1 BTC = 1,185.33971836 USD

That is a pretty steep rate of exchange. https://changelly.com/rates

Hey @seablue, thanks for your comment! We have just started accepting VISA and Mastercard for any listed alt coins on http://Changelly.com. As we are at the beginning of process, rates USD->STEEM can be slightly high, to prevent the high demand and cover chargebacks and other fraud payments, while we are tuning the process. Further rates will go down. But anyway, I think it's a nice option to buy STEEM/SBD instantly with credit/debit card, isn't it? And you can always buy/sell STEEM for BTC on Changelly for the most profitable rates on the market.

. But anyway, I think it's a nice option to buy STEEM/SBD instantly with credit/debit card, isn't it?

yeah. this is exactly what im looking for in a site to give my credit card number too.

Thanks for your investigation. But It's just a domain name privacy protector company whoisguard.com - again spammers and hacker attacks. Changelly HQ located in Prague, Czech Republic. Our acquiring partner based in London, you can find it on our Visa/Mastercard checkout page.
You can check feedback from our users on the largest cryptocurrency forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1435275.0
Another point, you can check our STEEM wallet history and find, that many users have successfully exchanged crypto via our service since the launching of steemit. It's absolutely transparent:
https://steemit.com/@changelly/transfers
That will give you more trust, I hope!

Awesome to see you guys doing direct customer engagement here.

Agreed, I like to see things like also. The comments in this thread are great learning nuggets as usual.

Thank you! We are happy to hear feedback directly from our customers. It's always help us to become better.

I would love to get some hands on more steem, but no way am I paying a 37% premium, + the fact I live in Canada premium ON TOP of that. That is like a 60% fee premium.

But I signed up for an account a few mins ago.

Sorry, but what do you mean for 60% fee premium? http://Changelly.com doesn't take any additional fees for card processing. Just enter the amount in USD you want spend for STEEM and follow the buying process. I hope it will be pretty clear for you. You can pay for STEEM with Canadian debit/credit card. CAD will be converted automatically to USD by your bank. In case of any troubles feel free to ask for help.

Sure. For some the convenience would be the important feature. For others it's getting the cheapest rate. It depends on what people are looking for. It not for me. I'm a poor bastard who has to watch every penny I spend.

Agreed, I like to see things like also. The comments in this thread are great learning nuggets as usual.

I just noticed a bug in your USD conversion rate estimator. Entering a number lower than your USD minimum gives the wrong exchange rate. For instance, it tells me that if I spend 1 USD the exchange rate for STEEM is 1 USD = 84.275 STEEM. It doesn't allow me to make the transaction, but it did get my hopes up :)

Ouch, thanks! We've got it. Will pass the issue to our technical team to fix it asap! Very important bug.

Got a bug bounty system? :)

Ohh, not yet, sorry. We should implement it, thanks! =)

I see Craig downvoted this but it's a valid comment. There are cheaper ways to buy BTC and alts, but this seems convenient if you don't care about getting overcharged. The current market price of bitcoin can be seen at https://bitcoinwisdom.com and many other sites.

I posted about steem, so it displeases me to see comments and links about bitcoin, this is supposed to be about buying steem, not bitcoin

The bitcoin rate is the root of what they'll charge for any altcoin. In this case it's about a 37% premium, and the STEEM rate sees the same 37% premium. So if one wants to buy some STEEM now and isn't set up to buy BTC in some other fashion, this service is useful if the premium is acceptable. Otherwise, with some patience, there are cheaper ways.

Yes, I use Gemini.com to buy btc, their btc price is always lower than coinbase, last night I purchased 1 bitcoin and the fee was $2.15, coinbase would charge about $20 fee

and it's good for those who want to pay for anonymity. Changeelly says the rate will reduce as the service matures, they just started

With a credit/debit card you can't be getting anonymity. The anonymity that Changelly offers is changing one crypto to another.

There MUST be an easier way to buy Steem! Steemit cryptocurrency money exchanges

Rather than go through one or more third parties, why not buy Steem from Steemit.com, or Steem.com? Am I making any sense here??? Or  am I being too simplistic here? Am I being an idiot for stating the obvious??

Buying through third parties is very discouraging and suspicious to most normal people.

