The 'main?' boy character of this game? Funny enough, Juro Kurabe isn't interesting on his own, but everything interesting in this game revolves around him.
Juro of the current loop started as Juro Izumi in Sector 1, he was recruited by Ida and Morimura to get into a Sentinel and fight the Kaiju in Sector 2 (year 2064,) but when the code DD426 spread to all Sentinels, he was forceblly shifted into Sector 3 (year 2024.) There, he meets with Megumi Yakushiji and falls in love with her, and fights to protect her city from the Kaiju. Izumi spends 2 hours fighting, and loses his memories completely.
Chihiro Morimura decides to give him the memories of "her" Juro Izumi, (from two loops ago,) but Tamao Kurabe, gives him a new personality: Juro Kurabe. That's the character we control in this game!
Most of Juro Kurabe's story revolves around navigating his Home Problems, and Disturbing Dreams. His friendship with Shu and Shiba, and his love for movies.
His life turned upside down when Megumi Yakushiji moved in with him after his grandmother Tamao left the city. Megumi seems to love him, and cooks for him as payment for letting her stay over:
"What are you trying to do to me? We're a boy and a girl, alone together, puberty exists!" -- Juro Kurabe
To add more chaos, his neighbour, Natsuno, brings another guest to stay at his house.
Juro Kurabe keeps having dreams about the future. In one dream, he blows up a research factory along with Chihiro. In another, he goes crazy and starts killing the "compatible" children of that loop. He even kills Megumi in the dreams, which is why he avoids her in fear of actually going crazy and killing her for real.
Juro discovers that the dreams he keeps having is Juro Izumi's memories, but not the Juro Izumi he was before memory loss, but the Juro Izumi from two loops ago. The one who's known as 426, the mass murderer.
Juro's best friend, Shiba Kyuta who's another version of 426 that only he can see, has been manipulating his memories. Though it's revealed near the end that Shiba was actually saving him. The memories were already implanted into him by the time Shiba comes into the picture. Shiba converted the memories that Chihiro Morimura planted into him into movies. If Shiba didn't, the clash between Izumi's memories, and Kurabe's personality would've broken him.
Juro's relationship with Megumi developed so quickly near the end. I knew she loved him, but I was surprised when he said "I love you" to her. Though I guess it makes sense.
It's funny that this Juro fell in love with Megumi, TWICE, while the Juro Izumi from two loops ago fell in love with Chihiro Morimura.
It's not confirmed yet, but I believe the Juro Izumi from the year 2188 managed to save Megumi Yakushiji from that timeline, and that's why she's was one of the last 15 people who were left of humanity. That's why I think the ending for both of Juro and Megumi is very poetic!
Iori is what I call a 'starter' character. She has the most slice-of-life based story, and in the final battle, she was the most clueless character about what's going on.
She's hopelessly in love with Ei Sekigahara with whom it was love on the first sight. Too bad Ei lost his memories
Iori experienced events of the previous loop in form of dreams. Near the end of her story, it was revealed she's the current loop's Chihiro Morimora. The previous loop's Chihiro had transplanted her memories into her in order to take over her body, but eventually decided against it. Iori now is her own person.
Not really my favorite female character in this game, and some parts of her story felt like filler, but she had a really badass line in the end:
"I may be a school girl, but now, I'm a school girl with a Giant Robot!" -- Iori Fuyusaka
Her story ends just before Ei's story starts, and I find her role in his story more interesting than her own. I also love how she has no feelings towards Juro Kurabe, (at least not in the current loop,) yet Yakushiji projects her jealousy unto her.
Natsuno is probably my favorite female character in the game. She's so into Alien movies, that when she found the people in suits searc0hing around the school, and when she found the Scout Unit, (which she named BJ,) she immedietly crafted a whole narrative about what's going on in her head.
Natsuno's story revolves around searching for Sentinel No.17 for her friend BJ, which eventually becomes her Sentinel in the Final Battle. She traveled through time and saw all sectors. She helped Miura find a place to stay when he shifted to Sector 5. Her friendship with Yuki-chan is wholesome!
She thought she was the main character of an Alien conspiracy, hiding the alien BJ from the 'Men In Black' so he can retrieve his robot and save earth. Up until the climax of her story, Natsuno misunderstood everything going around her to fit that narrative.
What I love the most about Natsuno story is how she's innocent in her worldview. At the start of the game, I felt she was almost delusional. She never waits for an explanation because 'Don't worry, I've seen the movie.'
However, when encountering hard evidence, she managed to realize that "she" was one of the aliens that Project Ark created.
Natsuno's story is full of bombshells like that!
Her relationship with Miura is probably my favorite! Maybe because their original selves were a couple? Mostly because of how little their stories focused on romance, yet you can see the attraction in their Thinking segments!
Megumi's whole story revolves around her love towards Juro Izumi. She follows the orders of a talking Cat (whom she named Fluffy) who promises her he'll bring back Juro's memories.
Megumi is the reason most of the cast is forced to fight the Kaiju, as the 'Magic Gun' that fluffy gave her to shoot 'Witches' actually adds a code that gives the compatible children access to their Sentinels. It's revealed that the Cat was Juro Izumi from two loops ago, (also called prisoner 426,) and that shooting people with the Magic gun and forcing the children to fight Kaiju was the only chance they'd survive.
Her story reminded me of Magical Girls shows like Sailor Moon, and Ojama Doremi, except that this one is darker, and Sci-fi themed.
Megumi is very reserved, but stubborn. She gave Hijiyama her Yakisoba Pan when she found him stranded on the streets, and she saved Nenji Ogata from Okino Tsukasa when he was captured. While she does shoot people with the Magic Gun, she feels bad about doing it. For her, bringing Izumi back comes before everything else, even her friendship with Usami.
I like how in the end, while she couldn't bring Juro Izumi back, she reached an understanding with Juro Kurabe. He loved her, and promised he'll protect her as much as Izumi did, and in turn, Megumi promised to fight along side him.
One of my favorite parts in the Final Battle parts of the story is when she apologized to Tomi Kisaragi (Usami) for bringing her into the battle field. Usami didn't mind, but I'm glad Megumi still felt guilty about it.

