more on mental / nerd stuff then my body the past while.

You have a good one too man, Thanks for the pep talk / advice. :)

Its the weather, for some reason when it gets warmer we hit the gym.
The bonus is when you hit the gym, lots of hot women will be there.

I like hot women but know they are trouble!

Want to be proud when I take my shirt off and not look like a friggin' cancer patient. D:

Get into calisthenics if you want to built strength, muscle and a nice looking body. I look a similar to you and I have been using body weight training for about 6 months and the result is quite impressive.

Lucky for skinny guys like us we don't have to really lose weight at all. :P

good idea maybe it will inspire some of those doing the same thing on insta and twitter etc to come over and bring it to steemit!

Could be a new trend!

ROFL - ectomorphic?
Well bring on the sexy, @klye! ;)
I call my youngest my chicken wing because he's got the same physique.

:D

Yeah, skinny white boy problems for sure!

You look perfectly healthy to me!

Thanks man! I'm just not happy with my twiggy appendages and lack of alpha looking muscle mass I guess.