The steem eco system could very easily set up there own e-commerce payment gateway. Why don't they?

Perhaps tere is strategic brand marketng reason to sell steem through third-party exchanges, istead of diect to customers..

Poor @craig-grant. I agree this is great news about STEEM :p. Thanks for sharing the link, these are the things the network need.

but the comment was about the exchange rate changelly uses which is the means you are promoting to buy steem. Not against it, I even upvoted your post earlier and was thinking about getting some SBD from USD through them, but I also believe the comment is on topic and not promoting the buying of Bitcoin.

Your train of thought displeases me.

Malaysian trains displease me.

That's a disgusting rate, are they buying bitcoins from the future?

Offer a cheaper rate or deal with it. Why complain about the first company in the world to do something?

I think I have a right to complain if on the front page it literally says:

Exchange cryptocurrency at the best rate

first company to do what exactly?

Offer them competition if you think they are profiting too much.

What is your point? that people shouldn't point out a manifestly bad deal unless theyre willing to start their own business to offer a better one.

This site is a rip-off, designed to fleece unwary or ignorant consumers. Its as simple as that.

There are already more competitive options for fiat to crypto conversions. Not all are as convenient as the above option, but the price is better. It depends what people are looking for.

Cex.io has offered debit/mastercard purchases for quite some time. I didn't use it cause for 20€ purchase they took 1.50€ fee, and no I won't use a service where bitcoin costs 30% more than the average price of it right now.

Watch the pennies and the pounds look after themselves, I think someone said, once upon a time. :-)

Assume the buyer doesn't know what crypto is and doesn't care.

Its the same "business model" like Mycelium where you can buy btc by credit card for insane prices...this works against mass adoption

Hey, @steved, thanks for your opinion! But it's always your choice to wait a long for verification or payment processing, or just buy STEEM/BTC/etc instantly with your VISA/Mastercard on our service http://Changelly.com. Unfortunately, mass adaptation is inhibited by government regulators, not by exchanges. Our goal is to simplify buying process for you. Extra margin just covered our risks of chargebacks, fraud payments, etc...

Thank you for your explanation!

Yes. I noticed that and found it strange.. Maybe they are willing to take losses on the margin on the altcoins for bigger margins and higher volumes on BTC.

Hey! We are located in Prague, Czech Republic. But VISA/Masteracard payments are also available for Indians! =)

Hi @craig-grant! Thank you for mention our instant exchange service http://Changelly.com
Dear Steemers, we are happy to make STEEM/SBD available for you to buy with credit/debit card instantly. As any other listed alt coins, including Bitcoin for USD. In case of any questions, feel free to ask, please.

It would be nice to see that credit card rate come down quickly. But yeah, it's great that you guys are upping up your game. I've already come to appreciate the fact that your liquidity is FAR better than shapeshift's. Sometimes by orders of magnitude.

My only major disappointment with your service is that you don't support BTS (whereas shapeshift does). Many people in STEEM come from the Bitshares community. And a growing number of STEEM users are BECOMING Bitshares users. In light of that, what are the chances you will support BTS in the near future? It should be similar to adding STEEM since it's based on the same codebase. Thanks in advance.

Dear, @tombstone, thanks for your question! We have plans to add Bitshares in January. It will be available to buy instantly for VISA/Mastecard and exchange BTS for Bitcoin/Monero/Ethereum/etc. on http://Changelly.com!

Are you aware that your auto-vote was stolen and $100 of the reward pool was sucked into a curation guild that none of the voters gave permission to?

Check @steemvoter (same account holder as @steemsports)

Can we please stop powering up somebody who cannot be trusted and has threatened the community with blackmail as well as attempted to turn the blame on the developers Dan and Ned?

I see an option to buy with USD but not to receive Steem power/dollars.

The easier it becomes to buy Steem with VIsa/Mastercard etc the higher the price of Steem will go. The main problem right now for most people on Steem is there is no way to buy Steem Power unless the person is a crypto-anarchist Bitcoin lover.

Being a crypto-anarchist should not be a pre-requisite for using Steem.

I am a cryptoanarchist and almost everything involving banks is like pulling teeth. wirex charge a lot and hen on top the card issuer charges €2.25 to draw out cash. Here in stupidland, I mean germany and holland, half the shops refuse to accept credit caeds because the payment processors also hit the merchants hard.