Many of the immigrants being detained came into the country by legal means that have been revoked, they came looking for a better future and to escape violence. If immigration laws are to be enforced, it should be done in a humane way.
Criminals aside, these are not just immigrants we are dealing with, these are people first and above all else. These are people with trauma who are struggling to survive. What ever we may think of them, we must treat them with dignity.
High-temperature superconductors for spaceflight
While scientists have toyed with the idea of using AF-MPD thrusters since the 1970s, the Paihau-Robinson team believes it could be the first to test the technology in real space conditions.
To make the technology viable for space, the team is using high‐temperature superconductors (HTS). Superconductors typically operate at extremely cold temperatures, meaning the “high temperature” here is relative. The magnets will operate at temperatures of -198.15°C (-324.67°F or 75 kelvins).
HTS have almost no electrical resistance, meaning they require minimal power to generate strong magnetic fields.
In an interview with IEEE Spectrum, Randy Pollock, the chief engineer for space at Paihau-Robinson, said, “To our knowledge, this is the most powerful electromagnet that will have ever flown.”
“Additionally, it can achieve higher power levels and thrust while maintaining efficiency, making it suitable for long-term missions to destinations like the Moon, Mars, and beyond.”
The team’s magnet is made up of four coils of superconducting tape and is roughly the size of a dinner plate. It aims to make a smaller iteration in the near future. This will reduce weight, making it better suited to spaceflight.
This year, the Paihau-Robinson team also aims to send a technology demonstrator, called Hēki, to the ISS. This demonstrator will be attached to the outside of the space station on Voyager Space’s NanoRacks External Platform. Hēki is the word for “egg” in the Māori language. The name was chosen to reflect the fact this could be the beginning of a new era in spaceflight.

Lycurgus – The Mess (community meals)
In addition to the Agoge, Lycurgus brought “The Mess” back from Crete. In Crete the common meal was called andrei; in Sparta phiditia, meaning place of friendship.
Spartiates were required to eat all evening meals together in groups, and were not allowed to dine with their families. They were required to eat specified meat sauces, cereals, and the famous black broth as part of a practice of moderation. This production of non-wealth was a leveling force among rich and poor. A rich man dining with a poor man could not put on an expensive display, nor could he eat first at home and then attend the mess, because others would be watching for anyone trying to defeat a system designed for all. Eating with one’s fellow soldiers prevented the men from spending too much time at home as Plutarch puts it,

“While reducing the weight, we must ensure that its strength does not decrease, and we even need to increase its strength because of the higher speed. It’s just like a person who wants to slim down while building strength. This involves structural changes and material innovations,” said Chen Can, an associate researcher at CARS.
Testing procedures, breakthroughs, and other technologies
Sensors have been installed on the tracks to achieve the necessary balance, transmitting real-time weight data from each wheel to a monitoring system. Researchers are also enclosing the entire bogie area beneath the train for the first time to minimize air resistance, a critical factor at very high speeds.
“Ensuring the smoothness of the entire train body minimizes resistance during operation,” said Ha Dalei, a senior designer at the National Engineering Research Center of Rail Transportation at CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd.