I wish I could charge a few bucks to press buttons also. I hate banks.

You should see the bank fees here in the Bahamas from these foreign banks, it's outrageous!

yeah, most banks are hooked up with the communist central bank cabal. The 'tax havens' are where the bankers are not, in general.

I have very rarely utilised my downvote option during my time on Steemit, but I shall be making use of it in this case for the dishonest nature of the post.

It should not say "Buy STEEM or SBD @ Changelly.com," it should say "Buy STEEM or SBD @ https://changelly.com/exchange?ref_id=74a35c13ac23."

This hidden referral link is an obvious attempt to dupe your followers, whom you owe your success on Steemit to.

You are trying to influence them to make purchases considerably over market value while you hide the fact that you are lining your pockets with a portion of their over-payments.

This was a risky move, and potentially a stupid one. You underestimate the intelligence of the Steemit community by expecting this to go unnoticed, and in doing so you also risk losing a number of followers when there is a good chance no one will be silly enough to purchase from this link anyway.

That would equate to a loss with no gain. I have watched a few of your videos in the past and offered you my upvotes, and it is clear to me that you're not a stupid man.

Perhaps you should be using your intelligence to assist your followers as a reward for their loyalty to you, rather than attempting to exploit them for selfish purposes.

I do not take pleasure from this, and should you edit your post to one which exhibits honesty in regards to your motives, I will reverse my downvote and delete this comment.

I have also downvoted this post. For 3 reasons:

  1. This site is suspicious in that they ask for credit card numbers, but do not any corporate info on their site, or on their whois registration.

  2. Hidden referral link.

  3. Unreasonable markup, without an explicit warning.

The intention is clear -- you want to make a profit by directing people to a ripoff site. That may or may not be on the level.

EDIT:

I would also like to make it clear that the OP flagged this post, without comment or explanation, and others in an attempt to hide information from potential site users.

I was more than content to downvote just with my main account ,until you flagged my entirely legitimate concerns to invisibility. Then, i decided to downvote with the entirety of my steempower, including the 90 or 100k i have in accounts that i purchased used, because i felt that it was very likely that you and this changelly individual were trying to deceive readers.

NOw that my concerns are again visible, i have stopped. If i can figure out how to un-downvote the post in piston with my secondary accounts, i will do so.

Oh my God, man. Lol, man. This is comedy gold! You made me crack up so hard just now. Along with probably taking the record for the most amount of downvotes ever on a post ever, Craig posts a long list of hundreds and hundreds of accounts to which you respond funnily and elaborately explain your planned flagging strike of utter dislike simply because Craig put one flag on you, and every single one of these accounts turn out to be yours! One be severely damned should one mess with you, dog! Haha! So funny. You're so cool!

Dude, just out of curiosity, how did you go about creating all these accounts?

Thanks for making my Steemit day, sigmajin! =D

these accounts were created by an individual called steemit follow. His intention was to use them to spam, and he was selling likes and follows.

He ended up in a war with cheetah, and the steemit abuse people, and found that his accounts were getting killed as soon as he posted with them.

I swooped in and bought them up at 5 cents on the dollar (which turned out to be a so so deal, siunce steem was actually worth around a dollar at the time)

I considered it just cheap steem power. the problem is its actually somewhat difficult to corrall all of these little accounts. Ive never made the time to find an efficient way to do so.

I tested some of them out before, and set the all time flagging record here:

https://steemit.com/news/@whitemike313/dog-ate-cookies-with-marijuana-and-caught-a-bad-trip

You be e-thugging ... blockchain for LIFE :)

I don't think anyone with common sense would suspect changelly of nefarious intentions. I guess this issue of buying steem with credit cards instead of using bitcoin is an emotional juggernaut. The only emotion I know is JOY, so I can handle it, and so can anyone with common sense.

I think you mean too fly.

If you're going to put that much effort into being a smart arse, it's best to be smart about it.

I don't know about the site itself. I cannot be certain of its lack of credibility. The OP's fraudulent and dishonest nature is beyond evident however, so I am glad someone else took the liberty of raising awareness of his despicable attempt to con his own followers.

I see you with a gun to my head, I have never flagged a post on steemit because I don't want to get flagged and ruin my reputation score. Your actions will backfire when others flag you for flagging me. So go ahead, you already shot me in the head, and this message is being typed by my ghost.

What are you talking about...?

I care not who flags me for warning others of a dishonest scheme to swindle them out of their money. I have enough faith in the community to know that I won't get flagged by anyone other than your sycophants for doing a good service for the site.

I had hoped that you might show some remorse for your devious actions or at least desist with the attempted scam, but unfortunately you are clearly just a cunt.

Shame on you.

so now me and followers are sycophants, WOW, put that shovel down, I think the hole is deep enough

I did not refer to you as a sycophant. I did not refer to your followers as sycophants. I referred to your sycophants--that may or may not exist--as sycophants.

My point, which I believe you understood, was that only someone whose head is up your arse, or perhaps paid by you, would be willing to flag my comment that brings to light the deceptive nature of your post.

The 6 upvotes on my comment compared to the one flag that you gave me is testimony to this.

Now, I have better things to do with my time than engage in a petty argument with a fraudster. If you are to reply, then you must do so with the knowledge that I shall not be reading your predictably immature response.

Good day--

Is it ethical for a capitalist to make money through referrals without announcing it?

I have been promoting affiliate programs for 16 years, and earned millions doing it. I have never seen this idea of announcing affiliate links until I saw it on reddit in the cryptocurrency subreddits. To me its like pretending to be on some high moral ground.. mortality on the internet.. c'mon that's crazy.. it's crazier for me to even respond to someone who thinks there are rules to earning money online, there are no rules, just earn money, that's it, if the internet was not paying me to be on it, then there would be no internet

I don't see anything wrong with it.
If the product or service is good and the referral gets someone to order, why shouldn't they get a cut? I have never done this on Steemit, but we know that most people here are hoping to earn money from their blogs, so it's no different.

PS. putting referrals behind links without a mention of them is something I think should be frowned upon.

..and then the OP gets angry at people for casting a critical eye over the offer. I didn't even look at the referral in the link. Now the reaction to criticism makes sense.

selfdefensiveovermyprofits.jpg

I've heard about a lot of debit Mastercards and Visas that can be tied to Bitcoin. I'm confused on which ones are the best ones.. I hope someone does a review on the various solutions and picks out the top 2 or 3...

Video : Send STEEM or SBD from your steemit account to this visa debit card (USA only)

Wait, USA only? Seems hardly fair. VISA is suppose to be a worldwide card where everyone can participate.

Well done Craig!

You can use a wirex card for anywhere outside the USA.

https://www.e-coin.io/?ref=d157c1cf7b44441abc6cabe64134773f

Use that link to get 25% off your physical Mastercard. The virtual card is free.

I just learned about a new one that can be loaded directly with Steem called uquid. I resteemed an article about it.

That's awesomeness right there

I went to Changelly.com and couldn't even get past the first page. Everytime I tapped on the LTC to look if there's steem my keyboard pops up right in the way . I tried a few times but if it's that hard just to look at it and get past the first nevermind signing up . Then it's going to be to difficult for me lol ! I don't care to try even cashing out steem after hearing all the hoops you need to jump through when I've never done it before ! And I don't even have a account at polonex or whatever blocktrades I guess ! I just wish or hope for the day that it becomes easy at least ! Thanks steeming on l😆😊they sent me a email some day I will try to figure it out when I have more time ! Lol

with blocktrades you don't need an account, it can do direct conversions just as changelly. Just fyi.

Oh OK ! So can I change steem into actual money there as well ?!😊

I think Blocktrades is limited to Steem/SBD -> other crypto.
I don't know of a way currently to get fiat (e.g. US dollars) from Steem/SBD directly. Changelly (just like Blocktrades) only works one way USD to Steem, not the other way around based on my understanding.

But again, the point is that you don't need accounts (like on poloniex) to make conversions on Blocktrades or Changelly. Downside is that you may be exposed to lower conversion rate (get less for the same money).

Aha! Good to know ! This stuff and trading etc. Is all very difficult and hard to understand. For someone that's never even dealt with trading or cripto before ! Thanks you were very helpful ! 😊👍

:) That's what Steemit is trying to sort out. A Social Media interface that works on top crypto but without it being right in front. It would indeed help to have some direct conversions from the Steemit wallets into USD and back that are a seamless experience to everyone. I hope we manage to achieve that sometime in the near future!