In addition to the CR400, China already operates other record-breaking trains. The Shanghai Maglev runs on magnetic levitation technology at a maximum speed of about 431 kilometers (268 miles) per hour during regular service.
Despite fierce global competition from France’s Train à Grande Vitesse (TGV), Japan’s Shinkansen, and Spain’s AVE Class 103, China is currently the only country operating commercial high-speed rail services at 350 kilometers per hour. Although the CR450 prototypes have passed static and low-speed dynamic tests in traction, braking, and noise control, engineers plan to gradually increase speeds in future trials. Some scholars believe Lycurgus lived in the early 8th century B.C. (circa 770), and others place him a century later. I believe the reforms were probably implemented after the Second Messenian War in 640 B.C. The Spartans had originally subjugated the Messenians in 708, but they revolted in 640, and had to be defeated and controlled a second time. Most likely changes were made then to prevent further revolts.
The earlier date seems unlikely, because writing was not established in Greece until 750 B.C, and it’s hard to imagine a Lycurgian Constitution before that time. Moreover, the first Athenian Constitution dated from 594, so putting the Spartans one hundred and fifty years ahead of the rest of Greece in the creation of a modern government seems farfetched.
According to Greek history, Lycurgus traveled to Crete and became exposed to the Cretan culture, including the Agoge system (rigorous training) and the Mess. Plutarch says he brought the new system back to Sparta where much of it was adopted easily. Some aspects were resisted for a time before they became part of the new culture. It's impossible to know how long this took and how difficult it must have been. Obviously, in the beginning, Spartans of influence would have to accept the reforms or the Lycurgian system would have been stillborn. One imagines a next step where the leaders forced a new system on the people until it was completely accepted. Not that “forcing” would have been as difficult in this case as other times in history, because there were many elements that would have made the new system attractive to the Spartan people – equality, property, freedom from manual labor, and more, so perhaps the implementation took place rather quickly.

13 Sentinels is a 30-hour sci-fi mystery story, so I'll have to spoil the ending to express my opinion on most characters!

Megumi's whole story revolves around her love towards Juro Izumi. She follows the orders of a talking Cat (whom she named Fluffy) who promises her he'll bring back Juro's memories.
Megumi is the reason most of the cast is forced to fight the Kaiju, as the 'Magic Gun' that fluffy gave her to shoot 'Witches' actually adds a code that gives the compatible children access to their Sentinels. It's revealed that the Cat was Juro Izumi from two loops ago, (also called prisoner 426,) and that shooting people with the Magic gun and forcing the children to fight Kaiju was the only chance they'd survive.
Her story reminded me of Magical Girls shows like Sailor Moon, and Ojama Doremi, except that this one is darker, and Sci-fi themed.
Megumi is very reserved, but stubborn. She gave Hijiyama her Yakisoba Pan when she found him stranded on the streets, and she saved Nenji Ogata from Okino Tsukasa when he was captured. While she does shoot people with the Magic Gun, she feels bad about doing it. For her, bringing Izumi back comes before everything else, even her friendship with Usami.
I like how in the end, while she couldn't bring Juro Izumi back, she reached an understanding with Juro Kurabe. He loved her, and promised he'll protect her as much as Izumi did, and in turn, Megumi promised to fight along side him.
One of my favorite parts in the Final Battle parts of the story is when she apologized to Tomi Kisaragi (Usami) for bringing her into the battle field. Usami didn't mind, but I'm glad Megumi still felt guilty about it.

Many of the immigrants being detained came into the country by legal means that have been revoked, they came looking for a better future and to escape violence. If immigration laws are to be enforced, it should be done in a humane way.
Criminals aside, these are not just immigrants we are dealing with, these are people first and above all else. These are people with trauma who are struggling to survive. What ever we may think of them, we must treat them with dignity.

HTS have almost no electrical resistance, meaning they require minimal power to generate strong magnetic fields.

Obviously, Plato and Aristotle saw what was happening and blamed the failure of Sparta on its quirky culture. I don’t know what history the philosophers had access to which would have taught them about Sparta at its zenith (Herodotus for sure), but it certainly would have been more difficult to criticize the Spartan system during a time when it was the leading power in Greece and responsible for the protection of Athens as its ally.