Hey @karenmckersie, how can we help you to pass the exchange process? Probably can you share screenshots, what's going wrong for you? Or just send request to our [email protected] team. We believe that we have made intuitive and pretty clear interface. But you can help us to get better. As for registration, we just ask for your email to take care - send a payment receipt, save your exchanges history and give your a support, if needed. If you want to stay anonymous, just type any fake email you want, we don't require it's confirmation. Hope you will be satisfied by our service http://Changelly.com further!

I look further into it when I decide to do it ! I'm using a new keyboard that pops up in the way of your pop up list ! So I can't read it . It's hard to explain and can't screen shot it because it goes away as soon as I tap on it ! Lol I'm too busy right now and when I'm ready will look more into it ! Also I'm in Canada so need info and best way to turn steem into Canadian fiat ! Thanks for all the help !👍I only have and use a tablet .

Thanks! Please, provide your tablet model and browser name. We will try to check out interface there.

When the time comes I can help you. You want advise from another Canadian.
I used Changelly to convert Steem to Bitcoin ... and created a Wallet Here to transfer the Bitcoin to -- www.bitgo.com/instant
... and opened an account here to deposit the bitcoins to my Canadian bank account.
https://www.canadianbitcoins.com/
The only downside is that you need to deposit a minimum of 0.2 bitcoins, which is $228 Canadian right now.
It took me a long time to research my best and least complicated options.

OK so you also needed to open an account at. - www.bitgo.com/instant to change your bitcoins into Canadian currency ? And at that time does it automatically go into your bank account ? And I'm thinking it cost alot , so I have heard ,to use changelly ?! I'm just worried about somehow loosing all my money ! Lol ! Thanks a bunch for all the info ! Happy Holidays !🎄👍😆🎄

Bitgo is a Bitcoin Wallet. You could probably use any bitcoin wallet out there.
Steem must be converted to Bitcoin and then converted to your local currency.
The Wallet at Bitgo is where you tell Changelly to send your Bitcoin that they just bought with the Steem you sent them.
I forgot to post the link for the other account to open ... sorry ... this one I had to research for a long time to figure out the best option ...
https://www.canadianbitcoins.com/
Canadian Bitcoins will take the bitcoins out of your wallet, convert it to Canadian dollars and direct deposit it to your Canadian Bank account.
I will go edit my original post. Sorry for the confusion.

OMG! This sounds very confusing and difficult ! Thanks for the info!🙃

I did it 3 times before the price of Steem fell. Now I power up instead.
The money went through to my bank each time. I was worried too at first but it works.

That's great it's very encouraging and good to know ! I always 100 percent power up everything I get in steem! It's my future house / retirement fund ! I may need more help when I do decide to take some out ! Thanks for everything ! It's great advise from a fellow Canadian! 🇨🇦

OK thanks ! What exactly do you mean by coin based account !? I'm in Canada ,not that I'm interested in cashing out yet ! I'm saving for my retirement fund to build a small house ! But what is the easiest and best coin based account , which I'm assuming I would have to set up , that you would recommend !? And thanks for all the info ! Much appreciated !😊👍

how interesting whats the min you can purchase of steem and bitcoin??

expensive af but good to know.. thanks

The comments in this thread are great learning nuggets as usual. #SteemitElders teaching -- +1

I just put up a decent post about real estate and renos etc CG if you want to have a look

Thankyou for info, was wondering how to do this last night!

I don't see Steem in the search to buy, am I missing something?

Thanks for starting this thread. I was about to post a similair thread. I strongly advice people to only buy in to cryptos that have a solid background: A solid team, product, advisors, preferably VC investors, etc. Sell all cryptos that don't have this solid background. It's a waiste of money. Besides coinmarketcap.com there is: https://www.coincheckup.com Every single coin can be analysed here based on: the team, the product, advisors, community, the business and the business model and much more. See: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Steem#analysis To check Steem Indepth analysis.

Changely is a f'ing ripoff. It's crazy that anybody would use it, ever, much less recommend it.

That is NOT buying Steem with USD. It is buying it with BTC.
